The US trade deficit went down. It is half of what it was in the disastrous year of 2007 when it was nearly $900 billion. Still, it is far, far greater than it was in 1999. And is going to grow again as the US prints more and more money. Time to talk again about ‘red ink‘, that mysterious substance that will lead inevitably to this other mystery called, ‘bankruptcy’. Seems many US economic eggheads and of course, the Federal Reservists, cannot understand the nature of ‘red ink‘ so I will try to explain this mystery yet again.

Trade Deficit in U.S. Narrowed in May as Exports Rose (Update2) – Bloomberg.com
The U.S. trade deficit unexpectedly narrowed in May to the lowest level in almost a decade as exports jumped while imports of crude oil and auto parts declined.
The gap between imports and exports decreased 9.8 percent to $26 billion, the smallest deficit since November 1999, from a revised $28.8 billion in April that was lower than previously estimated, the Commerce Department said today in Washington. Imports fell while exports rose the most since July 2008….
The dollar remained lower against the yen after the report, trading at 92.24 yen per dollar at 9:11 a.m. in New York, compared with 92.99 late yesterday. The dollar was at $1.3902 per euro from $1.4020.
.
So, the trade deficit this year, during a Great Depression II year, will probably be ‘only’ $350 billion? HAHAHA. Great gods! Let’s look back in time to the last time this trade deficit was ’small’ was in 2001:
.
The U.S. Commerce Department announced today that America’s trade deficit in 2000 was the biggest in the history of the world. The difference between what Americans imported and exported last year should reach about $370 billion — more than $100 billion larger than the previous record deficit set in 1999 and double the 1998 deficit. Many headlines and quotes from trade skeptics will sound a familiar refrain: “Worst Year Ever for American Trade.” “Trade Deficit Costs Jobs.” “Trade Gap Undermines Dollar, Threatens Expansion.” Should Americans worry about the trade deficit? Or is it a sign of our nation’s strong economy? A $2-million federal commission on the trade deficit issued a final report in November that answered yes to both questions. Economic theory and experience show that trade deficits are driven by levels of national saving and investment in the U.S. economy, not by allegedly unfair trade barriers abroad or by declining industrial competitiveness at home. America’s record trade deficit is a symbol of economic strength, reflecting a strong net inflow of foreign investment drawn to America’s dynamic economy. Growing trade deficits signal improving economic conditions, while shrinking deficits often occur in times of economic trouble. During the last 25 years, the U.S. economy has on average grown about a percentage point faster, 3.5 percent vs. 2.6 percent, in years when the trade deficit expanded compared with years when it shrank. The unemployment rate on average fell 0.4 percentage points during years of rising deficits and rose 0.4 points when the deficit shrank. Manufacturing output rose much faster during years of rising trade deficits than during years of shrinking deficits.
.
The Cato Institute hires people who have great talent in not seeing the obvious. Mixing up cause and effect is a common problem with people who have ideological points of view they must cling to no matter what. First off, in early 2001, before the 9/11 business, we were running an immense trade deficit. It increased by $100 billion in just one year. This heralded a series of very serious trade deficits that shot to nearly a trillion dollars when finally, the entire world trade system collapsed.
.
This collapse is a depression. Now, the only times in the last 30 y ears that the US has reduced our trade deficit is either when we made deals like the Bretton Woods II and Plaza Accord business, raising the value of the yen and DM artificially. Or when we have massive recessions. Only when we cease buying foreign oil and foreign goods, do we see any reduction in our trade deficit. The way we end all our recessions so far, is to increase the availability of credit. This means, all the good times we have enjoyed after previous recessions has been nearly entirely based on increasing our levels of debt.
.
Now, this Cato character thinks that trade deficits getting worse means our economy is improving because we are buying more things! This is totally infantile. This is what happens when people don’t look at all the facts. He ignores the fact that trade deficits are RED INK. So are government deficits. And when we increase borrowing for domestic consumption purposes, that, too, is RED INK.
.
Red ink means losses. Somehow, we must hammer this basic concept into the pea-sized brains of people like Mr. Griswold! Red ink is BAD. Just like bleeding blood is bad. When any business notices that is is running in the red, it panics. If that business doesn’t stop the red ink, it goes BANKRUPT. If all conditions concerning this mysterious substance called red ink inevitably leads to bankruptcy if not turned into green ink, then running a trade deficit deep in red ink is BAD NEWS. Perhaps if we always write the words ‘red ink‘ in red, we can note it more often and this is a red flag which means ’stop whatever the hell you are doing, you idiots!’
.
So, the US trade deficit finally shrank down to the record deficits of 2001—-this is not good news. This is terrible news. We just passed through some of the worst economic conditions since the Great Depression I and we still didn’t even get slightly close to closing the trade deficit gap! This makes it utterly, crystal clear that our trade policies are crappy as hell.
.
So, what did Obama do at the G8 minus Hu and Kate (TV gossip joke, sorry!)? Why, Obama announced he will speed up the Doha Round talks! Talk about insanity. More and more of our economy is focused on exporting stuff. Yet, our trade deficit continues and is reduced only with the vicious mechanism of total economic and monetary collapse! The dollar is weak against the yen so our trade deficit improves. But not enough to pull us out of the deep pool of red ink. More of the same won’t work. Also, we must look at what we are exporting. We rely far too much on Boeing statistics to explain away our trade deficit. That is, much of the parts and sections Boeing planes are manufactured by our direst trade rivals. We then hammer these parts together and ship the final product out again.
.
This makes it look as if we are manufacturing things still when all we are doing is assembling the parts made elsewhere. This sort of deal must be closely examined. Boeing jet orders would collapse if we forced these other nations to buy our jets with no parts made in the various nations ‘buying’ our Boeing jets. All these same nations also, incidentally, run trade surpluses with the US! So, buying Boeing jets doesn’t solve our trade problems with, say, OPEC nations or China or Japan, for example.
.
Lost ‘Animal Spirits’ May Worsen Economy, Roubini, Shiller Say – Bloomberg.com
The worst recession in half a century may be prolonged because consumers see few signs job losses and declines in home prices are ending, economists Nouriel Roubini and Robert Shiller said.
“The fundamental problem, as Franklin Delano Roosevelt said in 1933, is fear,” Shiller, a Yale University professor, said yesterday on Bloomberg Radio’s “Surveillance.” The Great Depression was deepened by a “sense of lost confidence or animal spirits that was a self-fulfilling prophecy. The worry is that we will have the same kind of issue arising again,” he said.
The U.S. needs another stimulus package because President Barack Obama’s initial $787 billion plan hasn’t been implemented fast enough, according to Shiller. Roubini, an economics professor at New York University, said more spending is necessary to avoid stagnation like Japan’s in the 1990s.
.
Here it comes again! The baloney that people’s ‘fears’ prevent glorious days. Doing what, pray tell? Buying more stuff from overseas? The US trade deficit is the ultimate problem here: so long as we run deep in the red in this sector, all other sectors will have to also run in the red. That is, our government, which refuses to fund itself via the traditional tariffs, as well as the consumers, who see dropping wages due to offshoring of jobs and services.
.
We can’t simply go ‘Whoopee! Happy days are here again! Prosperity is around the corner!’ No, we have to settle our accounts and begin running trade in the green, not the red. Then, we can gain some capital and thus, become a creditor nation again like communist China which we used to call ‘Red China.’ I used to read Roubini a lot until he went off the cliff. He now wants us to generate even more government red ink in order to stimulate us so we can do what? Buy more stuff from Japan and China? Use more imported oil?
.
Whatever the hell we do with this new debts matters a great deal. We can’t rebuild our industries unless we first put up barriers against trade rivals underselling us. There is virtually no effort at this so far. Instead, we are told, if we start new industries, we will win the race with our rivals! Except, we can’t do this since they are as swift if not much swifter in building new industries. For example, the solar energy sector was of greatest interest for the Chinese back when they asked Nixon to send over my dad to start up their optics/solar energy sectors.
.
Europe has been very big and extremely active in alternative energy systems developments. They are our competitors. The US simply passively consumed more and more and more oil imports while all our trade rivals struggled to minimize oil imports. This is why we run very deep in the red. And we save money via outsourcing our jobs so we can buy cheaper manufactured goods but collectively, this ’savings’ has been very destructive since it is based on running our entire trade system deep in the red.
.
WRAPUP 1-Kohn warns Congress on meddling in Fed’s affairs | Markets | Markets News | Reuters
The U.S. Federal Reserve on Thursday launched a robust defense of its independence and warned that efforts in Congress to put monetary policy under political sway would hurt the economy.
Fed Vice Chairman Donald Kohn said opening up some of the U.S. central bank’s most sensitive decisions to political scrutiny could result in higher long-term interest rates and hurt the United States’ credit rating.
Testifying before a congressional panel, Kohn sought to beat back a proposed bill that would open the U.S. central bank’s policy decisions to audits by a federal watchdog agency. More than half of the members of the U.S. House of Representatives have signed as co-sponsors of the measure.
.
Congratulations to the fine Congressman, Ron Paul!!! Hooray! Look at the cockroaches scuttling about! So, prying into the super-secret books of the Federal Reserve, examining the chit chat of the board members who often hang out at secret Bilderberg meetings, this knowledge will destroy us? HAHAHA. We look at the banking Medusa and turn to stone! Why, interest rates will go up. This, of course, is due to the Wizard’s magic being exposed as a total fraud. As for our ‘credit ratings’: any entity that runs all systems from top to bottom in the red is a system heading towards bankruptcy! Period.
.
Our credit rating is still in the ‘A’ territory only because all of our trade rivals are very anxious to lend to us and to buy our crummy red ink so they can continue to flood us with their exports! Duh. Any fool can figure out this game. Certainly, the heads of every government on earth has figured this out. Why can’t we? The Federal Reserve is trying their hardest to spook everyone. Boo! Scary monsters! Don’t open that magic box! Yes, they are gnashing their fangs and howling like banshees. All the more reason to twist their tails.
.
By the way, interest rates will, starting in 2 years, begin their relentless climb back to over 20%. This is part of the next global inflationary wave that will be a repeat of the previous one which ran from 1933 to 1982. We are not going to be allowed to run a ZIRP system forever. Eventually, we will run out of room. We won’t be able to run up more bills. We will use up all our capital resources like land, water, air, minerals, animals, buildings, businesses, sex services that we can sell to pay for all our red ink. Whoring ourselves to pay for excessive imports is insanity but then, who says we are sane? Certainly, the Federal Reserve seems to attract only insane ideologues beholden to Goldman Sachs and JPM.
.
What if the Fed were a Bank? | The Big Picture
If the Fed were a bank and had to live up to the same capital requirements as the institutions it regulates, would it be adequately capitalized? This may seem like an absurd question. After all, a central bank can’t go bankrupt. This is especially true for the Federal Reserve, whose balance sheet historically has been quite simple compared to even that of a moderately sized bank….
Until the recent crisis, the Fed’s liability structure consisted mainly of currency held by the public (Federal Reserve notes), deposits held by member banks in the form of excess and required reserves, and deposits of the US Treasury. Currency accounted for about 90% of the Fed’s outstanding liabilities. Individual notes roll over as they wear out, but they are simply replaced with new ones. The total currency outstanding volumes fluctuated slightly with changes in the demand for cash. Cash demanded by the public includes foreign demand and what was needed in automated teller machines (ATMs).
Currency is effectively a permanent source of funding for the Fed, and its maturity is nearly infinite. Until just recently, none of the reserve deposits paid interest. Of course, cash pays no interest. So the currency component of the Fed’s balance sheet has a zero cost of carry.
.
Unlike Roubini, Mr. Ritholtz is very astute. In his article above, he explains how the Federal Reserve works. Like Madoff’s Ponzi business, it is very simple! It doesn’t require Goldman Sachs fancy antsy computer programs to run itself. The Fed system is basically a computer that adds more digits to the money supply whenever the guys running it need more loot. Of course, they can’t hide this entirely from the rest of the planet. What they are producing is this thing we call ‘red ink‘. HAHAHA. Here it is, again! The more money they create this way, the more debased our currency.
.
The Fed had a restriction on creation of red ink money and this was called ‘gold at Fort Knox’. When we ran in the red, France would raid our gold hoard and the value of the dollar would have to drop so we could stop this outflow. The gold in Fort Knox was a WARNING SYSTEM. Which regulated trade so we would not be tempted to run in the red all the time. When the gold peg was removed, we began to run all systems deeper and deeper in the red with the only contractions in red ink coming in times of very bad economic collapses.
.
The gold regulation system was simple and brutal. Which is why the Fed ditched it. They wanted to make money out of thin air, at whim. This is why they snarl that interest rates will go up if the Fed is audited. For the audit will show that the Fed is BANKRUPT! And bankruptcies happen when things are run relentlessly deep in the red.
.
The Chancellor of the Exchequer, Alistair Darling, announced plans to tighten up bank regulation on Wednesday that were widely denounced as feeble and the ever opportunistic George Osborne, the Shadow Chancellor, said that he would publish an alternative White Paper later this month. Then, as if to underline the fact that nothing much has changed since the crisis, the Nationwide Building Society introduced a mortgage scheme that allows borrowers to take loans worth 125 per cent of the value of the property they are buying. It is being made available to existing borrowers whose loans already exceed the value of their homes and who want to move. Actually the best thing such borrowers could do would be to stay put or downsize and the best thing the building society could do would be to avoid excessive risk.
.
In the US, we see the same thing: after all the Sturm und Drang, nothing is being changed. The Derivatives Beast still lives and is still very immense. The hedge fund pirate coves are still operating under the aegis of the Crown of the Queen of England and her goofy ‘The End is NIGH!’ son, Charles. The trade deficits continue. All systems set up in the last 30 years continue. Even though smart people can see clearly that China and all of China’s nearest neighbors are all preparing for a resumption of the gold standard for trade, the US dreams on about making money out of thin air and then using this magical money to buy oodles of goods from other nations and in return, give out paper IOUs claiming we will pay for it all, some day in the dim future.
.
Which is what the Chinese 50 Year Plan is all about: putting us deep in debt while absconding with our entire industrial base. Nothing, absolutely nothing has been done so far to thwart this plan.

imho, a major….THE major cause of white peoples problems is because of the rancid culture that has infected civilization for …. oh about the last century or so….its just “fruiting” finally now. we are going to become a nation of real good looking kids that don’t know how to feed themselves or motivated to do an honest days work in return for getting an honest days pay. and i blame the left equally along with the piggy money people. they can’t exist without each other. see what happens to deliberately diminished people who only worship their bodies and feelings and what they can get for nothing. michael jackson is a symptom…. “trade” is a red herring thrown into the mix by failed godless marxist “educated intellectuals” hoping nobody will notice. like i said, real americans can compete with anyone making anything doing anything with one arm while fondling daisy duke with the other. the rest of the deliberate collateral damaged people will decay and ultimately disappear like the dead end tributes to a failed white peoples egoistic philosophy they are in time.
July 10, 2009 at 5:22 pm
like the castrated singing boys were a symptom….they both were symptoms of a problem.
well soon white peoples “something for nothing” culture will disappear for good once others peoples money to spend is gone too….and the cleansing struggle to survive will cure most ills. its all about me! and happily spending other peoples money….and getting something for nothing like the left and their enablers, the bankster piggy money slugs regard as their due….cause they are so smart.
hahahahahah!

I find a common disturbing feature of many groups, the joy in the suffering of others.
Its a mainstay. Religion makes it’s vast fortune on this failing in the human race.
I see it here as well.
July 10, 2009 at 5:42 pm
pretty muchly all cultures but white peoples ego culture know all about the dangers of a too feminized culture. hee. hee. the painfully acquired knowledge that its not good to run around feeling too good about yourselves comes right out of pre-history everywhere.
well the never ending fucking rain seems to have ended until this evening when possible supercells are forecast. perhaps i can get something done about moving some hay until then. if i carry bales one by one, i surely won’t make ruts
but hey, i am just speaking of “what is”….which has absolutely nothing to do with “what ought to be”. i understand it is way easier to get a date now and nothing wrong with that. its just that the killer apes with the killer eyes who always will appear among us will pick you all out and off when the time comes. but whatever. have a good day.

Who says we enjoy self-immolation?
July 10, 2009 at 5:45 pm
Openly Hidden: one of the best cultures on this planet was the wonderful one run by lovers of the Goddesses in ancient Crete. The palaces had no watch towers, there were no walls hemming in people or locking out people. Everyone ran around in some of the most attractive outfits (hahaha….better than bikinis!) ever seen in the history of humanity.
They were cultured, pleasant, loved nature, loved seeing tits, and sailed around the Mediterranean and even to England, singing merrily. They didn’t toss babies to Moloch, for example. And they left splendid art and most of the mythos of the Greeks came from these wonderful people.

Trade deficit: Some day “maybe ” we will understand the difference in making things for our own uses & making things for resale purpose.
Its easy to blame the gov.& the fed.
but it is also true that the American consumer was more than willing to exchange his/her job for the cheap crap at the big box stores such as Wall mart.
July 10, 2009 at 6:04 pm
i guess to be perfectly clear, elaine is 100% right about red ink….its just that i think “we the people” following along with the piggy money people is a symptom also. the pigs will always be with us. but a civilized, moral, truly educated, upstanding people will not tolerate them. well now i surely do not have one word left to say about anything. i have several lifetimes of reading and understanding to get done yet.
July 10, 2009 at 6:07 pm
i agree 100% with you about the wonderful sunny topless people too elaine. the cultures that make women dogs and keep them and their beautiful souls covered and controlled is every bit a symptom as much as castrating boys so they can sound like girls or equating our personal happiness with how much loot we got or how many people we can fuck with …. these are symptoms!

An interesting thought that hadn’t occurred to me: cheap credit from the Fed is a big cause of the current account deficit. Uncle Ben blames much of our indebtedness, sale of assets, and numerous deficits to a foreign “savings glut,” but this lengthy article shoots down that notion:
http://mises.org/story/3556
“There is no genuine surge in foreign saving. There is domestic credit expansion and money supply increase that serves to increase imports and shift ownership of a substantial portion of the additional money supply, and short-term claims to money, to foreigners.”
…
“This creates a deficit in the balance of trade and in the whole of the so-called current account. While it may appear that increased foreign holdings of dollars and short-term dollar-denominated securities represent foreign investment, the truth is that much or possibly even all of the alleged foreign saving entering the United States is nothing other than a consequence of US credit expansion and money supply increase.”
So the solution isn’t only to force balanced trade with import barriers, but to stop the Fed from creating so much credit/money.
July 10, 2009 at 7:09 pm
They are half correct. The credit surge was very much an affect of the trade deficit here. That is, we had little inflation in goods and services even as property inflated tremendously. This gave property owners the illusion of wealth. The trade goods lending is distinct from the housing lending. The housing lending was generated locally. But the sale of all bonds depended very much on the trade competitors having capital they wished to store in the form of bonds.

so elaine posted stuff about gold lol

babies will be born in a detachable little carry case. That way both can be responsible for the first 9 months ,
this does away with suffering in the first part .
as to the latter. maybe nature has a way of keeping score on those destined in line for the sewer pits of calcutta .

Openly hidden, if you want to see what USA would be if we did not kill off our natives, visit Mexico. Do it the real way, drive. It will change the way you look at things. And keep going to Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Panama.. You can cross the Darien Gap and it will still be the same, until you hit the Patagonia. We are the only European country in the North and South Americas. You too Ziff house, not to diminish your accomplishments in Canad of course. The natives did not blend in here, nor did they survive. While Dear Author puts on airs about being ‘native’ all I see is a white lady talking into the camera. And if Dear Author wants some hero badge for half jews in her family – as far as I know, jews are people who go to synagogue. As far as I can tell, they are completely European and white, so not much mixing there.
ΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩ
ELAINE: I spent a goodly bit of my childhood in non-tourist Mexico. The people are absolutely fabulous and even when they had virtually nothing to share, they shared it with us. During the late 1950s there was a terrible drought in Sonora, for example. We went down there with a truck loaded with food donated by churches. I actually was around literally starving children. This is why I feel for the Palestinian children, for example. And felt bad for Vietnamese children during the War in Vietnam.

wc,
How to stop the fed from creating money and debasing our currency? simple – audit them and then abolish them. I believe we also should abolish fractional reserve banking, which is inherently fraudulent and allows private banks to create money out of thin air. Take the ability to create money back into the public’s hands, as our Constitution says – to Congress. Coincident with this we have to take Congress back into the people’s hands by having public financing of campaigns. End lobbying, and make it very hard for our elected officials to be bribed.
Only then will we have the awesome power of money back where it belongs, working for the good of all people, not the wealthy private interests that control the system and leach their interest payments and outrageous salaries from productive society, leaving the rest of us deep in debt.

try kennedy circ 1963
try ron paul .. senate already vetoed
sure jackle island is a long way back . and the crooks in the dead of night put the bankers in control .
but how do you limit the power of excess fiat being printed. .
maybe back fiat with special wooden sticks.. it has to be backed by something ,
here this ten , five , are the same size , same paper . what backs them .. go exchange a ten for something (it used to be gold) now 2 fives.
in the future when good gods rule .. then paper would be just fine as it would represent the productive ability of the hands
until then in god we trust but he who has the gold will rule .

And then one night when the moon was black
Into the swamp come handsome Jack
A no good man like you all know
(TALK) He was lookin` around for Marie Laveau.
He said Marie Laveau, you handsome witch
Gimme a little a little charm that`ll make me rich
Gimme a million dollars and I tell you what I`ll do
This very night, I`m gonna marry you
Then It`ll be EEEEEEEEE another man done gone.
So Marie done some magic, and she shook a little sand
Made a million dollars and she put it in his hand
Then she giggled and she wiggled, and she said Hey, Hey
I`m gettin` ready for my weddin` day.
But old handsome Jack he said goodbye Marie
You`re too damned ugly for a rich man like me
Then Marie started mumblin`, her fangs started gnashin`
Her body started tremblin`, and her eyes started flashin`
And she went EEEEEEEEE another man done gone.
So if you ever git down where the black trees grow
And meet a voodoo lady named Marie Laveau
If she ever asks you to make her your wife
Man, you better stay with her for the rest of your life….

Yes, it’s good to see the living legends like Merle. Marie Laveau always brings me back to the days of the Big Easy. It got me hip to a lot of things there. When I went looking for the sporting ladies, they seemed more fond of the soft and fat oil men, then the ship rats.

Civilization sure is rosy when you only have a 10 mile island to run around in and the weather is not hostile all year round.
Wait, such environs do not produce a civilization, so the Crete/Minoan one is pretty much imported
July 11, 2009 at 1:53 am
I hope, Simon, you get to visit Crete some day. It will take you a lot longer to walk its ‘ten miles’, more than several days, since it is a lot, lot longer than ‘ten miles’. Mountains, too.
By the way, England is a very small island compared to any continent. Ditto Japan. Think about that for a while… interesting thoughts will occur.

when the wars end inflation will erupt… thats my opinion… and by my calculation we should see moderate inflation for 2-6 more years and then iran will become a moderate state of do gooders while israel submits to a sensational paradigm of forgiveness and the world at last will rest in the arms of a beautiful understanding woman

Elaine:
As I read through this article about all of the red ink we create by just adding zeros, I also considered that our trading partners can also add (or better still, remove zeros) too.
Please think this aspect of things over and respond as to what effect this would have on the world financial situations in the long term.
From my simple perspective, I think it would truly screw things up, but I don’t have enough expertise to quite figure out exactly how.
___
Plovering:
Went to your link and checked out the article. It was a good one and appeared to be pretty much on track with what we discuss here sometimes….rather scary when a policeman begins seeing the same things we ordinary citizens see in relation to government secrecy, surveillance, plotting etc.
The article, a well written one, supposedly by a police officer, was about why citizens and his fellow policemen alike are arming themselves to the teeth with any weapons they can get their hands on. This guy identified four areas that are causing citizens to do this….and he said normally mild-mannered, usually non-political people are seeing danger from government and society and are arming themselves also. Four areas are:
1. Fear of Federal Government intrusion into our lives, forcing us at gunpoint to obey.
2. Fear of gun bans
3. Fear that there is a revolution coming, yes, a revolution on the scale of the original American Revolution….
4. Fear of resulting societal chaos.
I read through a few of the posts there, and there was someone who claimed to be an army captain who claimed that if US citizens rebelled, the US military would bring all forces to bear down upon them, Tanks, planes, Helicopters, Satellites, snipers, etc…and that he, as a Captain would be glad to lead his forces against the US rebels….it was his job.
Very interesting indeed.

There is less good news in the May trade deficit than meets the eye. Of course imports are down. Recessions have a way of doing that, just as trade declined dramatically during the Great Depression. A recession/depression is not a good way to restore a balance of trade.
The rise in exports was dominated by the “industrial supplies and materials” category, and the increase in that category was dominated by an anomaly – an increase in petroleum exports. (Yes, the U.S. does export oil.) Much of the rest is explained by inflation.
There’s been nothing done to correct the forces that drive our trade imbalance and, if and when the recession ends, it will likely return to historically high levels.

ELAINE: Hi, Pete! Glad to hear from you. Thanks for posting. I encourage everyone to read his book. It is available at Amazon.com. Yes, we export oil to Asia: Alaskan oil! People think, since we have all this oil in Alaska, it is helping us.
No, it is not. It goes towards paying for all the cars we import from Asia.

I was doing a wee bit o webstrolling today, visiting places never before visited and found a site that encouraged what small degree of humour I might naturally possess. So with further adieu:
Barefoot Charlie’s Elephant Repellant Company.
Proud member of the ambiguous collective for things unseen since time immemorial.
“Since the government won’t exercise control over the manufacture, distribution, price
and sale of shoes we are all barefoot!”
“Hey, mister, you better buy a bottle of my Elephant Repellent. If you don’t buy it, the elephants will come into the neighborhood and trample you! My proof that this stuff really works is that there are no elephants around here.” We also provide the best in flat earth navigation systems. We provide barking cats and
good government. (The way the government behaves and the adverse consequences
are not an accident, not a result of some easily corrected human mistake, but a consequence of its constitution in precisely the same way that a meow is related to the constitution of a cat.) Ignorant, Incompetent and Inexperienced and those are our customers virtues. We instantiate the unsuccessful. Megatrifle people make the best customers because they are so fearful of the might be snake in the grass that they miss the hungry bear on their ass. Moving the goalposts of Freedom, one regulation at a time. We create
smaller pigeonholes for folks. The silence of the generations long dead implies their consent to our products and policies. Spurious superficiality is our speciality.

well last night was more than great. merle haggard is indeed a living legend of country music. the warm up act was “owned by toby keith” whatever that means. once again, i misted up in the presence of actual talent. and merle opened up with some song called i think “working man can’t make it no more” and sang “the working man blues” and in between there was a lot of music about losing love, truck driving, white line fevers, railroads, prisons…lots of prison stuff, factory jobs….
and know what occured to me during the show? i started to realize how much merle belongs to the working class and about how “you” people really hate the real working man. the lefties presumed to speak for working people all my life, but they don’t. merle and others like him do. merle even has a song about how nixon and the viet nam war ruined things. but my point is this….
it was almost criminally stupid the way the left really did hate the working man in my lifetime. and if they had showed the least bit of common sense and compassion for those they presume to speak for, history would have been a lot different. i would bet the dislike and distaste of even the working class JOBS helped decide the left elites to help move the jobs overseas so lesser peoples could do them. for some reason, the lefties are in 100% agreement with the banksters and the global elites and the sophisticates and the innovative in their contempt and ridicule for those who ought to be the lefts actual natural allies….why is that i wonder.
and its always been this way. i bet a big part of the root of the filthy slave trade to the americas stems from this unreasonable dislike of the working classes even. slaves took the working mans jobs back then instead of actual working small farmers….
why i don’t know. i know those of you who are sophisticates laugh at the songs of the white working class and their trials and amusements and distractions. but this still makes no sense to me. last i knew it was the lovers of the fine arts and operas and ballets and theater on the coasts who lost all the money after deliberately losing all those crappy jobs you seem to hate that are done by the merle haggard fans. the same kind of sophisticated cultural lovers who ushered in the nazis if i remember right.
well i have to muse on this some more. but imho, the greatest and best chance our generation had to avoid the shit america is in now was lost because of the hatred and contempt of the left for the actual working class….those who presume to speak for them. why is this do you suppose.
anyone expected the elites, the owners to naturally feel superior to the working class….but the tragedy and the stupidity was the lefties….
they still to this day hate them and what they do and especially what they believe in what with their nascar and hunting and beer drinking and patriotism and their “being saved” by their working class religions which are …. for good reason imho …. not the main line protestant bought and paid for like the media and packaged and approved by the upper class first religions so the poor went in search of and found a “purer” spiritual religion that actually serves them.
all my life the working man has been shit upon by everyone and i cannot think of one thing they have ever done to deserve your disrespect. they did your heavy lifting, your dirty and boring and poorly paid jobs, they fight your wars, and they are only your last best chance to avoid your coming destruction in the wet ass hour….cause for sure your superior “education” and “intelligence” doesn’t cut it.
and merle was great. i wept a little bit at being in the world with him and those like him and those he sings for and about.

was it devaul who said he is deaf? anyway, i am losing it in a lot of ways, but until last night i never really thought of what all i would miss if i could not hear. i am becoming more and more grateful for music as i get older. the other ages had other things, but by god, we got good music of all kinds and my head spins when i think of how hard it must be to get discovered and be able to do music for a life long living. i am sorry devaul (if that is who it is). even the blind can hear. salute!

Openly hidden, I was a hippie and a lefty long ago. We supported unionizing efforts and worked hard to back up groups that were trying to establish unions. My husband was in a union.
The people who were ANTI UNION were the damn RIGHT WINGERS LIKE REAGAN! Duh!
So please grow up and read a little history, OK? Sobbing over working woe songs done by country singers is silly if the audience and the singer don’t sing about union struggles against the big banks and the government.
July 11, 2009 at 1:56 pm
P.S. About fighting ‘our’ wars, since my birth, the ONLY wars our military have fought were imperialist ventures set into motion to control peasants and exploit their resources. Anyone working along with our new mercenary military (not a citizen’s military since Nixon) is fighting for money, not for nation.
So even the dimmest propaganda points that our military supports our freedoms has vanished. And this is also why it is so expensive: all our ‘defense’ spending is actually looting of the masses by dumping immense debts on future generations, all for killing the poorest peasants on earth.
July 11, 2009 at 1:58 pm
So it is your contention that the working man is willing to be shit upon over and over and over again? Shit on me once, shame on you; shit on me twice … won’t be shat again.
It is true that the Madoffs of the world seldom bother with the financially less well endowed. Retail mugging is governmental monopoly, the government is rigourous in protecting its feeding grounds. I think I would appreciate nascar more if they turned right but noooo just another bunch of guys turning left all day. Today I have a choice, go to the tractor pull or the Local Renaissance Faire or muck about with the bridgeport I found the other day.
Someday, Merle should do a cover of the Who’s Tommy. “That deaf dumb and blind kid sure plays a mean pinball.”
July 11, 2009 at 2:02 pm
We used to have our ox team, Chip and Dale, the biggest oxen in America, appear on TV and at county fairs, pulling stuff. They barely noticed it when we hitched them to heavy oak trees. It was amazing watching them pause, feel the load, and then lean forwards and off they went, slow but steady. They could flip cars with their horns, too.
Real popular at fairs. Since they were gentle and kind, small children could pet them and feed them. And they loved beer and could pick up beer bottles and chug them down. People loved seeing that. Since they weighed a ton and a half each, a bottle of beer was like a thimble of beer, to us.
July 11, 2009 at 2:02 pm
@Ems:
Nixon’s army was a slave army with a few praetorians to lead it, it was the same army that Wilson, Rooseveldt, Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson had and that Lincoln started.
Conscription is just slavery with more letters and more loopholes.
July 11, 2009 at 2:07 pm
When I was a kid, my grandad kept a few horses around the farm. Worked them a bit, rode them a bit, just cause he liked them I think. Never had oxen. Shame you did not or could not replace your team … money in oxen and mules and working horses for them as has the knowledge and the land to breed and train them.
July 11, 2009 at 2:15 pm
i repeat this unpleasant fact. the fascist left in is league with the global corporations and banksters. you need each other to do your thing….which you hope is control. and the lefts scorn and contempt for those they presume to speak for is obvious. i don’t need to read no sophist revisionist “history” written by smug pretentious 1960’s “intellectuals” who only believe in “saul alinskis rules for radicals”.
your blather about unions only extends so far as you all expected to run them….for the people of course.
July 11, 2009 at 2:19 pm
i don’t think it is a conspiricy to understand the russian revolution was made possible by the same people, the same piggy money “elites” in league with the fascist left even. the “educated” and “intellectual” fascist left actually expect the corrupt global money illuminatti will let you have control over the actual people when your revolution is done. the fascist left has the same concern for true working men and women as our dear leader in north korea does i think.
July 11, 2009 at 2:24 pm
the lefts every comment drips with condescension towards the actual working class and their concerns and their beliefs. how utterly smug….how completely beyond belief their actual stupidity. how evil is the two faced, two sided coin of your fiat realm. now look what you have done. want to be anal control freaks that cannot control themselves, skilled only in sophistry.
July 11, 2009 at 2:50 pm
hahahah! my people can do very well without both the smug, pretentious, sophist 1960’s left and the piggy demonic global wanna be fiat money aristocracy. and know what else? we are a hell of a lot better people …. and turns out, smarter too. hahahahah!
===========================
COUNTRY BOY CAN SURVIVE
The preacher man says it’s the end of time
And the Mississippi River she’s a goin’ dry
The interest is up and the Stock Markets down
And you only get mugged
If you go down town
I live back in the woods, you see
A woman and the kids, and the dogs and me
I got a shotgun rifle and a 4-wheel drive
And a country boy can survive
Country folks can survive
I can plow a field all day long
I can catch catfish from dusk till dawn
We make our own whiskey and our own smoke too
Ain’t too many things these ole boys can’t do
We grow good ole tomatoes and homemade wine
And a country boy can survive
Country folks can survive
Because you can’t starve us out
And you cant makes us run
Cause one-of- ‘em old boys raisin ole shotgun
And we say grace and we say Ma’am
And if you ain’t into that we don’t give a damn
We came from the West Virginia coalmines
And the Rocky Mountains and the and the western skies
And we can skin a buck; we can run a trot-line
And a country boy can survive
Country folks can survive
I had a good friend in New York City
He never called me by my name, just hillbilly
My grandpa taught me how to live off the land
And his taught him to be a businessman
He used to send me pictures of the Broadway nights
And I’d send him some homemade wine
But he was killed by a man with a switchblade knife
For 43 dollars my friend lost his life
Id love to spit some beechnut in that dudes eyes
And shoot him with my old 45
Cause a country boy can survive
Country folks can survive
Cause you can’t starve us out and you can’t make us run
Cause one-of- ‘em old boys raisin ole shotgun
And we say grace and we say Ma’am
And if you ain’t into that we don’t give a damn
We’re from North California and south Alabam
And little towns all around this land
And we can skin a buck; we can run a trot-line
And a country boy can survive
Country folks can survive
July 11, 2009 at 2:59 pm
i would say there wasn’t a sophist anal control freak godless parasite in the crowd last night. you — the fascist left AND the global fiat money illuminatti — cannot exist unless the real people are divided and you all study up on that sure enough.
July 11, 2009 at 3:09 pm
Made the shotgun myself, and the rifle too
and the four wheel drive as well.
Refine my own gasoline when I’m a mind too
Otherwise just ride my thumb
And made the still for the mountain dew
and dug my own deep well.
Ran a trot line till the minks died out
and then the deer got thinned by the flatlanders
and the stuff in the stream
has made the boy fish girls and gave my dogs
the glanders.
The store that supplied the needles and thread
and the notions and bow for her hair
Is now the union’s steward’s place
and a country boy can’t work there.
In the tiny towns in Upper PA and lower New York too
Don’t have much business nor much work but each one got a place that tattoos
A country boy can survive
just as long as there are places that thrive
places that make
places the supply
all the things that allow the country boy to be so
goddam overbearingly smug in his independence and self righteous crapola.
But the fine thing about country boys
is that as soon as there is more than three
the deer all disappear and the mink all die
Ain’t no Jeremiah Johnsons among the Toby Keith set or the very well to do country bumpkin singers of songs of cheating trucks and misfiring girlfriends and 4 wheel dogs.

@OH
Any preachers, or government employees in the crowd, any god fearin parishioneers among the gaiety, any Heros Of The Nation, First Responders, Flag Humpers, Officers of the Law.
You were surrounded by anal control freak parasites. Now ol Merle has been known to inhale a bit o mother nature … when the parasites aren’t around. Did he toke up on stage last night?
Always somebody wanting to be all up in other folk’s money, all up in other folk’s behaviour.
Usually they want to be all up in both and have guns and badges and government paychecks to back their desires.
July 11, 2009 at 3:46 pm
OH:
Nixon took us off the gold standard, and the bastard kept the war in Vietnam going six more years after promising to end it…invaded Cambodia and caused the murder of a couple of million more Asians, and then our former enemies, the Vietnamese, had to go to war in Cambodia and stop the g..damned horrible killing that we caused there. And the Vietnamese had to do this after they had suffered so much kicking our sorry asses out of their own country.
Then old silver tongue Ronnie Reagan took over and now we have well-paid, Murder Incorporated (for hire to the highest bidders all around the world) as our protectors…
Some protectors when someone claiming to be an army captain says that he will have no problem rolling M-1 Abrams heavy battle tanks over fellow citizens if they rebel against thievery and malfeasance and being driven into lasting poverty by financiers and bankers and fascist feudal oligarchs and other stupid dickheads in high places.
You can listen to old Merle idealize being a poor, but morally upright working American all you want, and become teary eyed at the prospect, but I would rather see an upbeat, unionized, working thriving, progressive middle class myself.
I do not care to slip off the cliff into grinding, hopeless poverty, because you know what OH, it won’t be nearly as much fun as Merle sings about in his songs. In fact, once most of the nation goes there, they will not feel like singing very much at all.
Wife and I had 40 bucks and a Chevy worth 600 bucks (with payments) and a few clothes when we got married…so, I can truthfully say, been there done that.
And I’ve worked as a farmer, heavy truck mechanic, soldier, auto mechanic, technology teacher, arborist and timber buyer and logger…and, by god, I have never yet seen any benefit of being a down-in-the-mouth poor person.
After passing through the joke we call public schools, I soon realized just how pitifully dumb I really was, and began immediately trying to remedy that by educating myself. I worked full-time and aside from some earned scholarships, I paid every dime of expenses out of my pocket myself, some it with physical labors, and after the dear crowd under Bush decided to downgrade education, I sent my last child through four years of college with a log truck and chainsaw, and I’ve did a lot of the carpenter work on his studio myself, with my own two arthritic hands.
But I still try to learn, and to influence other folks to be better people, and to become indignant at malfeasance, just like when I taught high school.
I read Elaine because she is smart and always tries very hard to back up what she says with some form of REASONABLE THINKING.
I personally don’t give a flying fart in the wind whether a person has a college degree or not. I know smart people with degrees and without degrees, but I don’t know many smart people who do not use REASON to think things through.
REASON is LIBERALISM.
And Elaine and I do not always agree, and you will note when we do go at it tooth and nail like we did over the 9/11 thing, we both tried to back our arguments with REASONABLE, rational thinking…and accused each other of slipping away from reason as the main basis for our differences. However…I venture to say that even though we did not agree with each other, we both were closer any truth there was than someone who wipes his or her tears from their eyes and tells us how the “felt” about that subject.
You see, OH, LIBERALISM is NOT off the cuff superstitions, high flying emotions, artsy fartsey, right brain, “I just feel” this way or that without proof of what you are saying.
TRUE LIBERALISM requires rational thought, and this means that if A is this, it means B might happen which could lead to C. And if C occurs, then, that most likely will lead to D, but if D does not occur, then it could lead to another set of results which would then have to be classified according to what is going on.
Or we might think of things this way.
1. List all possible things that might be causing a problem.
2. Analyze what we know about the problem.
3. If it is not likely that this or that or the other is causing the problem, then, the remaining thing that is left is probably causing the problem.
This is called DEDUCTIVE Reasoning….and deductive reasoning is a part of Liberalism.
In fairness to you OH, I will give your theory about intellectuals screwing up things a little credibiltiy.
Intellectuals can be led astray just as easily as ignorant bumpkins, often more easily, because they will wrap their heads around too many problems at the same time and thus, confuse the issues. That is what elites love and want. They love to frame and throw out an issue that already has predetermined criteria and obvious solutions.
So this is why we must all go back to what I keep preaching, what Marcus Arielus, said in his “Meditations” (not a quote) that we must look at the nature of the thing and then see if the basic issues we are presented with is worthy of our reasoning it through.
For example,
Statement….We must support our brave boys and girls who go to fight our evil enemies in distant Afghanistan. The are protecting us from those who hate us for our freedoms and want to destroy us, and and so on.
Liberal Thinking,
What is in Afghanistan? Just who are they? Why would they have genuine cause to hate us? What is this bullshit about our freedoms and what would that have to do with them there in Afghanistan wanting to hate us?
So, if you apply a little LIBERAL REASONING, the entire argument crumbles…and the only truth that remains is that our boys and girls are brave…misled, but brave.
So, OH, without intellectual thought, you will have difficulty getting through complex issues and coming to a good conclusion.
And, Oh, you and Merle can worship the goodness of poverty if you want, but I want us all to prosper a little and to benefit from a minimally satisfying lifestyle, and not live in grinding poverty.
Love you man, and I hope I’m not being to hard on you.

Sooo many words about the trade deficit. The truth is very simple: We have a trade deficit because we buy more than we produce.
Solution: Buy less and produce more. Problem solved.
Really, the only question worth discussing is how can production be increased? Does anybody have any good idea?

It appears the Chinese are getting ready to tee it up and play some hardball with the US of A. I’m betting Chinese rhetoric will be getting harsher and harsher from now on. Paul, Hu said that he couldn’t go to the G8 thing because he had to deal with the riots in Xinjiang. http://online.wsj.com/article/BT-CO-20090707-716651.html I thought at the time that sounded ridiculous. Maybe he’s having his representative criticize the dollar as a way of saying “Tell your mass-media to quit making such a fuss about the rioting, or look what happens.”
July 11, 2009 at 7:38 pm
RS: we can’t just ‘produce’ stuff if we allow foreign goods produced with cheap labor, come pouring in. Anyone who tries to ‘produce’ here will be killed by the competition.
Paul, the Chinese keep mentioning the obvious because it is obvious. Then, they pet our New World Order leaders who then think, all is well. The Chinese wonder if they should follow the 50 Year Plan or simply make the whole thing blow up, now. A serious debate in China!

street paved with gold
coin
Jim Sinclair’s Commentary
The symbol of a new world currency – the G8 Gold coin.
The Russians gave the currency of the future to the G8 which is Gold. That is the truth, like it or not!
The subtle nature of the Russian gift to the G8 and BRIC nations has eluded all commentary and as well our esteemed leaders.
The inscription on the coin was ” Unity in Diversity.” This inscription in the Christian tradition can be aligned with “I am the vine and you are the fruit of the vine.” It might be aligned with the mystical body of Christ of which all are considered one.
In the Gnostic tradition is would simply be the Gnostic Gospel of St. John.
In the Hindu tradition it is pure Vedantic philosophy.
Unity in Diversity can be considered in higher physics as the big bang theory, black holes or quantum mechanics theory.
The bottom line is that Unity in Diversity in hundreds of disciplines and persuasion means TRUTH. The Russians gave the currency of the future to the G8, which is gold. That is the TRUTH, like it or not!

@David- “…someone who claimed to be an army captain who claimed that if US citizens rebelled, the US military would bring all forces to bear down upon them, Tanks, planes, Helicopters, Satellites, snipers, etc…and that he, as a Captain would be glad to lead his forces against the US rebels….it was his job.”
That may be possible even if the citizens rise up in unison, ’til the military runs out of fuel and ammunition and the troops don’t get paid or even fed. (Hint: China won’t bail ‘em out.) If the military does crack down, good luck to the citizens’ ability to keep and bear their firearms!
July 11, 2009 at 8:35 pm
If the story about the military person looking forward to butchering Patriots here is true, I would love to know where the military thinks it will get it’s money from to wage domestic war. Since they will be killing the source of their paychecks.
Something tells me that China won’t bankroll civil war. And the revolutionaries here will fight like the revolutionaries in the Middle East. Slow guerilla triage fighting until the military runs out of money. And it will run out. People with nothing to lose are in for the long haul. People who want money, mercenaries, are not.

It is not difficult to find a braggart among the uniformed or among the uninformed either.
@WC was that offer in FRN/slave points or was it 27.3 oz of the good stuff?
Unfortunately, the Pronina article neglects to mention the metallic content of the coin Medvedev showed around today. Probably just an acceptable reportorial mistake, neglecting to mention the metal content or the weight. And how kewl is it that the inscription is in English …
If it is gold,
If it circulates freely
It will disappear from circulation very quickly.

well i am back. lets see what is new at elaines. hummm. “liberalism”? what do you people know about true “liberalism”? i am a liberal, a true liberal. many who fly under that flag actually seek to deceive.
what is at stake here for the two sides of the fiat counterfeit coin, the globalist illuminatti and the fascist left is no less than….
directing the flow of all power and money through their own stinking hands first. heh. simple enough to understand the old good cop/bad cop routine that goes on in the world of power politics that way isn’t it.
lots in the news today about the hoped for global government isn’t there. run by whom? for whose benefit? the workers? do you believe that seriously? what is happening in the workers paradise to the workers? workers lined up in disciplined ranks and rows ready for their days labor in the fascist factories owned by their own illuminatti.
i bet al gor gets a hard on thinking of his hoped for place in the world government elite if he gets to help organize and run with the pope (!) and the workers paradise slaves and the global corporations and banksters and control all wealth and power in the world to them and through them. think this isn’t in the works?
now i gotta run again.

“directing the flow of all money and power through their own hands first.”
===========================
remember that for the future. and why would anyone want that? for control. for their own glorification. so they can literally eat you and drink your milkshake.
hahahahahah!
liberals! i am the true liberal i would say. heh. i define liberal. i am liberal. and i am reality.
got to work on a tractor now.

and anyone that doesn’t recognize true protest songs are simply…. well i don’t know where to begin. you hate my people and you love yourselves. you are the people who owned slaves, not me. you are the ones who created the horrors of the 20th century concentration camps, not me. you are the ones who work to keep the people divided and stupid, not me. and you are the ones who are being duped into working for your precious NEW WORLD ORDER. not me and not my people. all my people want is a little bit of lovin and lots of beer on a friday night. and catfish. and cars. and coon hunting. and sports.
speaking of sports, of course you all would rise up in indignitation if i told you sports, the military, and the black and white little peoples made up churches were responsible for obama being possible. hahahahah! i know the freedom fighting liberals marched in the south back in the day, but whose march was it? you sophists claim your march, your progress. but it was the black church that did it. you all just saw an opportunity. and in return, you destroyed the black and my white peoples families. and the black churches and the made up little peoples poor white churches are the ones who put peoples lives back together again. not your suffocationg government liberal programs got to go….no proof read. but more attacks are coming. hahahahaha! i know you!@

I did some noodling around the web today looking for some estimates of some things.
Estimate 1 ) In the totality of the history of the world, the best estimate is that about 5.1 billion troy ounces of gold have been mined from the earth. Almost all of it is still here, a few pounds have been used in space satellites and probes.
Estimate 2 ) The totality of the productive output of the world in 2008 is about $60 trillion ( $60,000 billion as merkins count numbers ).
Estimate 3 ) The totality of world trade ( 2002 estimate ) was $6.6 trillion
Estimate 4 ) In 2008, the over the counter derivatives market was estimated to have notional value of $600 Trillion
Estimate 5 ) The same article gave an estimate of the value of all stocks, bonds, bank accounts of $167 trillion.
Estimate 6 ) the world’s population is about 6.6 billion.
Estimate 7 ) 1 in 5 people in the world have/use the internet. 1 in 2 people in the world make less than $2 a day.
Divide all the $ values by 20 to account for the destruction of the value of the dollar since the inception of the Federal Reserve.
I will leave it as an exercise for the class to determine how much an ounce of gold should be worth in the sense of being that against which a paper currency can be redeemed if the holder of the paper currency wishes to redeem said currency.

well my day is finally done. hi PayAttention. you said: “Marie Laveau always brings me back to the days of the Big Easy…” and that you were a “ship rat”? heh. i spent some time in new orleans. i remember one evening at “dixies boarding house”, which was a private house run by some women who rented men rooms by the week and served table groaning family style meals….anyway, i had spent the day talking with someone from the …. lets see….the seamans merchant union? or something like that? they wanted to hire me i was a young man fresh out of the service and somehow the union might send me to some sort of “officers” school? anyway, god they had some interesting stories to tell about life up and down the mississippi river then across the seas. and that night i spent visiting until dawn at dixies with a fellow border who had been in the merchant marine during world war 2 and on cargo ships the rest of his life. he would tell me stories like you wouldn’t believe. sigh. and the dancer at a bar in the french quarter….she “danced” in a huge champaign glass i believe it was. anyway, i remember asking her how come there were so many beautiful ladies in new orleans. she told me for girls of the south (back then) their choice if they wanted adventure and to get out of their little towns was either atlanta or new orleans. anyway, i loved new orleans.
===========================
well i might as well get this off my chest elaine. i just came back from visiting my oldest daughter and her 3 year old baby girl at the womans lockup/rehab last chance or hell place. i picked up my 5 year old grandson and brought him home. i am at the least “touchy” about you …. i refuse to call you “reasonable liberals” cause you aren’t….anyway, here is a true story about what has happened to the people here in my little community. meth meth and more meth. and all your fault! you deliberately decided (see saul ailensky for the particulars) to destroy the nucleus of a stable workable society so your fucking fascist left and the global banksters could take opportunity of crisis and confusion to “rebuild”society in your own image is the best way i can put it. you did it to the black people and you did it to the rural white people. fortunately the mexicans around here still seem like family and church oriented. you so far haven’t ruined them yet i don’t think. anyway, you deliberately took from the little peole just about all they had to lean on and then you spit on them every chance you get. and i remember oh 20-30 years ago, the little churches around here had a couple dozen church goers every sunday. and all my friends and acquaintances got their lives turned inside out and a lot of them died and a lot more had drug problems and problems with the law and of course divorces all over. and then the most interesting thing started to happen anyway, little by little, the people got their asses into alcoholics anonymous and narcotics anonymous and gave their problems and their lives to some “higher power” that you stupidly sneer at and slowly got themselves cleaned up. and now, where those two little churches at one time could hardly stay open, now so many of my former drinking and fighting and fucking buddies and their women-folk go to those little poor peoples made up churches they have to run shifts for services on sundays.
so don’t expect me to pass lightly by your ignorant remarks about our “blood religions”….cause you haven’t a clue. you are just repeating what the fascist left puts out trying to destroy the people.
i have confidence the fascist left and the global piggies will fail building their NEW WORLD ORDER version of the killing fields of hell though. look at what has happened to you lately.
1. your main line churches that were infiltrated by your kind deliberately to destroy faith have essentially been made moot by the evangelical churches and other homemade new spiritually pure churches for the poor.
2. your “elite” universities have pretty well been discredited now. here is where the infection first spread into america a century ago.
3. your bought and paid for and employing only your fucking acolytes who were used to being the gate keepers for information and disseminating propaganda by our owners and treasonous left academics and agitators are going broke and are discredited.
4. the unions you hoped to infiltrate and manipulate as your personal power mostly were destroyed by your own stupidity and greed.
5. the global banks have exploded and all can see what they are really all about.
6. ditto the “two party system” of bought and paid for politicians running things into the ground for you
all in all, it looks like we redneck hillbillys and black and brown working folk have been delivered from evil by something good, don’t you think.
============================
one last thing. about the local churches. i don’t go to any of them. nobody i know believes more than i do, but they can be a surly lot if the ministers are questioned too closely. so i stay away. but i know what is going on with the folk. and here is a thing for you to ponder, when i was listing the things done (to the younger generations mostly) by my generation of vipers, i forgot to mention that my generation is completely ok with going all in to try and save their mangy asses and their egoistic dreams of having all wealth and power in the world passing through their world government hands so they can literally do as they see fit. one reason i cannot go to a church around here is i see things different than most. for example, in deuteronomy the good book speaks of the unspeakable… of women, mothers eating their babies (in the destruction of jerusalem actually it turned out) to feed themselves. and merle haggard had a nice line in one of his songs about poor working man starving himself to feed his family. anyway, look at what my generation has done….i.e. the same thing. i.e. we are literally consumed our own children to save yourselves and your fucked up fascist totalitarian dream. hahahahah!
and fyi…. Marie Laveau is hooked into the same power that supports all too. but she has to stay in the swamps. its all the same everywhere at all times. and so are you people and what you want to do to the rest of us too.
by god now surely i am done!
July 12, 2009 at 2:04 am
so am i crazy or not CK? heh. or should i just tend to my own business and watch what happens and hope for the best.
good night. tomorrow will be a better day. wait! and what the hell is with the pope all of a sudden wanting world government. and the chinese politburo meeting about the catholic religion somehow being used to unite chinamen? what is with that? the catholic church does good things for the mexicans. and al gore saying his climate warming scheme will further global government? its happening isn’t it. goody. i say it is desperate white evil illuminatti totalitarian beasts trying to save their asses and their evil schemes. but maybe i am crazy.
July 12, 2009 at 2:04 am
I got your family hooked on meth? Wow. I am a god!
On the other hand, um, I used to do drug counseling at the SF Free Clinic. I specialized in taking care of people on heroin, LSD and SPEED. I had a big fat sign that said ‘SPEED KILLS’. But back in 1969, speed was LEGAL. Doctors gave women speed so they could lose weight, for example.
I’ll never forget the housewives who would gingerly show up and whisper to me, ‘Am I an addict?’ I would say, ‘Yes.’
Well…we demanded the government warn people that speed was very dangerous and very addictive. But people seem to want it because it wakes them up and gets them hopping around. Girls want to be skinny!
Is this my fault? When did the first anorexic fashion model show up and how old were the old men who hired Twiggy and shoved her starving face in the media?
Why, those pesky WWII vets! Um…HAHAHAHA… geeze.
See? If you want to talk about social forces at work, guess what was at work back in 1969: mass media TV. And did mass media TV love us hippies?
NO! They hated us. They abused us. And the biggest drug addicts in the USA back in 1969 were consuming uppers and downers prescribed by doctors! And drinking booze, of course. Note that most pop entertainers and movie personalities die due to booze and legal pills. Starting with that dopey woman, Marilyn Manroe.

“Bremer was on the international advisory board for the Japanese mining and machinery company, Komatsu. At the time, Komatsu had been involved in a joint venture agreement with Dresser Industries, the oil-services/intelligence front in which Prescott Bush Sr. and George H. W. Bush got their start with Neil Mallon. The Komatsu-Dresser mining division operated from 1988 to 1997. In July 1996, it patented a thermite demolition device that could “demolish a concrete structure at a high efficiency, while preventing a secondary problem due to noise, flying dust and chips, and the like.”[25] Residues of thermite, the highly energetic chemical mixture, have been confirmed in samples of the WTC dust, and the use of thermite at the WTC was also revealed by environmental data.[1, 2, 3, 4, 26] Dresser Industries merged with Dick Cheney’s Halliburton in 1998.”

From the local real estate flyer ” june sales up 40%”,,, ”Junes numbers were comparable to sales achieved during the same month in 06 & 07 during the strongest real estate cycle in fraser valley history” Sounds like just the thing to ignite another bubble.
Mean while our BC government is now running a 1.5? bil deficit suddenly up from 500 mil. So I guess that explains the apparent prosperity in the face of recession. We have new bridges everywhere, they could save 3bil with just one. Oh and new housing for the homeless at $450k /unit!!, who will stay on the streets.

All people in military and law enforcement take an oath to defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic …
The military regularly reminds all its people of their constitutional obligations and duties.
No sworn officer is allowed to “just follow orders.” Indeed, none may obey an unlawful order.

Eric Holder might appoint a special prosecutor to lead a torture probe.

Eric says some stuff he discovered was going on at black sites needs investigating…even if Obama co. doesn’t want it to happen.
Maybe others, and Obama co. too are beginning to see that this evil just cannot be swept under the rug and it just will not go away on its own.
The US, under Bush, and now, with Obama also, has nearly completely destroyed its credibility in the eyes of the entire world with this evil stuff.
And nobody is going to give any kind of respect to the US from now on unless a gun is pointed directly in their face…unless these evil sins are faced and exorcised from the US body politic.

OH:
It disturbs me to hear about your difficulties with family…I’ve had a few episodes over the years with family also…and its the hardest burden of all to bear…I really do feel for you.
And, as you take that grandson and ride him with you on the tractor, you take the time to talk to him often and you sit down with him and teach him practical things, and your good values….and don’t expect the schools to do this for you…..ever….administrators and teachers just go along with the PTB to keep their jobs.
Liberals did not create meth labs or create the other evil things like wars for profit and torture…from 1913 on. It is the wealthy oligarchs and the greedy power brokers who run this nation from Wall Street and their foundations and think tanks…and they are responsible for our warmongering also, in conjunction with contractors who sell weapons.
They could care less what we citizens do as long as we don’t bother them, and they can show big profits.
The 60s liberal movement came about to counter these evil warmongers and elites….The drug companies created legal Meth and gave it to housewives as Elaine noted…that’s where it came from.
The CIA, under conservatives, in the 1950s, created LSD as a mind control drug, and the hippies decided that it was fun so they used it. And, if you read a little further, many many drugs are imported into the US by people in high places, and these people are not reasonable Liberals, but ultra conservative folks who just want to get rich at the expense of everyone around them. They don’t give a damn about me or you or your daughter…they just want more money and power…and that is not reasonable and it is not liberal.
OH, I know you are bitter, but don’t take it out on people who try to think reasonably, and follow the golden rule of “do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” That too is a basis for liberal thinking.
Recent failures in Christian churches came about because they hooked their little wagons to the conservative political movement, from Reagan to Bush, and then, they were betrayed.
The Catholic Church has had to learn, time and time again that when it becomes openly political, it begins to falter. Then, it regroups, and spreads its influence by indoctrinating its flock in certain ways of thinking. The little churches you talk about will have to learn the same things if they want to help their flocks.
Fundamentalist Christians had to learn the hard way that politicians cannot be trusted, and all political ideologies eventually fail…and if your religion is attached to such ideologies, it will fail also.
OH, I will be thinking about you and your family, and I really hope things improve for you and your loved ones.
July 12, 2009 at 7:51 am
‘The 60s liberal movement came about to counter these evil warmongers and elites….’
Students for a Democratic Society did. They addressed people by name or title, as opposed to ‘man’, wore the same clothes as their classmates and tried to stand out for their ideas, more so than their freak out element. The self absorbed hippie young ladies on Ashbury doing the anti Isadora Duncan weird hand dances (someone inspired John Travolta) while twirling about haphazardly in ruffled long skirts – don’ think so. Once the freak quotient became the copulating call, where was it going to stop? Boys about to ship out from McClellan came to Ashbury and thought they were going to get a little free love. They actually believed in these hand twirling tie die fake revolutionaries, that’s why they did not burn their draft cards. Discovering pacificism for the first time in your life when the natives actually shot back is not much of a mental leap, just like burning the card was not very courageous, but shipping out of McClellan, because you believed in these free loading girls, yes it was. So just because these cropped headed boys were shipping out and they believed in you, dear hippie, you could have given them a roll. Who knows, maybe that was the last one they were ever going to get. But, as you told them, love is free, but sex is going to cost them, eh? Guess it gives you a bit of comfort to wrap yourself in the stars and stripes ex posto facto.
OH, saddened to hear about your family. If it’s meth, yes, it’s the perfect American drug for our times. Don’t need to eat, don’t need to drink, don’t need to sleep – just work til you burned your wick to the end, or just stay in your room one day til you no longer have the strength to get up.
July 12, 2009 at 8:43 am
in the main nobody did it to nobody .
this pointing fingers at others is an excuse in script reading .
Nothing can happen in your experience . unless it is an outpicturing of your own consciousness.
and until and when this is owned and accepted and changed then always and forever it will keep repeating like ground hog day.
and the more lengthy the outward cry.. the more a person is stewing in their own personal journey. And until this changes all is not well.
The laws of the cosmos reside in your self .. change your thinking . in fact quit thinking . Listen to the thunder of silence . and see a new day . But this new day is born out of your own self . and is not dependent on others or their actions . That is a misbelief..
Their are no limitations external to your self . Be free…
July 12, 2009 at 8:56 am
WC. We are born. Then we die. Those are limitations.
July 12, 2009 at 9:24 am
these limitation are only the worlds belief system ,, no “one” is born no “one” dies. stand aside.
and what makes you believe “you” will die . the limitation is not external is it because you see other bodys die. this is an internal belief. but until “you” die .. and see their is not death. the body is not you . it is a glove ,, do not get the Descartes before the horse , i think therefore i am . i am the thinker not the body
physics 101
July 12, 2009 at 9:36 am
pay attention
you skip over much , to make a non point. the yabber here has been what others have done to make my world bad,
i replyed nobody has done any thing to any ones world .. all this stuff is script writing ,, and done to one’s self. we are the makers and doers of our own destiny, nobody has power of the course of ones journey .
be free, no one has power over the external others . the only power we have is to experience our own experience . change that .
we have no idea What others experience . as all the others are your creation . your dream . your life.
let life change the outer dream , by dissolving the dream.. “what is” overcomes the dream.
what isnot is the dream..
July 12, 2009 at 9:42 am

Sounds beautiful and very spiritual…and all of the personal responsibility stuff is good in normal circumstances…if you are a believer…I can get er done by myself.
However, I wonder how some of the distant folks who we claim are our enemies, feel about all of this when we have some kid back here with his computer and joystick use our flying robots to shoot missiles at his house and kill his entire family. I guess its all their fault for being born in that particular region of the world and for caring for their homeland.
Ah, but the believer and his entire family can just float away in the clouds I guess…and then maybe they can forgive the kid with the joystick who shot the missiles that killed them.

Thank god all the fuss and feathers will only involve red-blooded, god fearing, jesus loving merkins. That leaves those of us whose blood is mostly scotch and who neither fear nor love foolishly to keep on keeping on. And just like the faux riots elsewhere it will all be youtubed.
I can see it now, the hordes of oakies bubbling up to where again? Arkansas, the empty fields of Nebraska.
You want something to be concerned with how about this? Potato Blight is back.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20090710/us_nm/us_blight_usa buried among the dross of lamestream Friday night news. And where are these blighted plants? For sale, now, at your local walmart or sears or k-mart or independent garden center.
You think Mr White Person is getting all up in arms because the US govt is upping its theft of his non-income from 25% to 26%? Wait until the price of McDonald’s fries goes through the roof and the obese millions in urbania go waddling off looking for their tater tot fix. Fear the wrath of those folks not the hot air of some lameass preacher.
Oh the humanity
Great gobs of obese waddlers
searching for their tater fix
trashing the McDonalds
and the white towers
queening the burger king
blowing up the windys
Sssssing the Rbies
And with no taters they will be reduced to trying to eat leafy green things like grass or oak leaves
But there is a bright side
At top waddle speed
it will take almost 5 years for the urban obese
to make it to the nearest suburb
on foot
You can probably scratch up a defense in that time.

Plovering:
Really glad you posted that link…
Rev. Manning and long-legged, MacDaddy.
Watched Rev. Manning’s talk. He might be spotting what I’ve also considered several times, that Obama co. was set up to oversee the US decline and be the bad guys who are charged with putting down any resulting upheavals since Obama would be a ready target for those who need someone to blame for the looting expedition and installation of corporate totalitarianism that has been done by our elites and their lackeys.
If as the good Reverend says, upheavals come….a ready made scapegoat for closet racists to hate and attack while they ignore where a lot of our wealth is really going…on distant corporatists projects, and to our non-productive ally and toward moving corporate manufacturing and markets across the globe, and to hell with middle class working America.
Rev. Manning has, in my view, wisely spotted this, and he knows the predictable results…as the population sinks further into poverty and citizen wealth declines. He also knows that the PTB might actually be throwing the Black race under the bus, and actually betraying their long, hard stuggle to gain an equal place in America.
I’ll have to wait and see if the Reverend’s predictions come true, or if some other wise powers might put a stop to the decline….as I suspect that we do have a great many black people in positions of power in the military and in other areas of government….Eric Holder being one of them.
So, a question Plovering…Obama?…scapegoat or judas goat or just an ordinary sucker? Or maybe he might grow some big kahonas and start cleaning the mess up? Difficult choice for him, and especially Michelle who is the driving force behind the man and the one who belongs to CFR….the wellspring of Obama’s political power.

@David
a big kahuna is not the same as a pair of oversized cojones.
and this dan bao’s for you
July 12, 2009 at 1:38 pm
the point david i think is no matter what you think, you are not “getting it done by yourself”. there is what you really are and there is what you think you are. and the original point of the blood religions as elaine calls them is there is something else, a greater power than “you” that is keeping things going more or less so far and if the support of this power ends, then you have done it to yourself, not some blood god looking for kicks. heh.
i told my daughter she is the one that choses to wake up every morning the helpless manipulated manipulating thing she seems to be. she did so good for over 2 years! they claim meth is very, very addictive to females especially and i was told that there are lots and lots of residential places for women and their kids who live in a very restricted environment for half a year or more trying to learn how to live without the drug and a long waiting list to get in….and of course, this program is losing its funding too soon. (it appears the men simply go to jail)
about families….around here, it is becoming apparent that within the same family, one kid will be more or less mentally strong and healthy and go about their life as best they can and another kid raised the same way from the same family will seem to deliberately choose to walk on the dark side of things. i feel guilty that i somehow did this to her i.e. payback because of all the great dastardly fun i had when i was younger….maybe i didn’t defy the odds and keep on living instead of dying…. only now do i appreciate what i must have put my family through. however i have heard that what does not kill you makes you stronger.
and david, thanks. and conspiracy or not, wc is right for how i see things. instead of letting it (the disappearance of my old world and blaming it on the fascist left and the global illuminatti) cripple me, i can instead go about my living this life i am experiencing now and here as best i can and not cripple myself….cause there actually is no my self, only what is living me now. is this right? heh. but this still does not change the inexcusablity of the killer apes among us.
and wc, months and months ago, i mentioned discovering “looking” up into the inside top of my skull behind my eyes and not thinking and was jeered and hooted at by others. and thanks for reminding me. it is amazing what comes of trying to do that. heh. but most do not want to silence themselves, and experience what is and maybe discover something more ….cause that does insult to the monsterous egos. by god, i should have not forgotten that. but david is right….and so is wc…. so i will do kens stoik again….
oh and merle haggard had to finish with oke from muskogee but he made us pretend we hadn’t ever heard of the evil herb….merle and the band actually seem to be somewhat appreciative of the natural weed. merle had himself a fine life and seems to have appreciated every bit of it. and is thankful. good luck merle. maybe not such good luck next time. heh.

It is life and death literally for Obama to stop the death machine. Instead, he has sat down at the controls and is trying to use them as if he were a white ruling class guy like Bush, for example. Any mistakes he makes will be taken off of his hide. He thinks he will have the same protections as Powell but Powell wielded absolutely no power, he was a front man.
Obama isn’t a front man, he is the head boss man. Therefore, he must do the right thing or else. America has had a long series of war criminals running the White House.

usually we are born, it sucks to be us, then we die. however, i will attempt to do better. and find out who this rev manning fellow is. and not become even more paranoid. and look up look within quiet more too. and scotch for blood that was funny. i got to lose weight too.

Hey man, he’s YOUR cultural hero, and despite his claims that the song is sarcastic, there was a clear effort at selling to the culture wars in 1969.
Leftist loving banksters, are you frackin’ nuts?
“Have you seen the little piggies
Crawling in the dirt
And for all the little piggies
Life is getting worse
Always having dirt to play around in.
Have you seen the bigger piggies
In their starched white shirts
You will find the bigger piggies
Stirring up the dirt
Always have clean shirts to play around in.
In their sties with all their backing
They don’t care what goes on around
In their eyes there’s something lacking
What they need’s a damn good whacking.
Everywhere there’s lots of piggies
Living piggy lives
You can see them out for dinner
With their piggy wives
Clutching forks and knives to eat their bacon.”
Beatles (George Harrison), 1968
More culture wars. The first step to finding someone to scapegoat is to agree on someone to hate.
July 12, 2009 at 2:24 pm
calling merle haggard my cultural hero is the result of sophism plain. i appreciate his music because i am open minded. i appreciate all sorts of music. the rest of you i think simply CAN NOT for the same reason some wear special head bands or flash signs to show what gang you are in or do your hair a certain way or wear special clothes or do not eat meat and on and on special “signs” that means something to you all but which is worthless to seeing clearly.
lots and lots of things are like that.
July 12, 2009 at 2:31 pm
and merle haggard writes good protest songs. some more things we show to make ourself a “self”.
wearing a suit and tie to work. letting our titties be free. wearing a cross. wearing medals. and pretending to be vampires.
and doing the isadora anti-hand dance whatever that may be. hahahhaha!
July 12, 2009 at 2:36 pm
rev manning. wtf! does he preach to a black congregation? and i told you elaine the black churches will be our salvation yet. hahahahah!

“…Leftist loving banksters, are you frackin’ nuts?”
of course. the russians know this. its all about control. control of the money and the power to flow through few hands …. why? for control? ask chairman mao.
our dear leader and stalin and hitler were all dedicated socialists.
and merle haggard represents individual freedom to you control freak loving leftists and you cannot abide that can you. hahahahah! same as you cannot abide the thought that there is a living conscious power greater than you. hahahahah!
constipated is what that is!

Elaine,
You saw much the same picture I saw with Obama, and I think you are right…I too think he is deluding himself…and has yet to grab the ball and play…he’s still trying to please the coaches, like back on the practice field….needs to become his own man…The Boss, and act like a boss….and an efficient boss won’t tolerate a lot of bullshit going on around him in high places.
One thing about being boss is that either you are or you aren’t and you won’t last long or accomplish much that is worthwhile if you aren’t.

OH:
“months and months ago, i mentioned discovering “looking” up into the inside top of my skull behind my eyes and not thinking and was jeered and hooted at by others. and thanks for reminding me.”
OH, this is meditation….shutting the mind down to outside influences and trivia, and letting your inner instincts escape their prison inside you… Bhuddists and Hindus call it meditation. Christians and other religions around the world call it prayer, and it gives believers a break from the whirling windmills of their mind.
When I repaired cars, and computer engine controls were new stuff that had to be manually diagnosed by the mechanic and not another computer like nowadays, I sometimes had a really hard diagnosis case and seemed to be getting nowhere. Often, if I just dropped my DVOM meter and tools and walked away and went and got a cup of coffee and flirted with the sexy waitress a little, when I came back, mind attacked the problem with new aggression and insight and soon identified the cause of problem.
When we are in very difficult circumstances, maybe we do need to pray, meditate, or maybe Elaine and I can just go look out at the world from a peaceful mountain top somewhere, and then mind can shut down for a few moments and we can later reboot with a clear RAM, and can function in our own best interests more efficiently.
OH, you are not the cause of Daughter’s problems. Children do not come with an instruction booklet, and so many factors; education, environment, even the foods and medicines and chemicals we consume affect us in various ways…and life, for young people is hard, especially for women who have the added burden of childbearing and finding a decent mate when few are available in this screwed up, selfish culture.
I had a younger brother, now deceased, who was born with a rare genetic disorder. Mom blamed herself, and felt that if she lived the remainder of her life as a perfect Christian, she might make things better. Brother still died from his disease and Mom finally had a stroke from all of the stress she put upon herself, and only during her last days, did she confide in me that she realized how wrong she had been about how she looked at things.
So, OH, don’t beat yourself. It does no good. Things happen….just work with what you have a chance of changing and keep going. Now, that is easy for me to tell you, but I know from experience, it is a hell of a lot harder when a kid you love is involved, but you must do it because it will not help your daughter (or grandson) if you become a basket case along with her.

Thanks so much for the Dan Bau post…beautiful.
In the towns and villages, of Vietnam, before Tet, when things were still peaceful, I heard recordings of the Dan Bau and Dan Tranh along with Vietnamese songs of lost love…etc…a lot like old US country music…and the sound of these insturments was particularly suited for the Sanskrit based Vietnamese language since they have a few more partial scale notes that are not in the Western pentatonic scale.
If you want to hear something beautiful we westerners can also appreciate, listen to Master Pham Duc Thanh play Scarborough Fair below.

I certainly hope Eric Holder appoints a special prosecutor (fully funded and fully empowered) re Bush–it’s LONG overdue and not just over the Bush torture policy. That should be just for starters. The Bush (illegal) wiretapping policy is another area just as deserving as the Bush torture policy. The Bush administration’s role in the banking collapse is ANOTHER worthy area to investigate. And last, but certainly not least, the Bush non-role after the Huricane Katrina disaster. In my opinion, Bush should have been impeached AND convicted for his failures re Katrina. When will the Democrats gain the backbone to pursue even SOME of these scandals? Now that they have 60 Senators, the Dems are running out of excuses. Let’s see… we can impeach a President because he gets a bj from an intern, but we can’t impeach a lying, criminal like “Dubaya”? BTW: anybody remember how many people from the Reagan admistration Daddy Bush had to pardon over Iran-Contra?
July 12, 2009 at 3:29 pm
Yes, Bush Sr pardoned all of his CIA-secret government buddies who he CONTROLLED while he was VP.
And Bush Sr should have been arrested but he wasn’t and he now goes onstage with CLINTON, in FOREIGN COUNTRIES, both of them yuckking it up while raising money for Katrina victims, etc.

i bet they live on a higher level than white people do now. and they paid a terrible multigenerational price and they did it. i bet not much sophist to them and “its all about me” isn’t very important to their lives now.

@David,
The Lizards at the Council of Foreign Relations run the Anglo-Dutch world. Rockefeller controls the CIA, corporations, and USA Treasury while London Rothschilds control the mossad, foreign central bankers, and UK. CFR Lizards run the White House. Whatever Rocky wants, MacDaddy delivers on … a la Bush and Cheney.
Lizards worship the King of Oil. Unfortunately, their King is bleeding oil at %5 per year. So, when Rocky says he wants to sacrifice people to save oil, well then, Obama is all for saving oil
The “Depression of 2010″ is no accident. The present UK Prime Minister, Gordon Brown, was briefed on the “Depression of 2010″ when he became Chancellor of the Exchequer in 1997.
Typical elements of the Extinctionism agenda include regulated family size, maximum birth control, maximum abortion; easy access to painless death for all who want out and veganism in the meantime. Paradise is achieved. No more human dreams. No more art or poetry. No faith, hope or love, just an environmental laboratory without scientists.
Ideally, the Muslims and Christians will annihilate each other along with blacks and browns in Armageddon, but short of apocalypse.
The Lizards will then replace oil with ethanol live happily ever after.

Alas, some here are busy playing into The Powers That Be’s (TPTB) game, by blaming their fellow proles (the “liberals, hippies, intellectuals, unionists, etc.”) for all their problems. That is exactly what Golem Sachs, et al, want… for “we the little people” to argue amongst ourselves, while they take over the planet. Marx was far more accurate at describing and predicting the fate of “capitalism” than many would care to acknowledge.
Merle Haggard (who is neither poor nor middle class) does not do anything for me; I much prefer to listen to Giovanni Gabrieli or Beethoven. Few classical composers became fabulously wealthy from their works, and some died in poverty.
-a middle-aged, poor, liberal Californian
P.S. My grandfather helped with union organizing, back in the ’30s and ’40s. He was a 35+ year member of the IAM-AW. At 18, I registered to vote at his union hall. I grew up listening to my grandparent’s stories of The Depression (I).

Plovering:
Such a waste…our former great American civilization, and homes and factories sitting empty because these super arrogant guys decide to send our manufacturing to China and Japan to pollute their rivers and atmosphere while they kill off our own population with a depression.
I once landed at Tokyo International Airport…came in off the Sea of Japan and both sides of the runway were nothing but wall to wall factories belching black smoke….wonder if it is that way now? And China will have to deal with pollution also.
Yep! Dying is being made easy, and desirable for us oldies. Insurance companies are moving to dump the elderly and go for the gold with younger folks who can pay premiums. Hospice is available when you decide to die…just tell them to inject you with enough morphine to stop your heart, and you are on your way to whatever you think awaits. As long as this is voluntary, it might be ok, but when someone else decides, then it’s murder, plain and simple…but you can bet it’s in our future if your lizards have anything to do with things.
Had a hell of a conversation with a young bitch of a woman who wanted me estimate her timber. Lady was a nursing home care cutter for an insurance company…taught them how to do things on the cheap….a big time Republican and she began talking politics…so we went a few rounds, and you know me…ha ha.
Lady drove a big white caddy and had the gall to state to me that we needed to concentrate on spending on preventive care for older people and let our insurance dollars work where they could do the most good with those who had several years to live. I told her I didn’t think that was a good way to look at things, especially in relation to human beings, and that if we had enough to spend on endless wars, we could certainly find enough to spend on the elderly….She was against any form of government health care, and supported the ending of social security someday.
After we argued awhile, she said she would let me know on the timber estimate.
As I rode away, I thought to myself…You little bitch, you are going to be old someday…and maybe you will still feel the same way the day some young smart ass pulls the plug on you.
Soon after I got home, she called and bowed out on cutting her timber…for my part, I thought…good riddance.
And now, because of her beloved Bush co. and now Obama co., her timber isn’t worth diddly squat. Time heals all wounds…and also wounds all heels or something like that.

About that right wingnut who drives the big white Caddy: it’s really amazing how propaganda works. People must have some sort of natural vulnerability to propaganda if it is sold to them properly. If one objectively studies the right wing talking points, one finds it almost perfectly mirrors the corporate agenda. Many posting here already realize this, but it is curious how many people buy this load of crud from the right wing–as vocalized by the likes of Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh. I used to buy into it myself so I can’t criticize too loudly (but here goes anyway). This propaganda shtick would be really funny if it weren’t kind of sad as well. We (the sheeple) are supposed to believe that some fat blob of a corporate welfare whore (Rush Limbaugh), who makes $40+ million dollars a year is ACTUALLY a spokesperson promoting the interests of the middle class American. Yes, Rush really IS America’s truth detector. Limbaugh just can’t seem to find the truth, that’s the problem. HAHA
July 13, 2009 at 1:18 am
He can’t even debate anyone. He controls the mike and cuts off anyone who is smarter than he and can rebut his various talking points. This is all so pathetic.
I notice there are lots of people who like this form of debate. One sided, that is. This peculiarity is deeply embedded in the human brain. Whenever someone starts to ‘win’ a debate via rational points, the loser gets mad. This would be rather funny except many ‘losers’ tend to have some muscle and use it. This is why debates in bars are not a good idea unless one is looking for a fight (heh).

===========================
One of country music’s most gifted and prolific songwriters, Merle Haggard symbolizes the American workingman — dignified, downtrodden, and not unlikely to visit the neighborhood bar — of whom he often sings. He is also a staunch upholder of musical traditions, particularly Western swing, and leads one of country music’s most improvisatory bands. Though an outspoken critic of the Nashville star system, Haggard was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1994; that same year he was feted with two simultaneous tribute albums, one consisting of country superstars, the other a group of rootsy country mavericks. Haggard himself fits equally into both camps.
Haggard was born to a family of transplanted Oklahomans who were living in a converted boxcar in California. When he was nine, his father died of a brain tumor. He quit school in the eighth grade and hopped a freight train at age 14. Through the end of his teens, he mostly roamed the Southwest. Haggard had been in and out of reformatories — from which he frequently escaped — by the age of 14 for such petty crimes as car theft. A 20-year-old married father, he was arrested for breaking into a cafe (drunk, he thought the booming business was closed) and spent nearly three years in San Quentin. He was paroled in 1960. (In 1972 then–California governor Ronald Reagan expunged Haggard’s criminal record, granting him a full pardon.)
After prison, Haggard went back to Bakersfield and worked for his brother digging ditches. He started playing lead guitar in a local country band, and by 1962, when he went to Las Vegas to back singer Wynn Stewart, Haggard had decided to make music his career.
============================
and it goes on. merle haggard was born in a fucking boxcar and actually did spend 3 years in san quentin….unlike john cash who did not. and i don’t doubt that merle haggard is a rich man now. he deserves it. anyway, i am very disappointed in many of you. you don’t have to like country obviously, but for gods sakes people…. open up a little. and i never especially favored merle either. but there must be something wrong with people who have been so indoctrinated into their “gang”, their signaled “herd” that they cannot consider anything but what they already think they know. the end of this subject. unless you want to visit about junior samples. heeee haawwww! i am right, you are wrong, case closed! hahahahah!
July 13, 2009 at 2:29 am
You assume lots of things. I wonder why?
July 13, 2009 at 2:30 am
By the way, I lived for 10 years in a tent complex. While my husband was very sick. I would have considered a box car to be a step up.
Never went to prison, though. Nor did I steal cars. Someone did steal my truck when I was a teenager. But my truck nearly killed him. HAHAHA. Maybe he became a country western singer.
July 13, 2009 at 2:50 am
i bet you didn’t have to live in a tent elaine. i will bet you basically chose to live in a tent. but merle was dealt a very bad hand and made good somehow. and admit it elaine. all your life, you, and most of your followers have flashed and owned all the signs and signals that there ever was showing your affinity towards your adapted herd. you basically might be considered a conformist to some. but that is ok. i like lots of different things. i personally think it is funny looking at modern day young country artists wearing their own signals for all the world to see like their phony cowboy hats! wearing your gun in open for all the world to see was another sign (that you were a bad man) too according to willy nelson. people are funny. i prefer not to belong to any herd elaine….but i hope to hear from wc again about making your own consciousness thing or whatever. and i have never read anything about your husbands health problems. none of my business i am sure….but what? no offense ever either elaine. i would die of shame if i ever offended you.

The 12 girls band was beautiful…and I do love beautiful ladies.
As we see this rise in Asian fine art, I also perceive a decline of the arts in the US. Think of all of the young potential talent being sent to be destroyed by warfare and greed. I question, what good is vast amounts of wealth and being able to dominate the other nations of the earth if the life we live is punctuated with a barbarian like attitude toward human potential…with our sick, dead eyed old elites degrading it and minimizing it and destroying it, when all there is left is dull eyed emptiness instead of joy and music and art to uplift the human spirit.

so whats the most posts elaines ever had? heh. does nobody remember junior samples?
you all are to be congratulated you are generally the most polite people i have ever known.
meanwhile, the 12 girls band…..i thought about what somebody said about millions or maybe tens of millions of asian kids studying classical music….western classical music. don’t know why. and they are so fucking….ethereal! how can they be the same “gooks” running through the jungles since before world war two. how can they be the same people that were starving to death and eating tree bark in north korea. no wonder white men have a thing for asian girls. can white people say “horsey”?
and i suppose we will be the new mud people in another century. i remember watching a documentary about white people living in the amazon jungle a long time ago. at about the turn of the 20th century, argentina was one of the wealthiest countries in the world and up river, a community of rich white people had themselves a fancy opera house and what not. then something happened, and the white people who didn’t get out stayed and went native. and in the documentary, they were like back in the stone age. but they seemed happy to me if i remember correctly.
does not one soul remember junior samples? gads!

about the 12 girls band. they are impressive. and i suppose their folks lived through chinas cultural revolution? probably had to have. and this is what came of the cultural revolution. what would mao have thought! you gotta admit david, life is simply amazing if you can keep from being dragged in too closely.
i would like to see what they could do with some of boxcar willies stuff.
and i have zero problem with wishing the chinese and asian people all the good luck in the world i hope they do a better job of it. good night all.
July 13, 2009 at 4:48 am
OH:
“how can they be the same “gooks” running through the jungles since before world war two. how can they be the same people that were starving to death and eating tree bark in north korea.”
The condition you talked about above was not Asians’ natural condition. They were in that condition after being dominated by the super snotty and arrogant European colonialists who put signs outside of buildings that said, “No dogs and (fill in the Asian race)allowed.” And later, the Japanese, who wanted to expand and dominate more land, and then later, the Americans who wanted to rule the world and use its natural resources as they saw fit.
Chinese and Asians are from an ancient culture…and many of the insturments you saw the 12 girls band play are traditional Asian insturments or updated variations. So, when people get to choose their own destiny without arrogant outsiders screwing with their lives, they have a chance to progress enough for their women to be able to take care of themselves and be beautiful, and learn classical music.
My neighbor, Hoi, just returned from visiting her sisters in Vietnam…and I looked at her photos of her trip. Neat, clean houses, restored temples, with no bullet holes. Nice hotels….dual lane highways with overpasses. Toyota and Mercedes taxis for the tourists to ride in, and every family with one or two motorcycles or scooters. Family rice farms were broken up and given to families according to numbers and needs and farming skills, and small industries are flourishing, and everyone is employed and eating well.
This was at DaNang. When I was there for a short while, it was a huge collection of crumbling big old French villas, shanty towns and grinding poverty for the peasants. Vietnam is now becoming a modern thriving nation…no longer third world at all.
Hoi wanted to stay, but she has grand kids and a daughter who is an alcoholic and lives only for herself…so she is staying here to be with her immediate family, and she suffers and worries a lot because of her wayward daughter.
One brother, who fought with the Vietcong would not come to the family gathering to see Hoi again…too much bitterness to put aside, but the rest of the family dressed Hoi in a beautiful red and gold robe and made her the guest of honor at a big feast.
US arrogance in looking at others is amazing…seeing them as less than human…and this comes from our culture which is directed from the top down…greed rules, but it will never get the very best out of people, like we see in the 12 girls band. That takes care and a sense of purpose….just like a farmer who loves the land, and is allowed to make a decent living and prosper…and is not held back by greedy bankers and crooked market manipulators.

My favorite is Bela Fleck.
July 13, 2009 at 10:58 am
@Plove: We saw Bela in concert a few years back, incredible does not do him justice.
Saw the twlve girl band last year and Stanley Clarke a few months ago. Even a Phyllis Stein like myself can enjoy skill.

Plovering:
Enjoyed it…country, jazz, with traditional and classic insturments combined…and all great musicians…uplifting…cheery. Like it.
July 13, 2009 at 12:22 pm
about bella i agree. but i will bet somewhere along the line, like everything else the best of us have done so far, limits will be reached….our human limits. i just wish our human limits towards governing ourselves and providing for ourselves wasn’t apparently so damn low. or only able to be raised by taking what belongs to others. humanity. phah!
and i am happy as hell to hear of the viet nam david. honestly. and horrified to hear when they come over here to usa, they too can become so miserable and empty inside they become alcoholics. we are missing something.
July 13, 2009 at 12:27 pm
and this is the ultimate “treason” that i can say. occasionally, i have a suspicion in the back of my mind. and that is maybe i am wrong but sometimes it seems like whenever our “culture” comes in contact with any other culture, we ruin it somehow? is that possible, or is it just me. is there something about us that makes it impossible for people to live with each other without becoming debased and it becoming all about winning or something?
today i am going to mow hay.
July 13, 2009 at 1:17 pm
For the first time this summer, we are having 2 days without rain. But that isn’t enough for hay mowing. We need 5 days so the cuttings dry out. This is a disaster for us, this too much rain. And it has been cold. Damn cold. Feels like fall.
July 13, 2009 at 1:23 pm
“feels like fall”
this is no shit elaine. either we are cold and wet….then humid as hell for a day or so….then cold and wet. i do not think it typical at all.
and the forecast for next week looks for highs in the 70’s and low 80’s. and the week after too. here in southern iowa, we are having mid-minnesota weather imho.
all our real and imagined problems would shrink into nothingness if ever we would have a north american crop failure now. but so far, not.
July 13, 2009 at 2:39 pm
OH:
I think that Plovering is somewhat closer to the answer about the whys of our relationships with others…from the rich people think tanks to the CFR and others…devious, powerful old men and women who are dead eyed, with stone cold hearts, and who care for little except accumulating more power and fulfilling their own greedy notions of who and what is important in this world of ours.
This is what our forefathers crossed the oceans to escape, so we left the bastards back in the old world, but they could not be happy with that, so these parasites soon followed and came here to rule us here, and to dominate the entire world around them.
But, OH, look at what we are becoming. While others have a 12 girls band or even Eric Clapton, we become distortions of reality like Michael Jackson, and we moonwalk backwards and forwards, but go nowhere. Our children play murderous video games and then grow into a mercenary warrior culture to be sent off to kill peaceful peasants in distant lands to accumulate more wealth for our elites and corporatists who then go around the world to buy up the culture and art that they themselves are too stupid and too lazy to create with their honest labors, caricatures of human beings.
Sad isn’t it? And this distortion is what we Americans worship. Michael was one of us. He was very mainstream as to what we are becoming…distorted reality.
Our women with huge, distorted breasts stuffed with silicone and saline…with faces pulled up like a wall hanging until old age, giving themselves hormones (and resulting cancers) so they can escape menopause, just to feel young and feminine and sexually valued a little longer.
Men with hair replacements and the same surgeries and penile implants and taking blue pills to achieve erections so they can chase and copulate with younger, socially accepted desirable females, just to continue surviving in the forever young corporate world where duplicity and throat cutting and the bottom line is placed above any sane notion of human worth and human welfare.
No. Poor Michael Jackson was symbolic of the new American normality….he was one of us.
And the CFR wants the US to be the “decider” on how all the nations of the earth will develop in the future. And we call what we have become prosperity and greatness. G..damned! Gimme a break!
So, in conclusion OH. You are not too off track at all in how you feel. And Merle is making his dream come true singing about how it ought to be…maybe.
It’s just that you feel it in an instinctive way while some of the rest of us try to point fingers more at specific things that are so distorted that it scares the hell out of sane people.
July 13, 2009 at 3:00 pm
As I note in my latest article, the secret Rockefeller meeting about how to run a propaganda campaign to convince us to reduce our ‘carbon footprint’ has begun….to a complete disaster!
This is due to everyone figuring out, I hope. that a bunch of spoiled rich brats telling us proles to reduce our lives…while they live in palaces and fly private jets is just too galling. I hope no one is gullible enough to fall for this crap.

Yes, OH, I remember Junior Samples. You could call him at BR549, remember!
~
Do you read Joe Bageant at all? He writes exactly of the working man. He himself hails from Winchester, Virginia. He recently wrote a book called “Deer Hunting with Jesus,” which I have not yet read.
~
He is a very funny man and a great writer. I frequent a left-wing forum, and I dropped him a note when the forum posted an article by Thomas Eddlem, a John Bircher who called for the left wing and the right wing–far-right wing, I guess!– to form an alliance! How upside down and desperate has this country become, on both sides!
~
He certainly appreciated the absurdity of that.
~
He has a website at http://www.joebageant.com
~
I’ll tell you, though–he is a far left-winger, and he has done some drugs. He is also an ex-pat, now in Belize most of the time. However, I think you will enjoy his writing.

Elaine and all:
I don’t mean to keep going on and on about the sorry state of affairs and who caused them…and we certainly need to work in constructive ways to do so….but a feeling of frustration is building….especially in our young folks.
Son saw the below video on YouTube and said that this guy is growing in popularity among the young.
If this is true, we can be sure that all is not well down in proleville….and the bullshit is beginning to land on deaf ears…
Don’t expect fine art or the 12 girl band…
This is a song of concentrated mahyhem by a young American. Rather brutal, but honest.
Main hook line in the song…”home of the thieves and land of the slaves.” And not very subtle either.
Not for the faint hearted.

this is my last word on music. what i really like.
in no particular order:
all of the viet nam war era music….i.e. soundtrack to the movie “platoon”. i also loved the music to world war two and the big bands. my prediction? the apocalypse will be accompanied by awesome music to drop dead by. really.
frank sinatra singing “fly me to the moon” on the movie “wall street”
the soggy bottom boys song. heh. (this song horrifies my wife)
the music or whatever it is called that the muslims make in the towers about prayers i think. this is prime stuff for me
and most of all, i don’t even know how to describe it. it is done by some other-world female and i think it is like angels yodeling or something in the highland mountains or something. i don’t even think it is words. just simply voice and it is simply amazing and utterly beautiful and primeval beyond time. i can’t stand to listen to it in fact because i ….. you guessed it.
============================
about eric clapton. yes he is a legend and defines professional no doubt. but i claim patsy cline was every bit as much and more. remember patsy and her voice and her times.
and did you ever hear hillbillys play the saw? heh
my first favorite singer? janis joplin. probably my favorite.
next favorite? the doors and jim morrison. i used to lift weights to their music.
first musician i liked? jimi hendrix
is it any wonder i switched to country?

OH:
I too love Hendrix…I can play Hey Joe and Purple Haze (not too good)…son taught me…on his Gibson SG.
I remember Patsy…her loss was tragic..still makes me sad, a sweet bouncy little beauty.
Strangely, I did not get into Janis…was in Vietnam at the time…and she was gone when I returned or soon thereafter…as I was trying to put my life back together, find work…build a house..etc.
Picked up on Joan Baez though, and still love her.
You mentioned Roy Orberson somewhere…liked him too…even Elvis, but Elvis had declined as I reached teenage years.
Used to watch the Porter Wagoner show…liked the old black and white ones, but didn’t get into the music too much…and I really like Dolly…still do…and “I’ll Always Love” her.
We have Dollywood in Sevierville, Tenn, just outside Gatlinburg…about 150 miles from me…great place…She put the entire town to work in her theme park…and her cousins play in all of the shows…Says she can pull off her wig and put on ordinary clothes…and walk down the street and nobody recognizes her…which she does often…really smart, but down to earth too.
One of the cable networks had all of the old Porter shows for rent…was free for awhile..and I watched it until it stopped, but didn’t sign up…don’t know if it’s available still or not.
I even like the old Motown if I hear it…Shirelles and Supremes.
Son says that the original Motown studio live room had concrete walls and a dirt floor with gravel…a sound engineer’s nightmare, but they mixed until the unique Motown sound came out and became famous.

david. i shouldn’t tell you this but it is the back of the blogs and nobody will be seeing it anyway.
i had a grade school/junior high schoolmate back in the very early 1960’s and he went on to play with wallin jennings band for i think about 20 years until his drug habit became too bad for even wallin. so the fellow came back home to where i live and one evening i spent a long time visiting with him cause he wanted to talk. and among other things, he told me in las vegas he saw portor wagoner win a bet. it seems you could line up a dozen silver dollars in a row on a table, and porters….”tool”….his “thing”….you know….anyway porter was longer.
i just thought you ought to know that david. i have been waiting a long time to bring that up to someone. heh. skinny porter! who knew.

So, old Porter was a man before his time, in the wrong business (singing)…think what old skinny old Porter could have done on the Internet nowadays…be really famous doing other things….but still be a really BIG hit with the ladies too.
Us rational people are not supposed to admit to things like this….but, if he is around, God sure does seem to bless some more than others, and He must have a sense of humor too, especially about things like that.
Skinny old Porter…who would have known? 12. Unbelievable! Gimme a break?

so cc and wc. i cannot do so much….i cannot continue my seeking and hunt for wisdom AND obsessively try and cut through deliberate sophist manipulations and deceptions AND try to affect the arrival of the wet ass hour AND do my worldly fetters thing too.
as earl nightengale would say, and david, what are my goals? is it to gain a place in the NEW WORLD ORDER with the old elites? is it to help replace the old elites with a new elite? is it to get for myself all the amusements and pleasures and power the world has to offer….or is my goal the same as it always has been, is, and will be.
July 14, 2009 at 4:44 pm
@OH: the goal of every human regardless of caste, color, creed, sex, is to find happiness. When you have been looking for it long enough you eventually realize the most important thing anyone can realize, and that is that you are looking for it where it cannot be permanently had. All this is not a wet ass hour, no matter how bad, it too will pass. As it always has. Just as all worldly happiness and pleasure is fleeting. Julius Caesar would have a couple of scribes follow him throughout the day whispering, “Life is fleeting.” This to remind him of the temporal nature of the world. Alas, he had a mental lapse and was turned into minced meat by the Senate.
—
Finding permanent happiness, that is goal of all mankind. However, it has to be done intelligently at first, and once a goal has been decided, completely singleminded, until death.

OH, CC, Elaine and WC:
From Sir Edwin Arnold’s “The Light of Asia”, Book 8:
The Light of Asia is an epic poem about Buddhism…and Arnold covers many of the things you are talking about…life suffering, happiness…and what happens in the end…
The poem is a thing of beauty. Arnold, an Englishman, went to India and came away with some profound understandings of the human condition he learned there…and his poem was an immediate success…it’s beautiful, and on track about human suffering and happiness whether you are a believer or not….something we might all learn from.
Hope you enjoy.
****
The Heavens, Earths, Worlds, and changes changing them
A mighty whirling wheel of strife and stress
Which none can stay or stem.
Pray not! the Darkness will not brighten! Ask
Nought from the Silence, for it cannot speak!
Vex not your mournful minds with pious pains!
Ah! Brothers, Sisters! seek
Nought from the helpless gods by gift and hymn,
Nor bribe with blood, nor feed with fruit and cakes;
Within yourselves deliverance must be sought;
Each man his prison makes.
Each hath such lordship as the loftiest ones;
Nay, for with Powers above, around, below,
As with all flesh and whatsoever lives,
Act maketh joy and woe………
Higher than Indra’s ye may lift your lot,
And sink it lower than the worm or gnat;
The end of many myriad lives is this,
The end of myriads that.
Only, while turns this wheel invisible,
No pause, no peace, no staying-place can be;
Who mounts will fall, who falls may mount; the spokes
Go round unceasingly!
****
If ye lay bound upon the wheel of change,
And no way were of breaking from the chain,
The Heart of boundless Being is a curse,
The Soul of Things fell Pain.
Ye are not bound! the Soul of Things is sweet,
The Heart of Being is celestial rest;
Stronger than woe is will: that which was Good
Doth pass to Better — Best.
I, Buddh, who wept with all my brothers’ tears,
Whose heart was broken by a whole world’s woe,
Laugh and am glad, for there is Liberty!
Ho! ye who suffer! know
Ye suffer from yourselves. None else compels,
None other holds you that ye live and die,
And whirl upon the wheel, and hug and kiss
Its spokes of agony,
Its tire of tears, its nave of nothingness.
Behold, I show you Truth! Lower than hell,
Higher than heaven, outside the utmost stars,
Farther than Brahm doth dwell,
Before beginning, and without an end,
As space eternal and as surety sure,
Is fixed a Power divine which moves to good,
Only its laws endure.
This is its touch upon the blossomed rose,
The fashion of its hand shaped lotus-leaves;
In dark soil and the silence of the seeds
The robe of Spring it weaves;
That is its painting on the glorious clouds,
And these its emeralds on the peacock’s train;
It hath its stations in the stars; its slaves
In lightning, wind, and rain.
Out of the dark it wrought the heart of man,
Out of dull shells the pheasant’s pencilled neck;
Ever at toil, it brings to loveliness
All ancient wrath and wreck.
The grey eggs in the golden sun-bird’s nest
Its treasures are, the bees’ six-sided cell
Its honey-pot; the ant wots of its ways,
The white doves know them well.
It spreadeth forth for flight the eagle’s wings
What time she beareth home her prey; it sends
The she-wolf to her cubs; for unloved things
It findeth food and friends.
It is not marred nor stayed in any use,
All liketh it; the sweet white milk it brings
To mothers’ breasts; it brings the white drops, too,
Wherewith the young snake stings.
The ordered music of the marching orbs
It makes in viewless canopy of sky;
In deep abyss of earth it hides up gold,
Sards, sapphires, lazuli.
Ever and ever bringing secrets forth,
It sitteth in the green of forest-glades
Nursing strange seedlings at the cedar’s root,
Devising leaves, blooms, blades.
It slayeth and it saveth, nowise moved
Except unto the working out of doom;
Its threads are Love and Life; and Death and Pain
The shuttles of its loom.
It maketh and unmaketh, mending all;
What it hath wrought is better than hath been;
Slow grows the splendid pattern that it plans
Its wistful hands between.
This is its work upon the things ye see,
The unseen things are more; men’s hearts and minds,
The thoughts of peoples and their ways and wills,
Those, too, the great Law binds.
Unseen it helpeth ye with faithful hands,
Unheard it speaketh stronger than the storm.
Pity and Love are man’s because long stress
Moulded blind mass to form.
It will not be contemned of any one;
Who thwarts it loses, and who serves it gains;
The hidden good it pays with peace and bliss,
The hidden ill with pains.
It seeth everywhere and marketh all:
Do right — it recompenseth! do one wrong –
The equal retribution must be made,
Though DHARMA tarry long.
It knows not wrath nor pardon; utter-true
Its measures mete, its faultless balance weighs;
Times are as nought, to-morrow it will judge,
Or after many days.
By this the slayer’s knife did stab himself;
The unjust judge hath lost his own defender;
The false tongue dooms its lie; the creeping thief
And spoiler rob, to render.
Such is the Law which moves to righteousness,
Which none at last can turn aside or stay;
The heart of it is Love, the end of it
Is Peace and Consummation sweet. Obey!
* * * *
The Books say well, my Brothers! each man’s life
The outcome of his former living is;
The bygone wrongs bring forth sorrows and woes
The bygone right breeds bliss.
That which ye sow ye reap. See yonder fields!
The sesamum was sesamum, the corn
Was corn. The Silence and the Darkness knew!
So is a man’s fate born.
He cometh, reaper of the things he sowed,
Sesamum, corn, so much cast in past birth;
And so much weed and poison-stuff, which mar
Him and the aching earth.
If he shall labor rightly, rooting these,
And planting wholesome seedlings where they grew,
Fruitful and fair and clean the ground shall be,
And rich the harvest due.
If he who liveth, learning whence woe springs,
Endureth patiently, striving to pay
His utmost debt for ancient evils done
In Love and Truth alway;
If making none to lack, he throughly purge
The lie and lust of self forth from his blood;
Suffering all meekly, rendering for offence
Nothing but grace and good:
If he shall day by day dwell merciful,
Holy and just and kind and true; and rend
Desire from where it clings with bleeding roots,
Till love of life have end:
He — dying — leaveth as the sum of him
A life-count closed, whose ills are dead and quit,
Whose good is quick and mighty, far and near,
So that fruits follow it.
No need hath such to live as ye name life;
That which began in him when he began
Is finished: he hath wrought the purpose through
Of what did make him Man.
Never shall yearnings torture him, nor sins
Stain him, nor ache of earthly joys and woes
Invade his safe eternal peace; nor deaths
And lives recur. He goes
Unto NIRVANA. He is one with Life
Yet lives not. He is blest, ceasing to be.
OM, MANI PADME, OM! the Dewdrop slips
Into the shining sea!

However, I wonder how some of the distant folks who we claim are our enemies, feel about all of this when we have some kid back here with his computer and joystick use our flying robots to shoot missiles at his house and kill his entire family. I guess its all their fault for being born in that particular region of the world and for caring for their homeland. david

WC:
According to the poem…it’s all dreams…and if we act, we cause pain…in anything we do. If we eat meat to nourish our life, we kill. If we eat vegetables to nourish our life, we kill living things. We cannot escape being the bad guys.
The more we act, the more pain we cause. If we are the motivator of great and monumental things like wars, we create great pain and great suffering.
If we do not act, do not create, do not move, change and keep moving in some way, we cease to exist…that is our fate….that is the price we pay. We must act. And actions cause pain in some way.
Life without suffering is an illusion, as are all things of this world….like a short play, in which we are mere actors who continually climb onto this earthly wheel of suffering and go round and round until the end, but, according to the poem, there is no end…as is also taught in other religions and philosophies…that what is just changes form and is reborn….somewhere.
In some notions, we are reborn in heaven or hell, in some, back here in different physical forms.
But according to this poem, the key is to realize that it is all an illusion, a fools errand…that none of it exists in truth…it’s all an illusion, like a play in which we are mere actors (I think Shakespeare also said something like this).
And where does our pain originate? From our desires…to be this or that, to be here or there, and from our foolish notions that we can have control even for a moment.
Ah, but this too is an illusion. All is well for a fleeting moment, like during an orgasm, so to speak, and then, like a bird that flies, it cannot continue and our happiness, and contentment, and satisfaction, is soon gone, and we are exhausted, and we must struggle to regain our strength and continue…always seeking yet another real or metaphoric orgasm that we define as happiness….and we do this by our acts…which inevitably cause suffering for ourselves, and for others or for some living thing.
A rather daunting and sobering consideration isn’t it?
Is there any hope? Christians say yes…that by grace…we are forgiven the evil we commit during this life if we just…. believe=focus mind and self on whatever is the originator of this system. And other religions; Islam, Judaism and others do this also…so that at the end, we can live the life of peace if we jump through the proper hoops of their belief systems….and in the end, we go to this or that….heaven or hell…yet another set of dualistic concepts.
Yet, the poem considers that the dualism is but a necessary illusion to enable us to function on this earth. Most of us work to achieve perfect balance in this life….
Ah, but perfect balance is inaction (think of a set of scales)…and this would be inaction…and therefore we would soon cease to exist if we continued in this state very long, we would not eat. We would not sleep. We would not wake. So even this is an illusion.
We, on earth, are forever destined to keep moving to this or that…creating unbalance, and disharmony along the way…and suffering.
Now, perhaps, a key to this is to simply minimize our movements…living in modest and frugal ways that minimize the suffering and disharmony that we cause around us. We cannot eliminate the suffering and disharmony we cause…it is necessary for us to keep living…the farmer must harvest his crops and butcher must kill animals…and this is hard to escape…
And we humans must kill to defend ourselves and our families from other humans whose excessive lusts for power and control seek to destroy us…its all in the scheme of things.
To live, we must act, but we must also seek to minimize our actions and not let them become excessive in ways that cause excessive suffering in nature or within our own species, and this is where we have a great deal of trouble.
What is at the heart of this excess? Simple. It is our excessive desires….to be this or that, to have this or that…the largest fortune, the most beautiful mate, the biggest McMansion, own the most land, have control over more people, etc.
Ah, but this also is a foolish illusion. The more suffering we create in achieving these things, the more reactions we provoke from the world around us, and, in the end, if we cause excessive suffering, these forces will eventually seek balance and will swing the scales wildly against us and destroy us.
So reason dictates, modesty in our actions…nothing excessive…but keep acting and living and loving (and having an adequate number of orgasms…and especially giving orgasms (both literal and metaphorical also so we can share our fleeting moments of happiness with others).
Controlling our excessive desires is a problem…most religions try to do this with a bunch of “thou shalt not(s)” Maintaining our self control is very necessary in living an adequately moral life. However, like all things, religions are subject to excessive desires and lusts for power…and they are often hyjacked and enlisted in the service of elites and governments and controllers who are themselves engaged in excesses at the expense of the people.
So, for my part, I will try to be my own controller…although I do think religions of many types might be found that are well intended and beneficial. But the opportunity for excess is great withing the religious community.
So, we have not yet come to any conclusion about the heart of human existence and the hereafter.
The poem does recognize the actions and reactions and dualism..and this dualism is necessary or we would cease to exist.
However, one possibility exists that the poem considers (you probably need to read the full version to get this) and I kinda like…
That possibility is that the entire whole shebang of human existence is a complete unreal illusion…like a play with us as actors on a stage (remember Shakespeare). We are born, we exist for awhile and then we go away…offstage.
I’ve written about this before. I prefer to think of our existence as like a group of children building beautiful sandcastles on the beach. We laugh. We play. Some love each other. Some hate each other. We hug. We throw sand in each others faces. We look to each other and parents for guidance. But we are engaged….living and loving, and hating also, and this trip to the beach only lasts for a short while, and then we go, leaving our sandcastles which are soon washed away in the surf, soon crumbling back to elemental sand.
And on the next day, a new, bright-eyed group of children come to the same spot and start building sand castles again…and loving and living….and so on….
Now, to get some notion of where we might be going when we leave the beach is a real puzzler.
Some say heaven. Some say hell. Some say we will be reborn over and over until we get it right.
I do think that the scales must balance in some way, somewhere or the universe itself would not function properly…or maybe even the universe itself is just an illusion also…
The poem considers that realizing that all is illusion, everything is make-believe, is the point where dualism ceases to exist. I think this idea has some merit.
Does this mean extinction for us when we come to believe this? Some might say yes. I don’t know. I have no way of knowing for sure.
But I like the last line of the poem.
“The dewdrop slips into the shining sea.”

Do not trust Blavatsky and her New Age groupies theosophy. They are pure evil.
July 15, 2009 at 4:03 pm
Don’t trust ANYONE who claims they have the ability to see into the Outer Darkness. Unless they get hit by lightning bolts a lot. Heh. But then, no one believes me when I talk about spiritual matters.

“and this dualism is necessary or we would cease to exist.”
WE “I” never cease to exist. human sense of dualism dies. the last enemy to be overcome is death. bible
in the dream we make all kinds of rational. But its all in the dream, if your in a bubble can you tell its a bubble.. if in a dream it all seems so real. Step out of the dream bed . We sit safely drinking the cup with no limits.
what is the cause of this sense of dualism .. the 1 zillion dollar question.
perhaps that is why the dancing jokers have a place in the eternal now.
once out out of the dream, brief glimpses can appear. Like an itch a sketch pad. the song has ended but the melody lingers on. In time, ashes to ashes , dust to dust , illusion to illusion.
And the “REAL I AM THAT” , starts again to float on a sunbeam. laugh at the sky
a revolutionary thought. God is not in the dream .. lol take it from there. When this question is experienced then it can not be taught. as their is nothing to teach and none to be taught .
babblers all in the dream talking to ourselves lol

Evil
glittering generalities , name calling , the evil of propaganda techniques.

Evil:
Seems that I ran up against a “true believer” of some kind.
No Evil.
The Light of Asia is not new age theosophy. It is an epic poem by Sir Edwin Arnold, a British Academic about the ancient religion of Buddhism, which came about 400 years before Christ and the Bhudda analyzed and taught many of the same principles of human kindness and a brotherhood of man long before Christ was born.
Consider that although Christ taught these principles of love and forgiveness and brotherhood in the Sermon on the Mount, the notion of Christs love has been distorted into an exclusiveness that often promotes hatred and evil toward those that some Christians judge to not be true believers…and this goes for ideas too.
So, I will say to you, In your own words…don’t quote Bible verses at me…tell me what Christ teaches you that is the purpose of this life. Why is the dualism here? Can we escape it in daily life? What will happen after death?
And then fit it all together so it makes sense and is reasonable. How should we treat our fellow man? Why is there suffering in the world?
See, many of these questions were debated long ago. So, they are timeless questions, even for Christians and others.
I had a beloved aunt who was a stalwart Christian for many years…raising money to help build a huge brick and mortar church.
In her last days, she confided in me, “David, now I’m not so sure that it’s all like the Bible says it is. Now, that I’m looking death in the face, a lot of what I’ve believed all of my life really doesn’t make a lot of sense and it really doesn’t seem very important to me now.”

David
what christ taught was that .
quote “your god is a devil and murderer from the beginning and their is no truth in him.. from this point henceforth some took up rocks ..
he taught love your neigbor as yourself .
he taught forgive 70 times seven
\he taught take no thought for tomorrow
he taught i of my self can do nothing ,, the father the “god the I am” with in does the work.
He taught love your enemy ,, turn the other chee
k
He taught resist not evil ( don’t fight it) and it will flee from you
all these teaching distorted on the alter of organized religion.
Budda, lao-tze= many other said the same thing.. take the roseta stone of understanding interpret one line .. then all the other sayings come to life..all saying the same thing ,, in the tapestry of local understanding .
misread thousand of years later in a materialistic society they become balls of string and sacks of mush .
July 15, 2009 at 4:58 pm
and long before budda the Zoroastrian scriptures , The Bhagavad Gita, Shankara’s Crest-jewel of Discrimination, a mere sampling of ancient verse.. use the Rosetta Stone approach. find the true meaning. it will be the same from the beginning to even Joel Goldsmith ..
all saying factually the same thing only pushed out for common and understanding ..
a journey of many life times… in education a first grader would not understand the teaching of the physic’s PHD .
many levels of understanding ,
where ere thou art act well thy part .. lol
July 15, 2009 at 5:13 pm
nope not a true believer. but … but have sensed past the dream . when a dream takes hold it is like a ,,
HYDRA LERNAIA was a gigantic, nine-headed water-serpent, which haunted the swamps of Lerna. Herakles was sent to destroy her as one of his twelve labours, but for each of her heads that he decapitated, two more sprang forth. So with the help of Iolaos, he applied burning brands to the severed stumps, cauterizing the wounds…
symbolism to decribe the dream state
holding us in from every angle
July 15, 2009 at 5:19 pm
once again all debate in the dream , is begun on the wrong premise. Find the “I” .. then the debate is not kindergarten exercise in fools gold ..
in the ocean on a raft sinking in the waters wake up.. all struggling is unnecessary . but to those who think they are in the boat sure struggle .. you may not sink this time in the dream but then death is likely. lol
a arm once thought cut off, strangles us in the end . rinse repeat over .
July 15, 2009 at 6:43 pm
We live half of our lives in the Dream World. Most people have little to no knowledge of this other side of life and it is darkness to them. But dreams happen all night long to everyone! And we react to this during the day, it is very much a part of us.
Most religions are based on sections of the Dream World. Only, most humans insist that this knowledge is from outside their brains. This is a delusion.
July 15, 2009 at 6:49 pm
I think you are onto what the Light of Asia, and the true meaning that many beliefs derived from…that it is possibly all a dream from a dreamers point of view.
Yes, the gita and other sources also try to define this reality, as does the one god religions.
And yes, both the question of what the nature of the “I” really is, and what the nature of the originator is are also profound and, have yet to be satisfactorily answered…I think our abilites are much too limited at this point.
As you can see, the closing line of the poem speculates that the “I” is simply a part of the origin, and goes back to the origin when we realize that it’s all just a dream…and reach our “enlightenment.”
A Christian might say that they “saw the light” and were “saved” and others might also look at things in different ways….but, yes, there seems to be this need to search for the source and seek some sort of bonding with this source.
Maybe…just a huge bunch of superstitions…windmills in our fevered minds, but, still it is there….this questioning…this searching….for motivations for life and enduring our suffering.
Yes, many of the religions try to simplify for the masses, and usually end up creating more confusion rather than clarity….and as I mentioned earlier, all sorts of selfish motives become intertwined in these systems.
Still, it comes down to our notions of what is really real…about who we are…the “I” as you say WC, and the nature of the originator…whatever It…He…She…or Otherness is.
All definitions of this Otherness, I find inadequate to even come close to describing it….
The Gita tries…when Arjuna sees God as a many armed, many shaped and figured Entity that is so glorious that he can but bear to look for an instant….the Bible tries with the burning bush thingy which is probably the creation of the mystical for mass consumption in Moses’ mind.
And I find these inadequate to a large extent….so, I will leave this thing we call God largely undefined in my mind…and this “I” which I call self is also a mystery…the why of it all.
In the resist not evil thing, however, we have inaction, and this cannot go on for long…or extinction will result. Prayer and meditation are part of this process. We can stop and pray or meditate for a short while and give it up so to speak, but in this state we will cease to exist if we continue it very long….perhaps this is more real than the awakening state….but we are forced by the nature of the dream to rejoin the dream.
I still like the dew drop slips into the shining sea idea….although I cannot yet define the dewdrop or the shining sea.
Elaine rightfully tells us to not trust anyone who claims to see into the outer darkness…and showing us a window into the outer darkness is what many claim when they try to lead us in this direction or that as far as belief systems go.
And if we were really able to see into the outer darkness, it would be for only a glance…because the sight would be too much for us.
Thanks WC and Elaine….enjoyed it and added new perspectives on these thoughts….and the dream, for the moment, continues.

yes the night is a dream with in the dream ..
we all float on this raft of ocean dreams all day long ..
we all kick and scream ..
but still unless a person is out of the dream ..
all religion is based on the day time dream of objects forms , and balls of strings sacks of mush.
90 % of scripture is in the dream . night and day taking on a false platform ‘
9.9% are recoginizing slowly that the raft is a dream .. first must come understanding .. With all thy getting get understanding..
.01% have been out of the dream . and back in like a flickering firefly.. teaching , telling .. then like lao-tze comes the relization tho one should come back from the dead .. no one in the dream will understand.. so he left the gate into the wilderness of really,, leaving the etch a skitch world of dreams behind..
.000. never see the world of dream .. God is not in the human picture ..
and elaine in all appreciation of your vast kicking abilitys lol a dream is still a dream…

If you get the complete cable HBO package, goto the documentaries section and they have a documentary on Freedom of Speech in USA since 9/11….I started to view it, but had to go mow yards. What I saw looked really good…and had some good discussion…especially on how Bush co. and the right wing nuts scapegoated American Muslims….pure propaganda
WC:
Don’t know if I agree with your percentages or not, but I think you have the gist of it all…whether we are right about the dream thingy or not….who the hell knows? But it’s interesting to think about anyway.

i used to go to the pokono mountains when i was little to visit my grandpa from russia. for some reason, he lived with some indians up on the pokonos (sp?)
this was after my grandma threw him out of the house.

“Be content with what you are sure of. And the only thing you can be sure of is ‘I am’. Stay with it and reject everything else. This is Yoga.” ~ Nisargadatta Maharaj, from I Am That
Every blog must begin with some words, and perhaps it’s fitting that we open with a quotation from one of the great teachers of advaita (nonduality) in the 20th century, Nisargadatta Maharaj. The Eastern mystics reached a highly sophisticated understanding of the inner nature of consciousness and reality many centuries ago in an area of human experience that does not lend itself easily to scientific testing. Yet, as we can see since the emergence of quantum physics theory, science has begun to describe the universe in very similar terms to the way it can be experienced, as an absolute underlying single reality from which everything arises.
The Science and Nonduality conference offers an opportunity to explore these ideas, to consider, accept or reject them, and to meet others with similar interests.
===========================
my last (non)word on this betcha. and i am very disappointed you do not have a dynomite charismatic speaking machine like adolf hitler or huey long we all can vote for. wtf! bummer.

about “religion”, its impossible to say anything for certain. paul, the apostile himself, says “each one knows the lord in his own way: and not all know him alike”….
and there are offered many, many instances of Paul himself teaching for most on a literal level while at the same time, he intends his words to be read by a few at a symbolical level….allegory. and Paul explicitly says so too.
so what the hell. but the truth is, the root is the same as far as i can tell in all traditions and from all times and cultures. but the gnostics and all the “secret knowledge” people end up being burned alive by their own priests in doctrine disputes usually to keep the common people obedient to whatever their earthly owners want.
so i don’t know what else can be possibly said. it all just depends. and this is the source of all sorts of troubles. the end.
July 16, 2009 at 10:56 am
oh yeah. david quotes st augustine often. signifying nothing hahahah! not that david is shallow or not seeing clearly, but everything goes back to how the world simply deliberately is….i.e. from “the Gnostic Paul” by elaine pagels
============================
p. 7 “Yet Paul, like the savior himself, chooses not to disclose his theme openly. Instead he follows Christs example and hides his meaning in parables. In writing his letter to the Romans for example, he uses a simple, everyday situation-the relationship between jews and gentiles-as a parable for the relation between the “called” and the “elect”, between “psychic” and “pneumatic” Christians”.
===========================
and trust me on this david. this, THIS is the most important and interesting and liberating thing you will ever hear. Marx basic fundamental background assumption never was true….but that it was for him is the damnest thing. but that doesn’t change that economics is not what makes the world go round….and our purpose cc, our motivation is not to make ourselves happy either. hahahahah! happy feet!
============================
and i just use the christian religion as an example. it obviously would be as easy to pick any religion like the taoists or buddhists or hindu….but i just as easily could find and prove to you this also is in the jew and the muslim religions too. there is nothing new under the sun actually….depending on how you personally were born seeing things. hahahahah! and this is how it is for some reason.
now this surely is the ultimate thing that can be said. surely, surely now i am done and can play cards and make hay and have myself a little bit of fun before i croak.
