ΩΩThe Great Depression of the 21st Century continues to follow nearly exactly the same path all previous Great Depressions. The seemingly inescapable dynamics of all depressions means there are iron clad rules for credit bubbles since all Great Depressions, without any exceptions, follow directly in the wake of credit bubbles. The Federal Reserve and Keynes followers believe that controlling the money supply can prevent credit bubbles but this theory has been shown to be irresponsible. Nor does the gold standard stop credit bubbles. This is because banks cause credit bubbles and even more importantly, credit bubbles are extremely popular and thus, very much encouraged.
ΩΩWhat the gold reserve did was prevent trade deficits. This awesome fact is steadfastly ignored by both the gold bug community and the mainstream economists. Indeed, I believe that there is virtually no one as irritated as I am about trade deficits. If I wanted to be a popular writer, I would ignore this matter, too, like nearly everyone does these days. This ignorance about the trade deficit has caused the US to slide into the world’s deepest and longest trade deficit pit that overwhelms other imperial trade deficit pits of the past that destroyed China and Turkey in the 19th century, Spain in the 17th century, ancient Rome, and so forth.
.
ΩΩAs the second stage of this present Great Depression continues to grind up our debt obligations, the US would love to default on all our debts which are the greatest on earth (this is why most writers prefer to talk about our GDP to debt ratio rather than the actual amount owed). This desire to go bankrupt is a fine dream interrupted by tossing and turning with very hidden fears that ending our debt woes means also going without our cars, our homes and our lovely first world lifestyle which is based entirely on exchanging IOUs for a vast array of world production in goods and energy.
.
ΩΩOf course, we want to keep the present goodies system going to infinity since it means living forever on easy, cheap credit and this is the definition of a credit bubble: the worst credit bubbles ever happen to be when empires run trade deficits! End of story. These trade deficits are, by definition, international and often global. The Roman trade deficit spanned Eurasia and African trade routes and the collapse of Rome caused terrific dislocations from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific shores in distant Asia. The Silk Road morphed from a trade route to the road for barbarian invasions which hammered both China and the Mediterranean Sea Roman Empire.
.
ΩΩWe just had the annual Jackson Hole central banker picnic. Bernanke Says Fed Has Tools to Prevent a Recession, Avoids Stimulus Pledge: This headline shows how insane our central bankers are. If they can prevent recessions (this is NOT a mere recession!) then why the hell didn’t they prevent it? They know that the entire and ONLY excuse for them existing is the promise to prevent inflation and recessions and their track record is even more miserable than the trade deficit track record. Any child can see that our central bank is totally useless in preventing either inflation or deflation. Most certainly, the Fed has enabled and created the most massive debt bubble in the history of this planet and this is with Japan trying its hardest to be even worse.
.
.
ΩΩThe real news is all about the trade deficit as far as I am concerned. Usually, Great Depressions lead countries into restricting trade. There is a reason for this caution which is clearly illustrated by this news: European Economic Confidence Improves to Highest in Two Years on Exports. Yes, Europe is on an exporting binge! And guess who is buying? One big buyer is the US which is seeing an expanding trade deficit again and the other importer of European goods is China. This puts the Chinese Dragon into an even stronger position than before.

ΩΩUnlike the US, China still runs a trade surplus so importing high quality, high end German technology is an overall plus especially since these
goods are enhancing China’s ability to manufacture high end quality goods. As Germany’s trade expands by over 50% in one year (!!!!) Germany’s need to placate the US drops by the same amount. The only way we have to court Germany in international affairs is to enable German exports to the US
to grow at the same rate as it is growing with China! The US recently expended tremendous amounts of political and diplomatic energy in trying to strong arm Germany into terminating quite a bit of well-paid commerce with Iran. This hurt German businesses and irks the Germans though they won’t talk about it in public because it means talking about Netanyahu and the Israeli fascists.
...
ΩΩSome Germans are fearful about this trade with China not because they hate the Chinese but because they know that China is a direct rival for German/Japanese industrial domination of the US markets: Beijing’s High-Tech Ambitions: The Dangers of Germany’s Dependence on China – SPIEGEL ONLINE –
But on this day Merkel doesn’t have much time for niceties. Of course she admires the country’s economic vitality, she says, and is impressed by how quickly China has overcome the financial crisis. But, she adds, it’s also important to address the country’s deficits — which she then proceeds to do.
China’s protections for intellectual property are not up to Western standards, says Merkel. Besides, she adds, Chinese companies have the bad habit of siphoning off technical expertise from their German partners.
At the end of her speech, the German chancellor hands the future elite of the Chinese Communist Party a few lessons in democracy. There are currently five parties in the German parliament, she says, and although this can be vexing at times, it’s also productive, because the multiparty system ensures that every issue and every cause finds a voice. “This is why we ask ourselves: Can one party achieve as much as five parties achieve in our country?”
.
Ah! Typical! The US and NATO nations love to trot off to China to lecture them about how wonderful our ‘democracies’ are and how the Chinese should imitate us! Every issue does NOT find a voice in either Germany or the US or any NATO ‘democracy’. The populace is often sent off on wild goose chases when they should be concentrating on cornering the fox that stole the chickens. In this case, the foxes are the bankers who loaded trillions in IOUs onto these democracies making governments the bankrollers for a Mount Everest of private debts.
.
The Chinese elites at these universities know this! They are not stupid. One thing that greatly impressed me with the Chinese officials who lived with me during the early 1980′s was how they drank up information like a sponge and learned harsh lessons very swiftly. They wanted to learn and learned very fast! The vexations of the ‘multiparty’ systems in the West are obvious to Chinese observers: no matter who is elected, the same policies remain firmly in place which is why the US Democrats are going down in flames after keeping nearly all of the Bush policies cemented in place.
Merkel’s open words in the heart of a one-party dictatorship clearly illustrate how the chancellor — all diplomatic niceties aside — feels about Germany’s East Asian trading partner. She is well aware of the opportunities in the world’s largest market, which is home to 1.3 billion people. But Merkel also knows that business leaders in Germany are starting to feel uneasy about the unstoppable rise of Chinese industry.
.
ΩΩThis has absolutely nothing to do with democracy versus Chinese one party rule. The Germans ache to have one party rule if it means Germany were to shoot upwards like China! The unstoppable Chinese industry is simple to understand: no longer fettered by an insane communist leader (Mao and his goofy wife), no longer controlled even slightly by foreign oppressors or invaders (Europe and Japan) the Chinese resumed taking their natural place in world dynamics as one of the greatest and incidentally, oldest empires on earth. The sheer numbers of Chinese overwhelms both Germany and Japan’s numbers, both of which are in steep decline due to lack of babies.
.
ΩΩWe are supposed to not talk about this but I will anyway: the Han Chinese are over 90% of the population. The minorities there are very minor. There isn’t a 20%+ flood of illegal and legal immigrants so the balance is totally in favor of the Han population unlike the US where the ‘white European’ population is now slightly more than half of the population and the Protestant white population now has zero representation in the Supreme Court, for example (I consider this a very dangerous sign for the future…it feeds fascism and can lead to the end of the Supreme Court as well as other systems that have steadily been muscling out white European Protestants…this is backlash territory). Israel is only 67% European white Jews and if we include the ‘occupied territories’ are a very distinct minority, which is why the Jews are growing more and more fascist as they seek the only possible solution to their increasing minority status: ethnic cleansing.
.
ΩΩGermany is also 90% ‘German’ but this is the result of hideous fascist ethnic cleansing and the birthrate of ‘Germans’ is far lower than the new immigrant population which is mostly Turkish or Eastern European. Japan which is mostly a one party state until last year, has a 98+% ‘Japanese’ population because they don’t tolerate even the slightest inflows from any country especially from Korea and China.
.
ΩΩDespite Germany and Japan having about the same ethnic statistics as China (unlike the US which is heading straight towards ethnic warfare on many fronts) they are at a severe disadvantage with China due to the simple fact, China’s population is over 1.3 billion of which a very significant proportion is highly educated and very motivated and quite aggressively active and full of intense energy and a desire to get richer whereas the other two industrial giants are only 83 million in Germany and 127 million (this includes many dead elderly so it is a totally suspicious statistic!) for a total of slightly over 200 million which is a very tiny fraction of China’s population.
.
ΩΩNote the graph from the Der Spiegel article! China churns out 18 times more college graduates! There is no way around this. In Germany, the birthrate is highest with populations that are less likely to seek higher education. Here is an old NYT story from over 100 years ago about all of this: Education in Germany. from the summer of 1896.
.
ΩΩBack then, the newspapers talked quite openly about race, religion and various things that are now hopelessly censored today. No one can understand the Holocaust without understanding this piece of the puzzle. The Germans opened up the ghettos (in stark contrast to the Jews mistreatment of the Palestinians today) and released a flood of urban youth who were forbidden previously to own farms or live off the land. They lived off of their wits (again: identical to Gaza today!) so when the Universities opened their doors to this urban population which loved learning and was already very literate, a flood of Jews poured in.
.
ΩΩLook at the statistics in this 1896 news article! The Roman Catholic students were very few, they mostly lived in the Bavaria region and were basically peasants. The Protestants were 50 per 10,000 which meant, previous to the opening of the ghettoes, they dominated all the top education and government positions but 28% of the Jewish population was very highly educated compared to only 2% of the Protestant population was highly educated.
.
ΩΩThis led directly towards the hideous ethnic cleansing event a mere 40 years later. The Chinese do not have this problem. They graduate only a fraction of their own population but there is no ethnic minority that is being educated at a far, far faster rate so there is no ethnic tensions AT THE TOP unlike with Germany where it ballooned rapidly at the top.
.
ΩΩI know people get tied up in knots when discussing these things, the ‘verboten’ business of not being able to openly talk leads to the Tea Party sort of ethnic issues being kept slightly below the horizon and the noise over the Arizona illegal immigrants laws are being discussed on a totally off-the -radar fashion (for example, no mention dare be made about half of the Supreme Court being Catholic even though Catholics are, even after a lot of immigration from the southern areas, is only 20% of the population) we do know that looking at things realistically, we foresee a great deal of ethnic tension due to these imbalances. China’s ethnic wars are quite real but are confined to distant provinces, not the heartland and the centers of learning (the ethnic minorities tend to despise the Chinese university system in the same way a number of minorities in the US despise book learning) but the US minorities are like Germany’s minorities before WWI: in the heart of all the major cities.
.
And the US lags behind nearly all trade rivals: Countries with the highest college graduation rates – Ireland, 43.9 percent – CSMonitor.com
Among today’s American 25- to 34-year olds, slightly more than 40 percent have associate’s degrees or higher. But that rate places the US only 12th of the 36 countries in a College Board study of countries with the highest graduation rates.
.
ΩΩBank of Japan Expands Bank-Loan Program as Yen’s Climb Threatens Expansion: there is a lot of news about the yen. The carry trade continues to violently unwind and even though Japan exports more and more to China, this won’t replace the losses in US trade. Dollar Drops Against Yen as Data Fuel Concern That Recovery Is Faltering: the ONLY tool the US has at this point is to weaken the dollar and thus, stop floods of imports. This is a stupid tool and doesn’t work. 40 years of total failure should show us this fact. Anyway, even though the yen is up, the euro is down so Japanese exports slow down but Europeans (mostly German) go up!
.
ΩΩJapan’s Kan Steps Up Effort to Curb Yen’s Strength, Pressures Central Bank: Japan had to pretend to not manipulate the currency during the years the US was screaming about China manipulating the currency. Now, desperate Japan will ignore all of this and lunge for a cheap yen.
ΩΩThe yen has steadily strengthened against the dollar since we ended the gold standard but this has done ought to stop the trade deficit with Japan. It is simple: Japan imports virtually nothing of real value except for Boeing jets and weapons. We can’t expand exports to Japan because Japan won’t accept them no matter how cheap. Yen’s rise may lead 40% of makers to shift production abroad: survey › Japan Today. Yikes. This means exporting labor to China and SE Asia. President Wen went to Japan this week and demanded higher wages for Chinese workers: http://www.japantoday.com wen-says-japanese-companies-wages-too-low-in-china. No US President will do this for us. Japan is allowed to hire auto assemblers in the US at much lower wages than US corporations making autos, just for example. And get a red carpet treatment, too, while doing this. Yen Plays Catch-Up for Asia With Target 75 to Dollar (Update3) – Bloomberg.com:
Japan’s currency needs to rise 47 percent to equal its strength in the mid-1990s based on the Westpac Real Effective Exchange Rate Trade Weighted yen index, which accounts for an inflation rate that’s been mostly negative since 1998. Deutsche Bank AG, the world’s biggest foreign-exchange trader, estimates on that same basis the yen would have to gain to 55 per dollar from 85.22 last week to match the record 79.75 in April 1995. The Bank of Japan expanded a bank-loan program today as pressure mounted on it to fight deflation and weaken the yen..
.
ΩΩAnd that explains the trade deficit with Japan. The value of the yen really has dropped against the dollar as I have said over and over again for YEARS. I am happy someone else notices. Japan hates having it 85 yen to the dollar and will commit mass suicide if it were 75 yen to the dollar. We are a trade target, not an ally. And this takes me to another main theme here: there is no such thing as allies, there temporary convenient common causes. We forget this all the time, anxious to keep the illusion of imperial power.
.
ΩΩObama surrendered to the Jewish lobby totally which is why Netanyahu is dictating terms yet again to the Palestinians and here is more proof that the ‘President’ who is actually the White House slave is allowed to trot around, kissing up to the Real Rulers: President Obama, Mayor Bloomberg take their swings on economy… during round of golf at posh course. As the country writhes under the whip of Deflation, as millions of Americans lose their jobs or end up working at much reduced wages for foreign entities, the US President kisses up to Wall Street. Bloomberg got away with tearing up the public will when he overran the term limits regulations and spent a hideous fortune of his own slightly taxed wealth to keep in power and to wield this power on behalf of his own class and kin. And this takes me back to Germany circa 1914. An explosive situation which was made clearer by a number of white Protestant protestors showing up in DC on the MLK anniversary, talking about losing their civil rights (no representation in the highest courts) and immigration. A very dangerous mix which the US media responded to by going into convulsions of revulsion but dared not examine rationally. The media system hopes to bury all of this and not talk about it except Jews in Israel merrily discuss ethnic cleansing every day and heartily applaud it and one of Netanyahu’s main demands is for the Palestinians to endorse and legalize this ethnic cleansing!
.
ΩΩU.S. Warfare Boosted Q2 GDP Massively: we still imagine we can box our way out of this box. That is, we export weapons while running a ruinous budget deficit which is half social services and half military. Impossible and doomed effort. Here is why: BBC News – US to fund installation of Israeli rocket defence system: WE ARE NOT SELLING ANYTHING! This is included in our trade stats as a ‘sale’ but it is a GIFT. Not a sale at all. And this is added to our bill we must pay one fine day and the Jews think it is glorious adding their expenses to our national bill and I must say, will anyone ever learn any lessons? There is book learning and then there is learning via the whip of real events. And the mythology surrounding the rise of Hitler, if it ignores all the important information (the flood of Jews into the highest levels of society compared to their population numbers) then we get a false reading of history.
.
ΩΩAll great historians preface their works by explaining the need to understand the past so we avoid future problems. Well, the political demands of the present means ignoring the past or retelling it in such a way, one can get away with distortions and thus, end up pleased with a cleaned up tale that reinforces really bad choices in the present. So it is with everything today: the stories we tell really matters a lot. And many stories are filled with fantasies, evasions, hidden messages, wishful thinking and of course, outright lying. How do we tell them all apart?
.
ΩΩWell, if you seek something, be very careful about what you find. And often,we find things we don’t want to find which is why we evade the answers. Or reality is actually dumber or simpler than imagined which is why we are so fond of complicated, convoluted explanations for simple things which leads to conspiracy thinking. Events move relentlessly forwards based on population levels, educational opportunities, expansions or contractions of trade and technological advances or failures. And the history of failures is long and grim, entire sectors, huge sectors of the planet can slide backwards into various Dark Ages very swiftly when empires fail. There are many lost civilizations that should never have been lost. And this is my worry, I happen to be rather fond of civilizations in general.

“The revelations began on August 25 when senior Times’ correspondents Dexter Filkins and Mark Mazzetti reported that a close aide of Karzai who is accused of corruption, Mohammed Zia Salehi, had been on the CIA payroll for “many years”. The information was provided by anonymous sources “in Kabul and Washington,” suggesting it came from high up within the US military or the Obama administration itself.”

Great article, Elaine!
I always love it when you dig up interesting historical facts. Just today, I was thinking about the relationship of population to the ability to make war on one’s neighbors. For example, how many young, able-bodied men did Germany have available in 1938?
When I look at America today, I see a huge couch-potato society with our best and healthiest young men opting more and more for joining the Army (the employer of last resort). This means there will be little to no effective resistance by the general population if our government goes berserk and becomes a total faschist dictatorship.
When it comes to manpower, no one beats the Chinese. I can easily see them playing the role that the U.S. played during WW II. That is, allowing themselves to be drawn into a war between other countries and then dominating the global scene when the smoke finally clears.
The only real difference today is the presence of nuclear weapons — a kind of wildcard that did not exist in the past.
I would rather live in a world dominated by China than one that has been nuked.

‘All Jews Share a Certain Gene’
Over the weekend, Sarrazin went even further. In an interview with Welt am Sonntag, Sarrazin waded into the fraught field of genetics, saying “all Jews share a certain gene, all Basques have certain genes that make them different from other people.”
“The Turks are taking over Germany exactly as the Kosovars took over Kosovo: via a higher birth rate. I wouldn’t mind if it were Jews from Eastern Europe with a 15 percent higher IQ than the German population.”

“Public support for the environmental movement has eroded; many people now view environmentalists as zealots intent on controlling every aspect of their lives. Our addiction to fossil fuels has not slackened; drilling and mining, along with wind and solar development, are taking over more of the West to power air conditioners and iPod chargers. Meanwhile, the emerging disasters include countless pharmaceutical drugs flushed through sewer systems and ending up in river ecosystems and drinking water. Hormone disruptors sneak into our bodies from a myriad of sources such as flame retardants and wood sealants; global deforestation is rampant; and the biggest threat of all, climate change, is caused by our relentless industrial emissions of heat-trapping gases such as carbon dioxide and methane.”

Gerald Celente: ‘when people lose everything they lose it”.
I guess that is why people in power be it religious, cultural or political build Great Buildings, Monuments, Grand Rituals (Queen Elizabeth with great fanfare and pomp inspecting the Palace Guards in the Golden Royal Horse drawn carriage etc) and the elite dressed to “shock and awe” the masses?
Sadly, we of the great unwashed have found the “great pontificator voice of wisdom” is revealed when the curtain is withdrawn to be…..a little old man.

This template has powered 30 years of headlong growth that is catapulting China past Japan to become the world’s largest economy after the United States.
But it is a formula that Beijing readily agrees is unsustainable: China needs to rely more on household spending, especially as its export prospects are darkening now that the West is tightening its belt to purge excess debt.

Thus it’s an infinite rate of return, because I’m taking control of the whole place for no money down, and as I do, I switch the bank deposits, the store purchases, the contracts to my businesses, and all I need to kick start it are the drugs. Not just as a source of cash flow, but as a source of distraction, that enervates the dreams of my enemies. Sun Tsu’s The Art of War says: “Always eat your enemy’s food” – in other words, a pound of food that you steal from your enemy is worth many multiples of food that you need to provide yourself. So by using this kind of leveraged buyout of the entire economy and political structure with their money in a way that makes them weak, you’re eating their food. And then the control of the territory gives you an unending cash flow and further access to different resources. Not to mention, the more control you have the more you can insist that their children work in your banks or go to war in your army. Ultimately the richest resource is human capital. The kids you’re not destroying with drugs, you’re sending to your army to fight your wars or sending to your colleges to train to work for your banks.
.
CAPITALIST SLAVE WORLD… so much better than the communist slave world
Miguel de Unamuno, who was chased out of his university position by the fascists in Franco’s Spain, writes convincingly about the lethal and toxic jealousy, and hatred, borne by the uneducated for those with learning. Hatred of people not like themselves, hatred of homosexuals. Class war was a component of the Spanish Civil War. The killing of Garcia Lorca the poet.
In the Tea Baggers we see a similar, but still proto-fascist element. But when the purges come, they go for the intelligencia first. Sweeping away facts, reason, logic; since those things simply inflame their rage.
Tribal oneness, the mass hypnosis of the mob, the frenetic seizing of the odd victim who isn’t one of them. This was seen during the latest repulsive protest against the the Islamic Cultural Center in NYC, the one that is still going in South Manhattan. Some black American carpentry worker, wearing a white pillbox hat, wandered in among these pinheads, and was lucky to escape, unscathed. And there were the two Egyptian Coptics, Christians, who had to be saved from this crowd, on another day, by police. There was no brotherly love returned when the men tried to explain that they had come to SUPPORT the protesters.
The trouble comes when humans become closed to the part of themselves that thinks dispassionately. People who are in the grips of mania and tribal hysteria, start rejecting new information arbitrarily.
And the scary thing about this country is that there there is no fear now, no matter how insane or illogical, that can’t be ginned up at a moment’s notice. A manufactured fear for any occasion. I remember during the run-up to the Iraq War when the Bushies were barking at Chirac, the French president, there was some emotional peasant (in LA, I think) bawling that he was afraid of France, really afraid of France.
ΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩ
ELAINE: The fascists in Spain also beat poor de Falla to death, killing one of Spain’s most incredible composers whose music is still a concert hall standard (which I happen to love!). So disgusting. But then, Stalin and Mao did the exact same thing to the same sort of people! The hatred of creative or smart people is an enduring feature of humanity. Amazing, we still managed to evolve big brains but note, our brains haven’t grown much since we figured out how to wage full scale warfare.
@Copeland
Yes, excellent insight, IMO. Someone ( DownSouth, I hope they don’t mind ) on another blog made a similar observation, concerning the rise of the KKK and the public rhetoric in the early 1920s
“The target victims have of course changed. Back then the Negro, the Jew and the Roman Catholic were the principle targets. Today it’s the Mexican, the Muslim and the gay person. And of course the so-called “socialist,” which finds incarnation in the person of Barak Obama, is a permanent target.
There are of course some changes, but how close does the movement and the rhetoric of Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin come to replicating this?
The objects of the Order [Ku Klux Klan] as stated in its Constitution were “to unite white male persons, native-born Gentile citizens of the United States of America, who owe no allegiance of any nature to any foreign government, nation, institution, sect, ruler, person, or people; whose morals are good, whose reputations and vocations are exemplary . . . to cultivate and promote patriotism toward our Civil Government; to practice an honorable Klannishness toward each other; to exemplify a practical benevolence; to shield the sanctity of the home and the chastity of womanhood; to maintain forever white supremacy, to teach and faithfully inculcate a high spiritual philosophy through an exalted ritualism, and by a practical devotion to conserve, protect, and maintain the distinctive institutions, rights, privileges, principles, traditions and ideals of a pure Americanism.”
Thus the theory. In practice the “pure Americanism” varied with the locality. At first, in the South, white supremacy was the Klan’s chief objective, but as time went on and the organization grew and spread, opposition to the Jew and above all to the Catholic proved the best talking point for Kleagles in most localities. Nor did the methods of the local Klan organizations usually suggest the possession of a “high spiritual philosophy.” These local organizations were largely autonomous and beyond control from Atlanta… Though Imperial Wizard Evans inveighed against lawlessness, the members of the local Klans were not always content with voting against allowing children to attend parochial schools, or voting against Catholic candidates for office, or burning fiery crosses on the hilltop back of the town to show the niggers that the whites meant business. The secrecy of the Klan was an invitation to more direct action.”
@PLovering
I can’t agree re global warming, however, thanks for the link, and I do agree we are deluged with lies and propaganda and disinformation, and it’s really difficult, hard work to dig through all the crap trying to discover what’s really going on. Re Bernanke Says Fed Has Tools to Prevent a Recession, Avoids Stimulus Pledge: This headline shows how insane our central bankers are….
You are right…Bernanke and his friends in Washington and Wall Street is delusional indeed.
I understand that Obama is intelligent and he may have kept the above foxes in the henhouse because he had insufficient courage or clout to put a new team in post his election?
He had the mandate.
Surely, he could not be so cynical to knowingly allow the US debacle to occur?
I realize that Elaine suggests he was funded by Wall Street and AIPAC.
Perhaps, he was surrounded by a cabal when in office and simply could not do anything about it?
Now we have a muscular US foreign policy confronting China and Russia as well as the bankrupt US economy?
Surely, all this is not sustainable and something has to give way on the US side?
It seems to me that all Russia and China need to do is be patient and the unsustainable US contradiction will solve itself…..by the US imploding?
Any ideas and comments?
Martin Weiss states in this quarter:
US Treasury USD1,446billion + Local Gov. USD114billion = TOTAL Borrowings USD1,560billion
Debt liquidation by private sector: USD1,227billion
Bernanke ACHIEVED ZERO RESULT FOR MAIN STREET AND PUT THE US GOV DEEPER IN DEBT.
Back in 2005, lenders issued $1.4 trillion in new mortgages over and above those that were paid off or went bad — a fantastic amount of fresh new money pouring into the housing and construction markets
But by 2008, they had cut back their new mortgage lending by a whopping 94 percent. The industry virtually died — an unmitigated disaster for the economy.
FROM 2005 to 2008 NEW MORTGAGES DISAPPEARED AND THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY DIED.
His Jackson speech is hot air.

Bernanke Hallucinating
by Martin D. Weiss, Ph.D.
….In sum, nearly all the money Bernanke has printed — plus all the money he has supposedly poured into the economy — is going nowhere, except perhaps down the drain. He’s clearly running on a treadmill … pushing on a string…..
@Aussie
“Perhaps, he was surrounded by a cabal when in office and simply could not do anything about it?”
My take, FWIW, there’s a suggestion he became a CIA asset whilst at Columbia, his wife, member of CFR Chicago, Rahm Emmanuel, Pentagon, etc, and all the rest. He’s a puppet, placed there to present an acceptable image to the US public and the world, it’s public relations, the way any corporation will select a pretty healthy smiling face to sell their poisonous product on tv… Blair was the same in UK…
I’m not a fan of Alex Jones, but he digs up interesting information sometimes.
@nah,
The political shield protecting our society is shot to shit, as is the electromagnetic shield protecting our climate.
One need only look at the dying trees, loss of bees, birds, and butterflies, growth of algae … starving waters of oxygen, loss of plankton, and etc. to appreciate the extent of our problems.
Obama and his “Just Don’t Care Programs” refuses to address real problems. Giving the banks $10 trillions was a bridge to nowhere.
Buckle up. Resistance is victory.

The powerz are doing their best to paralyze
the population.
The use of chemtrails, vaccines, fluorides, and extra UV light has sick population writ Large all over it.
Good luck,

Vaccine Deaths And Injuries Skyrocket As Cover-Up Implodes
Global revolt against deadly vaccines spreads as cases of debilitating illnesses, soft-kill side-effects and even instant deaths become widespread
Cases of debilitating illnesses, soft-kill side-effects and even instant deaths as a result of vaccinations across the world are skyrocketing as the cover-up of deadly inoculations implodes and more people than ever become suspicious about what they are being injected with by health authorities who have proven they cannot be trusted.
The implosion of the vaccine cover-up is sure to discourage more parents from vaccinating their children in the coming months, with the swine flu shot now being combined with the regular seasonal flu jab. A recent Rasmussen poll found that 52 per cent of Americans were concerned about the safety of vaccines as we approach the start of school and college terms, where many children and teenagers will be “required” to take shots before they can attend.
A global revolt against dangerous vaccines is brewing following a series of cases where children have been killed as a direct result of inoculations.
Health professionals and doctors with government ties were also blamed in Finland and Sweden after a H1N1 vaccination program was halted following a 300 per cent increase in cases of the neurological disorder narcolepsy amongst children and young people who had received the shot over the last six months.
Meanwhile, concerned mothers whose daughters have been injured or killed by the Gardasil vaccine have put together a website that documents the truth about how the vaccine has killed and injured thousands of young girls since it was introduced in 2006. Thousands of teenagers have suffered adverse reactions and at least 71 have died from the vaccine since the HPV program was launched four years ago.
The global vaccine cover-up took a massive blow after it was confirmed that the 2009 swine flu outbreak was, as we predicted from the start, a contrived scam centered around making vast profits for pharmaceutical companies while endangering the health of the public.
As Natural News’ Mike Adams reported, several members of the Emergency Committee expert panel that advised the World Health Organization (WHO) during the swine flu scare were receiving financial support from pharmaceutical manufacturers either during or prior to the epidemic.
Both H1N1 and seasonal flu shots have been linked with a number of different side-effects across the globe, including Guillain-Barré Syndrome as well as dystonia, a paralyzing neurological disorder.
With people globally becoming increasingly aware of the role of vaccines in the agenda to reduce world population, the cover-up of debilitating diseases, soft kill side-effects, and instant fatalities as a result of vaccinations will continue to implode, until authorities are forced by law to implement vastly more stringent screening procedures and remove the toxic additives from vaccines that are causing these deaths and diseases.

ELAINE: Infowars is an insane site. They specialize in stupid hysteria based on nearly nothing. I don’t mind people wanting to be sick or dying so long as they do this with eyes wide open. If we could have a second world for people who hate vaccinations, I say, go there! I am immensely curious about how people endured the Black Plague. Would love to film the results of Anti Vaccination Planet.
Hey.
Just saw it in the news.
No more military operations in Iraq.
War is over.

true toxic waste makes life cozy… its a shame that so many intelligent folks can recognize a problem so caveman in origin that it can be forever be ignored by the masses…

hell, the truth of our humanity is so buried under sexist racist greedy nonsense… that its well, kinda freaky 6billion of the worlds people aren’t US citizens, watching our TV programs about how we steal from each other, freaked out by US while they marry 12yr old hungry girls almost sold into slavery or some other crude mortal judgment of morals that doesnt play well in the cinema.

Re Jackson A**hole Party Ends With A Whimper
…Indeed, I believe that there is virtually no one as irritated as I am about trade deficits…
Yes, wb – re Obama as CIA asset.
I suppose he could be….my hangup is an irrational reluctance accepting the notion (which could be true) because it assumes a visionary CIA.
But it is tru the CIA is manipulative, anti –democratic and has subverted governments plus the FBI under J. Edgar Hoover did blackmail US elites to further its agenda.
Therefore, you could be right….I wonder what Elaine thinks of this?
China is at a cross road to decide extent and pace of economic reform.
President Hu Jintao and Prime Minister Wen Jiabao are said to be feuding over economic liberalization and reform…the Zhou Xiaochuan (China Central Banker) rumour is part of the power struggle.
It seems China’s political elite routinely resolve major strategic differences thru such processes from Mao to the crazy wife thru to the ascencion of Deng Xioa Peng with his “Reform and Opening Up” policies.
Elaine’s anguish about US trade deficits is reflected in Russia and China because they will not allow it to happen:

Kremlin Economist Unfolds Russia’s Roadmap
Deputy Premier Igor Shuvalov opens up on Russia’s economic challenges, post-crisis opportunities and trade with China
….We all remember the old Soviet times when life scarcely changed. The major task of changing as soon as possible does not only apply to the economy, but it should be the No. 1 priority for the economy. We need to learn how to be very flexible and become better at seeking innovation…..
….We can develop a new strategy of economic development. The most important signal is that we cannot afford to freely spend capital generated by oil and gas exports. If we are saving instead of spending, sooner or later, Russia will find new ways to develop…..
….We would like to think about “wise trade” between our two countries. We are looking forward to cooperation with China, but we don’t want to just sell Russian metals and forest resources…..

High Altitude, Low Visibility
Andy Xie, board member of Rosetta Stone Advisors
China’s recently-acquired status was borne out of its WTO accession, rapid infrastructure development and low-cost labor – but the astonishing ascent has concealed many flaws.
…The “Reform and Opening Up” policies have been the center of China’s economic policy in the past three decades. …China’s exports have become the largest in the world from virtually nothing three decades ago and almost nothing two decades ago. In the last decade alone the exports have risen 5.2 times. Being the workshop of the world has been the most important part of China’s economy so far. Without China’s export success China’s economy wouldn’t be near where it is today….
…Infrastructure development has been China’s second important competitive advantage. China has continually delivered strong infrastructure development due to the government’s ability to mobilize resources….
…If China hadn’t embraced internet, its economy today could be only half as big as it is….
…Third, China’s large and productive labor force has contributed more than any other factor to China’s growth….
…Is the dollar weakness during China’s boom entirely a coincidence, since the triggers for the dollar’s weakness could be indentified? Is the weak dollar a cause or the cause for the boom of China’s or other emerging countries’? Or is the booming in China and other emerging economies causing the dollar’s weakness?
….I actually think the third scenario more likely. The U.S.’s economic problems originate in its declining competitiveness or the responses to it. The current banking crisis is due to Greenspan’s loose monetary policy to support the U.S.’s living standard during its declining competitiveness. It led to a series of financial bubbles that sucked in capital to fund its persistent balance of payment deficit-a sure sign of declining competitiveness. The current financial crisis reflects the logical ending to this bubble policy. And, the crisis is causing so much pain, because the effect of cumulative competitiveness loss is showing through at the same time plus the usual consequences of a bubble bursting….
Possibly half of China’s bank lending is to the property related businesses or local governments that pledge land as collateral. While the current boom has catapulted China ahead of Japan as the world’s second-largest economy, we must remember the excesses in this cycle and the need for an adjustment as soon as possible. Nothing reveals the vulnerabilities more than the banking system’s exposure to unsustainable economic activities that depend on land appreciation. China should proactively bring about the needed economic adjustment.

hamas does not care who dies… what a cluster fuck
Once upon a time, long long ago, I was supposed to become a CIA asset. Then, I declared war on the CIA and it has been downhill ever since. Seriously, inside of the University systems sits the CIA. They have many agents there and lots and lots of secret connections, funding of research, etc. Frankly, this was true of Russia’s universities as well as present day China.
Funny, how naive the CIA is when it comes to rival systems. Even with me being on the outside, they would try to use me for foreign contacts! HAHAHA.
Anyway, the CIA’s funding for all of this is still, to this day, SECRET. And icons on the libertarian right think that Goldwater wasn’t party to this secret CIA stuff?
HAHAHA again. I know personally the truth. We used to live next door to his family in Scottsdale, Arizona, when I was a child.
Hello Elaine,
You wrote:
“No one can understand the Holocaust without understanding this piece of the puzzle. The Germans opened up the ghettos (in stark contrast to the Jews mistreatment of the Palestinians today) and released a flood of urban youth who were forbidden previously to own farms or live off the land.”
Perhaps the least known, most influential member of this educated Jewish-German generation was Edith Stein:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edith_Stein
Her writings of philosophy, theology and particularly the great German Philospher Edmund Husserl’s concept of phenomenology, literally lit a path through the fascist decades of the 20th. century.
Stein’s analysis of political philosophies, “Investigation Concerning the State” sprung from her discouragement with membership in the German Democratic Party and her direct involvement with the establishment of the Weimar Republic in 1919.
Astonishingly, though her treatise was finished by 1922, it was published concurrently with the release of Volume I of Adolph Hitler’s “Mein Kampf” in 1925 and marked her forever as an enemy of the nazi.
Her constant warnings of the consequences of the rise of the nazi, particularly to her Jewish people and her appeals for intervention directly to Pope Pius XI, sealed her fate and she along with her sister Rosa were arrested and sent to Auschwitz in 1942.
Yet, her death in the gas chambers was her greatest victory, because her story became know to many Poles living in the area of Auschwitz/Oświęcim, most prophetically a young college student from the nearby town of Wadowice named Karol Woytiwa.
