China Copies US Secret Militarization Of Space

Earlier, I noted that the Chinese military are being allowed to penetrate very deep into the Pentagon. This is due to the bizarre belief that the Chinese are our allies and not a great power striving to content with us for dominance of the planet.  So here is some more interesting news from not only China but Japan, our other ally we have many mistaken beliefs about:

Space arms race inevitable says Chinese commander – Telegraph

China, which hopes to put a man on the moon by 2020, has long stated that it supported the peaceful uses of outer space and opposed the introduction of weapons there. However Xu Qiliang, a senior Chinese air force commander, said it was imperative for the PLA air force to develop offensive and defensive operations in outer space….

Dear Ronnie Reagan opened that particular door to destruction when he endorsed the entire concept of Star Wars.  The US refused to say that we would keep weapons out of the various orbits around the earth.  We also chortled over the possibility of trumping both Russia and China by denuding them of the ability to shoot us with nuclear missiles while we could terrorize them at will.

Reagan also saw the Star Wars program flounder and fail so he negotiated with Russia despite the screams and caws of the neocons who wanted to punish their old Stalinist enemies.  We must remember the neocons were nearly all Troskyite clones and carried huge grudges even to this very day which is why US relations with Russia are so poor.

Anyway, the Chinese are simply noting that they too can be like the US and militarize space at whim.  This is also an invitation for the US to respect China and open real negotiations limiting our powers.  This, while the US screams and caws about Iran arming itself dimly like the US which bristles with nuclear weapons.  We have nuclear bombs under the oceans, on land and maybe even in space.  So our hysteria about others doing as we do is beyond childish.

…”As far as the revolution in military affairs is concerned, the competition between military forces is moving towards outer space,” he told the People’s Liberation Army Daily in an interview to mark last month’s 60th Anniversary of Communist China, “this is a historical inevitability and a development that cannot be turned back.”

The reality-based Chinese like to lecture the US. They itch to do this because we constantly lecture them about human rights while we murder and torture civilians, for example. Or we lecture them about their internal territorial integrity, suggesting they have none, while being very vigilant to stop say, the Hispanics from cleaving California or New Mexico from the US orbit.

Although Beijing has also sought to establish an international treaty to control the deployment of weapons in space, China surprised the world in 2007 when it shot down one of its own weather satellites in a test seen by many, including the United States, as a possible trigger of an arms race in space.

2007 was the year the G7 decided to coddle Japan in the currency issues while hammering China for doing exactly like Japan was doing.  China got increasingly angry about this bizarre two-faced policy and retaliated on several fronts.  This is one of the major ones: it showed us that our vaunted secret military space program was worthless.

“The PLA air force must establish in a timely manner the concepts of space security, space interests and space development,” Mr Xu added, “We must build an outer space force that conforms with the needs of our nation’s development (and) the demands of the development of the space age.”

The US hopes to still dominate Asia with our very expensive navy.  Yet all of Asia knows that all the Muslims have to do is flick a wrist and all our attention goes there and we are stretched very, very thin at this point.  The Chinese also know they fund our navy for us. And plan to do something about this.

Our navy has been hollowed out nearly totally.  We have very few shipyards that build craft and these can be taken out pretty fast in WWIII.  China has major ship building capacity at all ports and is one of the major ship builders of the 21st century.  We no longer build anything but a tiny handful of military ships. One of the stupidest side effects of free trade is, the utter and total destruction of the US native shipping industry and ship building.

England is even more decimated and can’t even build much in the way of military ships and has no merchant ship building at all: a 100 year collapse after 1,000 years of maritime independence and 250 years of global domination of the Seven Seas.  If we imagine the sun isn’t setting on us, too, well, look out the window.  It is getting pretty dark out there.

Humiliating Japan –

Perhaps the pressures to be anti-American will dissipate down the road, but in the meantime other Asian nations are getting worried about Japan’s new assertiveness. They realize that only Washington guarantees the peace and stability of East Asia and that America cannot do so without its bases in Japan. The ones in Okinawa are critically important because they are close to vital shipping lanes and are near to China and Taiwan.

Why are we keeping Japan’s shipping lanes open?  Why are we protecting Japan from China?  Did Japan’s shipbuilding business collapse like ours?  Did Japan’s merchant marine vanish like the one in the UK and the US?

The answer is obvious: Japan still furiously builds ships, ever bigger ones.  And Japan’s merchant marine moves with total impunity in and out of US and UK ports, not vice versa.  And every damn penny of this protection of maritime Japan comes out of our own pockets, too!  Sweet for Asia, stinky for us.

Ultimately, the Pentagon should be able to get its way on Futenma, but perhaps not without long-term damage to the alliance, which itself is becoming an issue in Japan–as well as in Washington. Said a senior State Department official to the Washington Post this month, “the hardest thing right now is not China, it’s Japan.” Gates showed his displeasure last week when he refused to attend a welcoming ceremony at the Defense Ministry and declined to dine with its officials, unheard of snubs. The Japanese, for their part, have been openly contradicting American officials, which is also unprecedented.

Israel not only spits in our President’s faces, all of them, the Japanese can now openly insult the US and laugh their way all the way to the bank.  Right now, trade with the US is awful.  This doesn’t mean the US is flooding Japan with imports.  Quite the contrary.  But the Japanese are in a foul mood and quite ready to slap us around.

Our loss of face in Asia is profound.  Anyone who imagines the great Asian powers who own our debts, control our currency and hammer us in world trade not only in the rest of the world but even in our home base, this loss of face is IMMENSE.  And anyone who thinks this isn’t true should look at history: being a stupid dupe never earns respect.

And nothing on earth is dumber than the US free trade policies that hammer our own sovereignty to death.

The displays of American anger may be personally satisfying, but they are certainly unproductive, and it is up to the U.S. to heal the widening breach. For one thing, Washington has an obligation to defend South Korea and cannot do so without a stable alliance with Japan.

We have no obligation to defend anyone but ourselves.  This idea has to be hammered home.  No nation should ever enter into eternal treaties which are all obligations on one side and nothing on the other side.  We got stuck with defending South Korea before I was born! And when I die, should this still be true?

Of course not!  It is just as bad with Israel, or all of Europe.  When Russia fell, we didn’t withdraw from Europe, we expanded our ‘obligations’ and now are obligated to commit suicide for Ukraine every time the Ukrainian government decides to poke at the Russian Bear.

Now, some readers here are trapped in this noxious conspiracy belief pit that includes the idea that all contrails are really secret experiments to control the weather and kill everyone after they get their flu shots and watch FOX TV.

Moscow Mayor Promises a Winter Without Snow – Yahoo! News

Pigs still can’t fly, but this winter, the mayor of Moscow promises to keep it from snowing. For just a few million dollars, the mayor’s office will hire the Russian Air Force to spray a fine chemical mist over the clouds before they reach the capital, forcing them to dump their snow outside the city. Authorities say this will be a boon for Moscow, which is typically covered with a blanket of snow from November to March. Road crews won’t need to constantly clear the streets, and traffic – and quality of life – will undoubtedly improve.

The idea came from Mayor Yury Luzhkov, who is no stranger to playing God. In 2002, he spearheaded a project to reverse the flow of the vast River Ob through Siberia to help irrigate the country’s parched Central Asian neighbors. Although that idea hasn’t exactly turned out as planned – scientists have said it’s not feasible – this time, Luzhkov says, there’s no way he can fail.

Controlling the weather in Moscow is nothing new, he says. Ahead of the two main holidays celebrated in the city each year – Victory Day in May and City Day in September – the often cash-strapped air force is paid to make sure that it doesn’t, well, rain on the parades. With a city budget of $40 billion a year (larger than New York City’s budget), Moscow can easily afford the $2-3 million price tag to keep the skies blue as spectators watch the tanks and rocket launchers roll along Red Square. Now there’s a new challenge for the air force: Moscow’s notorious blizzards.

Note how the Russians BOAST about this.  Of course, when these seedings fail, they don’t mention it.  Yes, governments have seeded clouds for over 50 years.  Nearly always if not always, at the behest of many people.  For example, farmers in the US positively demand this but don’t get it nearly as much as they desire.

Can we manipulate the weather? | Environment | The Guardian

The unseasonal snow that fell on Beijing for 11 hours on Sunday was the earliest and heaviest there has been for years. It was also, China claims, man-made. By the end of last month, farmland in the already dry north of China was suffering badly due to drought. So on Saturday night China’s meteorologists fired 186 explosive rockets loaded with chemicals to “seed” clouds and encourage snow to fall. “We won’t miss any opportunity of artificial precipitation since Beijing is suffering from a lingering drought,” Zhang Qiang, head of the Beijing Weather Modification Office, told state media.

The US has tinkered with such cloud seeding to increase water flow from the Sierra Nevada mountains in California since the 1950s, but there remains widespread scientific sniffiness in the west at such attempts at weather control. The chemicals fired into the sky, usually dry ice or silver iodide, are supposed to provide a surface for water vapour to form liquid rain. But there is little evidence that it works – after all, how do investigating scientists know it would not have rained anyway?

When people see many criss cross contrails in the sky, this is due to all the goofy humans flying here, there and everywhere.  Our goods travel often via air, too.  So this adds even more contrails.  Most of the time, these are invisible.  Only when there is rising moisture before a storm front, do the contrails show up and grow in size.  This is the nature of contrails.

It is not a conspiracy, it is how jets operate in the real world.  Note also, the Chinese used small rockets, not jets.  Of  course, this is the economical way to do the cloud seeding and China invented rockets several hundred years ago, anyway. Also note how, like the Russians, the Chinese BOAST about controlling the weather.  If the mythological elites were controlling the weather, they, too, would boast about ending droughts, etc.

Do note that Australia, for example, is suffering from a terrible drought.  Why didn’t the scary elites stop it?  Or is this a super-secret double coded plot to kill everyone in Australia by drying up all the water?  HAHAHA.  I would suggest this is madness.  On to more weather stories:

Winter crisis could see UK ‘run out of gas in hours’ | Business | The Observer

The UK could run out of gas within six hours this winter, the Observer has learned. The revelation has sparked a row between the Conservatives and Labour over who is doing more to keep the heating on. Last winter, the UK was left with only three days of reserves when foreign energy companies started exporting gas to supply their European customers after Russia cut supplies that used a pipeline through Ukraine.

A spokeswoman for Ed Miliband’s energy and climate change department said that under a civil contingency act he had the power to halt exports from the UK if the Queen had signed the order.

Charles Hendry, the shadow energy minister, told the Observer that the current minimum requirements on companies to keep gas in storage were not tough enough to safeguard the security of the UK’s energy supplies….

….But National Grid has told energy companies that they only need to fill tanks by a minimum of 2.3% this winter. If all gas imports to the UK ground to a halt, for example if Gazprom turned off supplies to Europe, and supplies from the North Sea were disrupted, this amount would keep the country’s households and businesses supplied for just six hours on a cold day. In France, regulators require companies to keep their facilities at least 85% full from November.

The competition between the French and English to see who will get the last laugh continues.  England is losing this round, big, big time.  France will have energy and the Brits will have to feed all of Europe England’s gas while they, themselves, go without.  Isn’t that so typical of the US/UK empire?

Stupid, that is.  Very stupid.  Beggars at the Gates of the Dragon while slitting our own throats.  And no planes are dumping weather altering chemicals on us to make us this stupid, either.  This is epidemic and not caused by germs, too.  It is the final result of the collapse of imperial powers.

scientists have said it’s not feasible – this time, Luzhkov says, there’s no way he can fail.

    “I have a plan.

    What sort of plan?

A plan that cannot possibly fail.

Anyone who has seen ‘A Shot in the Dark’ should at least get a chuckle, if not a laugh, or even the last laugh.

Contrails always form as a result of the combustion process in jet engines releasing water vapor into the stratosphere. Contrails ALWAYS form, but the amount of time they are visible (or the length of the contrail) is a function of the upper air wind velocity. The faster the wind speed, the shorter the contrail tail.

As a pilot, I never understood the whole chemtrail thing but several people believe there is substance to it. One can google a you tube post of a mainstream news station in LA that analyzed the air after a so-called chemtrail spraying and found heavy concentrations of barium, aluminum and some heavy metals. They made inquiries to the air force under the FOIA but never received a response.

The technology certainly exists to spray whatever into the atmosphere quite easily, so it is illogical to dismiss all such claims out of hand. However, it is also equally possible that there is a beneficial intention to these sprayings, such as weather nodification, reducing global warming, etc.

It is interesting to me that the supposedly closed societies of russia and china make no bones about their weather modification programs but the “free” western media never reports on the us efforts…despite the high likelihood they have been going on since the 50s

ELAINE: Whenever they do spraying in the US at the behest of farmers, all sorts of people scream about this so probably they don’t talk about it much. But yes, farmers DO demand this of their representatives.

The contrail conspiracy believers, on the other hand, look at the sky and are disturbed to see the natural outcome of jet travel. The older one is, the more disturbed one is.

This is due to memories of pre-jet flight skies. I remember when my dad took us on a Boeing test flight of one of the very first passenger jets: the pilots took straight off into the air and things that were not secured went flying all over the place. Being very young, I thought this was very funny.

In 1955, there were less than 500 jets in the air across the entire planet. Today, there are many hundreds of thousands. This changes the weather in various ways. Where there is upper stratospheric moisture, this creates more cloud formation activity.

Suspects in Uzbekistan’s gulags “were being told to confess to membership in Al Qaeda. They were told to confess they’d been in training camps in Afghanistan. They were told to confess they had met Osama bin Laden in person. And the CIA intelligence constantly echoed these themes.”

    I quote you Elaine:

“We must remember the neocons were nearly all Troskyite clones and carried huge grudges even to this very day which is why US relations with Russia are so poor.”

What nonsense is this! You really should stick to your knitting and not allow free rein to any bizzare metaphor that enters your head. I come here to read an economist, not a ranting bigot.

  7. emsnews

    Are you a neocon?

Ask anyone at about the Troskyite neocons. And frankly, I personally knew these guys back when they were pure Troskyites. Like, at Berkeley and NYU back in the 1960’s.

  8. B.A.

It was my understanding that most neocons where, in fact, communists in their youth. Not so surprising, given their authoritarian style, love of exporting revolution and quasi religious ( or plain religious? ) lack of self doubt. Only when we demonize (dehumanize?) communists can we be surprised.
I don’t believe neo cons to be truly capitalist anyway. Capitalism to them is a tool, one among many, for global domination. They’d be equally confortable running any type of totalitarian regime. The competitive elements of capitalism are foreign to them, as they are to most, mostly rent seeking corporations.
Imagine for a second that the internet had been legislated into public use during the rule of Bush the Younger and his gang, and not during the vice presidency of Al Gore who, carefully and discreetly nurtured it into what it became, and who, for that alone, deserves another Nobel price. Imagine any of them chicken hawks deciding on what levels of openness, anonymity and public access would be “prudent”. Or the equaly prudent Obama, for that matter. Or the no nonsense Mr. Putin.
    They’re former commmies alright.

  9. John (The Original)

Yep—the neocons are all former leftists; to learn that they’re Tortskyites is not a bit surprising.

  10. emsnews

Horowitz, for example, a big time right wing Zionist neocon, was a total leftist when I knew him in 1969, in Berkeley (I knew his ex-wife, he was nasty to her).

  11. nah

if the goverment were poisening us with airborne ‘mind control’ gases or whatever… flying a 50,000 feet is a terrible dispersal method…. and the risk to the government itself if everyone starts dying or going crazy ‘see zombies’ is pretty overboard
the worst thing about space is that it doesnt ‘go away’ very fast…. theres no way to ‘clean up space’…. i would hope US plans for space rely on orbit management first… be a hell of a thing if generic satelites got mass produced that could have massive orbit failures that just meander about the verying key altitudes for decades at a time….
besides theres not much geo-sycronus space left ive herd
got to manage space, telecommunications are just to important for peaceful international trade and organizations
id rather a diabolical asia than a turd sandwich…. maybe we could learn something about entangled alliances and the practice of nationhood

or read the constitution or something

  12. DeVaul

    What is a Troskyite?

I, for one, am surprised that these neocon warmongers used to be leftists, but I do see the logic in what you all are saying. If true, then they are amazing hypocrites and perhaps the term “neocon” should be made synonomous with “hypocrite”.

  13. Steve

B.A., I agreed with most of what you wrote. But not “Imagine for a second that the internet had been legislated into public use during the rule of Bush the Younger and his gang, and not during the vice presidency
of Al Gore who, carefully and discreetly nurtured it into what it became”

No no. The growth of the internet was largely accidental. We should reject any idea that it was given to us by a benevolent politician. It evolved very freely, mostly because people donated their time to creating it. Both business and governments have been trying very hard to tame it ever since.

I remember the active push to turn the internet into an “information superhighway”. The idea was that we were going to start using it mainly for online shopping. IE got built into windows, along with a bunch of advertising to join services like AOL or MSN. There was a rush to invest in dot com companies that were going to start milking all the new consumers.

That was the great plot of the 90’s. But net culture was too well established, or it failed for some other reason. It couldn’t be transformed into a unidirectional ‘superhighway’ like TV, and the people who’d invested in that lost a bundle.

  14. John

    I quote you again Elaine.

    “Are you a neocon?
Ask anyone at about the Troskyite neocons. And frankly, I personally knew these guys back when they were pure Troskyites. Like, at Berkeley and NYU back in the 1960’s.”

No, I’m emphatically not a Neocon.

They were not Trotskyist, they were Trendies. They probably also “experimented” with pot. Spoiled rich kid poseurs are worthy of nothing but deep contempt.

  15. CK

Most of the older generation of neocons worked for senator Henry Jackson ( Dem Boeing ). When the scoopster died and the whole national security democrat thing retreated with the outcome of Vietnam, the neocons moved to the republican party. The republicans had pretty much destroyed any intellectual capacity their party had had in the 50’s and 60’s so the neocons with a few changes in wording fit right into the party.
And while I agree with the deep contempt thing, since they do sit in positions of power and are always on the Sunday TV babblefests and the Op Ed pages of the NYT and WAPO and WSJ it behooves one to study them as they do set the limits to acceptable and beyond the pale.
They took over the republicans during reagan bush ( gave the US Iran Contra ) — switched alliegances to Clinton and then back to McCain and them immediately to GWB when he trounced ol collaborator McCain in SC. After 8 years of GWB, the neocons have switched some crew into the Emmanuel white house and left some in the McCain/rethug camp. Not bad for a bunch of poseurs and fakirs.
