Earthquake/Tsunami Kill Over 400 People In Paulu, Indonesia

Subsidence is a serious coastal problem.  When major earthquakes hit, some of these cause the landmass to collapse back into the ocean.  This happens in the North American West Coast, too.  People build many towns and cities right on the ocean’s edge thinking the land will always be the same height.  This is false. Yesterday’s earthquake in Sumatra shows this clearly.

8.1 Quake In Sumatra, Indonesia, Potential Tsunami

Screen shot 2016-03-02 at 8.18.07 AM

Major 8.1 magnitude quake strikes southwest of Indonesia – USGS: probable tsunami.  This is a shallow quake and thus, quite capable of creating a tsunami.  The biggest city in the possible tsunami zone is Padang.  It is sheltered by a string of islands so I don’t know how much this will help prevent a tsunami.  Just as I predicted when I first published this story this morning:  TSUNAMI WARNING JUST ISSUED FOR PADANG AND COASTAL ISLANDS as of 8:47 EST.

Is Earthquake Activity Unusual? The Past Decade Has Had Many More Major Quakes

Screen shot 2014-06-05 at 2.50.41 PM

Here is today’s earthquake map.  Ever since the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami we have seen many other major quakes equal in strength.  The Indonesian one was a 9.1 or greater and the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake was at least a 9.0.  A quick look at the below graph shows very clearly that great or small, quakes are more frequent and more violent this last decade:

Mt. Rainier Can Cause Huge Tsunamis As Well As Lahar Floods

Mt Rainier lahars from eruption will create massive tsunamis

One thing we know for certain especially about the Cascadia volcano system: these things erupt frequently and when they do, they often blow up and are very deformed by these eruptions, they are not Mt. Fuji style in appearance.  So we must assume that if they do erupt, they might have massive landslide collapses like Mt. St. Helens.  This means that a major city and several smaller ones can be not only flooded badly by lahars but as these hit the Puget Sound, they will, no question about this, cause tsunamis.  Which few people want to think about in that region.

Cryosphere Breaks Alarmist Hearts | Real Science

The earth shattering news has not reached our heroic leaders, that not only has the Arctic ice grown greater, the ice over North America has been huge this last bitter winter and blizzards are still blowing.  To fix the propaganda organ, the New York Times published a big story about big Bilderberg Buddy, Friedman, and his visit to a nuclear armed submarine lurking at the North Pole.  And all he talks about is global warming and saving us from Taliban Polar Bears who lurk up there, attacking both US citizens and Jews.

Hamaoka Nuclear Power Plant in earthquake/tsunami zone south of Fukushima

The precarious situation in Fukushima has made the news again: TEPCO partially restores power to cooling systems at Fukushima plant  and there is no excuse for this because the Fukushima plant outage reveals lack of backup power source 2 years after crisis outbreak.  Closing the nuclear power plants has caused Japan’s Feb trade deficit gets worse at $8.1B as exports lag imports. Japan LDP Giving Billions To Businessmen So They Can Buy Foreign Corporations

Woman, 2 children found dead in apparent murder-suicide in Saitama

The bizarre government of Japan continues onwards off a cliff.  Just like the US government.  In my previous article, I talked about ‘sovereign wealth’ and pointed out that Japan is one of the top ten SW holders except they run a 260 percent bigger than GDP government debt which is nearly triple the US rate.  Japan is dying and the desperate people there want to be saved so the government has decided…
