The disturbing videos put out by this assassin show clearly a deranged mind at work. This video of him burning the American flag shows strong signs of mental illness. The way he creeps up on the flag while hobbled by a big black plastic garbage bag reminds me of clients we had in the Free Clinic in the late 1960′s. Often, people who dressed like this and walked funny like he is doing here were strung out on drugs..
* Good news, the surgeons at the U of A hospital have saved the life of the Congresswoman after hours of surgery. We won’t know how much brain damage until later. I hope there is none.*
And it turns out, this guy was arrested for illegal drugs in the past. No shock to me. Here is the video which he set to hard metal rock: America: Your Last Memory In A Terrorist Country!
.
ΩΩThis video was posted on October 2, 2010, just before the last election. This election featured a lot of red-hot rhetoric which glorified guns, ‘Mama grizzlies’ attacking wimpy liberals and lots of talk about getting rid of social systems, ridding us of our own government and other exciting things. The worst part of all of this was, there was no revolutionary movements at all.
.
ΩΩThe Tea Party was all about the GOP status quo as the right wing Christians understood. But lurking under all of this is the fringe elements which has a lot of justified and not-justified paranoia. Fears of vaccinations or imagining that jet vapor trails were being done deliberately to torment people is all very much a reminder of how unstable people can become when they are paranoid. Often, sincere knowledge and understanding of science and technology can coincide with paranoid fears. But the fears overwhelm all systems.
.
ΩΩAnd example is fluoride in water: to save teeth, it was advised that we should fluoridate public water systems. So some but not all cities tried this. It did work. But it had side effects (not all that unusual!). So this week, finally, it was announced that too much fluoride is bad for you so it is being reduced but not eliminated. Of course, with modern systems, we don’t need to do this at all since all toothpaste now has fluoride and dentists use it more so there is no need for extra fluoride.
.
ΩΩBut the anti-fluoride people didn’t oppose it because it might not be perfect. They built up all sorts of funky theories about it which were pure paranoia the top one being, ‘This is a commie plot to poison us.’ Just as vaccinations are not 100% perfect and there may be some very rare side effects, this doesn’t mean that all vaccinations are horrible nor that they are being used to kill us. Thinking carefully about things and not in absolutes is very important. That is, nothing is perfect nor are all imperfections a plot to destroy us.
.
ΩΩEven so, there are plots to destroy many people! There is reason for paranoia. Assange, for example, is a recent victim of pretend paranoia plot weaving by people who want to demonize him even as the powerful elites running the nation call for his assassination. The present story of an assassination is all about the GOP/Tea Bag gang headed by Palin calling for assassinations.

.
ΩΩSarah Palin pulled her infamous map which clearly is a target range art job. Gabrielle Giffords is #4 on an obvious hit list here. Couple this with many, many pictures, videos and talks by Palin where she struts her hardware and enjoys talking about and displaying herself killing animals and we get a psychotic situation. She may be cynically pretending to be a psychopath. Or it is her real self. Nonetheless, she apes this sort of gangsta nonsense and being a top public figure, is responsible for people copying her.
.
ΩΩInformation about the murderer who seems to be taken up with the ‘go shoot them’ GOP rhetoric is now appearing online and none of this surprises me: Man linked to Giffords shooting called ‘very disturbed’
- A former classmate of Loughner at Pima Community College said he was “obviously very disturbed.” “He disrupted class frequently with nonsensical outbursts,” said Lynda Sorenson, who took a math class with Loughner last summer at Pima Community College’s Northwest campus… He was asked to leave the pre-algebra class several times and eventually was barred from class, said Sorenson, a Tucson resident.
.
Ω
.
ΩΩHere is the photo of him at a recent book fair, running the giant crossword puzzle game: Collection : Image : Photo Gallery: Tucson Festival of Books on Sunday
.
ΩΩDisturbed people don’t go around all the time yelling at parking meters (although some of our clients at the Free Clinic would sometimes do this). I had one client who would be more or less normal until he would suddenly see giant chipmunks chittering at him. Then he would wig out. Sometimes, the use of various hallucinogenic drugs would have a ‘carry over’ time of months. That is, the original hallucinations would suddenly restart without much warning. STP, for example, caused this a lot.
.
ΩΩHere is his YouTube – Classitup10′s Channel which has four of his videos, all of which were made since October of this year:
[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/user/Classitup10#p/a/u/2/PnNx0WThoF0
.
ΩΩThe music sounds like angry bees buzzing and is very deranged in quality. Often, victims of schizophrenic-type events would hear funny buzzing in the ears and this causes great distress. We evolved over many millions of years to feel intense fear if we hear this ‘angry buzzing’ sound. It obviously means ‘danger’. Just as we are uneasy when we hear roaring sounds, for the same reasons. Here is some of his strange ramblings:
.
ΩΩI often talk about mind control and paranoia. Many people who are very paranoid of having their minds controlled end up in the happy arms of psychopaths who manipulate these fears and increase the mind controls. That is, trying to escape one form of control, the victim slips helplessly into the arms of another controller. I believe that all religious leaders as well as an unhealthy number of political leaders and revolutionaries are all ‘mind controllers’.
.
ΩΩOften, psychologically unstable people try to reason with their own mental distress by rationalizing everything using language. But this proves a slippery, difficult thing if the brain is malfunctioning. Since we all fear death as well as buzzing bee sounds, we get stressed out and try to fix this in various ways and one way is to have a belief system.
.
ΩΩPeople explore many outlets to find this. Often, it is whatever one’s parents and neighbors believe. Even if these beliefs are obviously insane (as most religions basically are at their cores!) since everyone holds the same beliefs, it feels right rather than insanity. An insane person might notice this but instead of becoming a rational sceptic, they overshoot this and become ‘I am a god and can do as I please’ sort of thinking.
.
ΩΩWorld leaders do this! Dictators, in particular, do this. I consider them to be insane. But then, religious leaders seem to be content to drive their followers off of cliffs and the ‘End of Times’ people are well represented in many, many areas of thinking including…science. The ‘Global warming is going to kill everything on earth’ is a prime example of this sort of deadly thinking.
.
ΩΩJust as the top people like Prince Charles, a man living in many mansions and sailing many yachts, can go around telling us the world is coming to an end because we consume too much, this sort of disconnected insanity is infecting people who are not cynical abusers like this stupid and quite evil Prince but are truly confused and scared.
.
ΩΩThe US is full of politicians boasting about how we can kill foreigners and thus, control whole populations using Predator assassin drones and these same politicians suggest we should use guns here to gain power and control liberals and then pretend to be shocked when unstable people apply this logic to real humans, like the nut case that killed a Federal judge and a 9 year old girl along with nearly killing a Congresswoman.
.
ΩΩHere is a screen shot of Jared’s photos. He is a gun nut, of course.
.
ΩΩThe triumphalist GOP has to restrain their own rhetoric. They celebrate the gun culture while degrading those who oppose it but then, the hatred being spread on the left against say, people who suggest we stop millions of illegal aliens and violent criminals from pouring across the borders…there is tons of hate rhetoric on all sides. Contempt of each other is high right now and growing, not shrinking. As the US economic pie shrinks, as ecologists panic, as the dollar dies, as US power bleeds into Afghanistan’s rocky soil, we will see a resurgence of violence here. And lots of insanity. For unease easily turns to insanity. Paranoia which is justified can turn into homicidal thinking and if enough people do this we get vast world wars and lots of murders of civilians.
.
ΩΩIn other words, insanity can be quite contagious.

He’s a loon. There’s no point trying to pin this on politics at this point. His ramblings on currency are incoherent tosh. An acquaintance claims he was an ‘extreme’ liberal
At this stage it’s not known if he was motivated by liberalism, tea party, the mad Hatter or Gandhi. Your suggestion of him as a fringe Tea party person is not based on anything solid – you don’t have the facts yet
Agree with the Onion. Semi agree that he could be tea related, but still too early to call.
I’d say more economy (sickness) induced.
Japan became like this more and more over the 20 years of economic funk. In my mom’s hometown there, a man went and stabbed a whole lot of elementary school kids to death a few years back.
Expect the same here.
More extremism as the pie shrinks.
America is no longer land of “fat and happy” – though we still use more than the rest of the world, ex homeless/working poor.
The relative deprivation of today vs memories of nostalgic childhoods in the 70s 80s 90s will make people mad.
Question to ELAINE: do you think this will lead to us getting a Pol Pot/Cambodia situation, or Rwanda-like situation?
There, the media of Hutu Power urged violence against minority Tutsis.
I’ve read this Rwanda book which is very good and recommend it to all of you:
Title: We wish to inform you that tomorrow we will be killed with our families.
Author: Philip Gourevitch.
The tea party rhetoric is what is key here. Insane, confused people hear this talk about ‘click and load’ and ‘target them’ and this insidiously enters the mind. It is NOT politics, it is Zeitgeist culture. The US assassinates people left and right so everyone thinks this is OK. This worries and upsets me greatly.
The Congresswoman is still alive, but whether she will survive on a long-term basis is unclear – at tonight’s news conference Dr. Carmona (former U.S. Surgeon General, by the way) was grim about her prospects – recognizing, perhaps, that even if she does survive, it might be more of a curse than a blessing.
I came across a comment on another site – if the guy wanted to kill the Congresswoman – then why did he keep shooting and consequently kill and wound all those others? If he was motivated purely by political malice, killing bystanders would be illogical.
The guy’s videos make it clear that he has thought disorder, and almost certainly qualifies for a paranoid schizophrenic diagnosis.
@ EMSnews
Re: ….It is NOT politics, it is Zeitgeist culture…
Your above statement describes our sick mindset today.
The rot in Washington in the face of economic decline and massive hurt within the community is the zeitgeist.
We all end up milling in the dark and some end up lashing out to allay their fears for no sane reason.
It is all wrong, immoral and self defeating.
The phase change will continue regardless until Washington regains its sanity and wisdom to reverse the decline.
Assassinations will not solve anything and merely distracts and increase our collective fears and paranoia.
You are right the logic of state sanctioned assassinations in Pakistan and elsewhere now infects the US in physical and psychic forms.
What a wasteful tragedy all round.
We are society.
A democrat-inspired target map

Plain has no monopoly on this. As an outsider, the TV campaigns of both parties during elections seems extremely hate-filled – they encourage voters to nurture a hatred of their opponents. It’s not healthy
Elaine – stay away from religion. You don’t understand it and you make silly generalizations about it which you do not make in other fields you discuss, e.g. economics.
You’re so right Elaine. The guy is an admitted pot smoker. It’s well known that the deadly mara-gee-wanna will turn a normal boy into a homicidal maniac. There was a report from New Orleans about some boys who had taken up the habit of smoking “muggles” or marijuana cigarettes. These boys axe-murdered their parents in their sleep! And did you know that the word “assassin” is derived from the word “hashish”?
We must be ever vigilant against this devil weed with roots in hell!
The kid probably used hallucinating drugs, too. I used to take care of pot smokers who often used other drugs. And drank a lot of booze which the friends of this kid said, he did a lot.
As for religions: they are a form of insanity. We need these beliefs in order to deal with the knowledge of death. Animals don’t think about death like we do.
As a kid in the ’60s in the SF Bay Area, I used to lie on my back and watch “jet vapor trails”. They were little tails which narrowed at the end and disappeared. I – NEVER – saw one that crossed the sky and expanded hour after hour. I have no idea or opinion about why this is, but something has changed so they now do this. I also have not seen any explanation other than quite disturbing ones which you obviously reject. So how do you explain it?
ΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩ
ELAINE: They fly much higher and there are many, many more.

@ Onion:
Your efforts so early to spin this as an isolated case of a single deranged gunman betray your own politics. This event is part of a greater tragedy.
There is simply nothing to compare on the Democratic side with two generations of strategic hatred employed by the GOP, beginning with the infamous Southern Strategy adopted by Nixon. Poor and middle class whites have been cynically manipulated to achieve the raping of America’s promise. Everything is in the process of being destroyed, or soon will be – any democratic, economic and military excellence has been squandered faster than a trust fund coming into the possession of a profligate heir.
This trajectory may be interrupted by unforseen events, but if not, we’ll have to look to the sudden decline of the Athenian Empire more than two thousand years ago for a comparable precedent.
Democratic errors during the past two years have been largely rooted in the idea that it’s not too late to rescue and rehabilitate the ways of the past – but it is too late because the new paradigm has already arrived, although its ultimate form is not apparent to us yet.
The finger pointing has begun re this latest violence. Pick you boogey man …religion, guns, tea party, drugs, acrimonious language, whatever. They are all to blame, and yet it is just the beginning of the list.. US has prepared itself quite a lethal cocktail.
Stupid palin web site “crosshairs” language being cited as motivation. Really, assumption that people actually listen to her bunk? But if only one nut acts on it, this is a symptom of our sickness not the cause.
Senseless violence is everywhere here.. tv,movies, video games, glorification of muliple foreign wars, of course not. And now huge swaths of disaffected, ignorant and unemployed unproductive people becoming more and more unhinged.
There is no doubt that this country is sick, sick sick. We are a violent dumbed down culture that is rotting to its core. Inevitable that we begin turning on each other like this.
Countdown to:
1)our congress insisting that they need (more) protection from their own constituencies…because of the chance of a nutcase attacking them.
2) loss of (more) civil liberties for all Americans.
3) ascendency of MORE consensus-building, “can’t we all just get along” NEW and improved rhetorical blather from Obama. MORE status-quo talk ahead.
4) wealth and productivity of US continuing to banks, trans corps and global elites via backdoor.
5) And of course, more violent and culturally self-destructive acts such as this AZ attack.
very, very sad!
Totally ridiculous to call this dope smoking, druged out , flag burning , mein kampf-communist manifesto loving , video game playing litte f*ckhead to a teabagger.
In case you haven’t noticed , tea bag people have jobs and spend their time WORKING , unlike that piece of sh*t murderer.
ΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩ
ELAINE: The assassin is a nut. Palin is a nut. Fox Tv is nutty. They are all in need of being put in an asylum.
I have perceived the world as a very unstable place for some time. I base my perception on the conclusion that society at this time is held together by only two things: power and money.
We see what is happening to money, especially those of us who are vulnerable to not having any. If for every poor man in America there are ten who worry about becoming poor, then this speaks for about 600 million of us. Of course, that is double the number there are Americans. I am speaking about the anxiety quotient.
We surely have seen the failure of not only American military power, but order maintained through anyones barrel of the gun. You can try it, but if you do, you will only increase instability and havoc. What is happening is not an explosion, but an implosion–the house of cards is falling into itself. You can inflate or explode all you want, it is still falling in on itself.
Those who blame this on drug users are way off. When the boat is overcrowded with people in anxious circumstances, it will tip not because of drugs aboard, but because the all too sober ones know that the situation is such that it has its own language–uncontrollable anxiety.
“Contempt of each other is high right now and growing, not shrinking.” And why is that? Which side is fomenting the majority of hate? The right wing. Limbaugh. Hannity. Beck. Palin. Which side uses the media to agitate and infuse people’s minds with venom and hatred? The Right Wing. I’m not saying Jared Loughlin wasn’t mentally ill; he clearly is, but the folks who fueled his hatred, gave it expression are responsible as well. Palin’s “crosshairs” ads are a prime example. I also note the Tea Baggers who would show up at their rally’s toting rifles and handguns. Not exactly hard to draw the accurate inference from that,is there? Especially the rally where the armed ‘baggers’ showed up where the President was going to appear. The ruling elites have previously spoken of martial law, I think they would like an excuse to impose it. It’s kind of like giving a pyromaniac a torch and a bunch of gasoline and acting surprised when the rate of arson goes up. Also: no matter how deranged Loughlin is, he consciously picked his primary victim, a Democrat who supported health care reform. As another has said, this one is on the tea baggers. Loughlin IS responsible for his actions, but the environment of hate was the fuel that pushed him over the edge.
once again, extreme liberals really prove that they have no concept of PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY.
it isn’t always someone else’s fault!!
I’m pretty paranoid myself, and I will confess to have indulged in some ‘angry buzzing’ using a particularly effective six string electronic noisemaker. Oh well we all have our vices. Luckily, I can play the good stuff too. At least I am smart enough to understand that murder always creates more problems than it solves.
We haven’t had any poetry around this joint for a while and I think this blog entry opened the door:
I can hardly talk about politics with people because of all the insanity. I basically lecture about human rights and the importance of avoiding rigid thinking and maintaining a flexible system with a heavy emphasis on checks and balances rather than extremes. Yada yada, end the wars blah blah.
Most people seem to tire of listening to me yap, but I can hope that at least I’ll be able to tell [insert favorite death god here] I gave it shot.
More than one elected person yapped about assassinating Assange. We assassinate all sorts of Muslims with impunity. We kill whole families in their homes in the hopes of killing pesky Muslim peasant leaders.
We also see the ‘liberal’ Obama assuming he has the right to assassinate pesky American preachers. This is insanity. It is also dishonorable. This is not law and order. This is anarchy at the very top of the pyramid. Of course, everyone joins in the assassination fun.
I knew Squeaky Fromme. Before she became a wanna be assassin (she attacked President Ford!) she asked me (Berkeley) to teach her how to use guns. I refused. I remember her red hair most vividly.
Left or right, not to mention the CIA center, we see assassins and murderous intentions. This can lead to WWI, for example and kill many millions of people. It is a most serious business.
You knew Squeaky Fromme, eh?
I am sorry for your troubles in that regard. I guess she failed to find anyone to show her how that gun worked.
I certainly do not want to be anywhere around the Squeaky Frommes of the world.
I have had a pretty miserable life, and I have actually been comparatively lucky, so far. Unfortunately, the chances of things turning in my favor seem pretty slim at this point. I could write some poetry I guess, but then, who really cares anyway? Screw it. It’s not entirely my fault. I did the best I could with what I had to work with.
Oh well, off to get on with some angry buzzing…
In the restaurant sometimes, I watch CNN, a few minutes of Wolf Blitzer in the “Situation Room”; and it feels like entering a madhouse. And at Fox News the lunatics are truly running the asylum.
the media will blame whomever they want to blame and some people will be happy to run with it. my guess is that a lot of tea party people were at that supermarket because those are the types of people who generally attend those events!
could we assume then that he was he targeting tea party types, or is the more logical assumption that he was just a nut job who couldn’t put coherent thoughts together and thus drew irrational conclusions from his own word salad “logic”?
as trader kid pointed out on the denninger forum, why didn’t the media pursue the angle that the guy read Mein Kampf and that the congresswoman was jewish? i bet that krugman and the NYT don’t want to pursue that angle……
as an antiwar conservative, i found it incredibly sad that the congresswoman has been saved (at least so far) by the lessons that were learned about brain injuries from all the dead soldiers in the war.
why didn’t their lives receive the attention that her life is receiving, or any of the others killed in the shooting for that matter….
ΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩ
ELAINE; Very prescient. Actually, the media is doing exactly that. I just wrote a long article explaining how the Zionists are now going after a fringe racist group which embraces the same exact ideology as the Zionists. This way, blame doesn’t fall on both the GOP and DNC.
Portugal on life-support:
ECB gives Portugal temporary lifeline, traders say
It’s going to be interesting to find out just what kind of things Loughner agreed with. We’re finding out now what Jared Loughner hated, but what did he believe in and support? Did he listen to hate radio? Did he read Palin’s (ghostwritten) tomes? Can someone name me a Democrat who has the equivalent of Sarah Palin’s “crosshairs” ads on their website? The country needs to re-instate the Fairness Doctrine so that the right wing hatemongers have a counterbalance. It isn’t a coincidence that Fox viewers are consistently THE most uninformed voters. Just my .02.
And again: the shooter was a Mein Kampf/Communist Manifesto reading, radical leftist whackjob clownshoe. There is no reason to in any way tie this creep to conservatism – not even the Murdoch-perverted Tea Party.
None.
“There is no reason to in any way tie this creep to conservatism – not even the Murdoch-perverted Tea Party.” This is NOT a fact based statement. We DO know Loughner shot at a moderate to liberal Democrat, regardless of what is on his “reading” list. We DO know that Arizona is an epicenter for the right wing (see: Arizona’s immigration law). It’s funny how quickly it came out that Communist Manifesto and Mein Kampf were on Loughner’s reading list. His reading list sounds suspicious to me. More likely: Loughner is a spoiled rotten rich kid punk (like the Columbine shooters) who listened to the venom he heard on TV and radio–and took action. Elaine is right; the real reasons for Jared Loughner is being exploited.
Paul S,
Onion already posted it, above, but just for you: http://www.verumserum.com/media/2010/03/DLC-Targeting-map.gif
But don’t let the facts get in the way of your preconceptions, hey?
Arizona is not the epicenter for the right wing. That is pure ignorance and malice. You are a brainwashed fool.
Arizona not an epicenter? What state was it that passed an immigration law that gained national news because it was so controversial? What state has two US senators as right wing as Kyl and McCain?
Texas and Oklahoma, for example, have stellar right wing Senators.
