US Voters Fret About Loss Of Power While US Elites Boast About Power

The US, an immigrant nation, has always had a problem with self-regard: we make up for our deficiencies by being boastful.  One of the worst aspects of this has been how we held ourselves as the perfect model for humanity while being anything but that.  Just as insecure Romans boasted about all roads going to Rome while ignoring the fact that all roads led the Vandals to Rome, the US insecurity drives us into lecturing the world about finances, economic systems, civil rights and ethnic cleansing while at the same time, we support the very policies we denounce!

.

This is beyond silly, it is self-destructive. Any delusional system is self-destructive, by definition.  Some delusions give us some comforts (religions) but their own bizarre constructs leads them to be destructive and very uncomfortable!  Deceiving others is what evolution strives for but deceiving oneself is a bad evolutionary choice.

.

Why humans have thrived while doing this is one of the mysteries of nature.  I puzzle about this all the time.  Humans are very devoted to self-delusional thinking, I believe it is deeply embedded in our brains and is part of our hard wiring.  Everyone thinks they are what they aren’t and everyone thinks the Emperor has no clothes while the real point is, everyone is naked to the cynical eye.

.

The messes we see across the richest countries on earth are not accidental.  They are due to delusional policies pursued in the teeth of obvious dangers that anyone who isn’t delusional can easily detect.  I often write about this.  For example, the simplest tool to discover when a system is heading towards danger is the ‘hockey stick graph.’

.

Any system of any sort in any kind of environment or cosmological situation always does the same thing when systems continue to double in size to infinity: they blow up or collapse to zero.  This is a law of nature, one that is as finite as the law of gravity or the law of entropy, the laws determining random chance, etc.  There is no way in heaven or hell to evade the sudden and total termination of any system that suddenly shoots to infinity.

.

I am puzzled as to why this isn’t taught in schools.  This should be the most important lesson children should learn.  Alas, religions hate this law of nature and wish that infinity could exist forever and they would be part of it.  So, there is terrific emotional resistance, due to a human desire to exist forever, that forbids us from learning the truth about infinity and zero, the Twin Sister Goddesses who we both love and hate.  That is, we want infinity and hate zero.

.

The history of zero is interesting.  It didn’t exist as a mathematical concept until philosophers meditating on the subject of infinity created it to balance the yin/yang of infinity.  Infinity was light and zero was darkness.  Then, the utility of using zeros was used more and more by governments and business and finally wend its way to Europe after the Dark Ages when Venice began doing heavy business with the East.

.

Our entire scientific system depends on this invention!  The ability to use paper money depends on it, too.  Adding zeros is ridiculously easy.  It makes things grow…to infinity, fast.

.

Back to today’s topic, the US frets about losing power and so many article show up, talking about this.  None of these mention the fact that ALL US economic systems have been set up to run in the red for the last 35 years.  Here is yesterday’s article from the NYT about this topic de jure:  Decline of American Exceptionalism.  Here is my reply, which the Times published:

.

100 years ago, Americans had a much better diet than any people on earth, or rather, North American people had this meat-heavy diet as well as other bounty of nature. North America had vast, open lands once the natives were cleared out, lands that were virtually never farmed densely at any time, virgin forests and virgin fields.

.

.Europeans and Asians were much smaller. They came here in droves and their children and grandchildren also became as tall as North Americans. We literally strode as giants in the rest of the world. Now, the rest of the industrialized world has the same access to what we ate in the past. They are growing bigger every generation, too.

.

.On the other hand, the US population has grown to its physical genetic limit and now is growing fatter, not taller. This physically slows us down while more nimble people run literal circles around us. This is affecting everything we do as we move slower and grow physically weaker. Huffing and puffing, we can’t catch up. We are now literally, lumbering dinosaurs on the world stage.

.

.This has happened to cultures in the past: ancient Rome springs to mind. The slaves and barbarians were slim and hungry but the Romans went from being tall and strong to weak and fat. The rulers or Rome became indolent and the city people, interested in taking baths and eating all day long. The peasants of Egypt fed them and the slaves in France fed them and the Romans became these fat little geese waiting to be eaten, themselves.

..This is something we occasionally fret about. Remember when Obama’s lovely wife suggested we stop turning our children into fat little geese? GOP candidates Palin sneeringly showed up with a huge pile of cookies, snarling that the Obamas were going to starve our children (this, from the party that hates feeding the poor via food stamps)!

.

The barbarian invasions of ancient Rome were very much mass ethnic cleansing operations in the Northern sectors and say, Britain.  In the Southern half, the Roman population was greatly reduced.  The die-off was amazing.  Rome, a city of over a million, became a ghost town in comparison to before.

.

All Roman cities shrank to one tenth their original size.  WWII did this, partially, to Europe. The Nazi game was to eliminate entire populations in a massive ethnic cleansing surge.  The US supports this in places like Israel, helping and paying European Jews to invade, displace and remove the natives there, for example.

.

The US did this to the natives here, the Indians were killed by European diseases they had no genetic power to resist, warfare and the relentless push of Iron Age Europeans operating against a Stone Age or Copper Age people.  Neolithic African farmers were kidnapped by Iron Age people and turned forcibly into slaves to farm much of the lands of displaced, free Indians.

.

Frankly, the history of the US isn’t all that nice.  Indeed, a good hunk of it is quite ugly and the US Revolution did absolutely nothing to fix this, frankly, it made it all even worse!  Slavery was protected by the Constitution and the voting rights of slave owners was expanded greatly by counting slaves as 3/5th humans so the slave owners would have more heft in Congress (voting power determined by population).

.

Here is another story from yesterday about our seeming plunge from power:  The myth of America’s decline – CNN.com

.Meanwhile, America is the best at being America, because America is the closest thing to a society that unambivalently enjoys being American. The United States has cultural and demographic traits that remain unique — for better and worse…

.

America was the key force in popping open the Pandoran box of commercial and cultural globalization, with all the attendant anxieties and unintended consequences. But the globalization game is an inherently American game, and it will take a great deal of luck, strategy and determination for someone else to play the game better than Americans are able to play it.

.

I say, this editorial has to go down as one of the most delusional editorials ever penned.  But then, there is severe competition in this field!  How idiotic is it to declare that Americans are best at being Americans?  How insane is this? Duh!  Russians aren’t better Americans than Americans!  But the scary part, to my mind, aside from this mindless declaration, is the part about free trade.

.

Yes, the US created the globalization monster.  Or rather, the ruling elites imposed this on us.  It was fought, tooth and nail, by many people who foresaw, correctly, how this would undermine US wages and make workers poorer and the rich internationalist bankers, richer.

.

The foolish part here is the utterly insane declaration that the US plays the globalization game better than anyone else.  Um, the Chinese play it better than anyone else.  The US lost every round with Germany, Japan, China and OPEC.

.

Hell, the US lost every round with EVERYONE.  No nation on earth runs deeper in the red in trade than the US.  The US has the least sovereign wealth and the most sovereign debt of any nation on earth, by far, by a billion miles.

.

How on earth can anyone be blind about this?  Oh, our media owners want us to be blind which is why all the articles fretting about US hubristic powers ignore the trade deficit.

.

Back in DC, the Supercommittee likely to admit defeat on debt deal – The Washington Post

.

Time is also running out for doctors who see Medicare patients. These physicians are scheduled to absorb a 30 percent cut in government reimbursements in January. A long list of tax breaks, including an inflation adjustment that protects more than 30 million families from paying the alternative minimum tax, also will be eliminated unless Congress acts.

.

The elderly who think they still have Medicare will suddenly find that doctors will not see them and hospitals will give them very poor care.  The destruction of the oldster class of Americans will be nasty, ugly and prolonged for the next 100 years until there is either an uprising or our government hands itself over to foreign powers.

.

The payroll tax ‘holiday’ for Social Security was a dangerous deal designed to put a bullet into the heart of SS:

.

In addition to adding more than $100 billion to budget deficits, the tax cut would reduce Social Security’s dedicated financing stream, making the program dependent on congressional appropriations at a critical moment.

.

Basically, the government is refusing to pick up SS taxes.  So it is being killed slowly by being defunded…all of this after the multi-trillion SS ‘Trust Fund’ set up by Reagan has been thoroughly looted by government military overspending and tax cuts for the rich.

.

The Egyptian Spring is turning into an Islamic winter, as I predicted last spring as Islamists Lead Massive Protest in Tahrir Square  which I predicted last spring.  The Egyptian military has ruled that poor nation since Nasser’s day.  This military dictatorship has spanned several assassinated/deposed leaders but the Egyptians can do nothing about this since they don’t pay for their military: it is an occupied country with their ‘protectors’ mercenaries hired by NATO.

.

Here is an editorial that notices this:  Crackdown in Cairo, excuses in Washington – Salon.com

.

The U.S. government shrugs off these abuses, attributing them to the SCAF’s inexperience. At a Nov. 3 press conference in Washington, U.S. Ambassador for Middle East Transition William Taylor asserted that military abuse can be attributed to the fact that the military is unaccustomed to governing and may be overwhelmed. “[Governing] is not what the Egyptian military is trained to do,” explained Taylor.

.…Leahy’s bill would require the secretary of state to certify Egypt has held free elections and is promoting human rights and freedom of the press in order to transfer the $ 1.3 billion in aid. The liberal Democrat insists that establishing fundamental conditions for the aid is necessary to ensure the openness of the parliamentary elections and the long-term viability of Egypt’s democratic transition.

.…The State Department disagrees. A week after Leahy’s bill moved out of committee in late September, Secretary Clinton cautioned against altering the current aid scheme at a press conference here in Cairo:

..

HAHAHA.  The military, that has ruthlessly ruled Egypt for most of my life, isn’t trained to govern!  HAHAHA.  Time to get rid of them, then!  And who, exactly, is ‘trained to govern’ any nation?  The Trilateral Commission?  Goldman Sachs???  From the Salon editorial:

.

For example, Articles 9 and 10 of the constitutional principles declare the military the “protector of constitutional legitimacy” and mandate that the military budget be placed outside of civilian control.

.

So, even if the military is deposed, Egypt has no control over the finances in that area?  Um, this is the definition of ‘colonial powers’.  The nation has no power, foreign powers that pay the military have all the power.

.

Back to our own Occupy Wall Street Nation:  Crisis of generations – younger Americans moving back home in large numbers. Student loan default rates surging largely due to for-profit college expansion.

The young and the broke – 37 percent of young households held zero or a negative net worth in 2009. The median net worth of those 35 and younger is $3,600.

The glory of debt spending and casino financial markets. What is the typical income, tax situation, and household income for Americans? Americans claiming student loan deduction surges from 4 million to 10 million in roughly one decade. According to IRS AGI needs to be above $1 million to qualify for top one percent.

Crossing the student debt point of no return – for-profit colleges have default rates now rivaling subprime mortgage debt. $1 trillion in student loan debt on the horizon while college graduate wages fall for the decade.

.

And here is an English story about Goldman Sachs and how they have had an economic coup and taken over entire EU governments as well as banking systems:  What price the new democracy? Goldman Sachs conquers Europe – Business Analysis & Features – Business – The Independent

“My former colleagues at the IMF are running around trying to justify bailouts of €1.5trn-€4trn, but what does that mean?” says Simon Johnson. “It means bailing out the creditors 100 per cent. It is another bank bailout, like in 2008: The mechanism is different, in that this is happening at the sovereign level not the bank level, but the rationale is the same.”

..So certain is the financial elite that the banks will be bailed out, that some are placing bet-the-company wagers on just such an outcome. Jon Corzine, a former chief executive of Goldman Sachs, returned to Wall Street last year after almost a decade in politics and took control of a historic firm called MF Global. He placed a $6bn bet with the firm’s money that Italian government bonds will not default.

.

.When the bet was revealed last month, clients and trading partners decided it was too risky to do business with MF Global and the firm collapsed within days. It was one of the ten biggest bankruptcies in US history.

.

MF Global was an offshore gambling operation with the protection of the Corporation of the City of London which, like the Egyptian military, is outside of the control of Parliament, for example.  People stupidly playing the GLD ETF OTC trading game were ripped off by the former governor of New Jersey.

.

Now, talk about delusional: New Jersey, like NYC and Chicago, is a hot bed of political corruption due to the money games going on in these places!  Frequently, government elected officials are found to be criminals.  Corzine is one of the Goldman Sachs crooks.  He is Italian and wanted to control Italy via buying Italian debts.

.

The decline in US financial and trade power is finally beginning to put the brakes on infinite expansion of US military bases and missiles:  US Budget Woes Could Hit European Missile Defense – From the Wires – Salon.com

.

While it is not known what military spending would be cut, an expensive program aimed primarily at defending Europe is unlikely to be spared.

.

The U.S. sees the missile defense system, aimed at countering a threat from Iran, as part of its contribution to the NATO military alliance. With the United States complaining it makes a disproportionately large contribution to NATO, missile defense could be especially vulnerable to budget-cutters.

.

The brainless story that all of this is to stop non-nuclear armed Iran is not fooling the true target:  Russia calls on Britain amid tension over nuclear shield.  Russia has said, in no uncertain terms, surrounding them with missiles will lead to WWIII, not stop it.  Meanwhile, NASA and Russia Begin New Chapter in Space, namely, we can’t put up humans anymore into space so we bum rides from Russia!  While menacing Russia with nuclear missiles?  Talk about hubris run amok!sunset borger

  1. The CNN piece reminds me of the Disinformation Stein/Klein/Fareed Zakariah[?} regularly publish in Time, Newsweek, LA Times.

Things like ‘USA can still be America while being mostly non white’…
well NO! the immigrants are from the non white 3rd world and often dont reach the middle class because most jobs now dont pay middle class wages…etc etc
USA continues to increase its population via immigration, illegals, anchor babies while exporting jobs….we both know that.

It does depend on how one defines “winning” doesn’t it.
In the managed trade regime that exists today, the winner is the one with the most $ denominated debts to other nations. That nation is the winner because it has conned/forced other nations into shipping it real goods in exchange for depreciating/renounceable/defaultable promises to pay. It is the Merkin way; never give a sucker an even break, or as Lyndon once philosophized: ” When you have them by the wallets, the goods and services will come to you.” ( Actually he was talking about testicles and victory following naturally from controlling the testicles of your military opponents — but the definition of victory is the same.”

I am so impressed with the number of tri-athletes among those skinny orientals and steatophygic africans.

The idea that former bankers can be physically imposed upon sovereign nations as their new leaders is just mind-boggling.

All the violent demonstrations in Europe succeeded only in removing their elected leaders. Far from real change, they now face the ugly truth that they are ruled by bankers. Bankers are not afraid of stones or cream puff pies. They are afraid of guns though, and young people who have tasted the thrill of pulling the trigger.

I doubt a banker will be imposed upon Libya until the entire population has been disarmed. They will continue to work in the background to control things, but not dare show their faces in public as “rulers” over a heavily armed population.

Hell, the US lost every round with EVERYONE. No nation on earth runs deeper in the red in trade than the US.

Stick to the clear lines you have drawn and you will get that right. The US workers have lost every round with EVERYONE.

Check out this sewer trout from Harvard telling a sixty five year old dentist not to retire because their real estate and retirement accounts are swimming around with him in the bowl. The grandmotherly dentist will form a website with her grandson, who we presume has plenty of time, since he is unemployed? Then they will sell some nebulous dentistly advice to aspiring Indian dentists. Have these sewer logs ever met an Indian dentist? How about a thoracic surgeon, who is getting medical tourists to fly into Bangalore for their surgery? How fucking stupid do these people think we are? We are going to teach the Indians to be entrepreneurial? Even a Harvard ecoonoomist has heard of Infosys, a company so entrepreneurial that they have taken our backoffice computer operations away from us in the last fiveteen years.

“I’ve heard Dr. Boomer is considering starting a Web service, with her grandson, selling advice to aspiring Indian dentists. The government can help, perhaps by promoting adult education for 60-somethings looking to learn new technologies, but this will primarily be a private business.”

So this shitpot wants all of us to compete in a private mano-a-mano with people thirty years our junior, while it is sitting in the completely useless, pampered sinecure? How about you go fuck yourself too, Ed Glaeser?

Check ‘Crimes of the Times Blog’

Also Elaine the US did bring in lots of immigrants up till 1915 or so, then the floodgates were opened in 1965…..an Immigrant Nation?
thats like saying the plaque from Emma Lazarus on the SOL is a gift from the french…
No its a ‘gift’ of propaganda from a Zionist.

You’ve sucked enough of our blood, you vampires,
    With prison, taxes and poverty!
You have all the power, all the blessings of the world,
And our rights are but an empty sound!
We’ll make our own lives in a different way –
And here is our battle cry:
All the power to the people of labor!
And away with all the parasites!
    “This is our last
    And decisive battle;
    With the people
    rise up the human race!”

Contemptible you are in your wealth,
You kings of coal and steel!
    You had your thrones, parasites,
    At our backs erected.
All the factories, all the chambers –
All were made by our hands.
It’s time! We demand the return
Of that which was stolen from us.
    “This is our last
    And decisive battle;
    With the people
    rise up the human race!”

Enough of clouding our minds in the haze of war
    On the behalf of kings!
War to the tyrants! Peace to the people!
Go on strike, sons of the army!
And if the tyrants tell us
To fall heroically in battle for them –
    Then, murderers, we will point
The muzzles of our cannons at you!
    “This is our last
    And decisive battle;
    With the people
    rise up the human race!”

    😉
