Overgrazing Is Greater Danger Than Global Warming

Australian rancher has too many sheep

The above picture is from a ministry in Australia where a number of the top ICPP ‘climatologists’ operate.  Note the huge number of sheep and zero plant life.  The desertfication done by this rancher is insidious and hard to reverse.  And it causes local temperatures to rise significantly.  Interactive: Panorama photos reveal NSW drought conditions – ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) has a comprehensive record of rainfall in Australia.  But this doesn’t deter the warmists who are now howling that Antarctica ‘stealing’ Australia’s rain: study by some of the frauds pretending to be ‘scientists’.

You see, these guys have to explain why Antarctica is no longer heating up.  And Australia is now getting colder, too.  Yes, it is the rain which is falling as snow!  But look at a chart showing rainfall this last 115 years:

Australian rain much greater this last 50 years fewer droughts

Antarctica is doing a wretched job, no?  Some theft!  It was stealing a lot more rain during the hot 1920-1930 era.  Same time we had our dust bowl years.

I am particularly angry about ranchers overgrazing which they do universally is no one stops them.  Overgrazing turning parts of Mongolian Steppe into desert is one. example.  This can be seen from space, it is so bad.  Tree cutting, overgrazing destroys natural climate of Sheikh Badin National Park is another example from Pakistan.  Afghan settlers, nomads fight over grazing land is typical.  All of Africa is being overgrazed due to the value of cattle and other animals as status symbols.  Grass and trees cool the climate and dry sand and blazing sun heats it up.

So if warmists are going to blame us for heating up the planet, we should tackle this the sane way: stop the overgrazing, plant trees and grass.  First world nations are doing this as well as the rural poor in third world countries.

While we contemplate overgrazing, let us raise a cup and remember the vast ‘short grass’ prairie once indigenous to North America east of the Rockies before Euro conquest. A perfectly adapted drought and fire resistant native grass species that supported the immense herds of bison and other post Ice Age animals. Short grass was over grazed and cultivated into oblivion by domestic cattle ranchers and exists in a rare few preserves now.

Here is a link with some of the original short grass species listed (Colorado State University PDF):

Those are the sheep whose ancestors, bastards who supported free trade, put an end to your wooly, sheepy business. Ah the Irony it burns sometimes.
Who owns that overgrazed land; a farmer, an NGO, a government?

Was the West green, in 1600?

  5. emsnews

The West was ‘greener’ way back then. My ancestors hiked westwards and were part of the overgrazing problem.

Elaine will you cover this important insight?

RT reported on this article and the associated video showing General Michael Hayden, former director of the NSA and the CIA admitting, ““We kill people based on metadata.” meaning such data opbtained on foreign threats. He adds afterward “but that’s not what we do with this metadata,” meaning the domestic metadata collected by NSA etc. He adds this with a smirk, so you wonder if he knows something further.

NY Books, Dr. David Cole article:

Johns Hopkins Foreign Affairs Symposium video with Cole and Hayden, the damning quote is at 18:04:

Cole writes, “Supporters of the National Security Agency inevitably defend its sweeping collection of phone and Internet records on the ground that it is only collecting so-called “metadata”—who you call, when you call, how long you talk. Since this does not include the actual content of the communications, the threat to privacy is said to be negligible. That argument is profoundly misleading.”

I wonder what pseudo judicial process a target gets before ‘he’ is summarily executed (along with his entire family) by drone missiles. By the looks of it the mere implication of guilt from the metadata is sufficient. This is what is coming to a neighborhood near you.

“Metadata” is certain to be used for domestic control of politics, if nothing else.

We are all Eastern Ukrainians and Iraqis and Syrians and Palestinians and so forth. All our wars overseas come home to roost. All our fascist coups happen here, too.

Good lord, in 2000, the Supreme Court PREVENTED the counting of votes! And now Obama is against voting in Ukraine? Good lord, fascism!

Look up allan savory, herds of pooping animals are the solution to desertifcation in some places.

This TED lecture presents some very interesting concepts. Although you may disagree with some of the dogma, the results of the controlled grazing experiments seem indisputable. The inter-relationships of grazers, their predators, soil structure and local climate are very complex. But the air, the land-based water, the soil, the vegetation, and its feeders evolved together and dependently. Grasslands need to be trodden periodically. Soil needs to be broken up by hooves. And some seeds need to pass through the gut of an animal to be dispersed and germinate. Ancient nomadic herders used dogs nipping at the heels of the flocks to mimic wolves, and keep the herds from over-grazing. Fences and national borders, indeed the concept of private property forced an end to this. Desertification is a huge problem, maybe our greatest. Over-harvesting for the sake of more money is not sustainable. But a quick buck seems to be mankind’s only hand in a short game.

In nature, there is seldom overgrazing due to predators and herds moving from low feeding situations.

Much of this overgrazing is on PUBLIC lands. No sane farmer overgrazes home property because this works for only one season then it is desert and useless.

When there is a drought, the farmer sells his animals. Herders don’t. They overgraze instead.

  12. Jim R

Of course, the Republicans will argue for “private” ownership of the land, which is really _corporate_ ownership (big difference), and in the current kleptocratic milieu, the corporates will go ahead and overgraze, because they are only seeking to monetize the land.

After they are done with it, they’ll throw it away. Or make a ‘park’ out of it and claim carbon credits.

“Supreme Court PREVENTED the counting of votes!”

We’re like so over that democracy thingy – Bush appointed not elected, Hamas didn’t win the fair election in Gaza, illegal for East Ukrainians to vote for independence, a Sadistic junta in Egypt is better than an elected government, appointed technocrats from Brussels is preferred to local European elected leaders…..

The world’s elite in power just might be overgrazing and will soon find their pasture denuded and the herd agitated.

In the midst of record heat and drought, illegals cook a rabbit…and start fires…but the Gov gives his usual…http://www.breitbart.com/Breitbart-California/2014/05/16/Governor-Brown-San-Diego-Wildfires-Due-to-Global-Warming

The rabbit was heating up things too much, eh?

The idiocy of those leading us [or mis leading us] is alarming.
