I noticed that some readers here are very upset about ‘cloud seeding’ which is where various organizations try to produce rain using artificial methods. The needs of agriculturalists always supersede the needs of city dwellers. Conspiracy theorists who love to pin blame on various people or organizations like the Bilderberg group, have fooled people into thinking, cloud seeding is a conspiracy to kill people. Instead, it is a classic example of governments responding to the urgent demands of farmers. Landowning farmers are the major directive force behind all sorts of bad ecological practices. Everything from slash and burn, irrigation systems that salinize the soil, overuse of antibiotics to chemical pollution from spraying pesticides: all of these things are embraced by farmers and used by farmers and farmers DEMAND the right to do these things.
The view from my window this summer is rain, rain, rain!

All governments respond to farmers. Farmers who own land nearly universally are very politically conservative. And farmers want things to go their own way so they will use various systems that don’t interface with the overall health of nature unless there are limits imposed on them. And they hate this, they hate this with a raging passion. Like bankers, they want to go to infinity. For example, if there is any open range, they will overgraze it because they will increase the size of herds to infinity, if that were possible. This is why much of the third world is being turned into desert: overgrazing herds are systematically stripping the land of its grasses.

The Great Dust Bowl drought in the 1930′s was made far worse thanks to unsustainable farming methods and overgrazing. Since the dawn of agriculture, governments have been in a state of tension with the desires of the farmers to expand production. That is, farmers want more and more and more and governments have to understand, there isn’t enough ‘more’ so things must be controlled and rationed. The concept of limiting things so they work better is hard for many people to emotionally accept. Some people actually believe that no controls are best! This is lunacy.

Anyway, if someone wishes to organize some group that can stop things like cloud seeding, they better understand who is to blame and how to apply pressure on these groups who want cloud seeding. Obviously, this cloud seeding issue is a big, big matter in the conspiracy side of the internet. We don’t have this here in the Northeast US or in places like England for the simple reason, we get lots of rain all year round. But the West has been a drought/flood cycle situation since the end of the last Ice Age.

Many, many millions of people have relocated to this drought/flood environment because they LOVE DROUGHTS. When I was growing food in Arizona, I would ‘pray for rain.’ Whereas, the bulk of my neighbors were overjoyed when it didn’t rain. More sunny days were happiness for them and nasty for me. But I was outnumbered. Tucson used to have extensive farming along the Santa Rita River (which has now been reduced to a wash that has water only when it rains). This farming has been ruthlessly eliminated and the farmers sold their water rights to the city of Tucson so the non-farming population could flush toilets and fill swimming pools.

California is a major food production state and the battle over water use has raged there ever since my great-great grandfather’s day when the state was first taken over by the US government. During the 1950′s, the West had this long drought. In Tucson, we got less than 6 inches of rain one year. Our minister used to pray for rain every Sunday. When it did rain hard, my little brother thought the world was coming to an end because he never saw a big storm since his birth.

Then, in the sixties to the eighties, it rained much more than usual. This is when the population took off like a rocket. Tucson had only 35,000 people when I was a child. It has over a million today. The states with the least water saw the greatest population growth starting with the Reagan years. A number of old timers complained about this. I remember my grandfather complaining back in the 1950′s. ’Damn Easterners should go back to where they came from,’ he would growl. He lived in what became downtown Pasadena. He bought his land there in 1900. Was horrified to see a city grow up around him. Just as my parent’s ranch in Tucson which was far from the city, is now part of the suburbs.

City people who want to live in the country have invaded many agricultural centers. The paving over and suburbanization of prime farmland is an ongoing problem in the US. Farmers are being pushed into increasingly marginal lands due to the spread of cities. The needs of the cities are at cross purposes with the desires of farmers. And this is a political conflict with grave implications. That is, when both farmers AND city people both want to use precious water resources in drought/flood parts of the planet, they both need to create more rain.

And this brings us into the real battle here: the method for producing more rain is simple—-grow more forests and build fewer houses, pave fewer roads and grow less grass-based life forms like rice, wheat, barley, corn, etc. All things both farmers and city people absolutely do not want to do! So, to discuss this rationally, I randomly pulled out some interesting news stories, dome from the past, some from this week:

The Fly That’s Bugging California – Malathion generals on the bombing run again – Los Angeles Times
2002: State officials say they have no plans to resume aerial spraying in Los Angeles, Orange or San Bernardino counties, which currently are under quarantine and are battling the Medfly with sterile flies in the hope of breeding the pest out of existence. But officials say there aren’t enough sterile Medflies to carry the fight to Riverside County, hence the spraying. .
The folks in Corona and Norco understandably are up in arms about the spraying. That’s because the state is offering no better answers than before to the key questions raised by the Medfly issue: Is eradication even possible? Is the state even daring to ask itself what happens if the Medfly cannot be eliminated as a threat to California’s $18-billion agriculture industry? And, the question that most concerns most Southern Californians: Is malathion spraying safe? .
State officials say it is. A scientific review panel set up by Gov. Pete Wilson agreed that malathion was generally safe, but it also called for further research. More needs to be known about the pesticide’s long-term effects, the panel noted, adding that aerial spraying of malathion should be used only as a last resort.

I could go into the history of crop spraying here. But won’t. To encapsulate it, after WWI, hot-dog pilots needed work. So it was devised in such a way that DDT spraying could be done via plane since there were excess pilots available and the airline holiday flying business barely existed. People still used boats and trains, not planes. The problem with these DDT actions was, the spray from planes would float all over the place. I remember the old DDT spray problems. If anyone is disturbed by cloud seeding, I would suggest they get themselves sprayed with DDT to see how nasty it can be!

This DDT spraying boosted crop yields immensely! Rachael Carson’s ‘Silent Spring’ was written in despair as she tried to warn us about the evil side effects of overuse of DDT. DDT is like all human creations: it has good things and very bad things in the same package. Banning DDT has meant that more people suffer from malaria and other insect borne diseases. But then, insects are like viruses: they evolve much, much faster than humans. So insects rapidly began to evolve resistance to DDT.

Carson was correct about the dire effects on birds. Birds eat insects and would eat DDT and this destroyed their ability to hatch eggs. The list of things we use that makes life easier or better for us but have very dire downsides is long and tedious. Indeed, one could suggest that ALL things humans use or do are of this nature. The fact that we are in a major extinction event is proof of this.

So, on to the topic of cloud seeding. I will note that the ‘chemspray’ people won’t call it the older name because they want to redefine it. But it is cloud seeding which is very similar to the DDT air spraying business before WWII.

Of course, tooth fillings stay in your teeth and are not ground to a fine dust and spread everywhere. Spreading any sort of chemical or dust will cause discomfort with our sensitive noses and lungs. I, personally, prefer clean air which is why I support the Clean Air Act, for example. The reason we have less pollution than before Nixon, is due to Nixon and other Presidents passing laws that restrict our ability to mess up the environment. These laws are, by necessity, draconian. But there are many loopholes and cloud seeding is one of them.

Accumulations in the soil, vegetation, and surface runoff have not been large enough to measure above natural background[6]. A 1995 environmental assessment in the Sierra Nevada of California[7]and a 2004 independent panel of experts in Australia confirmed these earlier findings. The paper does include the names of the experts, their scientific qualifications or published research papers to support the assertion that cloud seeding will have no ecotoxic impacts or affect alpine waterways.

Of course, if seeding is done frequently over several centuries, it will have an impact. Humans have done various things like this for thousands of years and this changes the landscape. Humans are huge landscape changers. Even people who want to protect Nature want to also live in this Garden of Eden and often, like to do this with all the comforts of civilization and thus, end up degrading this magical garden.

Cloud seeding over Kosciuszko National Park – a Biosphere Reserve – is problematic in that several rapid changes of environmental legislation were made to enable the “trial”. Environmentalists are concerned about the uptake of silver in a highly sensitive environment affecting the pygmy possum amongst other species as well as recent high level algal blooms in once pristine glacial lakes. The ABC program Earthbeat on 17 July 2004 heard that not every cloud has a silver lining where concerns for the health of the pygmy possums was raised. The biggest killer of species is human industry and farming. And the very biggest is the building of cities. Balancing the desires of humans with the reality of nature is a harsh business. We have to decide, who will pay the price. We all want to eat exotic foods, all the time, all year round. We also want to protect Nature. We want to use water in deserts and we want rain where it doesn’t rain so we do artificial things to get what we want.

People who are upset about cloud seeding, for example, are not upset enough to move away from drought lands and live where there is no cloud seeding. If about 50 million extra people were to depart from the West, the need to seed clouds will cease. Of course, these humans insist on living out there so they get the downside. It is either, have no water, or try to find water, somehow.

This week, I received an article from a Mount Shasta newspaper titled “PG&E responds to cloud seeding concerns.” The article dated November 26, 2008, referred to PG&E’s “intention to conduct a five-year weather modification program in the Mount Shasta region.” Residents of Siskiyou County, including representatives from the Mt. Shasta District of the Winnemen Wintu Tribe, are expressing concern about the planned cloud seeding which would be achieved by “injecting silver iodide aerosol into already existing storm clouds with the hopes of creating more moisture.” .
Despite local concerns, PG&E has assured the public that there is no environmental downside to seeding with silver iodide.

See? The need for rain is great. The region has oodles of people who want to live in the Garden of Eden. These people also want to use water far in excess of what animals use, for example (most animals who are land creatures and not swimmers use water mainly for only drinking). Ooooh, gnarly, dudes! Gads, I forgot that stupid word! I remember everyone using it in San Francisco. I even used it *shudder*. Note that Ukiah has a drought! Like, wow, man, you know, isn’t groovy, man. I will also note that the participants in the above story met ‘on the trail’ which I am guessing, was them jogging. Farmers don’t jog. They work. Imagine a meeting where all the non-productive population is told to pack their bags and leave if they are against cloud seeding! Actually, this does happen.

Farmers want something to work, anything. As I constantly point out, many of the things people in the conspiracy side of the net complain about are actually NOT run by any mysterious elites but are demands from sectors in the public! For example, the latest H1N1 flu has gone ‘underground’ temporarily and so the clamor for vaccines has collapsed and is replaced with whining about side effects. Well, if and when this dangerous virus regains speed and force and resumes killing many people, I know for certain, many of the people who were scared of having bad dreams or discomforts will reverse course and besiege the government, screaming for more vaccines.

Already, the government is well behind production schedules. But the anti-vaccine propaganda has overwhelmed the pro-vaccine propaganda and we are in a Mexican stand-off. Back to rain: the nonfarmers in Ukiah are blissfully unaware of their own precarious condition. All is well so long as they turn on the tap and the water magically appears. But whoa! Even the nonfarmers are kind of aware of the water levels in the artificial lakes built by governments! Across large areas of the US, there are water shortages. Such as Georgia, just for example. Thanks to air conditioning, huge masses of population that once lived in gloomy, cool or cold places in the wet north have moved to happy, sunny places that have poor water services.

This long drought is an episodic matter. That is, generally, Australia doesn’t have much rain. But right now, they are in an increasing desertification cycle. They hope seeding will fix this. I say, IT WILL NOT FIX WHAT IS WRONG. Now, during the spring, the Bilderbergers and Rockefeller groups had a series of secret meetings that should not have been secret. These stupid meetings were all about ‘global warming’ and instead of drawing in all the people on earth into a proper debate about what is really going on, they decided to have a conspiratorial collaboration whereby they would all yell in unison that we will all die unless the peasants and city riffraff make their ‘carbon footprints’ very small…while the elites keep their own footprints gigantic!

More proof of the same. In New York, It’s the Summer That Isn’t – NYTimes.com is a story about how we have had nearly nonstop rain this summer. Out West: hardly any rain. Out East: nonstop rain. I see a thing going on here! This is good old Mother Nature having fun, of course. Taiwan just had 90 inches of rain in one typhoon! It destroyed everything, the floods tore up the entire landscape and destroyed all the crops! I seriously doubt Taiwanese farmers will be demanding cloud seeding!

Humans like to manipulate things. Even though cloud seeding doesn’t have a great record of success, it is still done. This is because doing nothing irritates humans. If we decide shooting lasers at clouds will produce rain or reduce rain, you can bet, we will do this all the time. The hilarious thing is, half of the population wants NO rain while half wants MORE rain! This means, they will fight like banshees with each other, screaming for more or less rain. Golfers, for example, hate rain. Rice farmers love rain. Haymakers want rain in July but not September. But resorts want sunny weather, not rain, in July. And so it goes: we are our own enemies. We are the problem.

Just like that, this pamphlet states boldly that scientists do possess Weather Warfare capability, and then lists some of the various individual capabilities. Aren’t we fortunate that the political leaders of the world have signed a piece of paper forbidding nations from using these weapons against each other? History is full of instances where pieces of paper called Treaties have been ignored almost from the moment they were signed.
However, this Treaty, or Convention, does not forbid political leaders from using these Weather Warfare weapons against their own people! This is what is occurring here, to convince Americans that our Industrial Civilization is so polluting the world that these storms are a natural result. Then, once they are so convinced, Americans will be amenable to changing our Industrial Civilization, and to moving into the U.N. Biodiversity Areas already mapped out. Indeed, my ox, Dale, died due to an ozone alert several years ago. It was nearly 100 degrees up here and the air was much more disgusting than the ‘chemspray’ stuff you are so freaked out over. The chemistry of the planet’s atmosphere is very compromised by a billion different things done by a billion humans.
Your need to see a conspiracy here is silly when the problem is the entire modern industrial and military complex systems! And the burning of fossil fuels is far worse than silly attempts at creating storms (which are very hit or miss!).

The correct spraying in the correct proportions of the correct chems can lead to spontaneous abortions. ( Not from DDT however, DDT kills skeeters quite nicely but is not going to make you wealthy via the spontaneous abortion gig ).

Cloud seeding is not the same as chem-trails. You’re confused, my dear. But it’s ok. There’s help. I would suggest getting yourself to a biologic dentist…they specialize in removing toxic mercury fillings. Because mercury doesn’t just stay put in your mouth as you say. Educate yourself in this area. And even if you’ve had resin or plastic fillings exchanged for metal ones it’s likely the mercury is still in your system (unless you used a dentist especially trained in its removal as conventional dentists in the US are uncaring about its toxicity). I would suggest chelation. Chlorella and cilantro are excellent as is high quality bentonite clay. In no time you’ll be thinking clearly again. (smiles)

@ CK- When they stopped using DDT in the 3rd world countries, this was death sentence for millions of innocent people there.There’s always a trade off when it comes to the use of chemicals for pest control, but in this case the trade off would have saved millions of lives, primarily children.
The environmental groups are a powerful wing of the NWO – they’re funded mainly by the NWO foundations and the oil companies. And yes, they are aware of chemtrails but refuse to address the issue. Green Peace in Europe has lost a lot of private wealthy donors over this refusal.
@ Elaine – You need to progress beyond what you call the ” chem stuff ” ( aerosol nano-particulate). Chemtrails are indeed toxic but people do adjust to some degree to these poisons in the same way that people are very sick when they first start smoking or drinking alcohol. As the body becomes inured, you don’t react to the toxicity in the same way…ie: less headaches and hangovers once you get used to your poison. Ultimately , of course,too many cigs or alcohol will kill you. The aerosols act the same way.
I never had more than a handful of headaches in my whole life. But after they started chemtrailing us heavily I suffered from migraines nearly every day. Now I’ve adapted somewhat to the poisoning and my headaches are less. Other symptoms are worsening, but I won’t get into that.
Now, as bad as chemtrails are….by FAR the greater danger is HAARP. The chemtrails are used to turn the atmosphere into what is known as a plasma state ( an ionized gas ). This plasma state is necessary so that HAARP and the other 50 phased array antennae systems can do their dastardly work.

I remember isolating bacteria in microbiology and observing the ring shaped growth pattern they create as the colony expands to consume easy to reach media at the leading edge. In America, I think, it’s not survival that’s in question, it’s whether we can make survival a little better, which includes preventing chaos from overwhelming society. And if the Chinese didn’t have their draconian one child laws, there would be a billion more Chinese. Even so, China’s population is GROWING, not shrinking. Had you taken the time to study the issue as others like Nightmareskies have done you might have figured out that HAARP is a weapons system with great potential for destruction.

Hang Seng, I’ve read with interest about Persinger’s work, using transcranial magnetic stimulation to evoke the feeling of other. It’s science to understand the brain. Why would anyone think it would be used as a weapon to control someone else (by [?] insert your opinion of who “them” is who’s out to get or control you, e.g. the elite, the CIA, aliens)? First off, it’s technically infeasible since it requires bulky equipment to generate the strong electric discharge through the coil to create the magnetic field, and the coil has to be on the surface of the scalp, and it doesn’t penetrate very deep into the brain. Second, why would anyone use this, and for what?
If anything, I think they’d be more likely to use the sound technology where they shoot sound waves so only a specific location/person can hear a sound – that would be spooky. While Elaine is out building a road with her friends, someone shoots the sound ray gun at her: “Elaine, this is Thor. OK, Elaine, maybe you’re right about what we should fear the most – the things that have the most potential for harm, like viral epidemics and world wars with horrible weapons of mass destruction. History has shown these things to be terrible. Even though these events are devastating, it seems they are the least probable things that will harm us – things that may or may not happen in the future. Why not worry about killer asteroids or exploding volcanoes / calderas, too? These things caused mass extinctions in the past. (I know, you do worry about them).
People fear things that are most real to them, most unknown to them, they feel most helpless to stop because it’s so enormous or bad or they are inadequate, or sometimes they really fear things when they see it up close and nobody else knows about it or cares about it.
Some of my fears lately are that the government and international bankers are really screwing up everything. That there’s a group of people conspiring to control everybody else with debt as money (or at least to enrich themselves at everyone else’s expense, parasites sucking the life-blood of the rest of productive society). This somehow seems more real, since it’s happening right now (been happening from London for around 300 years?), and effects a lot of people. Maybe these same people have an additional agenda of a fascist, one-world government. For me, it’s healthy to distrust government because, (1) they screw up most things they do, and (2) too much state control means less individual freedom.
Fear of chemtrails? I don’t know. It’s possible, but far-fetched. If it’s real, then it should be verifiable and backed up with science. Anyways, I still think in general it’s better not to be afraid too much, especially of far-away things that are either (1) not real, or (2) we can’t do anything about.

Anyone who denies that planes are spraying vast amounts of vapor or whatever into the atmosphere is a complete idiot. Planes have engines on their wings that face FORWARD. The shit spewing out of “chemtrail” planes is emmitted from behind and can be turned on and off. I live 15 min from JFK. I watch the commercial airliners take off and land all day. I never see them emmitting anything from behind. Yet I was in Italy, Jamaica, Ireland, Greece, and Portugal and saw “chemtrail” spraying in every such country. Why would Portugese farmers want this? Why would Irish farmers want this.?It rains enough in ireland as it is. Why would Jamaican farmers want cloudseeding? The farms in Jamaica are mostly family farms. I don’t know whats going on in the sky. All I know is the sky is being sprayed by jets, and they are not commercial airliners. The farmer argument is childish and idiotic. There has to be soemthing more to it than that. HAARP? Who knows. I don’t. However, to dismiss a global spraying campaign and blame it on farmers is so pathetic and ignorant it doesnt deserve comment.
Who is paying for a gazillion airplanes to spray stuff all over the world? Has any of the gazillion pilots come forward to reveal the scheme and the schemers?
I used to live in Coney Island which is near Kennedy Airport. I saw plenty of jets with trails of vapor. Good gods! The stuff people say online never ceases to amaze me.
The illogic of ‘chemtrail’ believers never cease to amaze me. Why on earth would someone do chemtrails over Jamaica???? Even the believer here, Ralph, can’t figure out a logical reason for this.
Hint to Ralph: this IS totally illogical and makes zero sense. So you should ditch your belief system as faulty and heed other explanations for vapor trails.

As a public service, I just wanted everyone to known that Elaine is a “communitarian” (though she claims to simply be a socialist).
I think it can be very interesting to discuss communism, socialism, capitalism, fascism – especially with people who disagree.
The problem with communitarians is that they are purposely deceitful. And it is no surprise as their unstated agenda is crazy as dog shit.
