Quick bit of news: Dr. Dao won against United Airlines. They paid up and it was a huge amount but we are not allowed to know how much. I figured this would happen because a jury would have hit them ten times harder, there was no excuse for their assault, and the chaos on the airlines continues as I posted earlier today. The cattle car system set up in the last 30 years and made much worse after 9/11, is reaching levels of total failure.
Today, United will now offer up to $10,000 for passengers who give up their seat on an overbooked flight because they are scared of the bad publicity. They even decided to perhaps slow down the overselling of seats. They will also have a new app for dealing with passengers (anyone can insert endless jokes about this here).
Munoz has told the United Continental board of directors, and it agreed, that Munoz should not be elevated to the role of Chairman as previously planned this summer.
He is falling on his sword. But it is a gold plated sword so don’t feel sorry for him. If the board of directors beat the snot out of him and tossed him out of the room by force, then it might be closer to reality.
Remember, Police say ‘minimal but necessary force’ used on United passenger back then and that should scare the piss out of all airline passengers. I didn’t see this photo during this last week:
Dao suffered a concussion, a broken nose, and lost two front teeth…
That makes the headline that this was ‘minimal force’. I guess medium force is to be stomped totally and several bones broken and max is, of course, death if you don’t give up your seat to airline employees.
maybe if he hadn’t been running back onto the plane, hanging onto his seat, and creaming kill me when he was almost off, (probably while on drugs since he had all those drug offenses-where he was the victim doncha know, surely not a pedophile who should be in jail).
Now we all have to pay more or our tickets because of a jackass CEO and jackass passenger. By the way, he played the snowflake victim card to the tilt, throwing in racism at the end, and getting Jesse Jackson involved.
Bravo, my little snowflake. Enjoy your windfall
Yes, physically beating up paying passengers because the carrier changed its mind is…GOOD GODS. I have NEVER seen someone undo a business deal this way except for …the MAFIA.
Yes, the damn Mafia. They make deals you can’t turn down, don’t they? Oh, this is also how the US does business, that is, killing lots of people for the wrong reasons, we call this ‘war crimes’.
People do act funny when their head gets slammed. Concussion / brain damage does cause irrational behavior, Maybe you should self medicate floridasandy.
floridasandy, please.
If you ever have the misfortune of being in a similar situation, to get beaten and bloodied by corporate thugs, and then on top of that, to have all your dirty laundry aired for the world to see in an attempt to discredit you, I hope you will stick by your principles and loudly proclaim “I DESERVED IT!!!”
I was once illegally arrested. A riot ensued because people were pissed off who witnessed the abuse. Then the police tried to blame ME for this. It all fell apart on them because there was way too much proof that I was right and they were wrong.
To top it all off, I was only 17 years old when this happened and when they decided to release me, they pushed me out the door in the middle of the night with no way to get home or call for help. But luckily for them, my friends were there, protesting and we left together.
I then called them the next morning and said, ‘That was child abuse.’ This pissed them off at me more but then, I was a brat back then.
The point is, the cops have to follow some rules. You can’t just go and beat up or arrest people for no reason at all. The man who resisted being kicked off a plane when they seated him and collected his money had a right to resist them when they tried to STEAL his seat for themselves.
This is called ‘the right of ownership.’ They made a business deal and then frivolously decided to undo it via force. Illegal force. All business deals would be wonderful for thugs if they were openly allowed to beat up anyone who doesn’t accept their ‘deals’. We call this ‘Mafia’ business.
This is what ‘an offer you can’t refuse’ means.
I’m thinking they settled quickly, with gag order, for what the doctor’s lawyer felt was a fair offer – why? Because the lawsuit would have also included those cops. The airline likely would have had to pay for their legal expenses (they were simply acting on the request from the airline). Additionally there would likely have been substantial punitive damages too to make a lesson of it.
