Once upon a time, long, long ago, when there were raging economic debates, common workers and farmers would got to halls and opera houses and pack them tight in order to listen to the debates of the finest orators in America. Remember those? They gave long, involved speeches about the nature of currency, the value of trade or the need for tariffs. Even women’s societies talked about these momentous things. Obama just announced his economic advisory team. It is, like Bush’s team, filled to the top with heavily connected people who have no connections with the ‘common man’ and hope to never have any such contacts. Or shoes might be thrown at them.
Indeed, there is an epidemic of shoe throwing, lately.

President Obama today named the members of his new Economic Recovery Advisory Board, which he said would assure that his decisions on the economy would be guided in part by voices “beyond the Washington echo chamber.”
“We will meet regularly so that I can hear different ideas and sharpen my own, and seek counsel that is candid and informed by the wider world,” Obama said at a news conference.
HAHAHA. So, did he really go beyond the ‘echo corridor’? Well…I am not on the list. Nor are any of the excellent writers, commentators and economic pundits online, those of us who called each step of the global melt-down with unerring accuracy. Not to be totally egotistical, but anyone reading the past 5 years of my own commentary knows that my batting average is at World Series levels.
No, the people Obama selected are extremely connected to everything imaginable. Of course, the Bilderger list is secret as hell like the meetings and I am betting a base ball bat that every character he picked was at the last big Bilderberg meeting held secretively in Washington DC before the election. Obama snuck off to it and they had a serious chat with him.
It went like this: ‘OH MY GOD!!!! Everything is going to hell in a teakettle. We are going to die! You have to follow our instructions and we will make you a billionaire like us! Look at Hillary and Bill! And McCain! They are all filthy rich! We will make you filthy rich, too! Just do as we say and don’t rock the ship.’ I wonder if Madoff was there? Certainly, some of the nobility who worked for him were there.
Of course, this ‘not-connected to DC’ committee has Trilateral connections too! And god knows how many go to Bohemian Grove black magic meetings! There is, in fact, not one single ‘unconnected’ American on this committee. Why not pick a ‘Joe the Plumber’ sort? Like, just for show? Couldn’t the Democratic President think of even one, single, real American outsider? One??? I can’t even volunteer for that, I have too many connections to the ruling elites, way too many, myself. But I would happily choose someone for this honor. I just want one voice that is contrary to the others who have 100% reason to keep the status quo.

Despite Wall Street’s savaged image with the public, Obama gave one seat on the 15-member board to Robert Wolf, the CEO of investment bank UBS Group Americas. No surprise, of course, that Wolf was a big fundraiser for Obama’s presidential campaign.
The private-equity business also is represented, via Mark T. Gallogly, founder of Centerbridge Partners in New York and another Obama fundraiser.
Silicon Valley got two seats: John Doerr, a partner at venture capital firm Kleiner, Perkins, Caufield & Byers; and Charles E. Phillips, Jr., president of software giantOracle Corp.
The board will be chaired by Paul Volcker, the former Federal Reserve chairman and one of Obama’s top economic advisors.

Bank officials named in an unfolding Senate investigation have directed more than $2 million into this year’s congressional and presidential campaigns, some of it arriving just as investigators finished a report accusing the bank of helping clients hide billions of taxable dollars from theInternal Revenue Service.
At the heart of the probe is UBS of Switzerland, one of the world’s largest banks, which in June alone distributed $98,000 to members of Congress through its political action committee. In July, the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations completed its report on UBS’s role in helping wealthy investors shield money from federal taxes….
UBS always has been a major donor in Washington, in addition to spending close to $1 million a year on lobbying. The bank has spent more on the 2008 elections, which are still more than three months away, than during the entire 2006 cycle. The UBS political committee distributed $2.21 million to politicians and political groups over the past 18 months. The chairman of UBS Americas, Robert Wolf, helped raise more than $250,000 for Sen. Barack Obama’s Democratic presidential bid. And another top executive at UBS, former senator Phil Gramm, was until recently a close adviser toSen. John McCain’s Republican campaign.
Pragasam noted that Wolf’s role in the Obama campaign predates the Senate investigation by more than a year, and that Wolf oversees the bank’s American operations, while the Senate probe is focused on the activities of UBS offices in Switzerland.

Dana fights to distance itself from bankruptcy

A year after emerging from the shelter of bankruptcy protection, Dana Holding Corp. is spending its first birthday trying to figure out a way to get to its second.
The Toledo auto parts manufacturer has cut 6,000 jobs, closed four factories, and undergone an executive shuffle since emerging from 23 months of Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on Jan. 31, 2008. Meanwhile, its common stock – passed out to creditors of the former Dana Corp. at an expected value of about $22 a share – closed Feb. 4, 2008, at $12.75 a share and never got higher. It closed Monday at 84 cents, a decline of 93 percent. Still, executives said the local firm is headed in the right direction.
“Our reorganization and exit financing positioned us to compete in a very challenging market,” company spokesman Chuck Hartlage said.

“Part of the reason we got a current mortgage crisis has to do with the fact that people got suckered in to loans that they could not pay,” he told a crowd in Reading, Pa., last week. “There were a lot of predatory loans that were given out, a lot of teaser rates. Banks and financial institutions making these loans were making money hand over fist.”
At the helm of Superior Bank was Obama’s national finance chairwoman, Penny Pritzker, an heiress to the Pritzker fortune.

Volcker Chafes at Panel Delay, Clashes With Summers
Paul Volcker has grown increasingly frustrated over delays in setting up the economic advisory group President Barack Obama picked the former Federal Reserve chairman to lead, people familiar with the matter said.
Volcker, 81, blames Obama’s National Economic Council Director Lawrence Summers for slowing down the effort to organize the panel of outside advisers, the people said. Summers isn’t regularly inviting Volcker to White House meetings and hasn’t shown interest in collaborating on policy or sharing potential solutions to the economic crisis, they said.
I lost this story angle in the shuffle. It comes as no surprise to see Volcker and Summers at odds with each other. The power struggle going on is, of course, between connected Titans and their various web organizations. The point remains, none of these people are bringing in anyone from the outside. Even outsiders who are part of the web like myself, are not invited. We know of many such people who were either once part of these webs or who are in academia who could give good input. There is one academic on this panel. But she is pure Ivory Tower and more like Rupunzel rather than someone, like myself, who had to make a living in the real world, doing real labor, writing real contracts or mucking around with physical things, trying to survive.

How hard would it really be to OUTLAW private financing of any and all politicians? Give anyone who wants to run x amount for round 1, then another pool for the winners of the next election round, etc…, and have it all paid for by taxpayers. So complete public financing of campaigns = no ability to bribe politicians!
Also, once a US congressman/woman leaves office, they get a $150,000 year pension for life, and they’re not allowed to work ever again (at least for 10 years?), and they still can’t take any money from anyone for anything, and they can’t have charity organizations either, and their families can’t take any money either, and their finances would be audited every year too.
That would fix the corruption in our political system, wouldn’t it? Simply take away the ability of anyone to buy them.

I have always thought it curious that Obama would have Hillary in his administration in ANY position. Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State makes it look even more suspicious. Do you think Bill will have to disclose his donors to his “foundation”, or whatever Clinton calls his tax shelter for himself? I look ar Hillary and the first word that comes to mind is,”sleaze”. These two sold out their Labor support and promoted and passed NAFTA. Bill and Hillary would sell out their grandmothers in a New York minute if there was a political gain to be had. I think there has been PLENTY of deal making going on behind the scenes and what makes it to public consumption is strictly public relations. Example: how could Obama miscalculate so badly in getting his stimulus bill through Congress? Couldn’t Obama have known the Republicans would stall and obstruct? Obama ran such a good and smart campaign it’s hard to believe he could be so off the mark on the stimulus bill. It looks like they play charades alot in Washington DC.

I forwarded Elaine a link to new ‘news’ posted on Deep Capture.com. Article written by Mark Mitchell regarding the links of the Madoff scandal to nearly every known Jewish financial operator of the last 20 years. Bill Cara picked up on the news quickly as he has been fighting and trying to expose the Jewish mafia for many, many years. Milken, Boesky, Steinhart, Cramer, Wynn, Ovitz, Peritz, Rich, Belzberg, Cohen, Rocker….the list goes on and on. A couple of Italians involved but it is so obvious that the entire money scamming business is totally dominated by Jews as they think it is not unlawful [according to Judaic and Talmudic teachings] to fleece the flock and worse if need be. I’ve been around these guys for a bit in Vegas, believe Elaine when she says there are conversations that are conducted for ‘goyim’ and then there is the ‘backroom’ conversations that only members of the ‘tribe’ are allowed to hear and participate in. Antisemitism at its worst is pale in comparison to the hate and vilification these people spew on others, not just white Christians, but blacks, orientals, Arabs, Mexicans…..get used to it folks….most Jews despise you while pretending to befriend you. I think that they don’t see themselves as traitors at all: they destroyed *your* “nation”, an enemy “nation”, and they regard that “nation” as just cattle or vermin.
You are making the mistake of fantasizing that these people think that you and them are equals, citizens of the same nation. They don’t — they think that you are cattle (if generating profits) or vermin (if trying to steal them via taxation).
Their nation is the nation of gated communities and mansions, of deserving producers; the enemy nation is that of parasitical exploiters.

Karmaisking, far from being over, it is just ‘beginning’. I, for one, am not a fatalist. The fact that people wanted change and voted for the first black man to overcome centuries of racism is a good sign that we are basically good people trying to do our best. When lost, do you commit suicide? Or struggle to survive and find your way out of the woods?

I am a survivalist. I am also a believer in collective action. So, I am an activist. An activist is someone who doesn’t step over the person lying in the gutter or kick him but rather, seeks to do something about that person. Saving people’s lives isn’t so very difficult. I have done this in real life, all the time. I have saved many lives, often, of strangers.

If you reach out for the philosophy of great humanists like St. Francis, Dr. King, Albert Einstein, etc, you will find, even if you don’t scale their heights, you will find humanity, love, sorrow and the lifting of the burden on the heart for real riches are the riches of the soul.

K-Bo: the need for campaign finance reform has been too too obvious for a long time. The human inclination towards greed and corruption are the barriers to an honest politicaL system. The US Senate is called the ‘millionaires club’ and for ggod reason. Phil Gramm is a perfect example of how bad the system is corrupted. Gramm forced the Financial Modernization Act of 1999 through Congress (along with Leach and Billey) and THEN went to work for UBS. And for good measure, to show you the level of contempt guys like Gramm have for the average voter, he tried to disguise his bank giveaway as a “Data privacy Act” instead of the boondoggle for the banking industry it was. I’d like to see Gramm in handcuffs on his way to a REAL prison to serve a LONG sentence. We’d see who is a whiner then.

My son is a specific kind of engineer…the banks clean out a foreclosed business and put items up for auction or on e-bay. We have purchased over $100,000 worth of items as it applies to his occupation for just over $10,000. When this mess is finally over, and the sun shines again, he will already be set to go on with his occupation…by then, with inflation, we will be holding much more value at the inflated prices we can expect in the future.

The most idiotic thing I saw recently was a stupid kid I knew selling an almost new four head lumber planer for scrap for $300.00. The damned thing was worth $100,000 new and $40,000 used. Someday, someone will need lumber to rebuild this nation…and the trees keep growing…and times will get better.

I know where an excavator is sitting in the woods ruining because nobody has a need for it now. I wish I were a millionaire. I would buy up some of these things and store them for the future. Banks send unknowledgeable folks into foreclosed businesses and those underpaid grunts don’t give a damn what they sell off the stuff for…so bargains abound in an economy like ours. Just use good judgment and save things that are worth saving…good quality tools, machines and things that do useful work…all that will be needed in the future when we try to survive and rebuild.

My advice about hoarding when in foreclosure was bad. DON”T hide equipment if you are going into foreclosure…banks will put you in prison…Elaine is right about this…so don’t do it. I slipped up and let my mouth overload my rear. Please forgive me.
If you can LEGALLY move equipment to safe storage if you are closing out your business, do so because someday it might be needed again.
Even if you are so disgusted you want to walk away from everything, don’t….you will need something to start over with someday…so store the stuff you might need.
Yes, DeVaul, for peasants and slaves, it has always been a continual game to outsmart the overseers and lords of the manor so they won’t take all we have and leave us penniless and powerless.
Perhaps, even better than hoarding, I might also advise to always be thinking about alternative solutions that will help you have shelter and eat and care for loved ones. Always work at making new friends, and new acquaintces and establising trust with people you meet. Then, when the chips are down, you might have somewhere to go and someone to turn to.
During GD I, in the US, we had large extended families to count on…aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers and sisters. Nowadays, many single children are alone if parents are deceased and today’s families are very small. Work hard to make friends.
I think of the old Brier Rabbit Tales from the Old South slave days. Slaves frequently used deception and masterful psychology to manipulate their masters into bending to the slaves will in ordinary daily matters.
These child’s tales were great ways of teaching slave children how to work the oppressive system for their advantage. I was fortunate enough to have a second grade teacher who read these tales to us children. They are wonderful.

Edward Griffin, of “Freedom Force International.” A must read is his explanation of “collectivism” (socialism, fascism, communism, etc.. in effect totalitarian forms of government) as a slow, insidious secret movement, compared with the American founding fathers ideal of individualism.

It’s a 6 part series describing the philosophical underpinnings of why they want a new world government, and want to take away your rights. It’s a very slippery slope, which allowed US presidents (Wilson, FDR, Bush) to start wars and permit US citizens to be murdered and killed in stupid, unnecessary wars “for the greater good,” and for people to become slaves of the state. They don’t trust individuals to do the right thing, so they take away their freedom and have the state do what these few people believe is best.
People, the only purpose of government should be to protect the rights of individuals – not to provide for their every need. My philosophy has always been that less government is better, and individuals should be free to choose. It’s when government gets involved that things usually get screwed up. Free markets are best, as long as laws are in place and enforced to protect the rights of all.
At last for me I understand what the conspirators want and why, thanks to G. Edward Griffin.
It’s a fight for individual freedom vs. being controlled by the state (which is controlled by a few wealthy elite who want power and in their mind know best). Basically it’s a fight of totalitarianism or true freedom – on a world wide scale.

P.S. to those kind supporters: How could I NOT be somewhat fatalistic??? It’s not “Eastern” or “Western”. It’s REALITY. I’ve been screaming about this stuff for 10 years in my neck of the woods.
In a society of 100% mindless consuming Philistines, no one can hear you scream. Do you know the extent of the malinvestments during that 10 year period? The farmland destroyed by residential developments? The new shopping centers that have killed off local shops and grocery stores? The lack of public transport? The need for unsustainable freeway transport for so many new communities that are now mortgaged, indebted. And f*cked.
I’m tired, and beaten. The Big Boyz got to me in my neck of the woods. The woods are all burnt down, and they got their thugs onto me. I’m starved of their precios $$$s and there’s nothing left. That’s how they always kill: Starvation by lack of access to capital. Capital is $$$s. And they print it and distribute it and so create the world in their image. And their image does not involve people like me.
Someone else needs to take it to the money changers and rip the gold and silver out of their dead Satanic zombified hands and put it back into the market as money, where it BELONGS.

We need to be a society, not a fractured mess, Karmaisking. You want to know why I bought an entire section of a mountain? I had my homes destroyed, before. Once, the military dropped a jet on my neighborhood! I fought ‘urban renewal’. I warned my parents to buy 600 acres back in the early 1960s. They didn’t and our ranch was surrounded by suburban housing by 1985. And so on. I own what I survey. I like this except the military STILL flies jets straight at my house! In the middle of nowhere!
