Now Climate Change Will Cause Violence! The Problem Is, Colder Climate Leads To Wholesale Civilization Collapse

1976 Ice age science news

A copy of a 1977 Science Magazine story about how we can save ourselves from the impending Ice Age.

The fight over climate issues continues with everyone yelling at each other while Mother Nature sails onwards effortlessly, doing what She does all the time that is, changing things constantly, either a lot or a little depending on many forces both cosmic as well as earthly.  We had a three week summer this year.  During July, we had this heat wave which vanished before the month was over and now resume the June cold weather with rain, lightning, very cold at night, barely making 70 degrees during the cloudy days and maybe 80 for a few hours on the sunny days.  Not normal at all.  Why, this is change!  Cold change.
I remember the ‘Little, little Ice Age’ of the 1970’s.  This is due to living in the cold Northeast which was bitterly cold.  One winter, we had blocks of ice flowing down the frozen Hudson River and Coney Island had these ice floes littering the beaches.  Many wild waterfowl were starving to death and I braved the howling winds to bring them food.  By the end of the 1977 winter, these poor birds would climb into my lap to eat and to huddle close to me, it was all so very sad!
And this is typical of climate change which anyone with a brain can see, the earth, far from being a stable place, has become hideously unstable for the last 2.5+ million years and this coincides with the swift evolution of an ape species we call ‘homo sapiens’.  We developed very rapidly a brain much bigger than any other simian and this is 100% due to the instability of the climate and the wild yo-yo of the Ice Age/Interglacial Melts.

Before we examine this week’s news about how we are all going to roast to death if we aren’t turned into blocks of ice, first, the chief solution for this impending hot weather that isn’t showing up here in the NE, is supposed to be nuclear power.  Even with Chernobyl and Fukushima the Two Towers of Evil grinning at each other with ghastly horror, even today the people screaming about this impending heat wave are claiming we need more nuclear power to stop this from killing us: TEPCO discloses extent of radioactive tritium leak into ocean ‹ Japan Today: Japan News and Discussion

Between 20 trillion to 40 trillion becquerels of the substance is estimated to have leaked into the sea since May 2011, said Tokyo Electric Power Co (TEPCO).

It was the first such figure TEPCO has released since a massive tsunami led to the accident in March 2011, a spokesman said Sunday…

But TEPCO said the scale of the radioactive tritium leak, from May 2011 to July 2013, was around the level which had been allowed under safety regulations before the accident—22 trillion becquerels annually at the six-reactor plant.

These monsters grant themselves the right to do trillions of becquerels of contamination and this was given for what reason?  Oh, the same reason the Federal Reserve and the Bank  of England created trillions of dollars and pounds to save outrageous bankers who did very stupid things!  These trillions of trash is OK with the rulers because they can give themselves the right to pollute or produce fake money to any degree they wish.  They can, when they go overboard doing this, simply ignore everyone and say, ‘It is legal for us to do this!’  because they control the law courts and the governments making up laws.

More and more people are freaking out about how Japan is mainly covering up the mess at Fukushima while getting permission to pollute the entire planet via the Pacific Ocean.  But Japan isn’t the only government unable to stop nuclear messes:  Storied nuke plant becomes environmental wasteland | World news | The Guardian

For 42 years, tank AY-102 has stored some of the deadliest material at one of the most environmentally contaminated places in the country: the Hanford Nuclear Reservation…Technical problems, mismanagement and repeated delays have plagued the interminable cleanup of the 586-square-mile site, prolonging an effort that has cost taxpayers $36 billion to date and is estimated will cost $115 billion more.

Since it has been rather cold lately, the hot heads demanding we tax everyone for energy use or force us to build thousands of nuclear power plants are pulling out all the stops like this silly story:  Climate change linked to violent behavior.  HAHAHA.  Tell that to all the ‘Dark Age’ hordes who overran empires in China or Rome. Cold=huge population displacements and lots of starvation as crops fail and people are cold and get very motivated to invade and destroy other tribal groups.  We evolved into the Killer Apes we are today due entirely to cold cycles called Ice Ages and got so good at this, we were able during the last Ice Age to go out and butcher giant beasts and eat them, all using stone weapons and pieces of trees.

So yes, climate change leads to violence.  But these ‘scientists’ are looking at petty crime and thinking, when it is warm, the petty crimes go up and when it is freezing, most people stay at home, indoors, ergo, hot=high crime and cold=low crime.  But Ice Ages and mini-Ice Ages cause mass mayhem big time.  When it is warmer, there are more crops, marginal lands are freed of ice and cold and become farmable and the population rises.  Ice Age conditions leads to population collapses, famine and freezing to death and farmland availability falls rapidly as growing seasons get much shorter or vanish altogether.

And one thing that irritates us the most is how ‘global warming’ (sic) people deny the cold 1970’s even happened.  They whine that few people thought an Ice Age was looming even though I remember very clearly, everyone at conferences and in publications were very much worried about this.  Here is a typical example:  1974 : Flooding, Drought, Crop Loss And Mild Winters Blamed On Global Cooling | Real Science

TIME Magazine June 1974: Another Ice Age?

In Africa, drought continues for the sixth consecutive year, adding terribly to the toll of famine victims. During 1972 record rains in parts of the U.S., Pakistan and Japan caused some of the worst flooding in centuries. In Canada’s wheat belt, a particularly chilly and rainy spring has delayed planting and may well bring a disappointingly small harvest. Rainy Britain, on the other hand, has suffered from uncharacteristic dry spells the past few springs. A series of unusually cold winters has gripped the American Far West, while New England and northern Europe have recently experienced the mildest winters within anyone’s recollection.

As they review the bizarre and unpredictable weather pattern of the past several years, a growing number of scientists are beginning to suspect that many seemingly contradictory meteorological fluctuations are actually part of a global climatic upheaval. However widely the weather varies from place to place and time to time, when meteorologists take an average of temperatures around the globe they find that the atmosphere has been growing gradually cooler for the past three decades. The trend shows no indication of reversing. Climatological Cassandras are becoming increasingly apprehensive, for the weather aberrations they are studying may be the harbinger of another ice age.

Absolutely we were very worried about this.  And like today, temporary trends were assumed to be eternal. Anyone looking at the history of the climate on earth can see there are many, many ups and downs, small and large with gradual deterioration towards cold to the point of covering half of the northern hemisphere landmasses with ice and the abrupt, ALWAYS abrupt warmings as the sun turns on its nuclear reactor core and heats up temporarily.  Over and over again.  And this means, the chances of another Ice Age is greater than the reverse.  Sheer logic of duration of cold cycles makes this nearly 100% inevitable.

Completely agree with this. While not scared of the future for myself because of age, it becomes uncomfortable when the seasons are no longer predictable length of time. Still, I wish that more people agreed with me and those few environmentalists in America, who would like to see the return of the horse and plow, rather than monsters dragging ten plows to dice the earth.
PS Has anyone noticed that the agricultural tools that we have are rather brutal instruments. No one has had discovered or invented a light and convenient tool that could expedite the work of the delicate art of hoeing. More than anything, this indicates to me the state of our attitude and mind.

  2. I wrote about the research you referred to, including the entire press release from the University of California, Berkeley, so readers can judge for themselves. As if on cue with the study being published, the top stories from past two weeks of Reuters have shifted from financial and corporate crime to violent crime and protests. I’ve included a sampling of them, too.

Global Warming = Violence??? Who would have guessed?
As far as ‘brutal cold’ in NY in the 1970s, I guess I was too young to notice. I was there for 8 or 9 winters. To me brutal cold is a Michigan winter.

This always makes me ask the quantitative question: how much colder is the sun?

Because this kind of disingenuous story always begs that question.
I did not notice your “little ice age”. We had winters in the 60s & 70s, and they were colder than now. Because it is warmer now. You want hot, move south.

Fact is, the climate predictions of the 70s ran fifty to one warming. And for the same reason as now. The atmosphere retains more heat.

So how much colder is this cold sun? Will it get colder faster than the air gets hotter? And what will it be over the next ten years? Because next century I won’t care.

What has to be tracked is the cold/hot business of the former areas covered by glaciers during the Ice ages namely places like NY.

NY was under a mile of ice not all that long ago, geologically speaking. Siberia and a good part of Alaska were warmer and humans and animals walked from Europe to the New World easily.

While all of the NE and most of Europe were under grinding ice!

So, if it is warmer in Siberia but colder in NY, this is ICE AGE WARNINGS not global warming.

Also, NY isn’t supposed to have Minnesota winters. See?

But local/regional weather is not the same thing as global warming. For example, Texas had a fifty-year drought a couple years ago. I did not go around trying to tell people that THAT was global warming. (though I have no doubt that some people did) Nor did that big storm, Sandy, have much to do with global climate. Sometimes big weather patterns merge up like that.

In solar news, I see that the scientists are expecting a flip of its magnetic poles pretty soon here. It has been interesting to see a star from up close like this. 🙂

    @Jim R

That whole area Texas, NM, Mexico, Along with Central America and South America go though mega-droughts periodically. That is what killed off the Mayan, caused the abandonment of the Chaco Canyon cities and weakened the Aztecs just in time for Cortes’s visit.

Not only that, at the time the Mayans were dying from lack of water, the vikings started their rampaging across Europe. Due to weather changes.

It’s all related. And there was no global warming back then accept for Sun changes. As I suspect is the case now. But the Elites have to have their weather taxes to squeeze the middle class dry. Keep buying into their lies.

I have stated before in this forum, and anywhere else, that financial fraud will not change the greenhouse effect.

But the effect is real: the infrared spectrom of methane and carbon dioxide has been known for > 150 years, and human activity (including but not limited to coal plants and forest clearing) has approximately doubled the amount of those gases in the atmosphere. Nothing like it is in the fossil record. Some of the extinction events were accompanied by carbon releases, and those were some traumatic times for life on earth. But in those events, the carbon release was a knock-on to some other thing like volcanoes or asteroid strikes.

And right now, the prediction that polar ice would melt is happening. It’s a fact, and not a “libberul plot” — well the financial part is, but the effect is real. The “biofuel” fraud is another bit of evil — tropical forests being cleared to grow oil palms. That does nothing but INCREASE the carbon load by destroying the forest.

I just wanted to know, by what percentage has solar irradiation declined? So far, it doesn’t look like enough to offset the rotting ice in Greenland and the Arctic. The slightly-cooler year we are having now does not (yet) invalidate the trend, nor does it look anything like an ice age.

  9. DeVaul

Elaine and her father are right again:

We are about to enter a Little Ice Age. The trends are all there.

(Notice the comments about the global warming/carbon credit scam).

ELAINE: I just read the news in Russia and published before reading your post. Good catch!

Hint to anyone including Napoleon: if Russia says ‘General Winter’ is coming, it comes. And is very brutal. And justifiably feared.

  10. melponeme_k

I give up with Huffpost true believers in global warming/change whatever. I think they actually believe we put out enough heat to equal the sun’s energy. So even if we enter a maunder minimum cycle, we won’t feel a thing.

  11. Jim R

OK, mel, then answer my question: how much colder is the sun now than it was five years ago? Or last year? By what percentage has its output declined?

And, I’d like to see some credible evidence that the last ice age was characterized by a warm trend at the pole. I frankly don’t believe it.

The Greenland ice core project has isotopic records going back 100,000 years, which says one thing loud and clear: there was ICE on greenland 100,000 years ago, and it never melted!

It is melting now (see video above).

Simply stuffing your fingers in your ears and shouting “But I don’t BELIEVE in global warming!” is no more effective than Al Gore’s financial fraud. It will not change the fact.

  12. Melponeme_k

The very fact that I’m HERE on this continent is proof that the northern areas were not covered in ice.

Yeah, my people were the ones who WALKED across the Bering Strait. AND they were stuck in Alaska for many, many, many years because the ice further south was impassable.

And you need to take your fingers from your ears. NO ONE on this blog is saying man made Global Warming doesn’t exist. We are saying that compared to sun changes any of our global pollution is miniscule in comparison. A sun going into sleep cycle will make damn cold on this planet. Whatever energy we output will not be enough to stop it.

  13. emsnews

And that is why this is so amazing! I grew up playing in solar observatories like the huge one built on Kitt Peak. I watched the sun closely all my life, later years via computer but back when NASA and the Pentagon were the only entities on the Internet, I got to access data at the university via the web.

And this is AMAZING. My father would have dearly loved to see this happen due to him being an expert who was shunned by others just a mere 10 years ago when he announced that the sun would go minimum this cycle.

All due to the global warming theology which was not based on science but rather, was SELECTIVELY using data to make a point while pretending literally that the sun never varies or changes output.

ALL the models are CRAP if they assume solar output of energy is steady state. My father’s last paper, ‘The Sun Is A Variable Star’ infuriated other scientists.

One actually said, ‘Well, then I guess we have to commit suicide!’

Well…NO. We evolved with this variable star! We are the end result of this star’s instability! We would be monkeys in trees if the sun’s output never varied.

  14. lucky13

“And right now, the prediction that polar ice would melt is happening.”

Audubon Magazine, this month, page 17:
South Pole Ice Increasing DUE TO GLOBAL WARMING” [Alisa Opar].

  15. Jim R

So, back to my question: how much colder is the sun now?
