After she went into hiding following Mr. Madoff’s fall, other bankers suggested it was because she feared retribution by her Russian clients.
- The complaint says that since Mr. Madoff’s arrest, Ms. Kohn has not traveled to New York. Several members of her family, including her husband, her mother, a son, a daughter and two sons-in-law were also named as defendants in the lawsuit. According to the complaint, several of them invoked their Fifth Amendment rights more than 100 times during depositions with the trustee’s lawyers last year.

I don’t understand why the cables were not released all at once so that as many people as possible could download them and save them. What is the purpose of dribbling them out a little bit at a time? Did they not foresee an attempt to shut them down?
Why not disgorge them all at once before it is too late? Why keep them secret?
On another matter regarding the ruling elites, I have thought about how things are different this time in America from the Great Depression. Back then, the elites allowed themselves to be taxed somewhat in order to save the country, but now they openly claim the right to pay no taxes.
I wondered why? Then it struck me. The source of their wealth back then was America itself, or at least based in America. Their factories, their farms, their stores, their shipyards, their mines, their oil wells were all located here in America. They were not “globalists” and could not transfer their wealth abroad, so they could not allow America to implode into a communist revolution or they would lose everything.
Now, they can. Their wealth is located abroad, and for some reason, they believe that someone (the Chinese, the Russians, Japan, Germany?) will safeguard their factories and other sources of income after America implodes, but I think they may have miscalculated badly here.
No one is obligated to protect them, and I think they will be very much surprised when they run into the wall of national sovereignty — a concept they believe is dead.
China has no use for Bill Gates or Warren Buffet, and neither does any other country with its own army. It is the globalists who will end up dead, as they will have no where to go in a world torn asunder by national rivalries. At least, that is my opinion.

I can see one problem about releasin all cables at once and that is too much information at once. Also it would be easier for mainstream media to pick whatever they want to publish and push and leave really important stuff out from it – and after that ignore the rest until it dies out. No news stay in circulation for long anymore.

there are LOTS of antiwar conservatives, especially the fiscal conservatives (as in patrick buchanan, ron paul, etc)and we clearly see that there are lots of warmongering liberals so it is patently unfair to generalize.
true fiscal conservatives understand the danger that war spending poses to the american economy-since it is a transfer of wealth OUT OF THE UNITED STATES. the equipment goes overseas, the jobs go overseas,the building goes overseas, infrastructure repair goes overseas, etc.
this is an incredible danger to an already overextended economy, with job losses expected to rise after christmas and prices all going to rise due to commodity price increases.
