German Transport Minister Volker Wissing has warned that he may forbid citizens from driving on weekends if reforms aren’t made to a controversial climate law. Even Germany’s Federal Environmental Agency considers such a move “unnecessary” and “frightening.”

The little diagram is a generic ‘missile launcher’ little diagram. Doesn’t say how fast the missiles are, how they deal with countermeasures (such as flares), how capable the associated radar system is, any EW features, etc. etc. etc. – I’m pretty sure ‘iron dome’ is a half century old by now. The robot planes have microprocessors in ’em, and can be mass produced. And the larger missiles can go 5+ times the speed of sound. David’s Sling only has 1 or 2 seconds to decide, and work out a ballistic solution – which may not work because the missiles are powered, not ballistic.
So anyhoo, we shall see. It looks like Iran can keep the fireworks going longer than Tel Aviv. Maybe they’ll get the message and stop bombing the consulates of their neighbor countries.

The big missiles are only present for a few video frames, if they are caught on video at all. I did not know that there were several different types of them.

But at the same time, “peak oil theory” is not wrong. When you drill into an underground oil deposit, you get a lot of oil at first and then it tapers off. And if it were still gushing out of the ground in Pennsylvania and Texas, BP would not feel the need to drill through three miles of rock under a mile of water in the Gulf of Mexico to get it. And we would not have built a pipeline clear across Alaska back in the ’70s.
Saudi Arabia still has lots of oil — but there is now some question as to whether it has enough to manipulate prices via OPEC, but it’s still a player. And there’s oil in South America and probably under Antarctica.
All of which leads to Russia, and its largely untapped reserves … this is what Dmitry Orlov has been writing about for a couple decades now. Due to a century of Communism, Russia did not explore and drill and exploit its underground oil like America has done. Its underground oil/gas wealth is not entirely known yet.
Therein lies the rub — if Europe were to come to its senses, it could regain a bit of economic prosperity by doing business with Russia (recall that Trump suggested doing business with Russia instead of insulting them and trying to start WWIII).
But alas, it is too late for that. America has gone insane.

The original Drake well is long gone, abandoned in the 1860s after not producing much oil. The replica well built in 1945 for the museum, gets oil from another nearby ancient oil well, and just pumps it around as a display.
