As Israel, the US and Saudi Arabia work feverishly to destroy Iran, all three nations are falling apart due to internal hatreds and the many, many contradictions of policies. For a bunch of heavily armed nuclear powers that invade other countries or racist nations that persecute religious minorities or economic powers interested in only expanding themselves at everyone’s expense, this trio of destroyers want the entire planet to attack lonely Iran and destroy it like Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya. But this game is coming to an end due to internal strife in these three repressive regimes.
In the US, if Ron Paul was only a bit more liberal, he would shove Obama out of office in no time flat. His foreign policy positions are very popular if only people can learn about these policies. All we hear is how racist he is as if the entire GOP isn’t racist in the first place. He is anti-gay, too but then, so is the entire GOP so that is no difference. The main difference between the rest of the GOP swamp and Ron Paul is in foreign affairs! A thing the press dares not mention or discuss.
Israel was founded in order to create a Jewish heaven. But since this is predicated on being intolerant, racist and being religious bigots, what the creation of Israel has done is destroy any civilized impulses in the Jewish community. The great, great flowering of Jewish philosophers, musicians, artists, writers, designers, you name it: the Jewish community, once freed of the chains of repression and allowed to associate with all other people, released a magnificent flood of creativity within and without the Jewish community.
This rich, healthy association had to fight racism, religious bigotry and Medieval forces of repression and thus, the average Jewish citizen of various countries fully supported the expansion of civil rights and political liberalism and liberties. As a minority population, they understood that these things would make their own lives better. Alas, once they got their own evil little religious bigot state, the worst of the worst aspects of racism, bigotry, religious repression and fascism sprang up and is now in the process of destroying the minds of all Jews all over the world.
This is due to the need to act like vicious Nazis when ‘home’ but demand full civil and legal rights when abroad. They can’t have their racist cake and eat a liberal cake too. When struggling to survive, we form associations, cultures, habitats and societies. All plants and animals exist in co-relations with each other.
The idea that our wishes are good for us is a delusion. Our wishes are for totality, infinity, absolute power and basically, greed, self-centered infantilism and a desire to suck down all things and all space and rule it cruelly. So, anything that stops us from doing these destructive and horrible things is good and that includes death. We can’t live forever. If we did, this would rapidly become a dead planet. Evolution is death but it is also very much life. But in Egypt, the people there have voted overwhelmingly for the Muslim Brotherhood and even more radical Muslim parties. Like, almost 90% of the vote. This has enraged the US and Israel and both are moving to keep in power yet another military dictator like the past three guys.
Meanwhile, in the US, our Knesset has passed draconian laws overturning our Constitution all because they fear public uprisings here. Which are guaranteed to happen when we see our own government cutting spending at home while giving Jews every shekel they want in Israel. This is a recipe for disaster for the Jews here in the US and even in Israel. They have to face the truth and suppress their own vicious religious state and renew their vows of citizenship to whatever nation where they reside. You can’t have divided loyalties. It is extraordinarily dangerous for the Jewish people of all people.

In my personal experience, Israelis tend to be pushy and selfish. Many American Jews I have known, on the other hand, were very considerate and concerned for the welfare of others – menschen, I would say.
I remember a few years back, when tourism from Europe was at its height. I was in Strand bookstore and I noticed a great many German tourists reading books in the WW2 section. It seemed strange to me because they all seemed to have this furtive, nervous look about them.
Then I learned later that information about WW2 is heavily censored in Germany. I thought that was incredibly dangerous. Because by banning any and all information immediately creates a fetish or obsession.
The same thing is occurring in the U.S. The more information is censored regarding Israel, the more the imbalance grows. The more people are convinced of wrong doing or seduced by true anti-semitic ideals.
A public with more information is less likely to fall to ideologues than societies who are hog-tied.

As much as I would love for this statement to be true, it does not appear that it is. America has more households with an internet connection than any other nation, and the internet is how I informed myself regarding all the things I was not taught in school.
No other country has more information at its fingertips than America, yet most Americans use the internet for shopping and entertainment and not for reading about history or current events. I have yet to see with my own eyes a person using the internet for something other than shopping or entertainment, and I walked past people in the library just to see what they were looking at on the computers. Same in people’s homes.

As was pointed out above, societies who are deprived of information are more likely to seek it than those who have an abundance of it.

I am one of those people who uses the internet for serious studies. I spent 3-4 hours most days reading up on current events and trying to understand important historical and current geopolitical and economic influences around the world.
But, like you, I am distressed in the lack of interest in knowledge and learning in America. My issue revolves around the criticism that I get from friends and family for “wasting so much of my time”. I even get chastised for “wasting their time” when I bring my researched information into conversations.
Do you get that — many people not only do not have serious interests in history and current events themselves, but are actually critical of those who do.
Everybody have a great 2012 experience and watch out for any falling chunks of the world as highlighted in the Mayan calender.

Anyway, Ron Paul was on Leno last night and he stood his ground pretty well on Israel and Iran, for example, and met with enthusiastic approval from the studio audience. I think, in order to try and avoid alienating liberals, he may have people instructing him to downplay the more extreme aspects of his personal beliefs, and play up his positions on the lack of constitutional authority for the federal governmental to push people around. Of course, this presents a dilemma from a standpoint of protecting liberty interests, because to the extent the federal government lacks authority to push people around, it also lacks authority to prevent people from pushing people around. Now, I didn’t just make that last part up, it was noted in a letter from Madison to Jefferson in the context of the debate over whether to amend the Constitution with a Bill of Rights.

Oh yes, indeed! I too am ridiculed by my own family for expanding my knowledge, or at least attempting too, and yes, they think anything I do is a waste of time if it does not involve “making money”. It is really sad because so much information is now available that was not there just a few years ago.
I think only my brother understands that things are not as the government claims, but all other family members are quiet content to be spoon-fed any crap that comes out of the TV.

I really doubt the demons of the Outer Darkness care all that much about the “sovereign debt marketplace”, as that place is even less tangible than their own home. It is really just a mental trick they play on humans.

Suicidal, self-destructive humans are legion. This is one of the more bizarre facets of humanity: we conquered the earth and all living things yet we can’t rule ourselves. Our out of control desire for infinity is the serious flaw in our psyches, our social systems and our beliefs.
I am totally against infinity since I fear its vast, literally unlimited powers. Giving this power to the very gods themselves was a fatal mistake modern religions birthed in the last 2,000 years has fallen into which is why I bring this up all the time.
We invented the concept of infinity since it doesn’t exist in nature! It is literally anti-nature. That is, Death. Instead of great glory, it is destruction that is total. And tell that to anyone yearning for infinity and they get really mad. Really, really mad.

I seem to remember that Jews used to burn people at the stake (mainly women) for being “witches” (whatever that is) who practiced magic or black magic. In light of this, when your god or prophet incites people to start a nuclear war and then returns right before the missiles land to save a small number of “believers”, should not you and your god or prophet be burned at the stake for practicing black magic, or would that be too logical?

I find it interesting that we are continually encouraging other animals to be like us. That at some level, we don’t want to be alone in this universe.
Truthfully I don’t think other animals or even artificial intelligence will be able to logically grasp the dangers of infinity any better than we do.

Ok, DanL, now wait a minute. Some of these “countries” could receive internet service from a single Starbucks with wireless internet.
As for the others, if you network five to ten Starbucks, that would pretty much serve the entire population of these sparsely populated countries.
As for large countries, there is no one ahead of us except for England, if you consider England a “large” country.
And what does “internet penetration” mean? Is that internet cafes? I am talking about internet service to one’s home, not free service to patrons of cafes and restaurants. I know full well Germans go to cafes to drink tea, coffee, smoke, and talk politics. I lived there for two years. They were already better informed than us because of all the newspapers they had.

The article is a bit older, but it would correspond with the previous chart – 62% internet access in US in 2009 vs 76% in 2011 – home access that is. So disregarding the really tiny countries, the internet access in many European countries is ahead of US.
My point is that while US was indeed the best informed place in the past, other countries did not stand still and have caught up. I travel widely and in most places people have lots of sources of information that they can use to make up their mind about events. It’s up to them what they choose to believe.
The propaganda emanating from US networks is just as skewed as say from China national TV channels or Al-Jazeera in Arabic countries or Russia Today in Russia.
My experience is that in smaller European countries newspapers write more openly – they don’t have to toe the line as much as NYT etc.
I don’t think America was ever the “best informed place” in the world, so you have misread my comment way, way up there. I re-read it to see what this is all about.
Apparantly, you thought I said we were the most informed. No, I was lamenting the fact that despite so many Americans having so much information piped directly into their homes (234 million according to your chart, which dwarfs all other countries, including most of Europe), it is not used to inform themselves.

The fact that small islands and Nordic countries have greater “penetration” is irrelevant, since they were more informed than Americans BEFORE the internet arrived. That is when I lived abroad, back in the mid-80’s.
Since they had many newspapers that presented highly opinionated articles supported by actual facts dug up by their reporters, they could read different newspapers and compare them to see which they thought were more plausible. We have not had that since the late 1800’s, but the arrival of the internet changed all that, and it has arrived right in our own homes — no need to go to a library.
Internet penetration is irrelevant if it is used only for shopping or entertainment.
You know what I find most depressing about this site? You can take the time to write something, but it will be only glanced at or completely misread before an attempt is made to disprove or refute it, often concentrating on matters of little import. Perhaps this is one of the drawbacks of the “internet age”. We no longer take the time to read and understand anything. We want a picture instead.
Pictures don’t work, either. My cartoons have been totally clear yet people still struggle with what I consider to be basic concepts. The most basic one is ‘Infinity is unnatural and cannot exist in the real world.’ This, in particular, seems hard to teach people.
No argument here, but they do steal your cartoons for other reasons. I guess they like the picture of Russia as a bear, China as a dragon, Japan as a geisha girl, and the US as a bloody statue.

I read that 70% of non-jew new yorkers do not buy the 911 story, and dont believe the holocaust thing either.

Devaul, nowhere in the scriptures does Jesus say we should incite warfare. In fact, He said quite the opposite. The prophecies are there because “in the last days perilous times will come, when evil men and deceivers will grow worse and worse.” Salvation from death is not black magic, and infinity is not against nature. Death is.
Only when Jesus was killed off, did followers dream up the Apocalypse.

This is Jewish religion, which I do not believe in or follow. I don’t normally regale others here with my religious beliefs, nor do I continually quote from sources that others could care less about, but this is typical of most Jews.
In my religion, life and death are one and the same. Where there is no death, there can be no life, so how can “death” be against nature? It is part of nature and always has been. That is just the way it is, and that does not mean it is “evil” or “good”. It just is. There is no such thing or concept as infinity in my religion, at least not the way Jews understand it. There is continuity, but no infinity.
I am sorry the son of Jehova was murdered and no one avenged his death, but death happens. It happens every day, and it happens to the gods in various ways as well. No one can escape it. By accepting it, you become one with all things, and then you no longer alone.
