Immigration Bill Sets Strict Limits On Builder Visas As Left & Right Unite In Congress

I worked for many years building or rebuilding houses.  I watched wages in that field collapse after 1992 and this collapse fell to the cellar when free trade and an overt refusal to protect our borders from illegal aliens (yes, they are aliens as well as breaking the law!) flooded this field and drove out any citizens who were carpenters or brick layers, etc.  The housing boom coincided with a flood of cheap alien labor who worked under dangerous conditions and the profit from this flowed into the developer’s hands with contractors who benefited at first, losing their own jobs since they couldn’t communicate with their cheap labor.  So, the new immigration bill is filled with holes to allow big business to flood labor markets with cheap labor, except for builders who will be forced to hire Americans.

 

This enrages the rich.  Just like they won’t hire Americans to work as servants, they don’t want Americans in ANY jobs, anywhere, if possible because cheap foreign labor makes the rich richer!  Construction lobbyists fall short in push for more foreign workers – The Washington Post

 

The sprawling Senate immigration legislation now headed to the House is packed with provisions designed to help businesses hire foreign workers, whether for computer labs in Silicon Valley, cruise ships docked in Florida and other U.S. ports, or seafood-processing centers in Alaska…“It’s the unholy alliance of the far right and the left,” said Geoffrey Burr, chief lobbyist for Associated Builders and Contractors, a trade group with close ties to Republicans.

 

The industry has begun an aggressive push for new legislation with no special restrictions on construction jobs.

 

The sudden tsunami of illegal aliens wasn’t due to Americans wishing for this, it was fueled entirely by the very rich who also are the ones responsible for the flood of cheap foreign-made goods which temporarily made even poor Americans feel rich when they could buy many things suddenly.  But the backside of this is now hitting very hard.

 

Many formerly middle class Americans who did manual labor are discovering their children are either outlaw criminals in the drug trade or suicidal due to lack of good paying jobs.  Middle class educated Americans are seeing their kids go to college, amass huge debts and then find no good jobs due to lobbyists demanding a flood of aliens to do the exact same work.  If they find jobs, the pay stinks.

 

Note how the rich like Geoffrey Burr, sneer at citizen attempts to hold Congress to some sanity here.  Any time Americans thwart these well heeled K Street jerks, it is an ‘unholy alliance’ if both Republicans and Democrats listen to citizens.  Note that no one would dare call AIPAC an ‘unholy alliance’.  The Associated Builders are a GOP operation run by the rich guys at the top of that party.  The ones opposing these rich lobbyists are mainly Tea Party GOP members.

 

One of the saddest things ever was when the pro-Constitutional Tea Party was turned into an anti-civil rights operation.  So between doing good things for Americans, they attack half of the population trying to strip our rights from us and impose their noxious religious fanaticism on the rest of us.  Even in the Culture Wars which the rich encourage, this causing citizens to hate each other, has some odd aspects with the Tea Party.

 

Some, in that loose organization, want to stop the War on Drugs.  But no leader within it has demanded a stop on the Sex Wars which is aimed at suppressing or eliminating reproductive choices or sexual choices.  The debate about ‘what is rape’ rages on the right many of whom want a definition that basically legalizes the rape of women if the goal is to force them to have babies.

 

Meanwhile, the sneaky battle to allow a flood of foreign labor and goods into the US in order to impoverish workers continues.  The US was flooded by foreign labor after the Civil War due to the loss of slavery.  Driving down wages to the cellar was the solution and the US working middle class didn’t exist until after workers demanded an end to open immigration as well as protection of industries from imports.

 

This enraged places like Japan and Germany and had a lot to do with WWII when both decided to eliminate entire peoples to control labor competition for their own citizens as well as open looting coupled with closing their empires to any trade with the US except raw goods like oil or recycled steel.  The question here which I constantly raise is, where is the happy medium when it comes to citizens needing protection from aliens and the free movement of people and goods?

 

The only guide we have to that debate is history and history is clear: when the US had strong protections preventing alien labor and goods flooding the country coupled with strong currency restrictions (the gold standard, for example) has a strong middle class.  When we trend in the opposite direction we have a lopsided social economy with the very rich getting massively richer over time and the workers dropping into the cellar and living in substandard slum housing whether it be a trailer park or a big but dying city.

 

If there is a strong left/right political push this means an end to the fiat currency/free trade/open borders regime imposed by the rich.  In England, the UKIP party has drawn in workers on the left and right due to its demand the UK stop brining in hundreds of thousands of foreign workers under the EU system which imposes open borders.  The UKIP people scare the elites greatly because it is a classic national socialist system which has not taken on the Nazi/Zionist business of ethnic cleansing and religious warfare…so far.
