Antiwar.com is fundraising this week. Unlike my small blog, they pull in many thousands of dollars a year. They have a good news collection business and I applaud this but that is the beginning, middle and end of their activities. They do virtually nothing to organize any antiwar activities at all, whatsoever. Justin Raimondo and I have been sparring over this issue all this year since he foolishly decided to attack all leftists for not having huge antiwar demonstrations.
.
Raimondo and his crew are libertarians. They support free trade, tax cuts and raw capitalism and hate Social Security, Medicare and any programs run by governments on behalf of the people. This is in stark contrast to leftist antiwar people who are against tax cuts for the rich, the offshoring of US jobs and running huge deficits to pay for our war machine which is focused on making Israeli Jews powerful and international Bilderberg bankers richer.
.
So this season, Antiwar.com is complaining about leftists not paying money to them to run their webpage. When I warned Justin about how he, himself, is destroying his own website by alienating us, he got really mad at mean. Here is is latest posting, begging us for money: The Wrath of Shiva by Justin Raimondo — Antiwar.com
.
What really sets my poor nerves on edge is that this fundraiser – our sole means of support, our very lifeline – seems about to turn into a disaster, and I can’t help thinking that surely by the end of it a few heads will roll, Perhaps my own. No matter: like a diver poised over a frigid lake, I must plunge into my task, and continue begging my readers for money.
.
As you can see, I’m playing this “sick” business for all it’s worth: that’s true desperation for you! And I am getting more than a little desperate, as I watch the “mercury” in the thermometer on the front page inch up, ever so slowly and painfully.
.
Yes, it’s painful to watch, almost unbearable: so much depends on its ascent – much more than my own illusions and exaggerated sense of self-importance. And yet, is it really an illusion that an independent antiwar movement can be built – or that the American people can be educated out of their passivity in the face of a rapacious imperialism? Is it really just wishful thinking that there is at least one rock solid institution that can defy the tides and turns of politics and stand up for a more peaceful world – no matter which party is in power?

This is the problem about imperialism: one has to struggle to understand what it is, what fuels it, who runs it and what their goals really are. Why does the US have a ‘rapacious imperialism’ when it is going bankrupt? Incomes of American citizens are declining. Job opportunities vanish faster and faster as our spending on the military increases and our wars double.
.
So far, since Bush Jr took over, taxes on the rich were cut drastically. The share of national income held by the top 1% has ballooned from under 20% when Reagan began tax cutting to over 40%. The top 10% now own nearly 65% of all wealth in the nation today thanks entirely to tax cuts. Now, we are seeing a huge fight over raising the debt ceiling with rightwingers demanding cuts on social spending right on the heels of giving the rich even more tax cuts.
.
Antiwar.com is all for tax cutting for the rich and worse, letting them run to pirate islands to hide income. The mercenary outfits we pay to patrol foreign lands often are based in tax havens like Dubai, for example. We bleed from every financial pore while slitting our wrists. Antiwar.com is so confused about all of this, Justin can rage about out of control military spending but at the same time, not realize who is asking for this: the rich capitalists who he adores!
.
Ever since Antiwar.com endorsed the slashing of social services to Americans, support for the site dropped like a rock. The inability to recognize who the ‘rapists’ are in this matter can be extended to the IMF rapist in chief who was recently arrested in NYC. Now, the top candidate for that Bilderberg office is
Christine Lagarde who is a French woman who worked for Congressman Cohen (Überzionist Republican leader) in the past and who is being chosen by the Bilderberg gang because they want a European to hand out
IMF Board Approval of a $36.8 Billion Loan to Portugal.
.
This is because the draconian loans to Africans, Asians or others is handed out to European colonies which broke away after WWII so they had to be returned to the bosom of the imperialists. Libya was not in debt to anyone which is why it is being bombed to smithereens by the EU and US imperialists.
.
The IMF, to get economies ‘back on track’ are all about free trade, selling off government assets, privatizing public services and lands and above all STEALING PENSIONS. The biggest pension theft on earth has been the US Social Security system. Congress and Reagan doubled SS taxes claiming falsely, this was to save money for the future and then spent every penny of it running the government in the red while cutting taxes to the rich.
.
Antiwar.com has an obligation to discuss this. Instead, Justin was very irritated with myself and several others disputing him on the subject of ‘what is imperialism?’ were getting the better of the debate so the boy took his ball and ran home to mommy. I almost never censor people here except if they get obscene with each other. I don’t want readers calling each other vile names, it deteriorates too fast into mud fights.

Europe is reeling from financial problems brought on by too much borrowing. The US and Japan both are in the same boat only both are propped up by other means. In Europe, demonstrations used to be against US nuclear bomb sites, antiwar in general, then it became anti-WTO and anti-G20 demonstrations. These demonstrations brought out police muscle, big time. For a short while, people were herded into being scared of global warming and went big into yelling, ‘We are doomed! Tax energy, please!’ and then lo and behold, the price of energy quadrupled and economies collapsed and people suddenly were much, much poorer.
.
Alas for the left, it went big time into the ‘We are doomed! Tax energy!’ gambit which drove desperate workers to the right. Now, the right is cutting taxes on the rich and energy is extremely expensive and all the governments are claiming there is no inflation as food and fuel shoot up in price. This, coupled with loss of jobs as they migrate away, is leading to mass demonstrations in countries being ‘bailed out’ by the rich IMF Bilderberg bankers all of whom should be put in jail, not just one.
.
.
Thousands of protesters in Madrid furious over soaring unemployment staged a silent protest and then erupted in cheers of joy as a 48-hour ban on their demonstration took effect on Saturday.
.
“Now we are all illegal” and “the people united will never be defeated,” were among the chants of the protesters who crammed Madrid’s Puerta del Sol square and spilled onto side streets…”From Tahrir to Madrid to the world, world revolution,” said one of the placards, referring to Tahrir Square in Cairo which was the focal point of the Egyptian revolution earlier this year.
.
When I was a major antiwar organizer many years ago, when students were terrified of being drafted, they would energetically demonstrate against the Vietnam War. We held ‘teach-ins’ to explain imperialism and why the peasants were revolting. This led to radicalization of the students when they were then beaten up by the cops.
.
All of Europe is being radicalized this year. Spain is going bankrupt and has a very high, depression level unemployment. The youth are dangerous! In Japan, there isn’t enough youth to fight off the ruling elites who are stripping that nation of all resources and running it extremely into debt, the highest debt ratios in the entire world, and yet, despite 50% of the jobs for the young being part time only, no one is rioting. Not even after TEPCO set out to totally destroy several hundred square miles of farmlands, towns and cities, all is quiet in Tokyo, quiet as a grave.
.
But Europe is exploding.
Afghanistan War: Troop Morale Plummets, Report Says is interesting news since the US is as passive as Japan. No one is going to do anything until we figure out what to do. And action will be necessary when the IMF which will be run by China in less than a decade, ends up imposing rules on us. Just as we were forced to save the richest bankers on earth who then demanded MORE tax cuts from us, we will be forced to pay for the entire patrolling of this planet on behalf of these bankers. The bills due will be drawn on us and this means, anyone over the working age will be TERMINATED.
.
First step is to ‘privatize’ Medicare and the second is to finish the appropriation of Social Security so all future SS taxes go directly to the bankers instead of to the people. Are we capable of rising up and stopping this?
.
Will fears of gays kissing cause sane people to go insane and vote to put themselves to death in retaliation? The GOP depends on fear of gays to gain power!
Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker to Prevent Same-Sex Couples Hospital Visitation Rights is a typical and vicious example. Justin of Antiwar.com is gay. And yet, won’t talk about how this ties into the plans of the powerful and rich who want gay rights but is so very cynical, they also want money even more so are content to be socially liberal themselves (that is, be gay in some cases!) while at the same time, attacking gays for political gain.
.
Gay rights is just one tool used against the left by the right who exploit unreal, unnatural and silly fears just as religion is another favorite tool of the right. Using this primitive tool, they can cause people to do insane things including creating WWIII, if necessary. Recently, the media has been mocking this small group of End of Times Christians as if this is funny. Our Pentagon is filled to the gills with End of Time Right Wing Christians and worse, pro-WWIII Zionist religious nuts.
.
They are NO JOKE. Nor are any of the religious fanatics of all kinds who are for breaking up all nations into tiny, hate-filled religious regimes. The US attacks the nuts running Iran for being religious bigots while praising Jews who are worse. There is no consistency here. We want China to break up into religious cantons. We want Pakistan to keep religious cantons under control by letting us assassinate religious leaders in northern Pakistan!
.
This is polluting our top soil, our food chain. It is eating up a huge hunk of Japan. It is infesting the Pacific Ocean. It has destroyed Japan’s economy. The entire planet’s financial and trade systems are now being reduced yet again, brutally, due to the world’s #3 economy going under and the world’s #2 (the EU, which is in serious trouble, is also going down but it is the #1 economy, not the US) the #2 is cutting government spending, the GOP has refused to raise the debt ceiling and so the US might go bankrupt.
.
Yes, expect IMF riots here, too. And expect the IMF solution to be the seizure of our collective retirement funds and a reduction of medical care to third world conditions. And all the while, we must fight a billion angry Muslims! Over religious idiotic matters that could cause the Apocalypse. What a vile combination of factors. A religious nut in the US predicted the End of Times but only the Pentagon can actually make this happen.
.
.
The ocean floor off of Japan jumped
79 feet sideways and in some places, over 200 feet. A major displacement that will trigger some pretty powerful volcanic eruptions in the next 5 to 10 years. Already, the Alaskan chain of volcanoes are stirring and thinking about releasing their dragons of destruction. Not to mention, Mt. Fuji which is kind of overdue for a major eruption.
.
As for the US winning WWIII, that is certainly not entirely possible anymore. If we fought it against virtually unarmed rivals back in say, 1990, we might have ‘won’ it but we won the Cold War so we thought it would be OK to launch open wars against all Muslims and this would require no nukes. But now, Iran has started producing plutonium this week, Pakistan has nuclear missiles despite US efforts to keep them disarmed and now
China asks US to respect Pak’s sovereignty, independence.
.
As Hu courts Pakistan,
Wen says Japan import controls to be relaxed — Shanghai Daily | 上海日报 –Wen visits Fukushima and is very pleasant to the Japanese who are flat on the mat and need desperately some Chinese aid! Our keystone country for control of Asia is giving in to China as I predicted. And the Chinese will be most intent on keeping Japan very attached.
.
The new China/Pakistan alliance that is rapidly forming will make WWIII virtually impossible for the US to win today. At best, we are at a ‘standoff’ position but with China having its teeth around our financial throat since they can throttle the dollar as a trade currency in a matter of hours, all they have to do is announce they are dumping all US debts and dollars onto the open financial markets of the world. Bang! End of all European, Japanese and US bankers and banks. End of the IMF. End of the World Bank. End of the US rule of the earth.
.
And this is the End of Times we should worry about! And every action we take to increase wars with Muslims brings this closer and closer, not further away. Our military is undermining our safety and free trade exposed us to this danger in the first place. And this is why I focus on free trade so much. The US trade deficit this spring is bigger than ever before! While our finances collapse! Amazing, isn’t it?

Well, here it is. A veritable mea culpa. Too bad no one will figure out the obvious, at least not among those who reported it.

Treason does not happen if it is legal. I believe this was the Nazi solution to government crime.
Thanks for talking about antiwar.com. I have been giving them $50 every quarter, my last contribution a few weeks ago. When their next drive comes, I’ll have to think about continuing this.
Pure libertarians don’t look at interconnections … effects of interactions of variables … so they greatly oversimplify systems.

Antiwar.com is a great resource that is withering on the vine. That is, it has to have some connection with organizing regular events of some sort and of course, has to do something about the libertarians who think they can get us antiwar people to fund their true love: they want to have more free market, less social security which makes Antiwar.com a TROJAN HORSE rather than a good organization out to help save us.
I am against wild military spending because it is bankrupting us. I don’t want to cut spending so that the rich pay no taxes! Quite the contrary! And this is a very big issue separating us from the libertarians who are backing the GOP push to kill SS and Medicare.
let’s face it, the liberals went all macho on all of us because they control the war spending now……
there is no difference between the parties and it is inane to pretend that there is…..
l
You are an idiot. There’s no reason why lefties can’t put aside their economic schemes and libertarians, too — and unite against the wars. it’s typical of selfish Americans that they put their own narrow economic concerns ahead of an issue that is A MATTER OF LIFE AND DEATH.
I repeat: you’re an idiot. One with no moral sense. Get off your soapbox and start supporting Antiwar.com.
Antiwar.com has to fix itself if it wishes to be taken seriously. We are not united anymore than people fighting governments in the Arab Spring are ‘united’. One gets united on more than one level.
The present plan of some antiwar people on the right such as Ron Paul to cut SS and Medicare is a direct attack on the LIVES of AMERICAN CITIZENS.
So, where do we ‘unite’ if this means some of us get to die?
The total debt for the US Government at the end of fiscal 2010 was about 13.5 trillion dollars and in May, the total debt exceeded the so called debt limit of 14.3 trillion dollars. The politicians, pundits and media appear to have gone raving frantic. The sky is falling, what shall we do??!! The same folks are also going nuts over what to do about social security, medicare, welfare, and some other domestic programs. There is some mild discussion about wars and defense spending and the Federal Reserve quantitative easing, etc, but not much. Except in an occasional speech or hearing, the discussions on trade and balance of payments issues or American industry and jobs creation has been mostly quite. But, when I research the US economic history, I often find a significant disconnect not necessarily reflected in the actual historical data. Hmm (or Duh), I wonder if the American people are being subjected to propaganda and other misinformation. After brief reflection and some detailed research into the US Government economic history since 1970,I found that our politicians, pundits and media leaders are either (a) entirely incompetent or (b) heavily committed to presenting propaganda and misinformation. This calls for a Double Duh!
Let me explain. I have been researching looking at all aspects of the historical databases for the US Government economy, including the total debt plus the specific revenue and expense factors involved. I found that the info on the total debt was straightforward and fairly consistent. However, the info on the various revenue and expense factors are highly confusing, because the info has been reported differently over the years and has been classified into a variety of categories that take much effort to track. For example, there are public debt vs intragovernment debt,on budget vs off budget accounts, and budgeted vs nonbudgeted accounts, etc. The total debt is consistently reported, but the breakdown accounts are dodgy. To make matters worse, the “establishment”, using an unrelated mishmash of data, frequently reports totally misleading information regarding the revenue/expense accounts. Is this an indication of (a) incompetence or (b) propaganda? Incidentally, I understand that the “social security” falls under intragovernment accounts and “recent wars, bailouts and earmarks” fall under nonbudgeted accounts.
The main message here is that, for either (a) or (b), our “establishment” is not presenting our US citizens a reliable picture of the true facts of our national financial or social crisis. They are clearly, proveably, not presenting clear facts. They are off on a tangent addressing issues not necessarily related to the dominant facts. They are politicizing ideological issues by presenting flawed economic facts in support of their ideological agenda. They are emphasizing trivial economic factors for political gain.
This is not a Democrat /Republican issue. Both of our “establishment” political parties are engaged in the same destructive game. The “establishment” and both political parties seem to have an agenda that is not consistent with the well being of the American population, as a whole.
First, the historical total debt does tend to fairly reliably follow a hockey stick growth. That is, the annual increase to the total debt is compounded as a fixed percentage of the total debt for the previous year, similar to an unpaid loan. The average compound rate for the growth in total debt from 1970 to 2010 has been an incredible 9 percent per year (based on no inflation adjustments). So a 370 billion dollar starting debt in 1970 became (as expected) 900 billion in 1980 and (as expected) 5.5 trillion in 2000 and 13.5 trillion in 2010 (as expected). There was some higher debt growth during the Reagan/BushI/BushII years and less during the Clinton years, but on average it has been 9 percent.Obama is currently running higher.
This 9 percent compound rate gives us a basis to make an important estimation! If the US debt is at 13.5 trillion in 2010, we can, with some confidence, estimate that the debt increase from 2010 to 2011 will be close to 9 percent of 13.5 trillion or about 1.2 trillion more. Can we say 14.7 trillion total debt 2011 (in May we are at 14.3). Can we say duh again? But, our talking head establishment people are running around the countryside bickering about cutting 70 billion (Republicans) vs 40 billion (Democrats) per year. Who is zooming who here? The establishment is off by at least a factor of 10, maybe closer to 20! Do you think they don’t know better?
Now, let’s get into the revenue and expense accounts. As I said, these are awfully confusing and difficult to verify – I doubt that I have them resolved. As new info becomes available, I intend to represent the best facts and truth. But, let me comment on some issues based on current best info.
Overall, the major contributors to the current total US debt fall into only five categories -( healthcare ,pensions, defense, education and welfare). Each of these five categories approach 1 trillion dollars each in the order listed. The total of all other debt contributors are a bit more than a trillion. Yet, we see politicians going after cuts in Public Radio, EPA, etc that are only drops in the budget bucket, but are ideologically important to some. Obviously, there are ideological issues with the big five, but let’s address them rationally. I generally am fully unbiased except with regard to war. so my perspective is to keep in mind the split between domestic interests and war interests, realize the war funding (and financial bailout) is in the non budgeted categories and war nonbudgeted war costs are estimated to be in the trillion dollar range.
On the revenue side, there is also much confusion and misleading categories. I am still trying to sort it out. My best estimate for the major revenue items may br surprising. Individual income tax and “other” revenue sources (as percent of GDP) have been fairly steady since 1970. However, payroll tax (social security, etc) has increased from 23 to 40 percent of the national revenue between 1970 and 2010. Over the same period, corporate income tax has declined from 17 to 7 percent of the national revenue.
Given that our government presents somewhat conflicting data as to what is happening with respect to the true revenue and expense accounts, the fact that media reports various components of the accounts to presumably influence public opinion, and engage in news campaigns to persuade the populace, costs of wars and bailouts are hidden from the public, we citizens must be very alert to judging the best course of action for our nation. The debt is very real and some appropriate action is required. But, we all have a responsibility to find the facts and take action based on our best judgement, separated from ideological and propagandist input.
Two useful websites with lots of US Govt data are listed below:
http://www.usgovernmentspending.com
http://www.savingsbonds.gov/govt/reports/pd/mspd/mspd.htm
A US conventional first strike against China seems a less remote possibility as the days go by. Delays only allow China to narrow the military technology gap and build alliances. US military prowess is at an apex thanks to massive Gov debt spending and years as a premier superpower, a status that can’t last forever.
A Chinese nuclear response may be unlikely since the US has deterrence sewn up with it’s SSN and SSBN submarine fleet, China would fare worse than the US in a limited exchange and China has a more rational long view than the US. I doubt Russia’s ICBM infrastructure has aged well, and would a China-Russia nuclear alliance hold up in a China conventional war with the US.
Talk of solely removing Pakistan and Iran nuclear capability for the sake of Israeli security obscures the inevitability of doing the same with China, the only real rival to US hegemony for decades for come.
Will adventists see pagan China as threatening enough to US moral ascendancy as Israel sees the Islamic states. Atheists, Toaists and Buddhists are not so obvious a threat as Islamic suicide bombers and zealots with nuclear capability. But if you’re an adventist Christian, idolatry is idolatry and armageddon is about the end of idolatry.
A conventional first strike is just the rationalization needed to walk down that path.
This isn’t about your piddling government dole, emsnews — it’s about saving lives. But since we’re talking about the lives of foreigners — you know, the ones that are “stealing” “our” jobs, because of dastardly libertarian schemes like free trade — well, then, who cares? Who cares about stopping wars — actually stopping them, instead of just talking about it? You are a selfish American — get off the government dole, and get a job. And then you should contribute half your salary to Antiwar.com. And spend the other half on whatever poison pleases you!
ΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩ
ELAINE: Wars happen all the time. There are dumb wars and then necessary wars. Fighting wars for foreigners is dangerous as we see today with our wars against Muslims spreading like a cancer and these people are quite capable of striking back inside the US.
So why are we fighting? This is the question. Many ‘antiwar’ people are also people who thought we shouldn’t have fought WWII. That is, I would suggest, insane. I am not antiwar or even anti-imperial, I am anti-stupid.
Kim: “Who cares about stopping wars — actually stopping them, instead of just talking about it?”
I thought that’s what Elaine was pushing the Antiwar website to do: try and actually stop wars, instead of just talking about it.
Yeah, with this obscure web site that no one reads: and she wants people to not donate to antiwar.com, leaving only … ELAINE, the BRAIN! What a freakin’ joke…..
ΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩ
ELAINE: I bear bad news, I don’t make it. Justin is the one attacking his donors, telling leftists that they are stupid and not doing enough while he does virtually nothing at all. So now he is whining about people not donating so much anymore! He can listen to me but won’t so instead, he banned me at Antiwar.com. Which is OK by me. His loss, not mine.
A catfight between Elaine and her girlfriend Justine is great entertainment!
*gets more popcorn*
@JimmyJ
Very funny, the US doesn’t even have the balls to hit North Korea and you’re talking about the US should ‘first strike’ China.
Your entire ‘China response’ theory is yet another typical nonsense that assumes the world only consist of US/China/Russia and the entire world operates under American logic.
Just stick to kicking the little guys who can’t fight back while dreaming about owning the planet.
Kim, you sound like an antiwar.com apologist. Not only do you call names, you fail to understand the past with Elaine. She is older now, dare I say “old” compared to me. Her earlier years of demonstration are mere history now.
And now that it’s your turn, all you have the courage to do is sit back and throw childish insults?
I hear Hammerhead and Elaine are an item.
@Alex: Of course I didn’t advocate that the US should hit China. I am a taoist. I said I think the US will justify it to themselves eventually.
I like to read and participate in comments here, but the truth is, no one really reads them before they reply to them. Which makes commenting pointless. And with all the insults hurled at Elaine, it’s become disgusting to look below the posts.
@JimmyJ
In that case please accept my apology for misreading your intent.
But I’d also like to point out your ‘rational’ analysis does not apply to the average people, if the US first-strike China, China will be forced to retaliate to the bitter end because if the Chinese government don’t do so, the Chinese people will simply revolt, the Chinese people have simply got sick and tired of people fucking with them and the next idiot who ‘first-strike’ them will suffer total loss regardless of any rational reasons.
And in an all-out war between China/US, the rest of the world isn’t going to sit and watch quietly, as soon as that war starts there will be other countries involved because they are either ‘allies’ or they’re ‘enemies’ who’ve been waiting for a chance to hit US or China.
It’ll be highly likely that both US and China will suffer massive losses no matter who hit who with what.
The US would be hit by Russia if we hit China. China’s web of influence is growing, not shrinking. China has more and more allies each day while the US alienates older allies left, right and center. The key item for our loss of allies is Israel. We are rapidly losing the entire Muslim parts of the planet which is a considerable slice.
China is gaining there because they are atheists, not Zionists.
Alex, I wouldn’t worry about the US attacking China directly. At the beginning of the 20th century there were a bunch of “Great Powers,” in Europe. They fought each other directly, in two World Wars, and then there were no more Great Powers in Europe. The lesson does seem to have sunk in.
The US would like to ‘contain’ China, by controlling Vietnam, Tibet, Taiwan, South Korea… I don’t think they would go further than that, militarily.
