GOP North/South Split Widens, Hurricane Sandy Aid Passes House

GOP splits over hurricane aid

The Crack of doom yawns wider and wider as the Northeastern GOP  representatives, fearing losing office, break with the mostly-Southern/rural/Western GOP to vote with the hated liberal Democratic Party to give aid and comfort to the many millions of Hurricane Sandy victims.  The attempt by the GOP to strand these citizens in distress and then blame it on Obama has failed miserably.

This crack can only widen as the GOP goes totally anti-statist when it comes to Federal matters.  True, the breaking apart of the US empire may benefit people who live far from our shores.  We abuse our imperial powers.  But breaking up the US will cause a lot of suffering here at home, just look at the former Soviet states today.  The collapse of communism led to capitalist looting regimes.

The state of New Jersey will see its GOP members leave the party if this sort of sectarian hostility continues from mainly Southern Republicans:  House’s approval of Hurricane Sandy aid met with praise from N.J. lawmakers | NJ.com

Brick Township Mayor Stephen Acropolis, a Republican, said he would have been “very disappointed” in his party if Congress had not approved the package.

“Now they’re getting it down in D.C. and making sure people in the most densely populated state in the country are going to get help,” he said.

Mayors said they don’t need the money to get recovery projects started — they’ve been deep in rebuild mode since the day after the Oct. 29 storm. But they said they need to know how they’re going to pay for the work. Towns have been borrowing most of the funds and without some definitive word from Congress they didn’t know how that will affect their budgets.

The entire point of having systems run large is to spread the costs of risks.  We see how global banking collapsed due to spreading the risks not to the system but by pretending there were no risks and then parking all the risk in AIG which then couldn’t pay for the cost of damage to the system.  So instead, the US empire and the EU paid for all of it at great cost.

The ability to have all systems support each other is the fundamental basis of all civilized systems.  My lovely country estate would not be very nice if we didn’t have functional systems set up across all of society, for example.  I pay taxes to keep the social fabric strong and am very pissed off that free trade and offshoring things has ravaged the economic base here in my rural community.

Cutting taxes has fixed nothing. NOTHING.  Nay, it got visibly worse.  The problem isn’t taxes, it is the lack of protection of all our systems here at home while rich people exploit foreign labor.  Cutting taxes makes that worse, not better.  Balancing the budget does nothing to fix the economic problems our country faces.  It is worse than zero effect.  We can have balanced budgets until the cows come home and the wolves will still eat all the cows before they come home.

Here is the rage of NJ right wing suburban Republicans in full howl:  House approves $50B for Sandy relief – The Hill’s Floor Action

“Florida, good luck with no more hurricanes,” Rep. Frank LoBiondo (R-N.J.) shouted to any member who might oppose the bill. “California, congratulations, did you get rid of the Andreas Fault? The Mississippi’s in a drought. Do you think you’re not going to have a flood again?

“Who are you going to come to when you have these things? We need this, we need it now. Do the right thing, as we have always done for you.”

Yes, the Republican from NJ was just fine with digging in his own heels for four long, lousy years just in the hopes that a rich offshore banker would take over and fix things.  The insanity of all of this is obvious: the guy getting rich off of the free trade hell isn’t going to save anyone.  It took a major hurricane to turn the NE GOP against their program of destroying the Federal Government because a black Democrat is President.  These guys should all kiss Obama’s feet and thank him for saving them from their own follies.

We need to spend money at home!  This is a good thing.  We need higher prices for goods and to do this via tariffs if we want to preserve jobs here.  Crime ravages the lower working class communities due to no other forms of middle income work remain as the US is hollowed out by free trade.  And then there is the guns going off every day:  Advocates for mental health have momentum after Conn. massacre.

My husband’s mental healthcare physician is leaving to go work full time at the county jail. This is due to most mentally ill patients with social problems no longer go to asylums, they are sent to prison instead.  Here in NY, realizing a major proportion of the prison population is really mentally ill is causing governments to do saner things and treat these poor people instead of being punitive all the time.

In the GOP states, they choose the ‘put them in prison and abuse them there’ method.  This is a throwback to pre-1700 style methods of dealing with the mentally ill. Instead of fixing what is wrong, the GOP wants to have more armed people in schools so naturally, we have to note just yesterday, St. Louis Business School Shooting: Police Respond To Stevens Institute of Business and Arts.

Here in NY, our governor just signed a new law as New York Leads on Gun Control.  The hysteria over regulating firearms is frankly, insane, and I am a gun owner who keeps my guns under lock and key.  And I use guns, for survival purposes.  I  had zero use for guns in NYC.  I have out here in the countryside.  The gun nuts are threatening my own position here by being unreasonable, hysterical and dangerously unhinged, threatening anyone who tries to stop the mass murders by controlling semi-auto guns or anything that can spray bullets.

Now for more unhinged news:  This man helped save six children, is now getting harassed for it – Salon.com

“I don’t know what to do,” sighed Gene Rosen. “I’m getting hang up calls, I’m getting some calls, I’m getting emails with, not direct threats, but accusations that I’m lying, that I’m a crisis actor, ‘how much am I being paid’?” Someone posted a photo of his house online. There have been phony Google+ and YouTube accounts created in his name, messages on white supremacist message boards ridiculing the “emotional Jewish guy,” and dozens of blog posts and videos “exposing” him as a fraud. One email purporting to be a business inquiry taunted: “How are all those little students doing? You know, the ones that showed up at your house after the ‘shooting’. What is the going rate for getting involved in a gov’t sponsored hoax anyway?”

The modern media systems means people attack online with little regard as to the damage they cause.  Because the gun nut community (and by no stretch are all gun owners gun nuts!) is enraged because the slaughter of innocent children is fueling calls for more civic care, more gun restrictions and more mental health care.  Many people think that medications cause mass murder which comes from mixing up cause and effect.

Treating the mentally ill doesn’t mean it works successfully especially if the unhealthy person refuses to take their medications or get some active therapy to learn better coping skills.  Eliminating medication fixes nothing.  Leaving the mentally ill to cope with nothing is insane.

Worse, we now see online rapid growth in irrational thinking when it comes to any event.  Analysis doesn’t mean mindlessly looking for ‘facts’.  It means understanding how systems work.  All events have rumor and conflicting ‘facts’ which have to be cleared up but most are meaningless facts that are people’s imagination or coincidental things that don’t matter.  On the other hand, cover ups do happen.  This conflict between information and hiding information doesn’t make many theories even remotely probable.

The secrecy with which our government runs since WWII has been toxic.  But the reaction to this is also toxic.  I struggle to explain the Bilderberg operation when people then demand I have to also believe that vaccinations are a conspiracy to kill us (one of the stupidest beliefs, ever).  Or that I have to believe that flying saucers with aliens buzz us every night so they can practice proctological exams on us, etc.  There are a zillion bizarre beliefs that are encrusted on the ‘Bilderberg’ meme.

Which enables the Bilderberg conspirators to operate with impunity since the people trying to expose them are prey to irrational fears and stupid beliefs.  the recent Alex Jones Melts Down On HuffPost Live – YouTube is a sad, typical example.  He can’t help but begin raging about all sorts of imaginary spooky things which reveals a credulous mind.

The gun nut community wants Sandy Hook to go away and the easiest way to do this is to pretend it is a conspiracy.  9/11 was treated this way by people wishing to do something about Bush and Cheney which allowed both to get away with no real examination of all the complicit junk surrounding 9/11 which they were party to and knew about.  Now, we have debates about bombs that never existed while the real criminal actions remain shrouded in darkness to the great glee of the criminals at the top of our government who enabled this attack.

And we are still at war with all Muslims: U.S. weighs military support for France’s campaign against Mali militants.  Like with Syria and Iran, etc, our media works day and night to egg us into more wars with Muslims.  These are literally endless.  As we retreat from Afghanistan, Six bombers attack Afghan spy agency, kill two.  Just today, a Wave of violence kills at least 17 in Iraq.  Oops, make that double:  Violence erupts across Iraq killing 30 – Video on NBCNews.com.

Then there is banking:

headlines about bankers making out like bandits

They are bailed out, big time.  And they pumped money into Romney’s campaign so he could rule us for them.  And then Hurricane Sandy hit and hit Wall Street and their Jersey City operations very hard.  So they want money from DC.  HAHAHA.  Yes, saving the rest of us is done despite attempts by these guys to cut our throats.  Even bankers have to realize we are all in this together and I wish more Americans believed this.  We can’t save ourselves while hating ourselves and slitting each other’s throats or shooting school children dead due to being suicidally insane.

I was wondering if you had noticed the Mali thing. I don’t really understand it. RT did not explain why the French were there in the first place (oil? minerals? what?).

Of course, jewish religious fanatics have spread their wars to Africa now. Jews from the north (muslims?) are marching south and Jews (Christians? Orthodox?) are marching north to fight each other. Subsaharan Africans are caught in the middle — killed if they do not choose a side.

Thailand now has the same problem. Jewish religious fanatics in the south are killing and bombing people and want to create their own “state”. At least they do not have oil. If they did, they would be destroyed like Burma.

France is flexing it’s old colonial muscles again. They are heavily involved in Syria, just like they were in Libya. Mali is part their old hunting grounds in the Sahara region like Marocco and Algeria etc.

    Here’s a map:

It’s just the same old, same old looting operations in modern clothing.

ELAINE: correct. And there is the oil that the US and EU pump out of Algeria…

“This crack can only widen as the GOP goes totally anti-statist when it comes to Federal matters.” I think deep down, the Republicans–the ones who actually run the Party–KNOW their days as a influential Party are numbered. Their base is shriveling and GOP leaders know it. I think Republicans want to do as much damage to the country as possible before it’s game over for them. Remember what Grover Norquist said? He wanted the Republican Party to strangle the government in a bathtub. Or words to that effect. But what Norquist and the leaders of the GOP really wanted to ‘strangle’ is the American Middle Class. Big ‘guvmint’ was just a codeword for Middle Class. With Republicans it has been class warfare against the Middle Class since the lying fraudster Ronald Reagan was elected.

So – keep spending money we don’t have. Grow that government!

Eventually, it will collapse from the weight of its own bloat.

    Then nobody will get “assistance.”

Elaine, i love your blog and have read it since 2007. You are very sane and balanced in your insights. But, I have seen a documentary by 1500 architects and engineers with a combined professional experience of 2,500 years. Their research points to the use of thermite explosives in all three WTC buildings. Their analysis is sane and rational. All the forensic evidence points to thermite. After watching the documentary, I can no longer call “bombs in the buildings” a looney conspiracy theory. It is not. It has the physical proof to make a VERY compelling case. But only a Major World Power can procure thermite. Only Elites of some sort…. The documentary is by Architects and Engineers for 911 Truth. Maybe you should watch and see what you think

    ΩΩΩΩ

ELAINE: Why would they do that? Eh? Originally, the bombs in the building fanatics pretended Bush and Cheney did this to be dictators and then both men left quietly when Obama won. The Gop has been howling at Obama ever since so where is the vast power they supposedly gained by deliberately bombing the WTC? Gone, no?

Oops. YOU HAVE TO HAVE A MOTIVE.

As for the experts: they are delusional and this is not uncommon when people are emotional and get dragged into things. MORE experts disagree with your experts so it is a wash.

The problem with the “bombs in the building” ideology is that it assumes that the airplanes were “incidental” to the real plot: to blow up the buildings using thermite explosives and then… what?

Am I really supposed to believe George Bush knew there were bombs in the building, but had no idea two planes would crash into them at the exact moment they intended to detonate them? Atta and his planes were a complete surprise that caught everyone in the oval office off-guard?

Elaine is right about this being a crazy mania.

In legal terms, we would say in court that whether or not there were bombs hidden in the building is “moot,” since George Bush and his inner circle knew of Atta and his gang, allowed them to operate on US soil unimpeded, made no attempt to stop the hijackings they knew would happen, and then allowed them to fly two jet liners full of people into skyscrapers.

It’s called murder, complicity to murder, accessory to murder, accessory to hijacking and kidnapping, and a whole laundry list of other charges which are enough to put him away for 400 years (consecutively).

    No thermite swabs needed.

  7. emsnews

Correct, the ‘bombs’ were totally unnecessary.

Some of these people pretend the new owner of the WTC wanted it demolished. But with the planes crashing, it was doomed anyways.

The buildings were CRAP built CHEAP with BAD CEMENT and I said this since day one when I observed it being built because I lived nearby.

You all assume that 9/11 was done to further the political aspirations of BushCo. Viewed through that lens, of course it makes no sense. BUT, if you’re looking at this as advancing the globalist/NWO agenda (Bilderberg, Rothschilds, etc.) then yeah, it does make sense. 9/11 was not carried out by “the government.” Rather, it was a psychopathic, corrupt faction within the government, which effectively controls the direction of Western Civ, that was responsible.

They staged Sandy Hook, too. Why else was the United Way relife page created three days before the shooting took place?!

  9. emsnews

Um, a number of people killed in the attacks were Wall Street guys. Why would they attack themselves?

And as for the Sandy Hook ‘conspiracy’ thinking: it is identical to the insanity surrounding 9/11. You guys want to rewrite thing so your pet itches are scratched.

Look, these ‘coincidences’ are not conspiracies. The world is full of coincidences that have nothing to do with anything else. Stuff happens.
