The US Assassinates Many People

I mostly grew up in Tucson and began being involved in politics there.  Tucson is the much more liberal part of Arizona.  And is usually rather quiet in the past compared to say, New York City.  But today, thanks to the hyper-heated rhetoric of the GOP as they try to take over the South has probably led to the assassination of one of Tucson’s Democratic representatives, Gabrielle Giffords.

ΩΩThere are precious few details about this.  So far we know, NPR: Rep. Giffords, 6 others killed in Tucson.  The assassin was a young guy who was tackled by a very brave citizen.  So far, there are few details about the assassin but there will be plenty in the near future.  Representative Giffords has long been a target of opportunity for the far right wing nuts in the GOP leadership.

• While there is no hard evidence at this point to suggest that the shooting was politically motivated, Matt Yglesias points out that an anti-Giffords event was held in June with the billing: “Get on Target for Victory in November. Help remove Gabrielle Giffords from office. Shoot a fully automatic M16 with Jesse Kelly.”…Rep. Giffords was also on Sarah Palin’s “target list.”

My sincere condolences are offered to the family of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and the other victims of today’s tragic shooting in Arizona.

ΩΩHer official webpage is dead.  She is a classic coward.  Ran away from work.  Ran away from responsibilities.  Ran away from her own crimes.  This woman is a classic: eggs men into killing and then runs and hides.  The tough mama grizzly runs away from her own grizzly blood sports.  I hope she is prosecuted for encouraging an assassination.  Even if not directly involved, her irresponsible behavior was broadcast all over the media and loved to pose with guns and talk tough.  Let her spend a few years in the pen. Get some tattoos.

ΩΩShe cannot merely apologize.  She has to pay penance.  Praying to her own goofy god isn’t sufficient.  She has to go before the entire Tea Party and denounce her own rhetoric and tell them, this stupid game is over, it was all for show, she was a fake.  Then she can disappear for a few decades, maybe a century.

ΩΩShe is a mixed bag.  One glaring thing here is, her support of guns.  Live by the gun, die by the gun.   She was in Arizona for only three generations.  My great grandma was in Tucson back when it was an armed outpost right after Southwest rail company got the US government to buy part of Mexico instead of invading and taking it by force.  Just as the US bought up Alaska, for example.

ΩΩBack then, it was the Wild Wild West and Old Tucson is where many a western movie was made.  But the reality was, my ancestress would stalk the boardwalks of Tucson, demanding the sheriff and the cavalry disarm the men.  And the shoot outs in places like Tombstone really agitated her.  Disarming people coming into town was important.  Closing the saloons was, too.  She was a member of the Temperance Ladies Union.

ΩΩShe wanted the government to control many, many things.  Why?  Because chaos is horrible if you live in real chaos!  She wanted law and order!  Because we have more or less law and order these days, people think that we should have the Wild Wild West which is silly.  That is, it was an unhappy place, for the most part and women who wanted to have babies and children going to school worked very tirelessly to transform the Wild Wild West into a civilized place.

ΩΩThe childish ideologies we see today are due to living in such a safe, bubble-wrapped world, we assume we can be mama grizzlies while being soft smores suburban airheads.  Palin wouldn’t last a month in the real Wild Wild West.  The husband of Rep. Giffords got to lord it over the true natives of the really Wild Wild Western Asia people because he and his buddies were heavily armed and the natives were not so armed.

ΩΩExcept the natives there endorse ‘Live by the sword and die for Allah’ very much. They don’t care to be muffled in cotton and protected by any civilization!  And what was her husband doing?  Trying to impose law and order on them even as many Americans denounce doing this at home. Both left and right want less government controls even as each group we elect impose more and more government controls on us in the name of making things safer!

ΩΩThe paradox of this is obvious: the anti-gun control people want to impose on us many restrictions and scary security systems such as the guards at doors, searches, restrictions on where we can go, etc. while at the same time, letting us carry guns!  This is pure insanity!  Shooting people dead is so common in the US, it is probably more common than in Afghanistan.

ΩΩI am very angry that Giffords was assassinated.  I am also very angry that she played the usual games to insure that it would be ridiculously easy for assassins to kill her.  What will we do now?  Have all our politicians be like our Presidents?  Who never appear in public in reality but have bullet-proof shields and guards surrounding them and they use bomb proof cars and never use transportation but are kept in this perfect bubble?  While we get to be at the mercy of gunmen seeking to massacre us?

ΩΩThe solutions offered are increasingly ‘more police state stuff in public’ and ‘more isolation of our politicians’ and ‘you are on your own if some thugs want to kill you’ sort of society.  This leads to the sort of social disintegration we see in Pakistan today.  As we send in more and more Predator Assassin drones to butcher political leaders who are against the government there, the more we have assassinations here.

ΩΩThe Democratic ‘liberal’ (sic) President has already stated, he can pick and choose which Americans to assassinate if he thinks they deserve this!!!!  And did the entire media and public scream in unison, ‘Stop the assassinations!’  No.

.

ΩΩIsrael cynically assassinates people all the time and are applauded for this by the US media and public.  This week, Israelis shoot dead sleeping elderly Palestinian.  They wanted to assassinate a leader in this village and goofed. Whoops.  No one will go to prison for this crime, of course.  And you can bet, Griffords supported all of this since she was a Zionist.

ΩΩThe entire US has decided to live and die by the assassin.  So let’s just call this another expression of our basic political philosophy these days rather than an aberration.
