Hysteria over chicken, watermelon and cornbread infuriates radicals screaming ‘racism’. I love all three, by the way, I grew up on chickens we raised, watermelons we grew and eating cornbread! It was great food. Geeze. I say, have no food if simple food is so frightening to leftists.
California is a strange place, my family lived there for many, many years and I lived there and I think the place is crazy, my own family was crazy…so here is more crazy food stuff from California, the Land of the Hysterical Leftists: The howling madness of global warming continues to wreck California: California Schools Cut Meat, Cheese From Lunches To Fight Global Warming, of all things. HAHAHA. Will they serve ice cream still? No, the polar bears weep.
Oakland schools partnered with the environmental group Friends of the Earth (FOE) to fight global warming by making student lunches climate-friendly.
The older children in Oakland are already rather dangerous. Cross them and you may die. Feeding them stuff they hate is a great way to raise the violence level.
FOE gave kids a lunch menu designed to eliminate foods it says are “unsustainable for our planet.” The new menu features far less meat and more plant-based food. Any meat or cheese the school did use came from “pastured, organic dairy cows.” The student’s lunch menu went from beef hot dogs and pepperoni pizza to vegan stir fry tofu and vegan tostadas. The new FOE-approved menu served meat and cheese-less frequently and reduced the portion sizes.
I can see the vegetarians now, going into the lunch rooms and saying, ‘Eat your veggies!’ to violent thugs. I hope they record this on their cell phones and put it on You Tube, I will post it here.
“This is a landmark moment for school food,” Jennifer LeBarre, head of nutrition services for Oakland Unified School District, said in a FOE press statement. “We were so excited to see how the data showed that we could reduce our carbon and water footprint by serving healthy, delicious food –– like the vegetarian tostadas with fresh made in-house salsa, that kids absolutely love –– all while saving money.”
HAHAHA, everything is ‘global warming’. It is like the measles: everyone in the room will get it. LAUSD Students Trash $18M In Healthy School Lunches Every Year « CBS Los Angeles reports. DUH. This is obvious to me. I was a kid once. My mother never let us eat school lunches. She made her own wonderful bread…yummy and very nutritious, with peanut butter and jam made from our grape vines.
It weighed a ton and was quite filling. We bought our milk at the school for a nickel. It never varied for years and years. She didn’t alter a thing and I didn’t mind, either. The kids eating the school lunches would toss most of it. They certainly do that today.
Starving children in Mexico ate everything they could lay their hands on back in the 1950’s during the terrible, long drought there. We took food down to them and would pass it around. It was very tragic. But children in the US today have plenty of food and so they don’t eat the lunch food.
LAUSD Food Services Director David Binkle estimated that about 10 percent of the approximately 650,000 meals served daily end up in the trash.
That is a lie. I wonder if they go and weigh the discarded food to accurately tell how much is tossed. The do-gooders think that forcing children to take in food they don’t want, teaches them to eat ‘properly’ whatever that is.
“What this is…is a cause from the 2010 Federal Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act. Basically, children can only decline a certain amount of food. So they have to take more food than they’re requesting or that they want,” he said.
They are FORCED to take food! This is compulsion on a lunatic scale. Then the adults are supposed to scold the tykes about their food which leads to food riots and children hating people and acting out, etc.
KCAL9’s Kristine Lazar reported that students are given five different food options. Of those, they must choose three. At least one of those three must be a vegetable or a fruit…If students don’t follow the federal guidelines, the district doesn’t get reimbursed for the meals.
Yes, the staff stand there and force the food forwards or they lose money. Then the kiddies take it and throw it around, stomp on it, spit it up on each other and destroy it in various amusing ways. Children are great at revolting against do-gooders.
“We want to eliminate and remove that mandate that children have to take a certain amount of food,” Binkle said. Supporters of the current regulations said administrators need to keep trying to get kids to eat fruits and vegetables.
So there is this impass: the jerks who make life miserable for everyone all the time cause a huge waste of money because they want to force children to eat stuff and can’t succeed so they pretend to do this at great cost to the taxpayers. Note that unlike my childhood and all my brothers and sisters grew up to be over six feet tall and I am the only one who didn’t for some weird reason…the meddlers think children won’t grow unless they eat magic food.
It’s lunchtime at Washington Preparatory High School in Los Angeles, but 16-year-old Parrish Jackson has barely touched her turkey burger and apricots.
She’s dumping them into the trash can.
I loved apricots when a child. I would have asked for them to supplement the sandwich.
The apricots are “sour,” the junior says. The meat is “nasty.” If it were up to her, she would just have taken the potato wedges — they’re close enough to fries — then headed to the student store to fuel up on hot Cheetos and juice.
And so it goes on hundreds of campuses in Los Angeles Unified, the nation’s second-largest school system, which serves 650,000 meals a day. Students throw out at least $100,000 worth of food a day — and probably far more, according to estimates by David Binkle, the district’s food services director. That amounts to $18 million a year — based on a conservative estimate of 10% food waste — which Binkle says would be far better spent on higher-quality items, such as strawberries or watermelon.
It is probably around $30 million a year being tossed in the garbage by LA schools. Multiply it for the entire state and you see that the food nuts who imposed this system are costing taxpayers $100 a year and a billion dollars a decade now. No wonder the ‘6th largest economy in the world’ state is going bankrupt.
