ΩΩThe headlines from Al Jazeera show clearly that there is an Arab Revolutionary Freight Train rolling down history’s tracks at full speed. This should surprise no one: the ‘street’ has been suppressed, butchered, abused, imprisoned and mocked for half a century. The US once pretended to be sort of in support of the idea of ‘democracy’ except the idea of the Arabs enjoying this was anathema. That is, they do not like imperialism all that much and like so many other societies, has chosen to turn and fight, whenever possible.
.
ΩΩSince all ‘liberal’ Muslim societies were suppressed by the US and UK in the past, their main ally has been the communists mainly in Russia. Once Russia began a grinding war against first, Afghanistan and then Chechnya, Russian support of Arab socialist democracies has vanished. This has been replaced with either hyper-high-oil pumping socialism or grinding poverty coupled with crushing police state brutality in the poor sectors.
.
ΩΩAs per usual, greed rears its ugly little head and with the end of Soviet support for socialism for the masses of Muslims, the ruling elites thought they could imitate Western leaders. That is, looting one’s own people is a great and wonderful thing. All you need is to spend oodles of money on military machinery and police and the rest is pure gravy for the top echelons.
.
ΩΩThis is the neo-capitalist model: crush workers, destroy wages, deny social services and wreck patriotism while supporting international bankers. Who cares if people starve? The official motto of Davos is, ‘Let’s share the cake with the poor but only after we eat the entire thing including the crumbs’. Or in the older version, ‘Let them eat cake.’
.
ΩΩThe rage this has caused is, of course, muted by the media and governments doing these stupid things. Why listen to the poor when you can shoot them or put them in Gitmo? So we see the very rich being very excited at Davos this week, making more and more ridiculous deals while the entire superstructure of world dominance is collapsing like a house of cards.
.
ΩΩIt is certain that the Council of Foreign Relations mavens are aware of both history (grim revolutions always happen when there are wars and depressions) and the Wikileaks/al Jazeera revelations are rocking the Muslim world leading to the decapitation of despots so….Clinton Ambassador Meeting: Unprecedented Mass Meeting Of Top Envoys
- The top envoys from nearly all of America’s 260 embassies, consulates and other posts in more than 180 countries will be gathering at the State Department beginning on Monday. Officials say it’s the first such global conference.
.
ΩΩWhat are they debating? ‘Let them eat LESS bread,’ seems to be the main gist of what is reeling though the greedy little noggins of the Davos devotees. That is, just like the Jews claimed they would put the Palestinians on a ‘diet’ that is, starve them to death, so it is for the rest of us, all of us. To pay for fixing the banking mess created by the very rich, we are all supposed to do with fewer necessities. The rich in Egypt and Tunisia loved this modern way of running societies. Communism was out and rapine was in. Greed is good, sharing is bad.
.
ΩΩThe US was foremost in declaring ‘greed is good’. It was supposed to be a new morality better than the old communist one. The marketplace would run based on who could get richer, faster rather than ‘Is this good for society and is this bad for our nation?’ The new theology was one whereby the winners could eat all the cakes and the losers get to go to hell in a hand basket. There was one tiny problem with this new world system: the losers won’t go to hell all that easily or perhaps, better still, the hand basket will end up next to the guillotine and the heads of the head masters will occupy it.

ΩΩHere is a Russian TV video of the demonstrators in Egypt who are clamoring for Mubarak’s head:

ΩΩThe entire country from top to bottom was run as a kleptocracy. Everyone had to be bribed all the time. Even as the government falls, this tradition of shaking down people exposed to the government agents continues: First Canadian flight leaves Egypt but ‘shake downs’ rile evacuees – The Globe and Mail
- The flight, carrying 206 passengers, was one of two planes scheduled to depart Monday. Some passengers at the airport were told by an Egyptian official that they would have to collectively pay $2,000 before they were permitted to board a bus that would take them to them to plane, CTV reported.

ΩΩHere is how the police in ‘democratic’ countries deal with pesky peasants: Police use CS gas against protest over tax evasion – Home News, UK – The Independent
- Trouble flared as police arrested a member of the protest group UKUncut on suspicion of criminal damage during a sit-in at Boots on Oxford Street, which closed the shop for four hours. Protesters said the woman was placing leaflets in between the gaps of the store’s doors when she was accused of damaging the building. Dawn Foster, 24, said: “She was asked to follow officers into an alley and when she refused, she was grabbed and pulled around the corner. Then everyone followed police into the alley, chanting: ‘Shame on you.’ An officer sprayed a bunch of people with the gas. They were screaming.”
.
ΩΩThe US and UK are both riddled with tax evaders. These guys use various schemes and systems to not pay any taxes while using our countries as their main source of income. International corporations are the natural outgrowth of free trade. Meanwhile, the countries which once had industries and corporations are stripped of both and end up pure ‘customers’ as we see in the US and UK. Huge trade deficits alongside huge budget deficits are the natural outcome of free trade.
.
ΩΩBoth can be very easily fixed. Tariffs on all imports which then is used to fund the government and taxes on industries and businesses at home which must be here, not there, to do business if they wish to avoid tariffs and barriers. For several hundred years, the strongest empires functioned on these basic principals. Not the present system. No way in holy hell.
.
ΩΩWith a very fearful eye on the home peasant classes, NATO leaders warn the pesky peasants of Egypt to stop being rowdy and cease fighting their dictator: Key European Leaders Urge Restraint in Cairo – NYTimes.com
- The three — Prime Minister David Cameron, President Nicolas Sarkozy of France and Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany — fell short of calling for the resignation of President Hosni Mubarak of Egypt, despite the protests against him on the streets, and cited his modulated approach to the region.
- “We are deeply concerned about the events that we are witnessing in Egypt,” the three leaders wrote in a statement. “We recognize the moderating role President Mubarak has played over many years in the Middle East. We now urge him to show the same moderation in addressing the current situation in Egypt.”
- The statement also called on Mr. Mubarak to avoid “at all costs the use of violence against unarmed civilians and on the demonstrators to exercise their rights peacefully.”
.
ΩΩHAHAHAHA…peaceful demonstrators are always hammered hard by our police and military here! The above story about a woman who put leaflets into a crack in the door at Boots Inc. is typical for our ‘democracy’: she was beaten mercilessly and anyone who dared to yell at the cops were gassed! So how do we moderate ourselves? This means, no real demonstrations, no stopping of traffic, no unauthorized gatherings, no one can congregate in front of Parliament or the Congressional buildings except on holidays and weekends and mostly, only in winter during bad weather. Maybe not even then. Nope. Not then, either.
.
ΩΩI am amazed that the Egyptians burned down the sky scraper used by Mubarak’s party as their home hive! Imagine doing that here. The response would be quite violent and vicious. No, we cannot demonstrate like an Egyptian. And the fear that we might do this is immense. Right now, the hope is, we will stay at home and not be pesky peasants at all. As our rulers merrily loot our nations and destroy our social safety nets. The Tea Party is a delusional organization: it is against social systems but uses this thoughtlessly. When it is destroyed, they will all suddenly become Egyptians and demand more, not less socialism.
.
ΩΩHere is more Obama/Hillary delusional thinking at work: Egypt: U.S. quietly prepares for post-Hosni Mubarak era in Egypt – latimes.com
- A tight-lipped White House is taking an even-handed approach to the crisis in Egypt, suggesting that President Mubarak might be able to hold onto power if he allows competitive elections and restores individual freedoms…Obama is monitoring events through regular briefings with staff and close consultation with regional allies.
- On Saturday, he spoke to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia, and to Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the White House said.
.
ΩΩIf there were real elections, Mubarak would lose. They just had an election! It was a total farce. Much more so than the Iranian election. The US applauded Iranians demonstrating against the ruling elites there. But not in Egypt. There will be no pictures of cute dead ladies with weeping Zionist commentators wailing about what a crime it is to shoot unarmed women! Of course, the IDF does this all the time, children, too. Without batting an eye and none of these victims ever, ever are mentioned by our media mavens who weep for Iranian women all the time. Iranian women should be happy, they are so beloved.
.
ΩΩToo bad, almost all other Muslim women are hated by these same weepy media mavens in the US and UK. Indeed, if a woman slips a leaflet into the door of Boots, she is also beaten and not one weepy media maven will shed one tiny tear.
.
ΩΩThe despots in Israel are knocked kneed furious about the puppet being pulled off the world stage so unceremoniously: Netanyahu urges world to tone down Mubarak criticism amid Egypt unrest. Just what Mubarak needs! The one guy nearly all Muslims hate the most, demanding everyone stop yelling at his good buddy! HAHAHA…this shows clearly how out of touch and scared the Jews are in this business. They cannot understand why things are happening and are desperate to stop the freight train.
.
ΩΩHere are several key headlines: Clinton: US Won’t Support Mubarak’s Ouster but ElBaradei: US ‘Losing Credibility by the Day’ on Egypt while Ex-Officials Urge Obama to Suspend Aid to Egypt. Nearly all non-Zionist State Department staff has been driven out and so it is only the exes who are calling for sanity. The US has blood on its hands if all the military gear and funding comes from us.
.
ΩΩNetanyahu and Obama’s demands that the Egyptians cease contesting for power falls on deaf ears: Opposition calls ‘million man march’ in Cairo tomorrow while Everybody But Mubarak: Muslim Brotherhood Calls for Unity Govt. This is typical of all revolutions: if they can form alliances, the revolution succeeds. ElBaradei’s Stock Rises With Muslim Brotherhood’s Approval: this unity will last exactly how long it takes to drive out the US, UK and Israel. Once this is done, the real infighting will begin. The Muslim Brotherhood has just released hundreds of political prisoners who are going back into their neighborhoods and girding for a very vicious fight which they, hardened by life in prison, are quite capable of doing.
.
ΩΩThat is, they know exactly how to fight…hard. And little scares them. The Brotherhood was controlled by police state tactics but now, that is gone. And just like with anyone raised on hard rations and blows, the survivors are very strong indeed and nearly impossible to intimidate.
.
ΩΩHere is some older news from last week: US ‘Warns’ Palestinians Against Criticizing Settlements at UN — News from Antiwar.com. How insane is this? The Palestinian Authority (sic) is run by that Mubarak assassin clone, Abbas, who cooperated with murder, mayhem and torture and became an extension of Mossad. Naturally, despite fake elections involving arresting anyone running against Abbas, etc, the US and Israel are most anxious to keep him in power since he has no power. But when he tries to make a peep about any of the US/Israeli crimes (the settlements are all totally illegal) then he is ordered to shut up or else…
.
ΩΩThe Palestinians on the West Bank are joining their fellow peasants in Egypt and demonstrating against both Abbas and Mubarak: Egypt latest – Mubarak to new PM: Engage with all political parties – This Just In – CNN.com Blogs
- [Update 3:29 a.m. Cairo, 8:29 p.m. ET] About 20 armed police confronted and ended an anti-Mubarak demonstration Sunday by dozens of people in the West Bank, according to the nonprofit group Human Rights Watch. The security forces pushed the demonstrators away from the Egyptian Embassy, the group alleged in a statement.
.
ΩΩNo US commentator will shed a single tear for the demonstrators being abused on the West Bank. The IDF can even kill US citizens there and no one sheds a tear in any sector or our media. The Palestinians are virtually the definition of ‘being beaten and starved and refusing to surrender.’ The chiefs always surrender because they can be corrupted with bribes. But not the people, themselves. The children, in particular, hate their puppet leaders and long to be Hamas-style freedom fighters.
.
ΩΩThere are more and more Muslim volunteers to fight back using even suicidal methods: Text message blows up suicide bomber by accident
- Islamist terrorists in Russia often use mobile phones as detonators. The bomber’s handler, who is usually watching their charge, sends the bomber a text message in order to set off his or her explosive belt at the moment when it is thought they can inflict maximum casualties…..Security sources believe the New Year’s Eve bomber and the airport bombers may have been members of a suicide squad trained in Pakistan’s al-Qaida strongholds which was sent to target the Russian capital’s transport system.
.
ΩΩThe US is imposing Soviet-style police state protections here thanks to the endless Muslim blow back/blow up tactics. Instead of addressing the problems we and everyone in the West has decided to do is to fight, fight, fight. Well, again: the Muslims seem little interested in surrendering. The real liberalism I think works is one where people get good social services, have increased personal freedoms and of course, the separation of religion and state. How simple is this?

I hope and pray for the safety of the Egyptian people. Egyptian police are infamous for no-holds-barred brutality. Egypt is one of the countries where the US would ship its prisoners to have them beaten, electrocuted, and raped by the Egyptian police, as a means of interrogation. Egypt’s reputation for torture is such that it was the first country chosen by the U.S. for extraordinary rendition (aka outsourced torture).
Egypt’s army is the 10th largest in the world, and the largest in Africa — all of its might paid for by the U.S. Those soldiers are not there simply to project power — far from window-dressing, they provide “the ultimate instrument of political control.” All that military hardware was bought by the U.S. to be used against Egyptians, not to protect Egypt. If the military police fire on the protestors, they will use U.S. bullets. This can hardly endear the U.S. to the Egyptian people.
Once again, the ruling elites of the U.S.contravene the wishes of the U.S. taxpayer, and have chosen instead to prop up a bloody regime, heedless of the price that history suggests will be paid. And things do not look good for peaceful transition. On Friday the Egyptian government shut down BlackBerry and SMS messaging; there are rumors that satellite phones are jammed. The news media is supposedly forbidden from reporting. Journalists are being beaten and shot with rubber bullets. The police have begun mass arrests of Muslim Brotherhood members, and are said to be setting fire to cars for no reason. Ham radio and telephone systems are still in operation, including internationally.
Mona Eltahawy, an Egyptian expatriate journalist, has warned that the media blackout, the dark curtain being drawn around Egypt, is intended to conceal a massacre.
Bloodshed to protect a despotic regime is the last thing the U.S. taxpayers want done in our name. If it happens, we will be paying the price for years to come.
All governments / ruling elite want things to stay the way they are, always. So when there is a change produced from down below; they are v. fearful. Then they try to get in the act; and take over whatever groups/leadership emerges, and often have pre positioned puppets ready to go… like a Ramen noodle meal; just add hot water and presto chango… we have a “leader” that emerges .. with mysterious backup from “outside sources”… always the same game.
The best way to manage a revolution is to have your people on all sides! MI6 and the CIA and Mossad are experts at this; except sometimes their plans go into the dumpster if there is a “wild card” thrown into the mix. Maybe that might be a Russian or Chinese??? or French or ?? assistance. The US/UK are not the only ones who can play games.
The real war now, the currency war is between the US/UK and China, and as in Sudan its about oil/resources. Is China going to just let events unfold? I wonder what they know about the real events and who is backing whom?? Now that would be interesting to see. Maybe the big 260 US ambassador meeting Clinton called has “something” to do with the wave of unrest.. its apparently unprecedented to have the all in DC. Something v. big is up.
The US elite are prepared for an internal domestic conflict. Emergency centers, intelligence collecting centers, coffins, foodstuff, and private mercs like Blackwater to do the nasty if the military flinches when given orders to shoot civilians.
They have learned and adapted strategy from all their experimental conflicts around the globe the last 15 years. When the shite hits the fan it will be down and dirty.

Re: .. The real liberalism I think works is one where people get good social services, have increased personal freedoms and of course, the separation of religion and state. How simple is this?
I agree: How True.
We get the increasingly futile complicated propaganda and reasoning from the US Empire to hide your simple truth.
All the basis on which the US Empire was able to dominate our world is crumbling because the centre is rotten and the oil fueling its civilization has depleted earth’s Gaia.
The ravenous need western industrial civilization for increasing resources and markets is the basis for past colonial empires.
After WWII the colonial empires invented new instruments to achieve the same objective.
US and western multinationals now gained new markets and resources thru financial, media and military domination softened by hypocritical imposition of arbitrary values and socio-political models run by third world tyrants and compradors.
Our rotten political, bureaucratic and civic society systems have rotted and become intellectually bankrupt just as the former empires of Rome, China and Islam etc did.
The rise of modern Asian nations states such Japan and China, Latin American Brazil and Venezuela etc, Russia in the Eurasian landmass etc provided a new alternative model that slowly starved the US Empire.
The US ruling elite (mind control parasites) lost its beacon lit by its founding fathers and started to eat its own and the young.
Rotting ruling elite created the insane incentives motivating Washington and Wall Street to destroy US society aided by the military-security-industrial complexes, health insurance industries etc to suck dry its vitality and wealth in the false name of “Freedom”.
The promise of US so well defined by Alexis de Tocqueville was desecrated.
The mind control parasites everywhere cannot accept Elaine’s “Simple Truth Solutions” and therefore destined to act like Mubarak worldwide and on its own people.
Why is that?
Mind control parasites are a creature of privilege cannot survive in a world where “Simple Truth Solutions” prevail.
Recent TV appearances by Obama on SOU, Hillary Clinton’s empirical diktats to Mubarak and the Egyptian people, Bernanke’s rationale for QEII and Joe Biden describing Mubarak as a “good guy” reveal their lie and delusional idiocy.
All our societies will face its own moment of truth and be forced to change for better or worse because global politically aware masses will no longer accept socio-economic terms benefiting the few privileged.
Gaia and limited resources also force us to create and live in a new society and civilization or perish.
GFC and mass class movements in Europe and Middle East and the rise of China as well as a depleted Gaia synergize events that is, to use an Aussie colloquialism “Bigger than Ben Hur”.
Old structures of power will adapt or disappear.
Elaine’s mythology is the appropriate tool to describe events unraveling today.
@ Aussie: Suggest you watch Zeitgeist Moving Forward. (http://tinyurl.com/5swbwzz)

I agree, never going to happen.
Despite talk about “American distrust of govt.”, Americans are in many ways among the most trusting of govt..
This goes back to this myth of ‘govt. of the people by the people” which convinces many Americans that somehow to oppose the State is to be anti-American and anti-Americans.

@ nah: Brother, it’s always been that way. Difference is now the people realize they have been cooked in their own lard all this time. Question is, what are they “the people, for the people, by the people” going to do? There are really only one of two choices. 1. put up 2. shut up!
History tells us that Americans have limited conscience when sent to bomb, pillage and rape other countries, in the name of “Flag and Republic” as you put it, but, that is a two way street. Ask the Egyptians and the Tunisians, Greeks, French and so on.
You just have to realize and understand once and for all that the guys sticking it to you are NOT AMERICAN! Then you can go screw them as you have been everyone else. Pardon my French.

Ha, ha, may all the Barbary thieves and ME tyrannts fall. Meanwhile MSM describing tens of thousands of Egyptians protesting — more like millions!!! Asking Mubarak to assure reforms and guarantee new elections ….8 months from now! wtf? Mubarak stopping trains, shutting internet, banks. Water and electricity is ???
Reforms from Mubarak, ya right they’re coming?!?
For US, Denial is a river in Egypt.
Tell me again why the world would continue to want commodities denominated in $ — surest way to hell, riots and chaos. Meanwhile, US markets are soaring (again) with lock limits up on commodity prices.
Elaine, don’t pretend like the elite do not like chaos. THEY LOVE CHAOS. They worship chaos ffs. Out of chaos will arise order. Their wanted order.
All hail wikileaks bringing chaos all over the planet! Wikileaks: the prelude to WWIII. Hail wikileaks!
ΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩ
ELAINE: Why on earth would they want disorder when they are the New World Order? Sheesh. You are crazy, man. If I ran something, the last thing I would want is social and economic disorders.
Once again, Wu Wei is off the mark. If the elites like chaos, why do they meet in secret places in the alps? Why not meet in downtown New York? Or in Cairo?
The elites like chaos if it is far away, among their enemies, and under their control. Any other kind of chaos (i.e. “real” chaos) is not liked or wanted by them as it interfers with their yacht outings and golf trips. Just ask the former head of BP Oil.
On another note, I often wonder who would lead a revolution here in America. When I go to the mall and sit in the food court while my wife shops, I do not see a single teenager or young person capable of going a day without food or marching more than a mile — if that. So, who will fight our revolution?
I predict the illegal immigrants will fight to cleave off the southwest to Mexico and the rest of the country will be terrorized by foreign mercenaries brought in to do the job.
Look at the Egyptians in the photos. They are quite trim and fit. Perhaps they have been on a “diet”. Who knows? It doesn’t matter. They are physically able to fight under extreme adversity. All they need are weapons. I think they will soon get them after Mubarak massacres a couple thousand people with US weapons and our blessing.

I wonder, are we going to have a year without a summer?
Environmental disaster usually brings our man made messes to a head. If crops fail world wide due to volcanic eruptions spewing dust into the air, rioting will happen sooner than we think…everywhere.
I have been busy like crazy, shoveling and snowplowing. This is one of the snowiest winters I have seen in a decade +.
Also, my ex-husband nearly died this last week and is still in the hospital and I spend several hours a day, dealing with this, taking care of him.
The thing here is, we have endless stuff going on.
Good luck to Mr. Levy. You do have a big heart.
I was just watching Al Jazeera live.
There is something strangely emotionally moving about revolutions.
They sent in the policemen posing as Mubarak supporters on horse- and camelback.
And then all the horses ran back without riders…
Something very moving and touching about that scene.
I am ashamed to say my mother went on a Mediteranean tour and part of it included Egypt. I was floored when she told me. I could not beleive she would visit a dictatorship, but then she believes in nothing but herself.
Anyway, she volunteered to ride a camel and she has a photo of herself on the camel outside the pyramids. She is very proud of it. Maybe everyone else on the bus who said “no” understood that they were symbols of oppression. (I would like to think that, but they were probably just scared.) Mom’s camel was used to beat protesters and trample people last night.
Kind of ironic. If only the revolution had happened two years ago…
