Severe Cold Front Pushes Warm Air Before It Causing Global Warmists To Freak Out Totally

Cold fronts always push heat as these travel down from Arctic

earth wind map: My latest favorite website now that the US earthquake map has been eliminated by our government sequestration leaving everyone clueless about the impending earthquakes, is this map of the earth’s winds.  We are having a brief heat wave on the East Coast after a month of Arctic conditions with several feet of snow in some places.  The severe cold elicited zero response from the ‘climate change’ people who ignored this.  Now that another Arctic freeze is barreling down on us, we are giving a very brief three day respite from this Ice Age cold.  And on cue, the army of global warmists who pretend they care about ‘climate change’ are howling like banshees that we are going to roast to death even as people die from the cold front.

To seen how bad it will be in 48 hours, look at my local forecast!  The low Tuesday will be near zero degrees.  This is mighty cold.  And not the first night like this, we have had many this fall.  Winter only started yesterday, after all.  But the severe cold jumped the gun on Thanksgiving.  I am happy it warmed up briefly, I desperately needed to drag my old beat up jeep to a friend’s garage with a lift to rebuild the 4WD and other things.  Last week I had to shovel a foot of snow for half a mile by myself and no global warming enthusiast showed up to assist.  And it was very bitter cold, too.  It hurt to breathe.

Breaking News and Opinion on The Huffington Post: The global warming believers have this hideous double standard.  Whenever it is severely cold even for months, they sneer that this is ‘weather, not climate’.  One day of warm due to a severe cold front roaring in and they jump up and down announcing proudly that it is super warm and if we don’t tax energy used to heat homes, why, we will all roast to death!  They will fall silent in 48 hours and wait impatiently for the next possible warm day in this cold winter.

The mental confusion of the warmists is alarming.  It is clearly visible in this article run by a liberal publisher who thinks we are roasting to death as I struggle to deal with ice, deep snow and freezing cold:  A Lost Atlantis in South Jersey » CounterPunch: Tells the Facts, Names the Names:

Much of the late twentieth century quiescence might be attributable to the Atlantic multidecadal oscillation—an approximately 70-year cycle that amplifies or mitigates regional sea surface temperature independent of anthropomorphic climate change–and alternately obscures and exaggerates the temperature increases due to global warming.

The number of tropical storms and severity of hurricanes in the Atlantic is greater during warm phases of the AMO. A 30-year cold phase ended around 1995, and we are now well into the warm phase—with a corresponding increase in the number of storms and intense hurricanes such as Katrina and Sandy. The current peak may be similar to the mid-twentieth-century peak from 1930 to 1960 (surrounded by cold intervals of 1900-1930 and 1960-1990).

A consensus seems to indicate climate change may give rise to fewer but much stronger Atlantic hurricanes–

Note how confused these paragraphs are!  At one point, the writer claims there are more and nastier hurricanes during warming cycles and then…that there would be fewer but still nasty.  Not a peep about this latest season with virtually none with the only lonely ones being a mere category 1 hurricanes.  As to the ‘well into the warm phase’ this is pure insanity.  It is NOT warm.  It may be slightly warmer than during the Maunder Minimum in Antarctica but this year seemed more like the Maunder Minimum, not some tropical heatwave.

The writer, Kathy Deacon, complains about all the Victorian buildings wrecked by the ocean’s wrath.  Well, when were these built?  Why, at the very end of the Maunder Minimum!  The oceans were lower during that period and the foolish Victorians built right on the sand dunes as people still do today despite geological warnings to stop doing this foolish thing!  The houses vanished because the Little Ice Age ended.  The global warmists want this back.  Why?

I would suggest the massive population move during the warm cycle which is ending, is responsible for this attitude problem.  Many, many, many moved to the edge of the ocean and in easily flooded places like Florida which was mostly swampland before humans moved in.  Yes, Florida floods during warmer cycles.  And for millions of years, no sapiens lived there and when Native Americans came over during the last Ice Age, a few moved there but not many.

What the warmists want is to freeze me up here to save Florida.  They want another mini-Ice Age and may trigger a Real Ice Age.  Kathy, for example, touts the ‘hockey stick warming’ model even as she admits there were ‘cold intervals’ which coincidentally lasted half a century in total!  That is, 50% of the time, it was colder, not warmer!

Winter solstice coronal hole 2013

The huge coronal hole that dominated the northern hemisphere of the sun for so many cold days is diminishing in size.  It isn’t just the weak character of the sun spots that is responsible for our climate, it is also these coronal holes at work.  We still barely understand our local star which is life and death to all living things.  Coincidentally, the solar wind from this hole will hit exactly the same time the entire East Coast is going into a deep freeze again.  There are many coincidences in weather events.  Not all are equal.  But we can’t write out things due to ignorance.  We still don’t entirely understand how the sun affects weather and how quickly but my feeling is, the coronal hole events are greater significance than people suspect so far!

This weak solar sun spot cycle coinciding with a cooling off of the areas of the Northern Hemisphere that were subjected to deep glaciers in the past is quite troubling.  Siberia was warmer than Canada back then.  Big time.  Canada was 90% under glaciers and Siberia had virtually no glaciers.  This salient point is ignored by ‘scientists’ who want to think we will warm up until winter vanishes in the Ice Age Glacial Belt.  This isn’t happening, the queer effects we are seeing are probably due to impending global cooling, not warming.  If it were warming, I would be warmer than Siberia, not the other way around.

The sun sputters and spits energy.  These come in bursts, there is no ‘steady state’ for at least the last 2.5 million years.  Pretending there is some ideal state we can achieve is madness.  All we can do is understand how this is happening so we can protect ourselves.  Though little can protect us from another Ice Age which would kill off most humans, fast.

Oh well, betrayed by yr own…the left [Al Gore and his leftist loons].
GREAT ARTICLE, too bad theres no $ to be made by the mainstream with yr ‘dose of climate reality’.
Here in So Cal it is relatively cold as well.

  2. Luc

Also, I spoke to someone in Wash DC. Yesterday it was 70-75 degrees F.
By Monday its expected to be below freezing!
However how unusual is 0 at this time in NYS?

ELAINE: VERY unusual. And it was that cold at Thanksgiving! That is January weather. Two months early and no comment from all the climate freaks.

Eureka! This one caused me to start laughing!
Christmas, 1936 was 58 degrees in Dubuque, Iowa.
This year forecast to be -14.

Wonderful site that Earth wind map =) We are getting winds from Africa and the West Indies (following the Gulf Stream up). No wonder it’s almost 10C warmer than normal this time of year.

Tisk, tisk. It seems the ever-so-truthy ‘journalists’ at Fox News have been running this image of a snow-covered sphinx:

    Liars gotta lie, I suppose.

The Earth Wind Map has adjustable Geopotential Height: 1000, 850, 700, 500, 250, 70, 10 hPa. Each height has different wind velocities.

…and Map Projections: Atlantis, Azimuthal Equidistant, Conic Equidistant, Equirectangular, Orthographic, Sterographic, Waterman Butterfly, Winkel Triple. If you haven’t heard of some of these projections join the club.

    …as well as a Color/BW choice: Overlay None/Wind.

Ijm R, Egypt had snow for the first time in 50 [or was it 100?] years! That may be the reason FOX had the image.

We had a cold spell here in late November with January weather as well. Sunny clear blue skies, light snow and cold and clear crisp night skies lovely weather really. Then this warm, humid air descended and we have had this warm spell with lots of hard wind rain/hail and brief, quickly formed local storms.

Here comes a Christmas greeting from Ebeneezer Scrooge, Patron Saint of the elites:

“If they [the poor] would rather die, . . . they had better do it, and decrease the surplus population.”

No beggars implored him to bestow a trifle, no children asked him what it was o’clock, no man or woman ever once in all his life inquired the way to such and such a place, of Scrooge. Even the blindmen’s dogs appeared to know him; and when they saw him coming on, would tug their owners into doorways and up courts; and then would wag their tails as though they said, “No eye at all is better than an evil eye, dark master! ”

No mentions of wildfires in Aus, as counterpoint.

Australia is high summer right now. Plus it is not a ‘normal’ place but unique, being a relatively small and rather isolated floating continent. NOT representative of climate models for the planet.

  12. Duski

Well, this time I feel you are Very hyporcritical. When it’s cold because of currents, you attack scientists about global warming, when it’s warm you think they are silly because of thinking short-term temperatures.

You should know that any short term temperature in any given area does not make global warming true / false, so when it’s chilling there again, I’d expect you to refrain from claiming so.

Not that people supporting global warming are any better in this regard, though…

  13. emsnews

EVERY short term or local weather event that is ‘warm’ is trumpeted by the global warming guys as the End of Humanity while every blizzard and severe cold wave even if it covers entire major continents (Australia, for example, is very small) is ignored even if this lasts for a month at a time.

This is the problem. What is ‘short term weather’? After all, the last 30 years is very short term when we know that the typical repeat Ice Age lasts over 100,000 years!

  14. ziff house

70 F in NY ! Our enso neutral winter has turned mild again. low snow pack so far. nothing like the 2 week blizzards we had in the 70’s. Its was about 10yrs ago i first noticed the arctic outflows had turned warm.

summer snow = ice age. winter snow , meh ,,,

Elaine has been attacking the global warming myth for years now. She did not just start up this winter. On the contrary, this winter vindicated her and embarrassed all the jackasses that said on national TV that this would be one of the warmest winters on record.

Hell! When is someone going to hold these clowns to their crummy predictions, not to mention their crummy science that excludes factors they don’t like?

They remind me of nuclear engineers, who never included nuclear waste disposal in their projections of a brighter, cleaner, greener future.

  16. Duski

I know Elaines point of view did not develop right now. And in any case, any single winter, no matter how extraordinary local weather is.

The operative word here is “global”. Locally some places can even get colder, depending on how weather patterns change etc.

Also, I wholeheartedly agree that we don’t really know anything certain about “long term”. Before this global warming thing scientists were afraid that new ice age is coming, if I remember correctly. But science goes forward and time will enhance the predcitions, I’d suppose.

And yeah, it is very warm here in Finland now too, like it was in, um, 2003 or 2004 or close to those years. And between here and then we had normal / cold winters as well. It’s just that one persons lifespan is a quite short time to get certainty of this, and we are biased to short-term changes instead of looking longer timelines.

And here in Finland, we do have detailed plans for nuclear waste disposal as well.

  17. emsnews

    YOUR weather is ‘local’.

Our severe cold this winter is not local, it covers the entire northern half of a huge continent that is much, much bigger than Europe.

As I keep pointing out, the Ice Ages hit North America the hardest. We had the biggest, mile high glaciers. There were glaciers in Europe but nowhere as huge as North America.

These glaciers were Antarctic in size and depth.
