Brooklyn residents don’t appreciate Spike Lee’s rants on gentrification: Mr. Lee was allowed, due to being a Hollywood personality living in NYC, to perform a disgusting, very racist, obscene rant about fixing up neighborhoods that once declined into crime-riddled slums. The two neighborhoods this upper East Side Manhattan Super Star criticized was two places I was very active in cleaning up and renovating. That is, Park Slope and Fort Greene. It wasn’t the house repairs that worked when I was operating there, it was my very proactive, arrest anyone street patrols we organized back in the 1970’s. This was literal life and death. My block, before the patrols began, had a monthly murder rate that was very high, three in one month the same month we decided, after blocking off the street with discarded couches, to change via being very, very active at night. And it worked and this pissed off Sharpton and Lee no end and both attacked me, personally, for doing this because I was a white woman.
Way back then even, black mothers and the turnstile fathers would boast to me that I couldn’t arrest their children which is why they sent these urchins out to commit crimes such as stealing, breaking into homes and dealing drugs and this emphatically included killing people since the tots wouldn’t go to Sing Sing. This destructive ethos continues and only has gotten worse over the years. Recently, the President himself divided the nation by sighing that Trayvon, a budding criminal gangsta wannabe, was ‘like my own son’ which has set the right wing media nuts because there are millions of Trayvon ‘sons’ out there causing great misery to their neighbors and themselves.
Instead of fixing what caused Trayvon whose parents were not living in slums, to turn himself into a dead man, the black community along with liberals have gone on this jihad about the very rare white males killing blacks who are unarmed (which is extremely unusual since many black teen males are very much armed to the teeth!). The horrific death rate of black teen males and some females is ignored. Nothing is being done to fix what has gone so badly wrong with blacks in America. If they are unable to understand how neighborhoods are destroyed by vandalism, lazy trash habits, aggravating noise levels, lack of security, then nothing will ever go well in the future.

The effort will seek “to make sure that every young man of color who is willing to work hard and lift himself up has an opportunity to get ahead and reach his full potential,” the White House official said, speaking on the condition of anonymity ahead of the announcement. “The initiative will be focused on implementing strategies that are proven to get results.”
The dead child with the bizarre first name of ‘Cartrail’ is a drug dealer. No shock to me. He and his juvenile delinquent friends did stupid things with guns just like right wing white males do stupid things with guns like getting drunk recently and showing a girlfriend his gun had no bullets in it by putting it to his forehead and pulling the fatal trigger. In the photos above posted by Cartrail, the teens are pointing guns at each other’s foreheads, too with the same end result.
Doing very stupid things with guns is not a ‘black’ thing because every day, ‘white’ children die due to boyfriends and daddies leaving guns lying all about with bullets ready to fire. The carnage from unsecured guns on small children or children shooting adults thinking the guns are toys is immense. White pro-NRA groups are working hard to erase the Sandy Point massacre, for example by pretending it was an evil conspiracy to disarm them with a fake school shooting. That is utterly insane as well as stupid.
Both white right wingers and left blacks seem bent on twisting reality so they can continue to do stupid things.
Memphis is heavily black and I found nearly no stories about this 13 year old killing. Yes, the machine runs onwards off the tracks. This attorney is giving very bad advice to black parents by trying to lay all blame on Zimmerman, a man I said back when this event happened, was not exactly very sane, himself. But Trayvon was on the fast track to early death, big time, all on his lonesome and the chances another black teen drug dealer would shoot him was fairly high, not low. Same with Memphis. There are plenty of gangster teens running drugs there and their neighborhoods have a very high crime rate and no white renovators are coming in to fix it up, probably never.

Cartrail’s school is one of the blackest in Memphis. Nearly everyone except a dozen students are getting government lunches. Obviously virtually no one is gaining any learning there from the test statistics. I know from first hand experience how teachers can’t teach students who are out of control, rude, chaotic, lazy or disinterested in any learning. It is impossible. Even Mr. Lee did not send his own family to such schools, either.
I remember when we started Save Our Schools (SOS) in New York City 40 years ago. At Boy’s High, the principal told me he had the students under control because there were only three shootings there that year! I walked into classrooms in Brooklyn where children were running around, throwing things and totally ignoring the teachers. And the teachers were desperate and had zero support for disciplining students.
White renovator parents who are gentrifying places ALL put their children into private schools in the Northeast cities. I did! You had to. Or destroy you child by dumping them into chaotic schools. Here is some more statistics about Cartrail’s neighborhood:

The accident happened at 10:52 a.m. near the intersection of Weaver Road and Levi Road in South Memphis.
The driver of the 2000 Chevy Cavalier was taken to The MED in non-critical condition. The front seat passenger was pronounced dead on the scene. A passenger in the back seat was not injured.
According to police, it appears as though the car slid, then hit a power pole.
According to students at the school, the three students left for lunch and never came back…As for where the students were headed and why they were not at school, SCS referred Action News 5’s Lauren Squires to police. Police say that is all under investigation.

The Congressman who lied about the vote there, telling everyone the plant would expand if they destroyed their own pay, proves to be an utter lie. And German unions are very pissed off that the US workers are so stupid.
The entire discussion about race here is stupid. The war on drugs must end. And we have to take back jobs sent overseas and revive our economy by reducing free trade which has savaged us all. Just so we could import cheaper cars and electronics and clothing! A bum deal.

Last night on the PBS newshour they were talking about this new “initiative” for black youth. Anyway they continually lament “high incarceration rates” among young blacks. As if their incarceration was the problem, instead of the CRIMINAL BEHAVIOR they perpetrate! And as is pointed out here, the gansta culture that GLORIFIES criminal behavior. All of which is obvious (but unspoken) among most white people, who try their best to avoid young black people.

Those high incarceration rates, primarily for non-violent drug offenses, wouldn’t have anything at all to do with the “War on Drugs” that has made an industry of targeting inner-city youth as raw material for the private-prison industrial complex. Remember this always: the US comprises 5% of the world’s population yet fully accounts for 25% of the world’s incarcerated people. Thank the drug “war” and sentencing discrepancies for different races.

While this may be a notable cause, I do not see how this will help with the unemployment rate so high and little hope of economic recovery under this administration. The problem is, what jobs? The traditional manufacturing jobs have pretty much vanished and the few that remain are paying poorer and poorer whereas crime is very lucrative.
That kid in this story is poor…and has hundreds and hundreds of dollars each week! Would he have chosen crime or working hard hours for a few bucks? While being bossed around?
Ending the war on drugs will dry up the profits. I have said this all my long life: give addicts what they crave, as much as they want until they die. They want this, they get this. If they tire of this, they can choose to stop. This is how we do booze, after all.

I can’t get on board with you for the Spike Lee rant. He may be lousing up his cause but I know what he is complaining about. I live in a neighborhood that has been changed over a period of 10 years by former Williamsburg Jewish residents fleeing the hipster invasion.
Hipsters are 20 to 40 white, rich somethings who the real estate industry uses to take advantage of working class NY citizens. They don’t meld into the culture of New York, they impose crazy ass crap on it. Why don’t they stay at home in the Midwest and do it to their childhood neighborhoods.

Subways were dangerous, dirty and crappy. The streets filthy and teeming with muggers. One of the first services our street patrol did was to escort the elderly including black elderly women, to the bank at the beginning of the month to deposit their SS checks and not be mugged.

It should be noted that neither Twitter nor the Martin family has confirmed that these tweets belong to Trayvon Martin. It is also possible that the Tweets have been photoshopped or otherwise tampered with, seeing as there are some obvious stylistic differences that exist, even among some of the Tweets on the Caller’s site (for instance, some are spelled more accurately than others). However, if genuine, these Tweets may give us more insight into Martin’s enigmatic life and character.

I’m not white, I was in New York in the 70’s. I remember the dystopia. I remember the burning buildings because landlords would collect insurance rather than selling. I remember the subways. But the culture of the city was not solely immigrant. My relatives were living there since it was called New Amsterdam.
I was there in the 80’s. I remember the dysfunction in the West Side Highway area. I know what Harlem was like.
Was it bad? YES. But that wasn’t all of it. There was a lot of good. The city had vibrance, it was affordable. It was filled with independence both in life and commerce. New York city used to be a city of bookstores. You know what is left of that? Barnes and Noble. IF YOU CAN FIND ONE STILL OPEN. Barnes and Noble seems intent on shutting down to push its nook. The city is corporatism now, in the flesh. New York is turning into a mirror of Brazil cities, with the super rich at the center and the rest pushed to slums.
I know you tried to help Elaine. But you know who reaped your struggle? The elite you rail against. All the good people, black and white, who fought alongside you were pushed out due to exploding rents and horrific property taxation. They were pushed into another ghetto with the same fights all over again.
I was not PUSHED OUT, I got a lot of money and moved out! DUH.
I invested my money and time fixing up derelict buildings on the verge of being burned down all of which did have fire damage! I fixed things and got a profit from it.
I am pro profit, pro work. Have been all my long life. I build stuff with my hands! Hard work.
the tenants in NYC had lots of protections and thus, were reckless, violent and destructive. Evicting someone was very hard time consuming and horrible.
And they knew this and would maliciously damage property. Landlords didn’t have to illegally burn down buildings, the tenants gleefully did this all on their lonesome!
I know this first hand because I had to supervise these destructive people!

Many neighborhoods in Brooklyn weren’t like the neighborhood you chose to live in, they were quietly middle class and functioning. My neighborhood. We are being pushed out. Rent is sky high. Because corporations don’t pay the taxes they should be paying, property taxes are being used to take up the slack. My family is being pushed out.
Regular services along with protections are being phased out.
Back to books. All of the independent, mom and pop stores are gone. Barnes and Noble reigns over all. Well we can just go to the library. Right. The elite you helped in Park Slope are now in the process of closing our libraries and stealing the public and very valuable land they sit upon. We need more condo high rises like we need pot holes in the streets.

The illegal alien problem in NYC is a different demographic. We have a big influx of Eastern Europeans, many of whom claim to be Jewish. Whether or not they are, I have no idea. But a few years back they drove Lexus cars and wore fur coats while shopping with food stamps. I only wish I was lying about that.
The hispanic immigrants here, work damn hard. I don’t see the same problems I see the border states and California experiencing. And the majority speak English. The same with Asian immigrants.
We get a different breed around here. It must be the snow and cold weather.

Imagine if a young, attractive black woman had been campaigning for John McCain in a white neighborhood and a white man murdered her for the fun of it. This would have been the biggest news story in the entire western world. The national media would have talked about it for years.
Except it was a white woman campaigning for Barack Obama in an all black ghetto area of New Orleans. She was shot and killed along a busy road. The killer took nothing. She was killed purely for the fun of it. Not only did the media censor it, but the San Francisco Chronicle even ran a completely fake story, lying about the details of the murder, to cover it up! The victim’s own friends posted memorials online, but refused to talk about how she died.
Kirsten Brydum was a prominent Marxist activist in San Francisco. In 2008, she began travelling the country by train to campaign for Barack Obama. Fresh from protesting the Republican National Convention, she arrived in New Orleans with only a few possessions and an old bicycle. Online posts from Brydum and her network of friends confirmed she was in New Orleans to campaign for Barack Obama at the time of her death. These posts were scrubbed from the internet in the days after her murder.
She was riding her bicycle late at night on a main road in an all black ghetto area of New Orleans. She was shot and killed for the fun of it. It was a textbook hate crime. New Orleans police said that “robbery was not the motive” and that nothing was stolen. Her old, ratty bicycle was still laying next to her. Despite being shot in a densely populated urban area, no one called police to report the gunshot. He body then sat on the sidewalk for hours and still no one called police. It wasn’t until city workers drove by, and say the body, that police were informed.
The militant far-left San Francisco Chronicle then launched a cover-up by publishing a completely fake story about her murder. They falsely claimed she was on vacation in New Orleans and killed for her bicycle. Later, a particularly left-wing writer at the New Orleans paper would write a follow up story, not based on the facts or the police report, but on the fake San Francisco Chronicle story. Even though the New Orleans The Times‑Picayune had already reported that her bicycle wasn’t stolen, they published a second fake story claiming she was murdered for her bicycle. Brydum’s friends stated online that her bicycle was a piece of junk that lacked any value.
