First, the old news: CIA finally admits it masterminded Iran’s 1953 coup — RT USA. Now they must give us the true list of all the fascist regimes they created via hook and crook! A long, ugly list with many dead people and this same government of ours whines about exposing its ugly secrets: it may kill people! Well, the secrets kill people all the time and our government loves this! And this is why these secrets are kept. They are crimes.
Anyone exposing these stupid secrets of our massive spy system is persecuted mercilessly while at the same time our ‘leaders’ claim the mantle of ‘freedom’ and ‘democracy’ while overthrowing elected governments and allowing rank and rampant corruption in the ‘free nations’ which support these spies and bribery gangsters.
In England, the 1984 dystopia which is slowly being imposed there was exposed by Greenwald and his mate, David Miranda, and this is how we learned about ‘schedule 7’ and the danger that all reporters now face | Alan Rusbridger | Comment is free | The Guardian
Miranda was held for nine hours under schedule 7 of the UK’s terror laws, which give enormous discretion to stop, search and question people who have no connection with “terror”, as ordinarily understood. Suspects have no right to legal representation and may have their property confiscated for up to seven days. Under this measure – uniquely crafted for ports and airport transit areas – there are none of the checks and balances that apply once someone is in Britain proper. There is no need to arrest or charge anyone and there is no protection for journalists or their material. A transit lounge in Heathrow is a dangerous place to be.
And a transit lounge in Russia is safer! The irony of this is ignored by the main media giants who work hand in glove with the spy state and the bribers who own the ‘leaders of the Western Democracies’. London depends on being a free wheeling transit point for money and travelers.
Who are now on alert that going through London for any reason is highly dangerous. Many people have been detained there in the last few years but detaining high-profile people has exposed this to international scrutiny. Travel, in general, is becoming more restricted. We had many terror attacks on transport over the last 100 years but only now has it been set up so that ‘security’ has become ‘gross interference with travel’.
The Washington Post got some of the Greenwald material and they sat on it for the most part. The Guardian allowed GCHQ spies in offices to oversee destruction of leaked NSA data | Mail Online
Mr Rusbridger said dialogue with officials started around two months ago, before their ‘mood toughened’ around a month ago, when he claims he ‘received a phone call from the centre of government telling me: ‘You’ve had your fun. Now we want the stuff back’.
H’e revealed he held a series of meetings with ‘shadowy Whitehall figures’, in which he was asked to destroy all Edward Snowden related material.
Eventually, he said, officials threatened legal action, and that’s when the editor allowed British agents into his basement.
‘And so one of the more bizarre moments in the Guardian’s long history occurred – with two GCHQ security experts overseeing the destruction of hard drives in the Guardian’s basement just to make sure there was nothing in the mangled bits of metal which could possibly be of any interest to passing Chinese agents. “We can call off the black helicopters” joked one as we swept up the remains of a MacBook Pro.’
Chinese and Russian spies don’t make news, they hide from the news. Investigative reporters making a case about overboard spying and illegal spying are extremely public, the entire point is to be public. Of course, foreigners learn ‘secrets’ but then, they ASSUME all this in the first place, they know the US and UK spy on them and they return the favor.
The clueless people are the citizens who didn’t know the grotesque extent of the spying on all of them all the time! And proof that this is important to citizens is the fact that most support exposing this spying and terminating it and getting our Congress, which is owned by foreign powers, to stop this from happening.
The intervention by the White House will put pressure on Downing Street, which declined to comment on the detention of Miranda on the grounds that it was a police operational matter and added that the Met would decide whether its officers had acted in a proportionate manner.
The No 10 position was immediately challenged by David Anderson QC, the independent reviewer of terrorism legislation, who described the detention as unusual and said decisions about proportionality were not ultimately for the police.
In another 60 years, we might learn the truth! HAHAHA. Another revelation about the past like the Iran revelations! Can’t wait! Hoary secrets going way back in time still are kept because the truth clashes with decades of lying about facts.
Mr. Miranda’s right to a lawyer is sacrosanct. If murderers who are arrested get this right, so should travelers who carry information vital to democracy also have this right. The fact that it was denied should be denounced by our government, not shrugged off with a weak lie about culpability.
