Airline Labor Woes Cause Vacation Student Riot In Lauderdale

Chaos Erupted at Fort Lauderdale Airport Following Spirit Airlines Flight Cancellation – YouTube

This was no mere plane problem, this was due to a strike by the pilots flying this cheap discount airline.  The students on spring break who turn Ft. Lauderdale into a war zone continued their violent behavior when told, their planes were not flying.  This led to a violent riot and a number of the students arrested.  This sort of chaos is how things run these days: everything is stunted or crushed or out of control.

Florida Airport Falls Into Disarray After Spirit Flights Canceled – YouTube

When looking at US news I saw nothing, but when I went to overseas news, there it was, a headline story at the Daily Mail in London:  Spirit Airlines customers clash at Fort Lauderdale airport.

Airline spokesman Paul Berry said in a statement: ‘We are shocked and saddened to see the videos of what took place at Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport this evening.

‘This is a result of unlawful labor activity by some Spirit pilots designed to disrupt Spirit operations for our customers, by canceling multiple flights across our network.

So, this is a wildcat strike?

‘These pilots have put their quest for a new contract ahead of getting customers to their destinations and the safety of their fellow Spirit Team Members.

‘It is for this reason, Spirit has filed suit in Federal Court to protect our customers’ future travel.’

Yes, it has to go to court.

The pilots association responded with a statement, saying: ‘The Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l and the Spirit pilot group it represents are not engaged in a job action.

So what caused the cancellations?  Did something else happen and the airlines are blaming the pilots?

‘Rather, ALPA and the Spirit pilots are continuing to do everything possible to help restore the company’s operations, which have experienced significant problems over the past several days.

‘While we will continue these efforts, we will actively defend the association, its officers and its member pilots against the unwarranted and counterproductive legal action brought this evening by Spirit Airlines.’

These super low cost airlines are very sensitive to hikes in fuel prices and prices have gone up a bit in the last month so perhaps this is a confluence of events?

The other story here is how the young black female students reacted to all this: they went loudly insane with rage.  We see this all over the place these days.  Once the schools decided to not have any realistic discipline, things are rapidly falling to pieces due to out of control young people.  Every little thing is an excuse to riot.

You get what you pay for.

We call this the “Oh no you dint!”, response among our negress clients. Do you have a right to be pissed? Oh, Hay-uhl yes. Does that mean you are entitled to a chimp-out? Ummm….no. These fools do not recognize that we are in a police state. Their antics are tolerated…..for now.

Airlines have been treating passengers like cattle for years now. 9/11 only accelerated it. When you are loaded onto a plane like a side of beef, having been inspected and probed prior to even getting on, what did you imagine the experience would be on a low-cost carrier? Oooops, forgot……it’s that future time orientation thing that alludes them. Every time.

Perhaps we’re looking at the riot from the wrong, “white” perspective. The police only man-handled African-American and Hispanic passengers. Obviously, “people of color” were singled out for police brutality.

Expect Black Lives Matter to jump on this obvious racist behavior by the police. None of the white passengers were roughed up.

It all depends on how you spin these things.

#5—Phoenix Arizona is a kidnap capital, one of the worst in the WORLD.

  8. Ah, Arizona, the place where I and my friends had to do horrible things due to the police not protecting us at all. LITERAL hand to hand combat including pulling guns, etc. It was near outright warfare and then we were all removed and it was turned into a parking lot where a Saudi flying a jet crashed…ahem.

    YIKES.

And I went to NYC and less than two years later, was in the middle of the infamous blackout riots where my darling neighborhood buddies burned everything to the ground.

Our cities have lots and lots of crime and citizens are supposed to just live with it, I am presuming. Fighting back has been made highly dangerous in the last dozen years.

    Hello Elaine,

Perhaps the continuing rumors of unfit “Spirit Airlines” aircraft are more true than we know?

In 2009, I flew “Spirit” from Las Vegas to Monterey, California for a weekend with my daughter.

Arriving at Oakland Airport on Monday Noon to catch the afternoon flight to Bellingham, Washington we were told that the aircraft had mechanical problems and the flight would be delayed until a replacement arrived.

By 5PM it was obvious that no ‘replacement’ would arrive so we were bused to a nearby hotel and the staff held-up each passenger by asking “Do you have a credit-card to attach to your room?”

Fortunately, I didn’t and told them to send the bill to “Spirit”. The next day we were all bussed back to Oakland Airport at 10AM where we waited for the replacement aircraft til the 2PM flight, which just happened to be the time of the malfunctioned flight from the previous day.

Nary a word about this on the “Spirit” web-site which forever tried to bill me for being one of their “team members”.

    Regards,
    PFO

    Airport Racial Profiling:

I was standing at the bar of Terminal 3 in the International Airport when this small Chinese guy comes in, stands next to me, and starts drinking a beer.

I asked him, “Do you know any of those martial arts things, like Kung-Fu, Karate, or Ju-Jitsu?”

He says, “No! Why the hell would you ask me that? Is it because I am Chinese?”

“No”, I said, “It’s because you’re drinking my beer, you little pr*ck…”
