Japan Gets Annual New Leaders Who Can’t Lead Anyone, Anywhere

doserate-ground-18junejg.jpg 1,061×1,468 pixels

Insidiously and rapidly, Fukushima is poisoning a big part of eastern Japan.  All the way to Tokyo, the poison silently spreads while the officials at the top of society’s pyramid there continue to be in shocking denial.  All we know from their perspective is, no one wants to be a leader of Japan because no one at the top has the faintest idea, how to save Japan from its own leaders.  This is very much like the US except we still have people anxious to be at the top so they can give out goodies to the very rich and powerful lobbying groups.  But Japan is rapidly being stripped bare of nearly everything a society needs to survive as a nation.  This is due to an inability to tax the powerful corporations which used Japan as an export base.

Contrary to what we are being told here in the US, exporting one’s way to prosperity while cutting taxes collected from the rich is not going to work and ZIRP borrowing won’t work.  The Japanese model is very much broken and what broke it was not the good people of Japan who try their best to struggle on and onwards despite a near total lack of concern at the top, if they even survive.  No, the Japanese model breaks down when it permits government overspending compared to tax revenues due to not taxing rich corporations.

Today, I see Congress people back at hard work, with the assistance of the US media giants, trying desperately to convince us that if we don’t tax international corporations at all, we will all have jobs and the government will be solvent.  This is idiotic in the extreme.  All we have to do is look over the Pacific to Japan to see that this insane ideology leads to social and political collapse and perhaps, the total destruction of an entire country on the most elemental levels.

Japan’s government has collapsed, yet again, and nothing changes because nothing can change and one drone is replaced with another corporate-sponsored drone and they can’t give simple speeches or anything political, all they know is how to bow to the industrial giants and beg them to tell them what to do next.  Here is a pointless article in Japan that wonders why Japanese politicians don’t have any charisma:  Japanese politicians lack the ‘super-natural power..The Mainichi Daily News

Over less than five years, three leaders of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and two heads of the Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ) including Kan used up their mana and resigned only about a year after they took office…They (candidates from both parties) are rather desperately struggling to gain support from as many party members as possible under mana released by other influential members who are not running in the race. Their insight and ability to govern appear lacking.

The article goes on and on and says absolutely nothing useful.  No analysis of why faceless drones replace one and another at an increasing speed as they get literally shoved into the top slot and then flee as soon as possible.  There is never, ever any analysis in Japanese news about why Japan runs the world’s highest government spending deficit vis a vis the GDP and the second biggest, in total (the US is only one that is bigger and China’s pubic debt is extremely tiny in comparison).  There is no debates there about taxing the giant global corporations that are running Japan straight into the ground.  There is only hysterical talk about weakening the yen and increasing exports by these careless, cruel giant corporations that are bankrupting Japan!

Next PM Noda Holds Phone Talks With US Geithner

Japan’s prime minister-elect Yoshihiko Noda said Wednesday he held a telephone conversation with U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner earlier in the day, but the two officials did not discuss foreign exchange issues.  “We didn’t talk about those practical matters,” Noda told reporters when asked whether the yen’s persistent strength or currency market intervention were topics of discussion.

All the reporters wanted to know was, will the yen be made weaker so Japan can continue to decimate the US economy and run one-way trade!  They all know, this has to continue forever since no one at the top wishes to change anything at all despite all the sharp warning signs telling them to change their policies, change direction and stop this madness.  The real rulers of Japan want more one-way trade with the US.

The horror here is, the US top officials, equally corrupt, equally detached from reality and utterly incapable of understanding how they are killing the USA, conspire with the Japanese rulers to make unbalanced and unfair trade continue!  As if the US can run immense trade deficits for all eternity which is insane as well as impossible.  Of course, the internationalists don’t care if the US goes bankrupt, they feel they can detach our military from our nation and use us to fund global attack forces that hire US mercenaries while forcing the peasant population to pay for all of this via IOUs instead of very high taxes on the very rich.

This is what ZIRP loans are all about: the rich evading paying taxes to support a government that they own, lock, stock and barrel!

On top of everything, the poisoning of significant parts of Japan continues and the government’s denials that this is a hideous nightmare that won’t end soon or in our lifetimes:  NISA Mentions “Neptunium-239” in August 29 Press Conference | EX-SKF is an example of a typical day’s headlines from Japan.  Neptunium is interesting to me since it is named after a distant planet that is a cold gas giant.  It is also a fast-decaying radioactive agent which means it is very destructive when it enters living things.

Thanks to rain, radiation is filtering in and collecting in all sorts of places such as the Schools in Tokyo which have been forced to ban use of playground sandboxes over radiation fears – The Mainichi Daily News

A number of schools in Tokyo are banning the use of playground sandboxes or replacing their sand due to radiation fears even though the capital is more than 200 kilometers away from the crippled Fukushima No. 1 Nuclear Power Plant.

While there is no government-set standard over the radiation levels in sandboxes, there are reports that levels of radiation exceeding standards set voluntarily by local municipalities have been detected in sandboxes at schools in Tokyo. Local governments and school officials are intensifying their calls on the central government to draw up a safety standard at an early date.

See how the government is sleepwalking?  Calls come in demanding some standards based on science and no one answers at the top.  Radiation is definitely poisoning children in Tokyo and the vast bulk of Japan has shifted relentlessly into this one major metropolitan center.  The government top officials have no incentive to set safe radiation standards for this means telling parents in Tokyo, their children will have a potential lifetime of serious health problems.

When the US and Russia polluted the entire planet with nuclear test radiation, we had this ongoing cancer epidemic which got a huge boost thanks to first, Chernobyl and now, Fukushima.  Just as 30 years finally passed since the last open-air nuclear bomb test by Russia and America and the cancer effects would begin to taper off, we get yet another disaster that boosts it again.

New Data Supports Previous Fairewinds Analysis, as Contamination Spreads in Japan and Worldwide on Vimeo

Newly released neutron data from three University of California San Diego scientists confirms Fairewinds’ April analysis that the nuclear core at Fukushima Daiichi turned on and off after TEPCO claimed its reactors had been shutdown. This periodic nuclear chain reaction (inadvertent criticality) continued to contaminate the surrounding environment and upper atmosphere with large doses of radioactivity.

In a second area of concern, Fairewinds disagrees the NRC’s latest report claiming that all Fukushima spent fuel pools had no problems following the earthquake. In a new revelation, the NRC claims that the plutonium found more than 1 mile offsite actually came from inside the nuclear reactors. If such a statement were true, it indicates that the nuclear power plant containments failed and were breached with debris landing far from the power plants themselves. Such a failure of the containment system certainly necessitates a complete review of all US reactor containment design and industry assurances that containments will hold in radioactivity in the event of a nuclear accident. The evidence Fairewinds reviewed to date continues to support its April analysis that the detonation in the Unit 3 Spent Fuel pool was the cause of plutonium found off site.

Back when the explosions first happened, I surmised, based on what data I could find, that the inner workings of the reactors blew up and now it is absolutely certain!  Well, this isn’t good news, yet the NRC tried desperately to make it look good.  There is zero good news coming out of Fukushima.  It is all uniformly bad news so the best way to deal with this at the top of Japan’s insane pyramid of power is…denial of reality.

First, there is now a map drawn up by scientists so the government has a good idea how totally wrecked the landscape really is around Fukushima’s continuing disaster area:  34 points near Fukushima plant exceed radiation standard used for Chernobyl, map shows – The Mainichi Daily News

A government map of soil radiation levels mainly within a 100-kilometer radius of the disaster-hit Fukushima No. 1 Nuclear Power Plant shows 34 locations with levels of cesium-137 exceeding 1.48 million becquerels per square meter, the level that was used for determining bans on living near the Chernobyl plant.

The map was released on Aug. 29 by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT). Cesium-137 has a half-life of around 30 years. The greatest concentration was found in the town of Okuma, which holds part of the plant, at 15.45 million becquerels per square meter. The six municipalities with levels over the Chernobyl level are Okuma, Minamisoma, Tomioka, Futaba, Namie, and Iitate.

All the chatter from the rulers about how Fukushima was one thousand times less than Chernobyl now lies in a deep grave.  Not that anyone who made these OBVIOUSLY ridiculous claims back in March, are embarrassed enough to commit suicide on TV like despondent officials used to do many years ago.  No, they just roll on and on and on, shrugging off responsibility and ignoring reality.  The bans on going home for these poor communities is basically…FOREVER.

We can’t imagine when anyone can return, it is so long in time.  At Chernobyl, radiation still sets meters off, chattering at a tremendous speed.  It hasn’t gotten better.  It hasn’t gone away and worse, the dragon inside sarcophagus  is very much alive and very much munching away at the prison walls, seeking to escape.  It continues to menace not only Ukraine and all of Europe but all of the world, too.

The government passively let cities burn wastes even as these wastes are increasingly radioactive which is why the radiation poison is rapidly spreading:  Above-limit cesium found at incinerators in 7 prefectures – The Mainichi Daily News

Incinerator dust and ash with too much radioactive cesium to allow it to be buried has been found at 42 facilities in Tokyo, Chiba, Iwate and three other prefectures as well as Fukushima, the Environment Ministry said Saturday.

The result of a survey of 469 facilities in 16 prefectures in northeastern and eastern Japan since late June was reported as a panel of experts at the ministry considers how to allow dust and ash containing over 8,000 becquerels of cesium per kilogram to be buried.

The government has already decided to allow dust and ash containing 8,000 becquerels or less of cesium to be buried in waste disposal sites only if residential houses are not built there in the future.

Jaw dropping!  What?  So, they will continue to burn this stuff (with radioactive smoke!) and then dump it where it becomes part of the landscape and then hope no one ever lives there again?  This is total insanity.  It shows a fundamental inability to think about the future.  What future?  Japan’s leaders not only don’t have ‘supernatural powers’ they don’t have any imagination and power is in the hands of faceless others who avoid the public spotlight and whose eyes are overseas, not on Japan.

And here is a classic example of government and corporate insanity:  Nuclear plant worker dies of acute leukemia – The Mainichi Daily News

Tokyo Electric said the worker’s death is not linked with his work at the plant, citing results of medical examination by doctors.

The man had been exposed to 0.5 millisievert of radiation at the plant and showed no internal exposure to radiation, said the power company, known as TEPCO.

The dosage is much smaller than 5 millisieverts or higher per year — the benchmark for recognizing a death as work-related — TEPCO said, citing the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare’s criteria on work-related deaths. The ministry’s criteria also put the incubation period to develop symptoms of acute leukemia at one year.

TEPCO said the man had been involved with duties on radiation control at the plant for a week starting in early August. He later complained of poor health and underwent medical checkups before his death.

Good lord!  The man was not sick with leukemia before now and then suddenly dies of it after working at Fukushima.  He worked for ONE WEEK this month and died.  They are assuming that leukemia takes a long time UNDER  NORMAL CONDITIONS therefore, he couldn’t have seen his white blood cell condition deteriorate due to the radiation, it had to be something else.

This is ridiculous.  Like with children being told, it is natural to have leukemia during the years that bomb tests were destroying the bodies of these children, so it is here: the nuclear industry is notorious for being in denial, open lying, a refusal to look deep into the future and wild thinking about the benefits of all of this hideous mess.  Whatever good comes from nuclear bombs and nuclear power are negated by the evils these bring and the evils are immense, I would suggest, immeasurable in the long run.  Maybe even totally fatal for all humanity.

I wonder if the worker was one of the many nuclear gypsies who move from plant to plant hiding their real exposures so they can earn a few yen to buy some radioactive rice before sleeping in the ditch somewhere.
You are right,Japan will just get more and more contaminated.
None of this news is showing up in the MSM,according to the cheerleaders,Japan is on the road to recovery.

Hey, been reading your stuff for a while now. Still not sure what to make of it all (or you for that matter), but at least its interesting reading.

“China’s public debt is extremely tiny in comparison [to Japan and the US]”

It’s true that China ADMITS to a tiny debt-to-GDP ratio (17 percent at the end of last year) — but the official ratio may be misleading, according to recent analysis reported in The Daily Beast:

“Beijing-based Dragonomics, a well-respected consultancy, put China’s ratio at 89 percent—about the same as America’s. Worse still, a growing number of analysts think the Chinese ratio was really 160 percent. At that astronomical level, China looks worse than Greece.”

According to the analysis, off-the-books obligations incurred by China’s local governments and state banks — municipal and local projects, Ministry of Finance guarantees related to partial bank recapitalizations, grain-subsidy payments, etc. — are causing the discrepency.

More ominously, the carry trade has now come to China and contributes to the unsustainable debt picture there. While official lending has been severely restricted by China’s central bank to tamp down inflation, capital-starved businesses turned to the underground loan shark economy where they pay as much as 10% a month interest.

Overseas ‘partner’ companies acting unofficially as hedge funds are fueling China’s underground loan shark economy. They include US Fortune 500 and multinational companies shifting their labor forces to China in an attempt to arbitrage labor costs. Now the insane returns available from loan sharking has created another form of arbitrage — speculative currency arbitrage from the internal carry trade — based on profiting from the difference between money loaned at PBOC’s official low interest rates given to a few favored customers, and the loan shark rates paid by everybody else.

Since most businesses can’t grow paying 120 percent annual interest, a lot of the borrowing went into real estate speculation to boost returns. Now China’s infrastructure is overbuilt, whole towns standing empty, an enormous sunk cost that will take decades to recover, if ever.

The cycle comes full circle when the insane and rising cost of money in China pushes labor costs there up, up and away. In the meantime, an economic crash, the misery of job displacement, and capital flight to giddy new speculative schemes — untaxed, of course.

Leaving the worker and taxpayer holding the bag, as usual, paying for the corrupt and pleasant fictions of having a “low debt ratio,” “9% growth economy” (in perpetuity, of course!), and “clean” nuclear energy.

These insane official/corporate/government lies have to stop. Before they kill us all.

I said I wasn’t gonna come back here again, but since we are about to be bombarded with 10th anniversary 9/11 BS, and every reader here is accustomed to lengthy, intelligent reading, I must post this, and yes, I do know it’s off-topic: http://12160.info/profiles/blogs/last-man-out-makes-shocking-9-11-disclosure:

They have Libya, the poor Libyans dying and nobody in the West crying against this war. Why? Have they finally managed to get us sheepies to quiesce?

Maestra when you going to do a detail analysis about the situation in Libya?

  6. Clueless

@ Elaine: I respect your opinion and analysis in most matters but when it comes to China you are for lack of a better word, naive. Do not forget China is one of the least transparent regimes in the world. This very much applies to their economic numbers and indicators. Their “off book” debt is not what they say, it is staggering. It’s not the Art of War they are practicing but the Art of Window Dressing. But don’t take my word for it.

“China claims its debt-to-GDP ratio—the standard measure of sustainability—was a healthy 17 percent at the end of last year. Yet Beijing-based Dragonomics, a well-respected consultancy, put China’s ratio at 89 percent—about the same as America’s. Worse still, a growing number of analysts think the Chinese ratio was really 160 percent. At that astronomical level, China looks worse than Greece.” (http://tinyurl.com/3qnekev)

On August 18 the world entered the Fifth Night of the Mayan calendar Ninth Wave, traditionally interpreted as a time of destruction.

All around us, we see institutions toppling: the destruction of popular faith in political and economic institutions, which are now being exposed as outright con games. Fukushima, government of, by and for The People, social programs held hostage by the Tea Party or IMF-imposed austerity, the ongoing Arab Spring — those were just the start.

We see the mass media being exposed as cheap propagandist shills, tools for spreading comforting lies … “safe” nuclear power, the need to funnel our economic lifeblood through enormous banks (“else the economy won’t run”), the invasion of Libya on the pretext of “saving” its people.

We see debt piled to unsustainable levels, dumped all over families, properties, and legitimate Main Street businesses so that everyone but the speculators chokes on it.

We see volcanoes and earthquakes, starting at the beginning of the Ninth Wave with Fukushima, continuing with the DC/Virginia tremor as we entered the 5th Night and into it as Irene spreads massive floods and dislocation.

Destruction is necessary to clear the way for a more wholesome and productive way of being. The goal of the Ninth Wave is unity consciousness. In the weeks ahead, we will witness more such cleansings. So say the prophecies of many peoples. This is a time for cleansing our own lives of dead matter and unwholesome ways of thinking, perceiving and being.

The Ninth Wave culminates with 13 Ahau on October 28, 2011 (a date which the Mayans wrote as … which ushers in ??? … a new age … up to us to raise our vibrations …

Yeah, the Europeans are showing their true colors again. Ever wonder why so many people left for America? This is why.

When I lived in Europe in the mid-80’s, it seemed like a cultural paradise compared to America, but now it will devolve into an ethnic hellhole as each country tries to grab whatever is left of whatever.

For all his shortcomings, Khaddaffi at least was not on the CIA payroll for most of his life. There are not too many dictators who can say that.
