Tory Education Sec Angry About WWI Lessons Via Blackadder And Monty Python

Monty Python’s WWI skit: The entire war was unhinged from day one.  The Great Empires had chopped up the entire planet and using the ever-useful ‘Right Makes Might’ drew the sword on weaker nations, dismembering them brutally.  Especially native tribes which were annihilated, enslaved, imprisoned and starved.  Once the entire planet was enslaved, these same empires then suddenly turned on each other in a horrific series of world wars.

The Conservative Education Secretary in Britain is an imperialist right winger.  Michael Gove blasts ‘Blackadder myths’ about the First World War spread by television sit-coms and left-wing academics | Mail Online

Britain has pledged £50million in public money to mark the (WWI), with school trips to battlefields and ceremonies planned over four years. The French government has also embraced the centenary, planning 1,500 events across the country. But there are few plans for events in Germany itself.

Mr Gove, who has rewritten the school history curriculum to give pupils a better grasp of the broad sweep of British history, reserves his greatest scorn for those who have sought to depict the soldiers as lions led by donkeys…

‘The conflict has, for many, been seen through the fictional prism of dramas such as Oh! What a Lovely War, The Monocled Mutineer and Blackadder as a misbegotten shambles – a series of catastrophic mistakes perpetrated by an out-of-touch elite.’

Blackadder’s comedy (a very dark comedy ending with the antiheroes all dead except the one playing the cruel UK general, Haig) is used in schools to provoke discussion about wars.  I would rather the students watch all of the famous WWI documentary by the BBC.  Especially this episode:

3rd Battle Ypres 1917 WW1 Footage Hell Fire Corner Menin Road Then And Now – YouTube

Millions of men were treated like so much firewood to be thrown on the blazing funeral pyre built by the generals and the depraved diplomats who couldn’t understand that Might can be Wrong.  This brutal wrestling match in the mud went on for four long years with no change in policies, diplomacy or strategy.

For all sides, it was ‘win at all costs’ with no heed to the human carnage.  The oddest thing to grow out of WWI was the simultaneous chopping up the German/Austro-Hungarian empires along ‘ethnic’ lines and also chopping off a huge hunk of the Russian empire which was now communist.

While at the same time, the triumphalist empires turned on the rest of humanity and proceeded to chop up, enslave and abuse the rest.  All, while proclaiming the wonderful results of freeing ethnic people!  The despair and anger of the victims of colonialism grew vastly such as in India, China, Africa, South America and everywhere else.

Like today, there was this dual-morality belief system of the rulers.  Whatever they chose to do was ‘legal’ and ‘good’ and anyone defying them was ‘evil’ and ‘outlaw’.  Even if the actions were identical, nay, especially when identical, the rage of the rulers was huge if anyone pointed out the hypocrisy.

I see this all over the US as our rulers drum up anti-Russia propaganda.  On the radio today as I drove home from the hospital, professor Dr. Alan Chartock, the fascist/liberal  president of WAMC, had been banging the war drums for more than a week against Russia and today he said, ‘Soviet Union…um…Russia’ when talking about how evil the Ruskies are.

The Huffington Post, another fake liberal operation, has very ugly headlines that are often open lies.  The main point here is, the US is being shoved by liberals as well as McCain warmongers into a conflagration we are going to greatly regret.

The Fog and Rumblings of War: the once-liberal, anti-war Talking Points Memo is for war!  The comments there are discouraging, to put it mildly.

World War I casualties – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The total number of deaths includes about 10 million military personnel and about 7 million civilians. The Entente Powers (also known as the Allies) lost about 6 million soldiers while the Central Powers lost about 4 million. At least 2 million died from diseases and 6 million went missing, presumed dead.

About two-thirds of military deaths in World War I were in battle, unlike the conflicts that took place in the 19th century when the majority of deaths were due to disease. Improvements in medicine as well as the increased lethality of military weaponry were both factors in this development. Nevertheless disease, including the Spanish flu, still caused about one third of total military deaths for all belligerents.

Vietnam leader warns against use of force in territorial rows while visiting Japan yesterday.  The US has asserted total power in the entire Pacific Ocean as well as the Atlantic Ocean, the Mediterranean Sea and everywhere on earth.  And all nations riding piggyback want ‘peace’ that means unilateral dictation of sovereignty based entirely on US orders, backed by raw Might Makes Right guns.

This isn’t ‘peace’ it is pushing hard for war as the only way to resolve things.  Imagining the US can cage in the world’s #1 economic power (the US is NOT #1 anymore due to dual government overspending plus immense trade deficits and the world’s worst sovereign debt, by far!).

Anxious to curb China, the US is egging on all of China’s weaker neighbors.  Japan is the oddball exception for it has worked very hard to destroy the US economy or take over our economic sectors here and has gravely weakened the US economically while Japan’s economy is slowly dying due to the population rapidly dying off.

China Car Market Up 14% to 20 Million Sales: the graph above showing who makes the most cars, China makes more than Japan and the US combined.  And the consumers are in China!  Which is the growing, dynamic market.

Chinese car market expands, pleasing German auto makers …

German Car Sales to Grow 41% in U.S. by 2015, Handelsblatt Says – Bloomberg from one million to one and a half million cars by 2015 if our economy doesn’t go into a tailspin due to sanctions on a major energy selling country, Russia.

Chinese car sales are 2o million while Japan’s internal sales are less than four and a half a million a year.  AUTOSHOW-Tokyo Motor no-show? Japan snubbed as market shrinks | Reuters

Add to that the financial crisis that has many automakers losing money and it is little surprise that some members of the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA) had initially proposed doing away with the Tokyo Motor Show all together this year. The four domestic truck makers all pulled out early on.

For the financial year to March, JAMA, the industry’s lobby group, is forecasting a 32-year low in sales of new cars and trucks of about 4.3 million units, down 8 percent from last year.

Germany boycotted the Tokyo auto show due to lack of interest in the increasingly minuscule auto market there.  The opposite of China.

The Japanese produce most of their cars here in the US as they do in China.  But the signal thing about factories is, they are physical and can be seized by the people if owned by aliens. The US can do this, too, of course, except Japan is our client state.  Which is crazy and a sign of our nation being very weak, not strong.

Russia is buying lots of German cars, too.  And runs a trade surplus with Germany, while Germany runs a huge trade surplus with fellow EU nations which has them very much enraged at Germany.  Germans are not happy with this month’s dance to the bagpipes of war.  They want to do business with Russia.  But they are being increasingly trapped by fellow EU members who want Germany to fund everything including a war with Russia.

Germany remembers previous wars with Russia.

Another great movie on WWI, especially showing how all the young boys are goaded and propagandized into going to war is “All Quiet on the Western Front”. The book is also terrific, describing the absolute horror of trench warfare, where many young soldiers lost limbs due to gangrine rot. I can scarcely look at John McCain without dry heaving.

“Michael Gove blasts ‘Blackadder myths’ about the First World War spread by television sit-coms and “left-wing academics

This is the tactic the elites used to destroy US media and academia. They blamed everything on scary ‘leftwing bias’ and inserted their paid and programmed drones where there used to be people who were able to apply critical independent thought and analysis to problems.

Henceforth, to save money, NASA will have its astronauts use the spaceship ride in front of the grocery store, putting a quarter in the slot and making “vroom” noises as the rocket vibrates.

Josh Marshall was always a fraud. He was pro-Iraq war; I don’t pay him the least attention.
‘Paths of Glory’ was also a teriffic and horrifying WWI film, by the great Stanley Kubrick.
Best of luck w/Chris’s operation & recovery, sincerely.

It’s pretty obvious the neocons want to drive a big wedge between the booming Germany, Russia and China. Expanding NATO further into Eastern Europe and ratching up the Cold War rethoric should do the trick… Next up more underhand doubledealing and black ops in Khazakstan and other areas between Russia and Iran and close to China.
