Today is the historic anniversary of the birth of the Atomic Age. It’s first action was a test bomb on this day in New Mexico and then a few weeks later, went to work on killing innocent civilians who died with no warning at Hiroshima. The choice of name for this site is very much deliberate: it is our doom, the End of Time. Many people who thought they were saving humanity has fallen into the clutches of the Nuclear Monster ever since that Dragon Egg hatched exactly 66 years ago.
.
Today, even as the US howls with rage over the idea that Iran might enjoy the same dire powers Israel, NATO, China, Russia, India and Pakistan have. Pakistan has small safety from their nuclear dragon but it does prevent the US from ravaging it like Libya. Libya and Iraq had no nuclear dragons and paid dearly for this. No sane leader today dares not have nuclear bombs yet most don’t have them…YET.
.
Saudi Arabia worries so much about this, they openly said, they want nukes, too. Saudi Arabia is very much part of the End of Times scenario as played out in religious dogma. When the US blew up the very first bomb, they didn’t wait long to use it on civilians. No one else will be more merciful. Even as the US frets about Syria killing people, the killing machines launched by US assassins continue to blast away, mercilessly.
.
Eventually, merciless nuclear assassins will infiltrate into the US and detonate bombs against civilians. This isn’t a thing that is unthinkable: the very, very first thing US military leaders and the new President, Truman, thought was to do exactly that! If they could think and then carry out this, then so can anyone else on earth and of course, it is inevitable someone will.
.
The movie, like many American shows about nukes, leaves out the reasons why Khrushchev detonated the world’s biggest nuclear bomb in the Arctic Circle. That is, it was the usual childish geopolitics going on in Cuba and Iran that led to this. The US, back then, was doing what it is doing today: trying to surround both China and Russia with hostile bases bristling with nuclear missiles aimed at both! War games, coups, attacks on civilians in various target nations, and above all, assassination attempts and efforts to incite religious and tribal warfare inside both Russia and China.
.
Dalai Lama and Obama meet to talk about Tibet while a very angry China lodges solemn representations on Obama-Dalai meeting all of which is occurring with the backdrop of the US deliberately going bankrupt due to the GOP wanting to kill Social Security, Medicare and of course, drive out Obama from DC. This insane action will backfire in 1,000 ways but then, when someone goes to Nuclear Dragons and tells it, ‘We want assassinations, wars, civil uprisings and death,’ this is a wish the Dragon dearly loves to bring about. Alas!
.
Here is an older Japanese anime about the first hot breath of the Nuclear Dragon to strike Japan:
Here is the actual part of the anime showing the actual bombing as imagined by the artists:
.
The operator of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant is checking for gas leaks in the No. 3 reactor, into which nitrogen is being injected to prevent a hydrogen explosion.Tokyo Electric Power Company has injected more than 200 cubic meters of nitrogen into the reactor’s containment vessel since Thursday evening. But it says the interior air pressure has increased very little. TEPCO says gas may be leaking from a damaged part of the container.
.
When a Dragon’s egg cracks, you can’t just shove the baby Dragon back inside again. It is like a chick picking its way outwards. The first cracks were made by the huge earthquakes. Then, the first explosions cracked the shells further and now, there is this endless, futile attempt at remaking the eggs only they can’t do this because no one can get near to them to do the work even if this were possible!
.
So water is pumped endlessly into the nest of the Dragon Eggs and nothing comes of it. The heat of summer is weakening the workers struggling to deal with this mess. The global warming people who lied to us about the Dragons are silent now as insidious devilry wracks Japan leading to suicidal thoughts and actions. Even if passive, the destruction is moving through the system like cancer in a body. Just as the US self-destroyed its once proud, healthy, mighty self during the Cold War and is now in the last throes of struggle to stay above the water as the country slowly falls apart at the seams.
.
But no country is falling apart faster than Japan! Contamination of food is growing, not going away: Finding that radiation-tainted straw was produced far from nuclear plant causes shock – The Mainichi Daily News
.
Revelations that radiation-contaminated rice straw used as feed for beef cattle was produced far away from the crippled Fukushima No. 1 Nuclear Power Plant have sent shockwaves through the livestock farming community in Fukushima Prefecture.
Consumers have also been filled with a sense of growing distrust in the government over delays in responding to the problem of radiation-tainted beef.
.
What is even more troubling is this news: Radioactive Cesium from Shiitake Mushrooms Grown Indoors in Date City, Fukushima | EX-SKF
.
The Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare announced on July 15 that 1,770 becquerels/kg of radioactive cesium was detected from shiitake mushrooms grown indoors in Date City, Fukushima Prefecture. The provisional safety limit is 500 becquerels/kg. Shiitake mushrooms grown in Motomiya City in Fukushima also tested 560 becquerels/kg of radioactive cesium. Already, 16 municipalities in Fukushima Prefecture restrict the shipment of shiitake mushrooms grown outdoors. This is the first time that shiitake mushrooms that were grown indoors tested above the safety limit. The national government will consider the shipment restriction.
On June 22, TEPCO issued a document stating, “School corporations are not eligible because they are (legally) incorporated foundations, not small- and medium-sized corporations. We don’t know (about future compensations).”
The Act on Compensation for Nuclear Damages stipulates that the science ministry’s Dispute Reconciliation Committee for Nuclear Damage Compensation is responsible for guidelines to determine the scope of damages. In its first guideline issued in April, the committee defined eligible business entities as “business operators that sustained damage to their operations.” There is no viable reason, therefore, to limit the scope of provisional compensation to small- and medium-sized corporations.
The Mainichi also learned that a school corporation which runs a kindergarten and a social welfare corporation which runs a special nursing home in Minamisoma, as well as a medical corporation which runs a clinic in Tomioka, had all been denied provisional compensation. According to the Fukushima Prefectural Government, there are six school corporations, 22 medical corporations and 15 social welfare corporations within the 30 kilometers from the Fukushima No. 1 Nuclear Power Plant covered by an exclusion zone and an evacuation standby zone.
.
The US got spritzed pretty badly by Japanese nuclear pollution which seems only fair since we did it to them in the past. The problem is, we are now going bankrupt, fast. The US could have limped along for another dozen years or so, so long as we never taxed the rich or their corporations or stopped their fake charities where they hide their wealth. Just as I am rather puzzled as to how the Japanese elites plan to exist with no nation, no tribe, no people, the mixed tribalists and religious entities who are rich here in the US have numerous places to flee to after wrecking the USA. But like fleeing Hitler, this could prove a problem if the US public were to go on the warpath against them, not against say, all Muslims.
.
.
Even Nixon was against air pollution in California! Even Nixon wanted clean water. Alas, Nixon also wanted nuclear bombs and nuclear power! And this was the key difference between him and me back then. And today, myself and many ‘environmentalists’ who pretend they can tame the Nuclear Dragon and it would never devour them!
.
So, when we had the stupid CO2 derivatives swap meet at Copenhagen, people were egged into being hysterical about polar bears…while the US, Israel, NATO and others plotted wars with Muslims, with the Chinese, against the Russians. And while world leaders were claiming, they were going to save us from being too DAMN HOT by taxing our use of energy and then pocketing it themselves….they unleashed even more Nuclear Dragons on us and these are ROASTING US quite nicely and if released entirely from their many hidden eggs buried in nuclear silos or deep under the seas, we will all be burned to a cinder pretty damn fast, I assure everyone. Burned to nothingness.
.
NO polar bears will survive the Apocalypse nor will many Americans, rich or poor, Democrat or Republican. We are all in the same danger here and I hope environmentalists wake up and look closely at what really endangers us: our own leaders, Republican and Democratic, our own military, our own government. Taking this government back into our control is life and death and this, in turn, means stopping foreigners from running it into the ground. Murdoch is just one of many and he may now finally go down in flames and I hope he jumps into the ocean and drowns like Robert Maxwell offshore of Fukushima. One can only hope.

Why did i not know this? Japanese giant hornets kill 40 people/yr in Japan. they have a wingspan of 2.4”
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_giant_hornet
‘US deliberately going bankrupt
due to the GOP wanting to kill Social Security, Medicare ‘
How does ‘killing the safety net’ cause ”the US to go bankrupt’?
@90404 ~ Wake up and smell the offal. For decades, GOP has made no secret of its hatred of social programs and regulatory agencies, especially those in charge of overseeing clean air and water.
Both kinds of programs are useless, as they stand in the way of unlimited profits.
We’ve been watching the GOP’s simple and transparent plan for bankrupting America and seizing power — where’ve you been?
Three simple steps should lead to Financial Armageddon in short order:
Step 1) Deliberately ratchet up wild spending on pointless wars and reckless tax giveaways, in full knowledge that the bill will shortly come due. IF GOP is in power when the piper demands payment, simply claim “Deficits don’t matter,” rinse, repeat, kick the can. The corp-controlled media’s in your pocket anyway, so argument and informed analysis won’t penetrate the cocoons of voters living in the 90404 zip code and elsewhere. Any protests can either be ignored or marginalized by constantly repeating lies and disinformation. If opposition party is in power when the bills come due, proceed to Step 2. .
Step 2) Start screaming about the deficit. Best if the screams coincide with a financial panic, it adds quite nicely to the general hysteria. Use bulging corporate coffers to buy Fox News, the WSJ, Clear Channel Communications and any number of media outlets and convert them to rightwing soapboxes, even if that means abandoning journalistic standards in favor of spewing 24/7 fascist propaganda and religious nuttery,
Step 3) Demand immediate and drastic cuts in hated regulatory agencies and social spending programs, Refuse to consider any alternative remedies that would place the slightest burden on multi-national corporations or well-funded lobbying groups.
Step 4) If this fails or when the clamor in the streets grows too loud to ignore, insert fingers into ears and shout “Lalalalalalalala, I can’t hear you!” and walk out of formal and informal debate and discussions. These tactics worked when you were 6 years old, they’re certainly time-tested and proven.
Step 5) When your actions have the predictable results on the markets and in local breadlines, scream “It’s Obama’s fault!” even though said Obama is on your side most of the time. After all, no amount of filthy air, water or public misery is too much to bear, when it comes to your seizing control of the careening vehicle. Should you succeed in getting back in the driver’s seat, drive the car off the cliff and see that you bail at the last minute. Should you fail to take control, you’ll still be in the car … it’s a simple matter to wrench the wheel even more sharply to the right just before you bail.
Get it now?
.
Oops, paragraph 4 … should read THESE simple steps (not three simple steps)
apologies
What a hoot you start talking about the “innocent civilians ” of Japan during WW2 , while their Army was busy raping and pillaging its way across China (Rape of Nanking) in the 30′s BEFORE the attack on Pearl Harbor. Not to mention the unspeakable horrors and crimes against humanity against anything or anyone that stood in the way of their attempted enslavement of the peoples of Asia. So do me a favor and cut “the poor little japanese civilians” crap. They reaped only a fraction of the evil they sowed.
Alright, let’s see if I can get this embed thingy to work:

crap, oh well
My take on environmentalists not paying enough attention to war as a sustainability issue is that’s a sign of them not connecting all the dots. One of Barry Commoner’s Laws of Ecology is “Everything is connected to everything else.” This includes war. I consider war to be a sustainability issue, and I should probably do a compilation of all the articles that I’ve included in my posts where I’ve noted that war is a sustainability issue in a special post the same way I’ve compiled all the stories involving China into a dedicated, if irregular, series. I’ll be sure to link you and your readers to it when I do.
Also, as for environmentalists thinking they can tame the nuclear genie as nuclear power, I see that as an attempt to have their cake and eat it, too. Nuclear power is one way to keep our high-energy-consumption lifestyle going while reducing carbon dioxide emissions. It also is an energy system that makes for a bridge to a renewable future. Finally, it’s something that the The Establishment would get behind. As a compromise, it works. As something sustainable, that’s another story.
Finally, I’m glad to see you using anime again to support your points. I find it downright charming and it will guarantee that I review your blog more.
Speaking of which, In my most recent post, (Weekly Roundup for July 10th through 16th, 2011), I made the programming note that I plan on reviewing what you’ve had to say about Kunstler at least twice this month, at least one of which will be this week–probably tomorrow, in time for his regular Monday morning post. That one will be on how he got the role of dogs wrong in his post-Peak-Oil novels. I need to do more research on your rift with him over Israel for the next entry. I hope you don’t mind the examination and hope to have more input from you on it.
tfoth, just past in the URL for the video as it appears in the browser window. Don’t add anything to it. WordPress will embed it for you as long as the original post allows embedding. Here, I’ll show you.
BTW, there are more visually interesting videos of Godzilla on YouTube featuring footage from the movies. Would you like me to post one of them?
the governments of the world will have no trouble taking over if they can continue to count on the massive democratic support they get-no matter what they do when they are in power.
bad, bad fox news for reporting anything critical of you-know-who.
i guess dependency trumps everything.
What’s a japanese parent to do?
They might like to consider this report
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chernobyl:_Consequences_of_the_Catastrophe_for_People_and_the_Environment
“it does not sufficiently investigate the large decrease in average male life spans throughout Belarus, Russia and Ukraine”
If you live in europe you have a neighbour from Belarus. This ones easy, the young healthy males left for other countries as fast as possible.
It is a surprise to me that anyone could perceive nuclear power as ‘an energy system that makes for a bridge to a renewable future’.
http://www.newsinenglish.no/2010/05/19/chernobyl-effects-still-showing-up/
The japanese in the video above must leave as soon as possible, how long will it take 127 million persons to fill out resident visa application forms? maybe someone has written an app.
Curiously, why does the leader of a democracy think he has to meet Dalai Lama knowing that this act will upset his country’s bankers. Like Dalai Lama doesn’t run a country, has never been elected to any post, is only revered by arty celebs. Does anyone know?
we have a confused president, who was handpicked because he could be easily led by those who really pull the strings. (as our last one was also)
I am surprised a nuclear terror attack hasn’t happened already. Obviously this is great news, but how long will it last? I’ve always thought that the attack on 9-11 was, while of course tragic, a very low tech attack. If al-Qaida is so powerfull, why didn’t they use a nuke? Bin Laden had enough wealth where he could have secured one–possibly. Sooner or later, the USA will pay for their warmongering–and it won’t be a pretty sight. There is going to be, imho, plenty of ‘blowback’, It won’t faze the US ruling class though. They’ll probably bring in Henry Kissinger and/or James Baker III to straighten everything out. Then this country will truly be f#cked.
Alright, we’ll see about all this.
No, I don’t want a ‘music video’. I prefer just the music, thank you very much.
I played a gig on a bill with BOC once. I was standing right in front of Buck Dharma’s guitar rig at soundcheck It was LOUD. Really LOUD. Strangely, 2008 was their best year to date for concert profits. I think that famous “cowbell” skit from SNL helped them out. The music business is really f*cked up.
