US Dollar No Longer Main FOREX Currency

A meteorite came crashing through the stratosphere on Tuesday.  A reminder about what real danger is all about.  The US dollar is breaking apart in the stratosphere, too.  The FOREX holdings of all our major trade rivals is rapidly changing from sucking in US dollars to sucking in yen and euros.  Both Japan and the EU hate this but can’t stop it.  As I predicted in July, 2007, the final result of the US, EU and Japan demanding China strengthen the yuan while not demanding Japan strengthen the yen, has led to this global shift in dollar holdings.

Astronomy Picture of the Day

Screen shot 2009-10-15 at 8.52.00 AMThe brilliant fireball meteor captured in this snapshot was a startling visitor to Tuesday evening’s twilight skies over the city of Groningen.

.

In fact, sightings of themeteor, as bright as the Full Moon, were widely reported throughout the Netherlands and Germany at approximately 17:00 UT.

.

Accompanied by sonic booms and rumbling sounds, the meteor was seen to break up into bright fragments, eventually leaving a persistent smoke-like trail.

ΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩ

Led by China, of course.  China does a great deal of business with Japan so holding yen is very easy for China.  This fits into China’s foreign trade dealings and greatly satisfies Hu, the Dragon of China.  Japan started this fight in 2007 when China complained about how the US was allowing Japan to flood the US markets with high-profit/high cost autos while freaking out over Chinese imports.  China expected Japan to join in this fight as an ally.

From April 25, 2007:  Money Matters: China’s Trade With Japan Is Now Bigger Than Japan With USA

Instead, Japan verbally attacked China and even sneered that the US would never stop Japan and Japan has the right to flood US markets while letting in only a trickle of US trade.  Japan then backed up this boast by clipping US beef imports yet again.  We can’t even sell Japan food!  Well, all of this backfired on Japan and I predicted that the yen would begin to strengthen in August, 2007, due to China forcing it upwards.

ΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩ

This, in turn, triggered the end of the infamous Japanese carry trade which caused ‘liquidity’ to suddenly vanish across the entire planet and this, in turn, led to the banking crisis.  We now have a carry trade going.  With the US being the carry trade ZIRP entity.

Dollar loses reserve status to yen & euro

Ben Bernanke’s dollar crisis went into a wider mode yesterday as the greenback was shockingly upstaged by the euro and yen, both of which can lay claim to the world title as the currency favored by central banks as their reserve currency. .

Over the last three months, banks put 63 percent of their new cash into euros and yen — not the greenbacks — a nearly complete reversal of the dollar’s onetime dominance for reserves, according to Barclays Capital. The dollar’s share of new cash in the central banks was down to 37 percent — compared with two-thirds a decade ago. .

Currently, dollars account for about 62 percent of the currency reserve at central banks — the lowest on record, said the International Monetary Fund.

ΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩ

These ‘banks’ are mainly in China and the oil pumping nations.  When Iran tried opening a new oil market denominated in euros, the US and Europe crushed this very rapidly.  This is maybe why the demands for sanctions rose so rapidly in the summer of 2008.  Of course, these demands for sanctions also raised the price of oil very high last summer.  Since then, the drone for sanctions has continued but China and Russia have ignored this.

China’s Hu meets Russia’s Putin, painting rosy future_English_Xinhua

Chinese President Hu Jintao on Wednesday met with visiting Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, hailing fresh development of bilateral relationship and vowing closer collaboration. “Russia is one of the top agenda on China’s diplomacy as we pay much attention to relations with Russia,” Hu told Putin in their half an hour meeting in Diaoyutai State Guesthouse. .

Hu said this year was significant for China-Russia relations as both countries celebrated their 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties. Russia was the first country to establish diplomatic relations with China, days after the People’s Republic of China was founded on Oct. 1, 1949…. . ….”China would like to work more closely with Russia to enhance political trust and strategic coordination,” Hu said. “Let’s work together to take strategic partnership of coordination to a higher level,” Hu said. .

Putin said his China visit was very successful, marking “an important step forward” in bilateral cooperation. He said close exchanges between leaders of both nations contributed a lot to bilateral relations, which witnessed rapid progress in trade, energy and culture. Putin said the “Year of Russian Language” went on well in China and looked forward to the “Year of Chinese language” in Russia next year. .

During the “Year of Russian Language” in China, the two nations held more than 200 cultural exchange activities in about 20 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities in China…. .

….On Tuesday, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao hosted a red-carpet welcome ceremony for Putin, who is on his first official visit to China since taking office in May 2008. They held closed-door talks and witnessed the signing of 12 agreements, including the agreements on natural gas and oil.

ΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩ

This is just for the historical record here. Russia and China have been kissy-kissy ever since Putin’s big visit to China in 2006.  In stark contrast to how the US hosts visits from Russian or Chinese leaders, Hu rolled out the super-red carpet for Putin and gave him every courtesy imaginable including a big kung-fu display with Putin sitting on a throne and then joining in the hand to hand combat.

ΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩ

Putin now enjoys visiting China.  This is called ‘real diplomacy.’  And art form the US has forgotten since we became a global empire.  We think we invite people here to LECTURE them, not entertain and flatter them.  This penchant to either lecture visitors or worse, travel to other countries like Russia or China and lecture them right across the borders, is fatal to any real diplomacy.  One does this only when one wishes to start world wars.

ΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩ

See the picture of the disintegrating meteorite above: this is what our empire is doing.  We create sonic booms and lots or bright burning colors and then we die.  This is foolish.  Meteorites can’t control their travel plans.  We can.  Below is another even earlier cartoon from 2006:

ΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩ

Now, the US is in very grave financial trouble due to spending nearly a trillion dollars a year on warmongering.  This continuous fighting is in our captive nations where we try to control politics via killing lots of civilians.  This costs us an extra $100+ billion a year.  Obama just proposed giving the elderly and disabled a $250 bonus due to the fake cost of living grants being at 0% this year.

ΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩ

This will cost our government $12 billion!  HAHAHA.  Of course, this is ONE MONTH in Iraq and Afghanistan war spending.  So the GOP who got us sucked into these wars in the first place, is complaining bitterly that we have to balance the books!

ΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩ

Well, Obama can do this by pulling out of all the foreign countries we occupy.  Then he can cut the military budget by over 50% and voila! We will be much more solvent.  And the dollar will stop dying.

The Commodities ETF Crackdown Continues — Seeking Alpha

The threat of increased regulation from the Commodities Futures Trading Commission continues to impact the ETF industry. Increased position limits are designed to reduce the impact that ETFs such as United States Natural Gas (UNG) have on the price of the commodities they are designed to track. The latest chapters in the futures regulation saga are the shuttering of PowerShares DB Crude Oil Double Long ETN (DXO) and the reconfiguration of the PowerShares DB Agriculture (DBA) and PowerShares DB Commodity (DBC) ETFs…. .

…Rather than shutting down futures-based DBA and DBC, two other popular commodities ETFs from PowerShares and Deutsche Bank (DB), fund managers decided to restructure the underlying portfolios in order to stay within position limits. The CFTC altered the course of these two funds with new “safety position limits” and the revocation of an exemption that previously governed the fund’s futures-buying capabilities.

ΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩ

The investment banks are flooded with US funny money from the $12 trillion rescue.  Geithner’s top buddies at work in the Treasury are all gnomes from GS and JP Morgan and Citigroup.  So of course, they relined their pockets with this loot.  Arrest them all!

ΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩ

Goldman Sachs reports strong quarterly profits – Oct. 15, 2009

The big investment bank posted a $3.2 billion quarterly profit Thursday, crushing Wall Street estimates for the third straight quarter. .

New York-based Goldman (GS, Fortune 500) made $5.25 a share, up from $1.81 a year ago and well above the $4.24 analysts surveyed by Thomson Financial were forecasting. .

Goldman cited another strong quarter in its trading business, which has rebounded since the last half of 2008, when financial markets crumbled. .

Revenue at the fixed income, currency and commodities business soared to $6 billion from $1.6 billion a year ago, while equities trading revenue soared to $1.85 billion from $354 million a year earlier.

ΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩ

Goldman Sachs is directly responsible for the sudden surges and bubbles in commodity markets!  Even the gold surge is partially due to GS and JP Morgan playing the gold futures markets!  We don’t really need more commodity  market regulation, we need to break apart these hideous monsters who created the Derivatives Beast and use it for funding forays into futures markets!  And of course, there is this flood of US trade dollars held in world FOREX holdings!

ΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩ

That is, the Chinese and oil pumping nations are all now feeding dying dollars into FX markets where they exchange these for yen or euros or GOLD.  Or they use these dollars to buy into futures markets in all commodities.  China is going hugely into the rare earths markets and has pretty much cornered these markets!

ΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩ

Basically, Bush and then Obama both saved GS and JPM so both can go looting the rest of the planet via futures markets.  They have to drive up the price of nearly everything so they can then sell at a profit and cause inflation.  OOOPS.  Yes, commodity price bubbles ARE inflation in its rawest form!

ΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩ

For example, last time we got a $250 retiree bonus, this was supposed to boost spending in the summer of 2008.  Every penny of this money ended up being eaten by soaring energy costs!  I know that I spent all of my ‘bonus’ on higher energy costs.  I didn’t even run my backhoe much that summer because no one could afford the high overhead costs of diesel which was nearly $5 a gallon back then.

Saudis want US to pay for reducing oil usage | Raw Story

A new gambit by the oil-dealing kingdom would have Western oil guzzlers paying for using less oil. Sounds like the opposite of reality, you say? The Saudis say it’s the only way they’ll be able to afford helping the fight against global warming. .

The New York Times frames the Saudi idea as, “if wealthy countries reduce their oil consumption to combat global warming, they should pay compensation to oil producers.” .

Saudi climate negotiator, Mohammad al-Sabban, described the position as a “make or break” measure for the oil-heavy kingdom in the lead-up to global climate negotiations in Copenhagen.

ΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩ

This is too funny.  Imagine Europe paying Russia for reducing natural gas consumption!  I bet the Russians are grinning ear to ear over this proposal and will probably echo it.  On top of this, Russia has ZERO reason to worry about global warming.  If Siberia becomes verdant and is a milder climate, Russia will be much richer and more powerful!  So global warming is a stunning winner for Russia!

ΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩ

Canada is in the same position.  Dutifully, the Canadians fret about global warming but secretly, in their hearts, they know that Canada will blossom in this situation.  The rest of the world has to convince these two giant energy producers that global warming is evil and therefore, both countries should be compensated for losing the value of their vast potential agricultural lands if they try to keep the freezing cold status quo going longer.

Russia Resists U.S. Position on Sanctions for Iran – NYTimes.com

Denting President Obama’s hopes for a powerful ally in his campaign to press Iran on its nuclear program, Russia’s foreign minister said Tuesday that threatening Tehran now with harsh new sanctions would be “counterproductive.” The minister, Sergey V. Lavrov, said after meeting with Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton here that diplomacy should be given a chance to work, particularly after a meeting in Geneva this month in which the Iranian government said it would allow United Nations inspectors to visit its clandestine nuclear enrichment site near the holy city of Qum.

ΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩ

The Iran sanctions are dead.  I don’t see this happening.  The US can’t bribe people into supporting this. That is, the dying dollar can’t buy no love, baby!  Toodles to yoy all!

Coordinated Attacks Hit Multiple Sites in Pakistan – NYTimes.com

Three groups of militants dressed in police uniforms simultaneously attacked three law enforcement agencies in Lahore on Thursday morning, the fifth major attack by militants inPakistan in the last 10 days. More than 30 people were killed, including 19 police officers and at least 11 militants, police officials said. .

The coordinated attacks, the most sophisticated in a wave that began this month, threw parts of Lahore into chaos. Officials in the capital, Islamabad, expressed dismay and surprise that another assault was under way, aimed specifically at the nation’s struggling law enforcement apparatus.

ΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩ

And Pakistan is burning.  Stupidly, the Pakistani dictator shoved troops into tribal lands and flushed everyone out including huge numbers of irritated, annoyed and filled with hatred natives who decided, now that they are ensconced in the heart of the Pakistani headquarters, why not fight there?

ΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩ

In typical Mao-styled actions whereby the revolutionaries swim in the sea of the people, these fighters are now nearly impossible to find.  They are everywhere and nowhere at once.  They can come boiling out of the woodwork at any moment.  And Pakistan is now doomed.  And of course, one thing the revolutionaries would love to have is the nuclear arsenal so they can use this to force the US to retreat for good.  That is, threaten us with nuclear terrorism unless we stop terrorizing them with our Predator robot assassin missiles.

Riots Rattle Ancient French Town – washingtonpost.com

Under a bright autumn sun, the narrow lanes of ancient Poitiers teemed with families enjoying a lighthearted celebration of street theater. Suddenly, a knot of black-clad youths emerged from the crowd. They donned plastic masks, pulled up their hoods and started destroying everything in sight. .

In what police described as an organized attack, the band shattered store windows, damaged the facades of several banks and spray-painted anarchist slogans on government buildings. Aiming even at the historical heritage of this comfortable provincial town 200 miles southwest of Paris, they fractured a plaque commemorating Joan of Arc’s interrogation here in 1429 and — in Latin — scrawled “Everything belongs to everybody” on a stone baptistery that is one of the oldest monuments in Christendom…. .

….”We will destroy your morbid world,” one of the Poitiers protesters sprayed-painted on a wall near the city’s landmark Notre Dame Cathedral.

ΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩ

This is nihilism.  Nihilism is the final result of anarchism.  That is, it becomes a death force.  The world is always ‘morbid’ and no, everything does not belong to everyone.  When that happens, we get a junk yard.  No one cleans anything, no one is responsible for anything.

ΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩ

I used to live in an anarchist collective.  I ended up running the joint because I am a clean freak and didn’t like people throwing things all over the place.  All the anarchist joints I have known ended up looking like garbage dumps.  Everything is broken.  Vermin proliferates.

ΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩ

These fatalistic youth are imitating that horrible movie, ‘V’.  I hated that movie and still hate it a great deal.  It was totally politically backwards and outright evil.  The main character is a two-faced (hahaha) bastard who uses flimsy political excuses to torture and mutilate a beautiful woman just so he could have his demented jollies.  YUCK.

ΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩ

As a former rape victim, I don’t see any redeeming value in the movie and it is spawning something rather ugly and destructive.  Honest to god, we don’t have to destroy civilization in order to fix some rather obvious things!  But then, this is all about the Cave of Wealth and Death.  That is, we go nuts around wealth and end up killing everything around ourselves.  This is a philosophical storyline I am rather happy to repeat periodically.

ΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩ

That is, we MUST figure out the riddles of the Sphinx at the Portal to the Cave of Wealth and Death.  Once we understand that balance is the key, we are then able to be happy and comfortable.  But we want everything, all the time.  It is in our natures. We need eternal and infinite wealth and power.  And this is fatal.  Balance is a very important concept.  And is the antithesis of radicalism.

” Russia was the first country to establish diplomatic relations with China, days after the People’s Republic of China was founded on Oct. 1, 1949…. ”

The USSR funded and backed Mao , who went on to slaughter 70 million Chinese.

It’s a well known fact that the USSR would have collapsed under its own Marxist steam within the first 15 years without funding from the west. That’s how the NWO game works.

    ΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩ

ELAINE: Communist revolutions followed right in the wake of the collapse of all the European empires. Whatever funds any revolution got was dwarfed by the rising fury and power of the revolutions themselves. They were their own power base. This confusion about communist revolutions is due to propaganda output. That is, the West just couldn’t believe that any former colonial state could rise up and throw out their European rulers by themselves. It always had to be the fault of Russia.

so far, all the efforts of washington and wall street have been directed at re-inflating the credit bubble and the housing bubble. trillions of dollars pumped into all that, and what do we have to show for it? what happens when the current bubbles burst? if no one wants the dollar any more, then the only way the government can finance itself anymore is to print more money. hello hyperinflation!

I liked very much the V for vendetta , V is kinda crazy but the essence of the movie must remain , i see now the US going into the same way , a dictatorship country to protect the people from the economic collapse and the great disease (swine flu anyone ? ). The NWO is a dead man walking. As difficult as an energy plateau will be for the average citizen or nation, it will be a catastrophe for the NWO power structure which exists at the font of the increase in money supply called for by year over year increases in oil output.

No more oil than last year, no more credit than last year, no more NWO power structure. It’s only a matter of time before NWO guys start bumping each other off, that’s what so intriguing about a “heart palpitation” death.

  11. justiceatsqualor

petronorway, what is the “Pakistan paradox”?

  12. petronorway

That as Elaine says “the Pakistani dictator shoved troops into tribal lands and flushed everyone out including huge numbers of irritated, annoyed and filled with hatred natives who decided, now that they are ensconced in the heart of the Pakistani headquarters, why not fight there?”. The paradox being that by killing off the terrorists he has killed off himself…. Nothing is obvious……

  13. justiceatsqualor

    yes, it’s similar.

  14. Jim Dandy

Elaine, as the dollar debases, there should be a reduction in the trade deficit, which is in fact happening. There should be a reduction of credit availability, which is happening.

Rather than conclude in a complete decimation, I would venture to say the logical conclusion is a rebuilding of our manufacturing infrastructure, and thus true wealth creation. People are finally waking up to this and the government is now making SOME investments in infrastructure, manufacturing or otherwise.

It’s hard to bet against the US economy. I would put this countries infrastructure up against any in the world.

So what is your call for the euro, yen and yuan over the next 12-18 months?

    ΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩ

ELAINE: There are two ways to reduce a trade deficit. One is to commit economic suicide by having a raging depression. The other is to use tariffs and barriers. The first method destroys public finances and pushes 20% of the population into starvation and death while the latter method produces jobs and funds the government.

  15. justiceatsqualor

    Jim Dandy,

The siren song of hyperinflation: when both the government and the people are deep in debt and there is high unemployment and the budget exceeds tax revenue. . . Printing money solves the budget problem, decreases real government debt and real personal debt through currency devaluation, and the same currency devaluation gives a boost to exports, which translates into a boost for jobs. That’s the crack. . . Instead of putting on the brakes at that point, governments throughout history have stepped on the gas. . . call it political short-term-ism. . . call it a crack-head. . . the result is the same: hyperinflation.

  16. justiceatsqualor

what’s worse, given the insight, I don’t think the fed has the tools to increase interest rates at this point. Untold trillions of sub-par derivatives, debt, and securities have been held up as collateral for loans from the fed at 0%. Interest rates of 2% on those trillions would bankrupt JPM and Goldman even if they had strong reserves.

    ΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩ

ELAINE: Correct. This is why Japan has been mired in a depression ZIRP system for nearly 20 years now.

  17. melponeme_k

Absolutely correct about “V for Vendetta”. This nihilistic theme runs through popular culture as of late. “Harry Potter” advocates torture in the last volume and labels it “noble”.

What this is, is a warning sign. Its the sign of a culture that is dying and will destroy everything with it. Plus most of the young people can not get jobs or lost jobs and it is making them terribly angry and revolutionary. Now we have to fear who or what takes control of that anger. The past has shown us that its not the best of people that do so.

How can we stop it? I know it calls for the current President to flip the bird at the financial military industry but he won’t do it. So what now?

    ΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩ

  21. Onion

V for Vendetta is not nihilist. It is specifically anti-totalitarian. The anti-hero is a misogynist creep, murderer and suicide bomber. I don’t think a clean-cut hero would have ‘worked’ as well for the part.

It resonates, more so with time. Adam Sutler ranting about security seems a pale imitation of Gordon Brown telling us Allied soldiers are in Afghanistan to keep British streets safe. A lie repeated by his cabinet. Art imitates life.

V’s bombing targets – the state broadcaster, houses of Parliament, old Bailey – served a specific political purpose, as opposed to the aimless actions of the pointless Poitiers protestors. It was to set people free from the totalitarian regime that had enslaved them. You might not agree with any of it, but it can hardly be described as nihilism

    ΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩ

ELAINE: V is a revenge movie. The hero is a destructive monster who is out of control. He is also a sexual deviant. He has NO view of the future and this very nihilist movie ends with the equivalent of a Reichstag fire and you can bet, a Hitler with similar sexual deviancies would have taken over.

@ Elaine – The Russian Revolution wasn’t a ‘people’s’ revolution and it wasn’t about freeing themselves from the czars . It was a bloody power grab.

The czars were already implementing the land reforms and other measures that the peasants wanted. But they were doing this at a snail’s pace.

Along come Trotsky, Lenin, and the boys to stir the pot. They gained support among the trade unions in Moscow. Others throughout Russia eventually threw some support their way as well. This was because the Russians were sick and tired of dying in the trenches of WW1 and the Commies promised to put a stop to this.

The Russians were none to happy when the Commies then turned the tables and conscripted the unwilling Russian people into their OWN Red Army. That’s when the REAL slaughter began.

Millions more died in the Russian Revolution than ever died on the front lines of WW1.

The reason this revolution was so very long and so very bloody was because, outside of Moscow, the Reds did NOT have the support of the majority of the Russian people.

And who funded these power grabbers ? I think you know the answer to that one.

It offends the conservative and horrifies the liberal.
It and Serenity, two superb movies.
Tis a shame they didn’t make good movies like that before.

    Let us remember
    that late eve in september
that Evey was on her way
to be shtupped by an onscreen personality
    at the television reality
where she toiled as an actual
    nonentity.
    She was prepared
to allow her silky thighs to part
for a part of a man that would lead
to a bigger part for her at her job.
    She thought.
    Oh how darling
    how droll
    how absolutely smashing
    when later we discover later
    that the onscreen personality
is not inclined to the enjoyments of femininity’s valuta.
And he has a beautiful Koran to boot.
    Eggies in a basket anyone?

Sky, you have no ability to understand history. Good gods! There were a number of uprisings in Russia before WWI. The whole business of organizing workers and peasants is OLD HAT in Russia prior to the Revolution.

This is why it took only a small spark to set off revolution there during WWI.

What was different between pre-WWI Russian uprisings and uprisings during the war?

Simple: before 1914, the Russian workers and peasants didn’t have access to weapons. During the war, the government armed them!!!

HAHAHA. And all revolutions happen only after the people are armed. This is why Stalin disarmed everyone not once but twice.

Russia was losing WWI when there was an uprising. In WWII, Russia was winning after Stalingrad. And since the Germans were very, very brutal and vicious, the Russians were much more interested in going after them, not Stalin.

But after the war, Stalin was scared to death of his own generals and did the usual thing: killed them. And again, disarmed the people.

  27. Sky

@ Elaine- When they finally got out of WW1 the Russian people were sick to death of war. Millions of their youth were dead.

They were impoverished, exhausted, emotionally drained, grieving. These were FARMERS for God’s sake.

The LAST thing these people wanted was MORE war. That’s why the Reds met with such resistance . The villagers did NOT want to join the Red Army. They were forced to. It was join up, or a bullet through your head, or a bullet through your family’s heads.

After the Reds had burned down and razed enough villages , the Russian peasants got the message. Join the Reds when forced to and maybe you’ll have a chance at life, or choose a bullet right here and now.

The Ukraine , was among the last areas to fall. There was fierce resistance here. Not only did you have the Red Army and the White Army, there was also a Green Army and a Black Army.

But the Ukraine paid the price for this resistance in the form of the Holodomor ( the Ukranian Holocaust, where 7-8 million Ukranians were deliberated starved to death by the Reds ).

I’ll never forget who funded Lenin and Trotsky. And neither should you.

  28. Hi,
Interesting blog…..this Internet is so huge that everyday you will be surprised of news and content on sites like this one…

Here a bit of reply on the above post:
Yes these days are hard for the american dollar and it may be so, within a couple months, sooner or later, that the dollar will be no longer the major player in the world of currencies.
The dollar’s role is being challenged as the world’s main reserve currency!!
What will be the next major currency: Yuan or Euro??………..

    Keep on going….. Floyd

@Elaine: Where do I begin? We can debate whether it is a myth or an inconvenient truth about the Japanese offering to surrender, I have said before one day we can hopefully compare our sources of information. What surprises me is how you cavalierly gloss over and justify the decision by sociopaths to incinerate 220,000 unarmed civilians (http://tinyurl.com/3u583), mostly women and children in Hiroshima & Nagasaki, so they could expeditiously reign in “warlords” whom according to you were the problem. Sounds to me like the same justification used by the inbred progeny of the very same sociopaths to attack Iraq, as retribution for for 9/11, eh?  WTF!!?? Pardon my Bushism, but wasn’t it Bush’s grandfather Prescott who financed both the Nazi’s and the Japanese, why not nuke them too, because they are “Americans”?

Worse, you have more compassion for a fictional character in a movie than the civilians in Hiroshima & Nagasaki! A movie which (I agree with Onion) is anti-totalitarian, not nihilist. Please show me where “V” was a sexual deviant in the movie. Did we even watch the same movie!!??

Regarding HAARP, until you yourself stop believing the “swill” you were fed growing up, by people whom according to you have not shown you any compassion for most of your life, I respectfully suggest you introspect and analyze the consistency in your belief system. You have declared many times your distrust against the people who raised you and the agencies they represented, yet you believe their version of history, quite inconsistent.

In everything I have said Elaine, I mean no disrespect. However, to keep it real in our exchanges I must speak my mind and you should expect no less since you are the benchmark, yes? Peace.

@CK: your explanation of “V”, the participation of Evey and the Inspector, its effects on statist, conservative and liberal is spot on! Eloquently phrased I might add. BTW, done on the tofu! I will throw in dessert, Orange Grand Marnier cake for you and an eggless Carrot Walnut with cream cheese topping for me. No bulls please, in another incarnation maybe a couple of fillies. LOL.

@Sky: I certainly will never forget who funded the Nazi’s, the Red’s, and the Imperial Japanese. Selective memory is part of the American dream unfortunately. Consider yourself blessed.

BTW just returned from our relief sortie. It went like clockwork, covered 320 miles, reached 6 townships and 3,000 families in two days. We have vastly improved on our coordination & release over the last four sorties. Next week we repeat the process again. It’s time consuming though because we release directly to victims. But hey, it fills one’s cup to fill another’s, like no other. Peace.

CC, sitting on my duff here in London, I’d like to make a small contribution to your heroic efforts. Do you have a paypal account?

The world community was very generous to our citizens in the aftermath of Katrina, but since then I’d bet that all of the many tsunami and flood disasters, combined with a truly crapped economy, have created a situation of compassion fatigue.
Elaine is correct about one thing. We in the West, despite our many problems, are spoiled and take for granted a level of comfort that is not be found in most spots around the world.

    A quote to enjoy:
“Yet, rather than hating the predatory state, the masses have been conditioned to love this blood-soaked beast and even, if called upon, to lay down their lives and the lives of their children on its behalf. From my vantage point on the outside, peering in, I am perpetually mystified that so many people are taken in by the phony claims and obscurantist party rhetoric. As the song says, “clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right,” but unlike the fellow in the song, I am not “stuck in the middle.” Instead, I float above all of this wasted emotion, looking down on it with disgust and sadness. Moreover, as an economist, I am compelled to regret such an enormously inefficient allocation of hatred.”

About HAARP: I know a great deal of what was going on in the past via spying on my own parents. This is why I know that HAARP is hooey.

CK: Higgs is indulging in the usual whining. That is, he doesn’t want to fight for anything in particular. Or rather, he is annoyed that people don’t jump the same hoops he jumps through.

This is all along the lines of calling people ‘sheeple’ etc. I don’t do this.

Also, he thinks that partisan politics is bad. Well, we could battle over real issues. But this means taking sides somehow. And the more we have issues, the more DIVIDED we are. Note the run up to the Civil War, for example.

Politics has been hijacked by people with deep pockets. We need to unite on campaign finance reforms. Only many people don’t want to do this work, shoving Congress to clean up its act. It is more fashionable to wash ones hands of all this and declare that there was some fabled time in the past with no government, that is, anarchy.

So it is very hard to point people towards working together to effect change that is real. But this doesn’t mean we stop. I have been doing this all my life. And will do this till I die.

After all, my grandmother was a women’s right feminist. She got the vote and a few sops thrown to her but that was it. I still had to sue for my own obvious civil rights after the Civil Rights Act passed in 1964. Many of the things I wanted to change didn’t change until the last 20 years which is 100 years after my grandmother began her fight when she demanded to go to the University of Chicago to earn her degree in astronomy.

@Angela: Your kind offer is very much appreciated. I personally do not accept donations even if I do have a PayPal account. The group I work with in relief operations generates funding internally and like to keep it low key, however, one of the groups we coordinate with is the Philippine National Red Cross, and they do accept donations and also have a PayPal account. You may consider coursing your contribution through this institution. I have seen their operations, very professional and the goods are directly distributed to the victims, just like my group does. http://www.philippineaid.com/

@CK: I concur with the view of Higgs, but it is only half the solution. Identifying the problem is the first of many steps that have to be taken to find a solution. I very much agree with Elaine, talk is cheap, identifying and isolating the problem has to be followed through by “planning through consensus” a solution, and finally implementing it properly. Unfortunately, as Elaine has so aptly pointed out, the bigger problem is, “Politics has been hijacked by people with deep pockets”. Don’t I know it! I live it every freakin’ day in this country I call a “poor facsimile of the USA”!

People usually change for one of two reasons, inspiration or desperation. When I look at both our countries, I see that the path we are on politically is identical, and the motivation to change will come through desperation. We may have one advantage though, this recent flooding impacted all levels of society, from the poorest of the poor to the elite families. Everyone shared the same misery. I suspect Providence was reminding everyone that they have nothing to be proud off, since everything they have is provided by Destiny, even their stupidity.

CC, there are more floods in your homelands this week. It is terrible! My condolences, more lives were lost.

  38. criticalcontrarian

@Elaine: Thanks for your concern. No much flooding this time, the typhoon was more wind than rain. Gusty and it almost hit Manila directly, we were taking up to 120mph gusts for almost 4 hours. Good thing the rain was minimal compared to the last one. Also, the mooks in government have been taking a lot of heat fro the way they handled the bleeding of the dams during the typhoon. They are awake now, and a few should be shot.
