Ebola Doctor From Africa Comes To NYC And Spreads Disease

UPDATE: The doctor definitely has ebola and has definitely interacted all over the place while definitely sick.

A Doctors Without Borders person came back from Africa and then went out having fun instead of putting himself into quarantine.  So now we have this news: Doctor who treated Ebola patients in Africa rushed to Bellevue Hospital in New York with 103F fever and nausea as it emerges ‘he spent last night at a crowded bowling alley despite feeling ill’.

Of all people, this doctor should have known he is a dangerous virus carrier due to his work and where he was working.  He knew that he should have been under quarantine but since the ONLY quarantine being imposed is to hand out a thermometer and a piece of paper telling about symptoms, this didn’t work at all!

Just like with the nurses: they knew better and still couldn’t resist prowling about the planet, spreading germs.  If professionals can’t tell they have symptoms nor understand they should be in strict isolation until cleared of the disease, can we expect anyone else to do better?

Obviously no.  As this mess unfolds with the ‘liberals’ whining about how ebola is no big deal, we have voters fleeing the Democratic party in a shocking degree.  Even Democratic Representatives now understand they can’t be seen with Obama due to all this.  Democratic senators dismiss Obama as ‘not relevant’ in his presidency’s last years:

Alaska Democratic Sen. Mark Begich, facing tough re-election, says president is ‘not relevant. He’s gone in two years.’ The White House fires back, insists Obama is ‘relevant in a lot of important ways.’

How sad!  Meanwhile, from very liberal TPM news is this story:  Poll: Likely Voters Expect And Want GOP Senate Takeover

The Democrats win few accolades themselves. Impressions of the party among likely voters have grown more negative in the past month. In fact, Democrats are more trusted than the GOP on just two of nine top issues, the poll showed.

The economy remains the top issue for likely voters — 91 percent call it “extremely” or “very” important. And the GOP has increased its advantage as the party more trusted to handle the issue to a margin of 39 percent to 31 percent.

The article tries desperately to downplay polls.  The comments are filled with enraged liberals whining about losing popularity.  Perhaps they should have another Global Warming march in January in say, Minnesota, to show us how important this issue is.

On many important issues, the liberals are on the wrong side of the street.  Race, school reforms, ebola, global warming taxes and shutting down power plants right before winter, the list is growing.  The party leans on women voters because Republicans have utterly repulsive policies for women and gays.  If they didn’t have this problem, they would win big.

But the Democrats can’t beat the women/gay rights voting horse forever.  Picking weird things to embrace is the real problem.  Global warming is the weirdest.  But school integration is a close second since this is now a roaring failure and not due to whites at all but due very much to black students making lessons very hard or impossible in schools.

Thanks to Mr. Barrack Obama for freely issuing a U.S. Visa to, and welcoming Liberian Mr. Thomas Eric Duncan Ebola to the USA with open arms! And, for keeping the door wide open for other West Africans to come on over with Ebola!

Remember, they can not legally enter the USA without a Visa!

The 1918 Flu Virus Pandemic infected over 500 million people across the world, including the USA, remote Pacific islands and the Arctic, and killed 50 to 100 million of them, that’s a 10 to 20 percent death rate.

A large factor in the worldwide occurrence of this flu was increased travel. Modern transportation systems made it easier for soldiers, sailors, and civilian travelers to spread the disease.

Now we have Jumbo Jets and the Fast Spreading Ebola Virus… With a 50 to 70 percent death rate!

Moral, be suspicious of so called ‘do gooders’.

  4. Fact is stranger than fiction. If you wrote this in a work of fiction it would not pass the credibility test.

This “Doctor” should be sued for malpractice, reckless endangerment and anything else that applies. If he survives, he should face jail time.

Also someone has to do something about Doctors without Borders. Why are they letting their volunteers roam at will after their service? Why don’t they have their own quarantine for their own people? Holding their people in an isolated ward for 3 weeks is no big sacrifice. Especially when protecting the WORLD populace.

Funny… in a gruesome way. I’ve heard about a possible vaccine. But, as always, there is a danger that the current strain might mutate in wild. Time will tell

Maybe New York will soon test this research conclusion!

Ebola Can Spread by Air in Cold, Dry Weather Common to the U.S.

U.S. Army: Ebola Goes Airborne Once Temperature Drops
Ebola can go airborne but hasn’t in West Africa because it’s too warm, researchers conclude.

For those of you who do not know, the virus that causes the common cold here in America does not exist in tropical areas such as Thailand. I was surprised by this, and so I did some research. What I found out was that the virus cannot survive in hot temperatures, which is why it thrives during the winter here in America.

No one has thought much about the environmental pressures being exerted on this tropical virus (ebola). It may be that it was not ready for our colder climate, and thus did not spread so easily, but that can change quite fast if it mutates to adapt to our climate.

After all, it is a mutation of another previous virus, so it will probably mutate again in a way that will help it spread in colder climates.

As for the doctor who went bowling with ebola, I don’t really have any words that can describe this asshole. He reminds me of many American doctors, though, including a couple who brought their sick child to a social gathering of medical school residents. Their child gave my son the Rota Virus, and he then gave it to me. Since I had not had it as a child, it almost killed me.

It was similar to Ebola in that you are projectile vomiting while also having diarrea spray out of your butt simultaneously. It lasted for hours and I became dehydrated and started shaking. It was a nightmare, and if I did not have help, I would have died from this simple virus. I know what the Ebola victims are going through, and I feel terrible for them. They are also in great pain and their internal organs are being destroyed.

    DeVaul,

    Yikes!!!

How long did it take you to recover?

  10. emsnews

It takes more than a year to recover from a very bad virus. I was weakened and easily made sick over and over again for three years after nearly dying after three days of 103+ fever.

You have swollen lymph glands, messed up stomach and throat, brain damage from fever, etc. all very hard to deal with.

  11. DeVaul

    @Maddie

I think I was out of action for several weeks. My wife and mother and my wife’s parents had to help care for my son a whole lot those several weeks until I felt well enough to do it alone again. My wife was gone at the hospital for days at a time, and I was already ill from severe Meniere’s Disease and a brain stem problem. That is probably why I was not able to deal with it as well as a healthy person might have, although I don’t know that for sure. I was in a state of shock for days thereafter.

My grandfather never had chickenpox as a child, and he was always in mortal fear of it later in his life because there was no vaccine back then and he would die from it according to his doctor, so he was always alarmed when he saw a kid with red bumps on his skin nearby. He would just blurt out in public: “Does he have chickenpox?”

After surviving the Rota Virus, I now understand his lifelong fear of chickenpox. In fact, this year I got a pnuemonia shot just because I know I will not survive a bout with that if I get it.
